John King was an incredible manager. No complicated tactics. He kept a simple game, simple.

Interesting how the Crewe game in 89 keeps getting a mention. Both teams got promoted and the atmosphere was fantastic. I remember getting there late having got the National coach from Leeds. It drew a line under the past and projected Tranmere to an incredible period. A similar game doesn't seem too far off now.

Each time I see all those games (I went to all of them) a smile and a tier comes ... I did not want him sacked in 1980, so when he came back in 87 I was made up ... Some of my memories; Gary Williams and staying in the League, when we went to Wembley in the Football League Centenary Just falling short against Notts Forest, and Bolton at Wembley in 91, I'm not ashamed to say that I cried because of overwhelming pride in our club that day! and of course The League Cup Semi Final at P.P. it should have been 3-0 ! Rest In Piece King Johnny.
