You forgot the mention of how they added the Engine Swap. That would bring the Nightmare GP's score a bit higher.

I don't really feel like the engine swap should count for the Spooky Grand Prix since not every Grand Prix added something substantial like a new feature or mode like Ring Rally, so it's more fair to just judge based on what all Grand Prix did the same.

One of the things I appreciated the most was the mini game catching ghosts during spooky grand prix. It was such a small thing, but a nice change of pace. Was kind of hoping they would keep it at least on that track, or release something else to catch during races after that grand prix! Amazing year for ctr none the less!
Yeah they could do a arcade score attack mode for CTR at some point with the ghosts in question.
Yea it feels kinda bare without them on the track.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I didn't really like it. Besides collecting them for challenges they were pretty pointless

Koala Carnival's layout might be simple, but it's fine, not every track needs to be complicated, also the track is way too much fun to play either way and has the best soundtrack.
I think the same, Koala Carnival was not my favorite, but it is a fine track, simple and fun. 5 seems harsh to me

Nitro Tour might be my favorite Beenox track. I hated it for 2 months but now that ive had time to appreciate it, its amazing. Top tier track. One of my favorites overall

There is an important issue that if not addressed will get worse. The loading times for both offline and online have been increasing every grand prix.
Have they? I haven't noticed at all.
Loading times are terrible in this game. That is the single reason I put MK8D over this game on overall score. I like CTR racing better, but those load times.

My order (including the two in 2020)with reasons
1:Winter festival. Overall great track,characters and customizashion items. I don't mind Rilla Roo even though Yaya is my fav!
2:Neon circus. People say it's not good but really it made ring rally one of the most fun modes ever! Even though the track is a circle it's a very fun circle
3:Gazmoxia. It's not my fav but it's not my least fav lol. People say the track is the best in the game but I'm not that fused on it. The gem in this is emporer velo the 27!
4:Spooky: ..well..the track is ok and the items are good. The characters don't have the same impact on me because I'm young and befor this I didn't know how Nina was!
5:Rustland. Where to start. I mean the customization items are ok the track is really good the skins are some of the best in the game and benox made a good design of megamix!
6:Nitro tour. I have some mixed feelings about this one. The characters were *VERY* overrated and the track is fine but on the simple side. Also I'm learning about Egypt now!
7:Back N time. Umm. Well again I have some mixed feelings about this one. Good track ok skins and meh karts. The thing keeping this from 8 is my old man's was baby crash he's so cute!
8:Spyro and friends. Characters our bad track is ok customization ok and overall my least favourite grand Prix.
I liked the later grand prixs for making the act of grinding for Nitro points a bit more easier to go through, to the point where you can finish it in a week or two .
I don’t mind the simpler tracks I had a few family members try out CTR for the first time over the holidays and the simpler tracks allow new players to get used to the basics they also look great.
How is that Spyro & Friends was like the most anticipated GP and at the end resulted to be the "worst" GP of all?

If they do a other Spyro Grand Prix, I want Bianca added. She is my favorite Spyro character (mainly due to her character arc)
It should be a third spyro grand prix the Spyro and Friends is mainly Spyro 1 with the exception of Hunter and the Ice breath and Dark skin for Spyro
I know this is an old video, but I just realized something with the Spyro Grand Prix skins, Joe's Wizard skin isnt a generic wizard skin like I previously thought. It is actually a Spyro reference, its just not a reference to Wizard's Peak wizards, its instead a reference to the Wizard Gnomes in Crystal Islands from Year of the Dragon.
What stood out was the purple robe, at first I thought "Oh well they just chose purple cause Joe wears purple", then i compared and none of the other characters legendary skins stook to the same color scheme for outfits. Then after comparing the pointy beard and gold trimming, all similar to these Gnomes. Really the only difference is Joe's is more extravagant, which yeah, thats different, but so is Zem's Devil Dog skin and Im sure no one disputes the fact its a Dark Passage Devil Dog.
In closing, I am correct and anyone who disagrees can fight me in my backyard.
I say in my opinion the best overall Grand prix has to be The neon circus Especially the koala carnival
Plus it Gave new skins to already amazing trophy girl characters
Plus mixing in a little tag team racing feel with Pasadena and von clutch too me that was my favorite Grandprix prix
it also added Ring Rally
Most of your favourite karts are from Crash Tag Team Racing by the way not just the ones you noted, and there are still a few more that I can definitely see coming to Nitro Fueled, that game really deserves some appreciation.
Very nice breakdown! I just recently got the game in november and so I only caught the tail end of the circus grand prize, but am fully emersed in the winter festival grand prize now! Was curious as to what I had missed in the others, besides the tracks. Thanks for the video 💚

I felt he was too harsh on those skins released during Spyro GP. I think the orc Norms are very good and like Wizard Komodo Joe a lot.

Favorite track: Gingerbread Joyride, the only track that feels like old CTR tracks in terms of fun, difficulty and skill level

Fair assessment. Nitro Tour can have a 6.5/10, but I’ll give it +3.5 in extra credit for Liz.
My favourite is the neon circus Grand Prix
My second favourite would be winter or spyro

My is similar to Carlos fav top 6 GP of 2019:
1. Neon Circus
(Nitro squad receiving the best skins of all the GP - Koala Circuit is very detailed but simple)
2. Winter Festival
(heaps of skins & good-challenging circuit)
3. Spooky
(vastly improved from the Spyro GP & Nitro + the circuit is a step up from the Spyro & Nitro tour)
4. Nitro Tour
(Great start of the GP + Twilight Tour circuit is my fav)
5. Back N. Time
(Great original circuit + the 3 new characters are okay - No baby Cortex & N. Trophy skin)
6. Spyro & Friends (worst one yet - lacking more characters from the Spyro universe + the circuit is okay)
The characters of Nitro Tour have really resonated with the fans and have been quite popular. Particularly on Rule 34.

completely agree, it's the only grand prix i didn't finish because i didn't like any of the content it brought, plus the nitro challenges were broken pretty much every day

This is a really awesome list ranking and I really like the way you listed them at the end. The spooky Grand Prix is definitely my favourite for sure but if I’m being really honest, the new characters are the only things that interest me at all. So in terms of that my least favourite Grand Prix is the back n time one just cause of the new baby characters. Particularly baby coco. Baby crash I honestly didn’t mind, but the high pitching of baby coco was very iterating I thought. Also the way you gotta get the eggs in adventure mode to unlock king chicken was kind of really annoying too...
My favorite Grand Prix is the Twilight Tour, the Back N. Time, and Spyro the Dragon.

There was definitely things to like about all of them, but I think my favorite overall is the spooky grand prix. I do so wish the flag stickers would come back.... I was buying other stuff at the time and missed them.
Aww, I love koala carnival. It’s one the plays to one of CTR standout features that no one talks about... verticality. Seriously, whenever anyone talks about Ctr, they talk about the drift boosts. No one talks about the jump boosts. I know the course is simple, but the number of jumps while sipping along at high speed make it a blast to play on!
While I agree that the skins for the Spyro GP fell flat, CGE, I love the track because of its simplicity... that’s what Spyro’s first game was known for... being simple enough for anyone to be able to play it! For content, I would have preferred a Yeti Polar skin over his Viking one (as a reference to Bentley or Bartholomew) an Elora, Bianca, or Zoe / other fairy(s) skin for a Nitro Squad girl, if not having the Professor, Shelia, Sgt. Byrd, Bentley, Bartholomew, Agent 9, Elora, Bianca, Zoe / other fairy(s) or one of the dragons (egg or adult) you rescued in place of Gnasty... maybe have cortex’s lab assistant replaced by the professor working on putting orbs into pillars on the track as a nod to the super portal? Or maybe replace the missiles on Spyro Circuit with Zoe as a nod to how she attacked Ripto in the opening of Ripto’s Rage? And definitely saving the Evil Crunch and Evil Coco skins for the Spooky GP... because ,let’s be real, those skins clashed with the Spyro aesthetic... Viking Polar could have been a Gnorc reference if his fur was green so that skin could have been saved... or just saved for a mythology / fantasy GP later down the line...
The theme of the Spyro Grand Prix isn't really just only supposed to be a spyro themed, it's a fantasy theme too. In my opinion, I think they did a good job with that fantasy content (skins basically). It makes sense for the theme to be a fantasy theme because the Spyro games were technically based on fantasy.
CGE: The wheels are lit! *crickets* Literally, their literally on fire. LOL. XD.
I love most of the content we got with every Grand Prix, but I do feel a constant issue is the lack of connection from the skins/paintjobs/ etc with the actual theme of the Grand Prix. The Spooky paints, though look great, I think they're too colorful and neon-ish for what they were supposed to represent. I'd expect darker colors, or more purple, gray, orange, black combinations. Also, when you use it in combination with other karts and decals, sometines it just looks like a huge flashing splat and the ghosts are barely visible.
With the winter GP, I think the track is fine, and again, I do like the wheels and paintjobs, but it looks like the GP's theme was Candyland instead of Christmas or even Winter. I love Christmas so much, and just like Halloween, it's mostly because of the decorations and colors that are usually related to those festivities so it was kind of a bummer to not see that more exploited.
But yeah, I agree Spyro GP was definitely the most wasted one. There are so many characters from Spyro that could've been represented on the skins, and while I do love the paint jobs and wheels, it didn't feel quite Spyro-ish either.
My favorite one in terms of appearance is the Carnival one. I love the paintjobs and wheels and the track is amazing, even if it's simple. Not to mention the Ring Rally mode is really fun. I still believe Rilla Roo should've been introduced in this GP and not the Winter one.
I really liked Neon Circus track. Yea, it was simple, but it changed the game. High speed, easy to keep blue fire all the way and rockets. You just can't hide from them behind the turn. I really liked this gamechanging track. Favorite skins: Winter; karts: Spyro; colors/whells: circus.
I feel like Komodo Moe and Yaya Panda would have been better off in their own grand prix. Maybe they could have made a track based on Coco's Orient Express or Midnight Run. Would have been perfect for Janurary, basing it on the Chinese New Year. You could have replaced Komodo Moe with Evil Crash or Madam Amberly and Yaya with Bearminator or Gurin. Koala Kong should have also been put into another grand prix. Possibly a Grand Prix representing Crash 1. You could have characters like Wild Hog and the tribesman. And cut characters like Iguana, Gator, Hyena, and Monkey. I feel like the November Grand Prix should have had only Tag Team Racing characters. If anything Willie Wumpa Cheeks should have been there...along with Chic and Stu.
My favorite was winter festival. Amazing characters, an amazing track, amazing everything.
I like how much characters from original and bad games make their way to Nitro Fueled with updated model designs!
Tracks From Best to Worst:
1. Nina's Nightmare (I won this race the FIRST TIME I TRIED IT. Love the theme, love the track, I love this GP)
2. Koala Carnival (This track, despite being a huge oval, is just so much fun. The theme is chaotic, and it made my November.)
3. Twilight Tour (I didn't get the game until the end of the Back N. Time. GP. I wasnt a fan of this track at first but after a while I was hooked. LOVED THE THEME.)
3. Prehistoric Playground (OK. I HATED this track at first, not because its not good, no. But because of that shitty item spam you'd get at the beginning of the race. And if someone kept blue fire and avoided that item spam? They were almost set to win the entire race just from the first few seconds. Theme is fun tho.)
5-6: Gingerbread Joyride & Spyro Circuit (Its a tie because I equally fucking hate both tracks. Hate their themes, hate their skins, hate the carts. Can't. Stand. These. GPs.)
This game really, REALLY needs to come out on PC before the interest for it dies(and I'm pretty sure that might happen very soon).
Spyro Circuit does have a mini shortcut that you can take by jumping over the grass, before the second portal.
The Phantom? Bah! True Crash fans know that it's called the Organ Grinder.
I want to say that I agree with your track description of Koala Carnival, but the music in that track is the best in the game.
The Probulot 2000 was also from Tag Team Racing; Cortex's battle kart.

I actually miss chasing the ghosts during the Spooky Grand Prix. It wasn't anything special, but added something fun to do while racing
Thank you for bringing up Spyro Grand Prix's short comings with it skins. It felt like alot of other reviewers over looked that for the sake of wanting to believe Spyro can do no wrong.
Viking Polar is a reference to the prototype predecessor of Spyro's Balloonist: the 'Boatman', a Viking who would take you to the next world by boat. At least two in-game screenshots of him exist online.

My favorite track was the Spyro Circuit simply because it was simple and captured the essence of the original Spyro the Dragon game. Also, not really a fan of every new level having blue fire as a standard. Favorite character would be King Chicken for sure.
Spyro, Spooky and Koala Carnival
This is kind of a stretch, but maybe Evil Coco and Evil Crunch are a reference to Spyro's appearance in CNK (GBA version), as he was a member of Team Trance, which was themed around brainwashing.
I don't have CTR, so I'm curious; is there no other way to get the grand prix characters at this point?

Sumarized my exact feelings on The Spyro Grand Prix. Huge missed opportunities with skins, felt more like just more Crash than Spyro.
Well it is a cross over and they still need to add crash content

@@Tatolus That doesn't make sense XD. That's the same like you said Pasadena was in Neon Circus but she barely had any reference so it is not fair. While spyro got his own track, paint job, kart, which is similar to other characters. ALSO mby because it was a crossover they were limited with the amount of content they could add from spyro
@@kawaiimika7974 I highly doubt it considering Activision owns both of them and Beenox, TFB, and Vicarious have always worked very closely with eachother. Neon Circus was advertised as "Neon Circus," not "Pasadena O'Possum Circuit." Youre argument makes no sense. The "Spyro and Friends" Grand Prix should have been Spyro and friends. Or at least more Spyro based rewards, not just some random half thought out skins.

I agreed with everything you said, apart from during the spooky grand prix... feels like some bias came in as you had the same track issues as me, couldn't appreciate the wheels, didn't reference the pumpkin king properly yet still gave it a 9...? Back in time won 2 of your categories too so I'd argue that this is the true winner.
You also opened up many questions for me, especially with the spyro & friends skins, we got nitro circus skins for half the nitro squad but why not the other half? Hopefully with the new years gps there will actually be alot more consistency without the pressure to add certain characters etc.
This game is a content monster.

- *Nitro Tour* : for me, definetly the best one, as it was brought back the former Trophy Girls as racers, along with Tawna - what an excellent move, Beenox! I like the track itself, the paint jobs gave more wild options, I totally adore it. Sadly, the flags took away... >:(
- *Back N. Time* : I liked that one too, but a bit dissapointed, as instead of giving Baby Cortex and Baby N. Tropy, we had the infant Crash and Coco instead. I ain't sayin it's bad, but people did expected the 1st to babies. Also I dislike the wheels here, those are just... rocks. Also lack of paint jobs. And the most triggering at all: the almost 10k cost kart bundle, that may overshadowed the microtransaction.
- *Spyro and Friends* : My fav one, in terms of Spyro, Hunter and Gnasty Gnorc bein added... but pissed of the so-called Evil Coco and Evil Crunch skins. What a bullshit. This one has one of the best paint jobs and wheel sets imo. The track is awesome to, but that so-called shortcut should fuck it self. Excluding the Velo skin, this one the first which were I bought all stuff
- *Spooky* : Finally, Nitrus Brio, Nina is back, and the Komodo Bros. reunited! :D 2nd best set of paint jobs and wheels - but sometimes it doesn't looks good on certain karts imo. But the ghost hunt part was so annoying, it pissed me off so much... The track is okay.
- *Neon Circus* : Ooooh booooi; the 3rd best - or first, because the Bandicuties got awesome skins? Or because all Classic Crash Bandicoot characters are finally added to the game? A new game mode I liked at first sight?! But somehow disappointed in the track being at 90% just a big oval form? Nevertless, I liked it. The Ring rally challenges were the best part of it, I liked better than * cough cough * catching ghosts!
- *Winter Festival* : the final one continued the same goosebump shivers like Neon Circus did! The newcomers warmed my heart so much, even thought I never played any of those they came - sadly. Skins were awesome to, paint job and wheels are my 4th fav GP sets. Altought the tracks shortcuts are pretty thought imo.
Not to mention, the Engine Swap along with Ring Rally was the best thing to happened to bring fresh air to the game imo - besides of adding more characters, skins, paint jobs and wheels (I personally ain't fond of stickers. On some karts, it is placed so stupid places, like on the Pressurizer.)

i like ripper roos rick skin. not sure which character id use as my main since i need to unlock all of them and all of the skins still. good thing this game has a long life to earn stuff to unlock.

I’m really hoping that the holiday Grand Prix are annual and not just one time only.
Spooky was my favorite by far. I took a break from the game and rejoined mid-way through this one and it made the game feel refreshing.

Durring the Circus/carnival Grand prix you forgot to mention the Ring Ralley game mode tyat was introduced with this grand prix
Well here's my personal rankings of each Grand Prix from worst to best(and this includes judging the updates that they added for each Grand Prix too);
6 - Back N.Time - Fun track design with decent obstacles and some challenge to keeping the blue flames and I like the wheels in this GP as well as how they added the Super Engine to races but the characters were pretty hideous in my opinion, more specifically Baby Crash and especially Baby Coco. Doesn't help that this GP was where Activision introduced the micro transactions which people have already made videos on so I won't rant on about that but because of these issues, this GP to me is the worst one. I like that they started to include Nitro bonuses to the GP items and so on going forward but that's about it.
5 - Neon Circus - New track was just a pile of visual flair but nothing else, easily the worst bonus track in the game (and we're not counting the Retro Stadium), new characters and costumes were pretty awesome too but everything else in the pit stop in terms of customisation items for karts were pretty mediocre, like the new ring rally mode but it sucks that they didn't even add a new mode or two in online races. Overall this GP gets some stuff right but with everything they get right here they get other stuff wrong too to the point where I feel this is a pretty mediocre GP. I will say though that they've done a great job making the grind for Nitro bar items less of a grind and possible to do within a week.
4 - Winter Festival - Track design is top notch, probably might be my favourite one of the bonus tracks in terms of Gameplay. Characters were pretty decent too (Rillar Roo's face not withstanding). All customisation items were slightly better then the ones for the previous GP. Absolutely enjoy what they did with the Warp Orb speed, now making races more interesting then ever.
3 - Spyro N.Friends - Track design is pretty simple but at least it doesn't go in a circle which makes it more unique with the turns it uses. Characters were hit and miss, like Spyro and Gnasty but Hunter I was never a huge fan of, could've used more characters. Items from the pit stop were pretty cool, besides Polar's viking skin and the Norms and Velo's skins, the other skins regardless of whether or not they were Spyro related were awesome to have too.
2 - Nitro Tour - Track design is pretty simple, like the day and night cycle they were going for. Characters in this GP to me were probably the best lineup that we've seen so far. Items like paint jobs, stickers and costumes were all pretty good too and being the first GP this was the one that introduced a lot of what the other GPs have and what those other GPs lack like extra costumes for the new characters, every GP after this one for some reason only gave costumes to one new character each(excluding the Spyro N.Friends GP where none were given new costumes) which sucks as a player who's trying to stay in the top 5% of the Nitro leader board because I'm only interested in playing as whichever characters have a costume that gives an extra 25% Nitro bonus and so far only Hasty has one for this GP. Yeah he's good but I want that bonus for the other new characters too.
1 - Spooky - Track design was pretty decent, characters were pretty decent too and the items were pretty decent as well but there's a few reasons why I'd rank this at number one; one being how this GP is the first one where they have the pit stop rotate all GP items instead of just having a specific set of GP items displayed and the best aspect that this GP introduced was engine swaps which made it possible to play as any character in the game regardless of the stats.

I wish there would be a track that lives up to EA's reputation and glory. Neon Circus got my hopes up then blew it. Hope 2020's Grand Prixs will be fun.
