And has a firmament glass like dome over the top of the flat plane earth , Bible has hundreds of verses that point to this people just don’t read the word of God , never heard a peep about God from any of you which is kinda strange if you’re men and women of God don’t you think I mean I’m only a few years old in Christ so maybe nobody is suppose to mention Him

Hey Matt, one thing to consider when you're recovering nice RVs like that: most of them have hydraulic leveling jacks on the corners that can be operated independently, and they're usually tall enough to lift the front wheels off the ground. Next time you've got one low to the ground like that try raising the front with the jacks, it'll make your life much easier.

Or have someone who's midsection isn't a 55 gallon drum in a blue shirt wriggle under it ... Matt, I'm just kidding
If you ever run out of gas on Persnickety Trail and see an old Subaru recklessly careening towards you on two wheels flag me down. You can't have any of my gas but you can use my satphone to call Rory.

A good idea for your trailer batteries: solar battery tenders. They aren't really great for long-term usage, but if it's sitting in the sun and used ~once a week, it may be enough to keep it topped up. Bonus points towards not letting the battery go flat, too. Longevity!

You don't need Andersen connectors, just a tiny trickle charger powered off the running lights would be fine. An Andersen would be useful if you wanted to skip the battery entirely, but then every vehicle would have to have one. If you adapt a little trickle charger to the running lights, it'll stay topped up while being towed by anything.

I had a 98 chevy 3/4 ton 2wd pickup. I had 2 tractor inner tubes full of sand around the wheel wells every winter. I never got stuck, just because of the weight.

That trailer axle has a habit of bending offroad.
Imagine a smaller wheel up in the air in front of the wheel that keeps bending.
That way any big obstacle/step wouldn't hit the main wheel square and get hung up but could roll off the smaller wheel.

I was so impressed at the RV recovery in the driveway. That looked so soft and buried and I was thinking there was no way blue steel was gonna pull that out like it did. You rigged it JUST RIGHT low to the ground, had Lizzy do exactly the right thing. I guess the weight of the offroad wrecker probably helped a lot in this scenario keeping the trailer planted and more weight on blue steels traction wheels. But dang, that came out so sweet. I would have wasted a lot of effort digging around that RV even if I had the same equipment. Just shows you that experience knows. I would have bet money that your plan would fail, even tho I respect your experience. I just could not see it. I love being wrong, because it teaches me new things. Databyter

Hey, I have an idea: Use some Anderson connectors on the winch and another dangling in the back of the banana and MORRvair. Then you can hook up any battery you might have without the silly clamps, or use the vehicle battery *when* you forget a jump box. Or do it MORR style and get some super-long jumper cables and just go from starter battery of vehicle back to the winch.
I know, I know. It just came to me.

the only problem with Anderson plug to keep the trailer battery charged is that you then need a connector on every vehicle that is likely to tow the trailer .. given the ( usually ) sunny climate better idea might be a small solar panel on the battery / winch housing

    • @philb5593
      @philb5593 10 месяцев назад +1

Seriously, they get a ton of sun, it won’t take a very big panel to keep it charged.

You can buy a 12v to 15V converter very cheaply that will charge that battery even with the voltage drop on the trailer plug. Doesn't even need to be a hot wire, just run the tail lights when running.

Here in Texas we call those grass burrs. I had a patch in my back yard that was about 4x8’ long. 2 choices to get rid of them. Burn them or dig them up. My lawnmower folks dug up a 8x12’ patch and replaced with sod. Dog kept getting them in her paws. Needles can break off and cause infection. I no longer have to worry about them as when the grass came up no grass burrs anymore.

Goatherds were a curse when I was a kid back in the 50’s. They were all over and ruined a lot of bike tires. We were constantly patching tubes. And you really knew it when you stepped on one in bare feet. They hurt going in and especially when being pulled out.

Also, it may come as a surprise, but many motor homes aren't built well enough to move much. 1 mile of wear on a car is like 20 miles of wear on a motor home, maybe. Imagine hanging cabinets with staples into upholstered foam board type quality, but everywhere.

With regards to the recovery of the Motorhome, you said it was not off road and you were correct in America. Here in the UK, we call a road a road whereas I believe you call it a pavement. We walk on pavements and drive on roads. So, seeing as the vehicle was off the road on the soft stuff, I would call it offroad 😄😄😄

Boy do I remember goatheads from my days bicycling on dirt roads in Albuquerque as a kid. This was before tuffys and sealants. My bike shop guy told me to take an old inner tube, open it up on the inner circumference and wrap it around the new tube to prevent more flats. That helped but some of the bigger goatheads still got through.

Sandburs or sand spurs (Cenchrus spinifex cav) are totally different that goat heads (Tribulus terrestris). Sandburs are grassy weeds and the burrs grow on a stalk. Goatheads grow on a creeping vine and grow everywhere in the southwest where the soil has been disturbed. A single goat head plant can grow into a mat covering a large area. I've seen a single goat head plant over 12 feet in diameter. Each goathead seed pod actually contains 3-4 individual seeds.
