I'm 17. I played this and galaxy 2 when I was 10 or so and I had so many great memories playing it. I remember waking up early on Saturday mornings to play this game. Good times.

@@marioandtyler you’re kidding right? This looks like a low effort rom hack compared to the final game. The textures and colours look awful compared to the first galaxy game in this footage.
@@callinater6133 I definitely see what you're saying about the colors, but I honestly like the bleakness of it all. Yoshi Star Galaxy looks a lot less linear and more open-ended, which is a good thing, and I love how Yoshi is present in Cloudy Court as well! There is just something so cooler about the way it looks to me.

Mario’s moveset is not fluid enough in the galaxy games to make exploration fun, especially compared to the sandbox games. Galaxy 1’s open ended levels, while novel, were among the weakest levels in the game. When people cite their favourite levels it’s usually the linear gauntlet like levels such as battle rock, space junk or gusty garden. The only open ended level in that game that people seem to love is freezeflame, but personally I think a lot of that is attributed to the 2nd and especially the 3rd missions. Believe me, if the entire game doubled down on non linearity it would be far, far worse. You’d basically be playing a lesser super mario 64.
Well, there are 4 in the trailer, 2 are used but with a different aproach (the Mario head and the Yoshi flower thing), the other ones are that little grey matter planet and the beautyful big one, that's the only one i miss.
no there not actually if you look in the game files all of those area all labeled areazone(something)E3 which means that they were prolly only made for the e3 trailer that would be full functional except we don't have those models so unfortunately I don't think we can ever play these levels.
Just wait someone will leak the beta version eventually just have patience. I really want to play Banjo-Kazooie betas and Twelve Tales: Conker 64 as well as Project Dream (the action rpg Banjo was before it became Banjo).
really never understood why people want a galaxy 3 so much. yea the games are good but so is odyssey. we’ll probably get an odyssey 2 for the switch and then just whatever else nintendo does after that. galaxy 1 is my favorite 3D mario game but it makes no sense to make a galaxy 3 instead of odyssey 2. there’s no way we’ll get a galaxy 3 on the switch and i doubt we’ll really get it ever.
So I hit my head really hard on a stone tunnel when I was in third grade, Friday before spring break. Had to get medical staples. Mom bought me a video game after that. That was this game. I was like 7-8. I’m 19 now, about to be 20. At some point I got to world 3. To beat the boss, you needed to use Yoshi. Motion controls only worked if you were farther back, and I’m visually impaired, so I could either dodge the bullets or use Yoshi, not both. A few years later, i was talking to dad, he offered to help be my eyes. He used the second player to freeze bullets for me and would point them out so I could dodge. After several years, I finally got to experience the rest of galaxy 2. I think I could beat that boss on my own now, but I really appreciate his help in that
I'm a little on the fence with this. What makes the main Mario games so great is that every game is different, from Super Mario Brothers 1 and 2, and 2 and 3, and 64 and Sunshine, Sunshine and Galaxy. They are all completely different, with something unique about them. I'm wondering whether Galaxy 2 will feel a bit "been there, done that". But I'm still loving the remixed music. :D
Huh I've been trying to figure out why I didn't liked this as much as what came before and after it but now I know, every Mario game even though they mostly feel and play the same they all have something unique to differentiate them for the rest. Galaxy 2 on the other hand it just takes what made Galaxy 1 unique and barely makes anything new to it, even Yoshi which was the biggest thing for this game is pretty much a glorified limited per level gimick which Galaxy had already tons of.
People don't realize Galaxy 2 was literally gonna be a Galaxy expansion with all the ideas that couldn't make it into Galaxy. Then Nintendo realized it would be pretty complicated to make a DLC for the Wii and decided to make 2 a full game In fact if you go to the game files, the game itself is called Super Mario Galaxy More
Must keep 8 year old conversation alive... Galaxy 1 took me *years* to finish. Galaxy 2 took about a week, however with an average of 7-8 hours per day. The game was designed to be easier to get into imo. Maybe it's just my imagination but the levels had a lot more checkpoints. Also you didn't have to worry about beating the game as Luigi a second time. To this day I'm not sure if replacing the Purple Comets with Green Stars was a good choice or not but it made the post-game much less tedious. Because it was so short I will admit, *yes* I don't remember all of the galaxies. But that doesn't mean the game was more forgettable by any means. Whereas in Galaxy 1 some galaxies took me a whole week and I came to know them through sheer dread. (I'm looking at you Sweet Sweet, that level alone taught me the importance of long-jumping) Though when it comes to the soundtrack I could probably recognize *any* song from either game.

Me too. I played this, 64 ds and odissey. I prefer more platforming and difficulty in the levels that the sandbox where the difficulty is given by having to look everywhere or do quest for stars or moons. And then I love design and changing gravity
Little did we know that 10 years later, Nintendo would retcon :Super Mario Galaxy 2" for both "Super Mario 3D All- Stars: and the 35th anniversary of "Super Mario Bros." during its own 10th anniversary year......... Also, poor Lubba never got a chance to be in another Mario game ether.....
Now that I saw and thought about it, what a big shame... what a very BIG shame. But at least we are free to enjoy ourselves celebrating it's 10 year anniversary just by playing it and having fun.

This game was my childhood (even though I'm not a young adult yet.) Everything, the music, the level design and music is what makes me reminist on old times. It's so sad to see an amazing game like this not get a third entry. I get it doesn't have an epic story or atmosphere alas Galaxy 1 or doesn't have an open world sandbox like sunshine or 64 but for me this was my childhood and without this game, I would not have ever got into videogames so I just want to thank everyone that worked on this game, it was a masterpiece that I will never forget

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010) is one of the most greatest video games of all time due to it's fun, innovative, mind-blowing, exciting, thrilling, and challenging gameplay, graphics, and levels. It was decent. To this day I still play it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old.😍😎💯👍
I remember when back in 2009 when I had just finished Super Mario Galaxy 1 as a kid and then opening the Nintendo Channel for the first time and seeing this trailer drop that same day and I had the biggest smile on my face. Good times.

12 Years ago! Back then I was 10 and seeing this trailer really excited me, oh and that music, it just takes me back, I will always have this game in my heart.
Aaah yes, I remember it like it was yesterday. My 7 year old self was browsing the internet, just looking for stuff to see. Then all the sudden I go to a Nintendo page that I don't exactly remember the name of...but I do remember what was IN that page, yup, it was this trailer. You gotta understand the context tho, I played the ever loving crap out of Super Mario Galaxy back then and when I say that, I mean that I played so much that the disc got scratched to the point that stopped working and we had to buy a new game. I loved every second of it. So you can imagine my reaction when I say this thing, I remember jumping out of my seat and screaming like a mad man. No over-the-top RUclips reaction will top MY reaction from that day, I can assure you that. It was worth it in the end. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is freaking incredible :')
As someone who as well played the first almost religiously, I remember seeing this, and I didn’t really jump for joy or show real external excitement, but that was because I was SO overjoyed I literally went stiff when I saw this trailer for the first time, my eyes were completely locked on everything I was seeing.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010) is one of the most greatest video games of all time due to it's fun, innovative, mind-blowing, exciting, thrilling, and challenging gameplay, graphics, and levels. It was decent. To this day I still play it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old.😍😎💯👍

Aaah yes, I remember it like it was yesterday.
My 7 year old self was browsing the internet, just looking for stuff to see. Then all the sudden I go to a Nintendo page that I don't exactly remember the name of...but I do remember what was IN that page, yup, it was this trailer. You gotta understand the context tho, I played the ever loving crap out of Super Mario Galaxy back then and when I say that, I mean that I played so much that the disc got scratched to the point that stopped working and we had to buy a new game. I loved every second of it. So you can imagine my reaction when I say this thing, I remember jumping out of my seat and screaming like a mad man. No over-the-top RUclips reaction will top MY reaction from that day, I can assure you that.
It was worth it in the end. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is freaking incredible :')

As someone who as well played the first almost religiously, I remember seeing this, and I didn’t really jump for joy or show real external excitement, but that was because I was SO overjoyed I literally went stiff when I saw this trailer for the first time, my eyes were completely locked on everything I was seeing.
I can't believe how long ago this was !! Such a great game. Both of the galaxies were amazing.
It's interesting how the midi version manage to still sounding incredible despite the bad quality of the instruments
And is still in my favorite top 3 games to this day.
