Unknown Gamer yeah I know but it’s not the same. The waterblock has the different little things it goes through and it’s getting pumped in not being poured.
Those stickers are not "bogus". They can refuse to honor warranty if the repairs/modifications are not done at an authorized location. It is stated in the warranty, which you can find and read for yourself before purchasing the product (which you agree to, by purchasing the product). It's usually based on law, not what the manufacturer tells you. In Australia, for example, they can't refuse to honour a warranty if a sticker is damaged or removed.
Warranty is a contract. By US law, you have the right to view the warranty before purchase. After that, your agreeing to it. Even the Motherboard article that goes on it's tirade against this practice states "The statute itself states "for example, a provision in the warranty such as, 'use only an authorized ABC dealer' or 'use only ABC replacement parts,' is prohibited where the service or parts are not provided free of charge pursuant to the warranty." " actually doesn't do shit. Because they DO provide the service for free in the warranty time frame. These lawyers know what they are doing. I personally do not know of Australia and it's laws, but America is intentionally left grey and murky for businesses and other special interests to take advantage of it.
I under volted Vega64 and I did get cooler temps (45c) but as far as frame rates go, it started to blur. Removing blur, it shuttered. Whereas applying more volts, graphics became better and smoother at the cost of more heat. I used Radeon Software Version 20.10.35.02 with stock clocks at 1630 Mhz. With the cooler block and Afterburner v4.6.215745, ramped up to 1702 Mhz. Temps 55c/60c. My opinion is Vega is just a card that needs high volts.
Music and editing is good. Just dim the purple backlights a bit and remove all the fixtures from the frame and you're all set. I'm not saying I don't like the lighting, it's just to present in my opinion. Love the channel.
Vega + water block + undervolt = 1700MHz+ even 1750 on core and 1100MHz + on HBM which further widens the gap over 1080 and closes the gap over 1080ti. All while lowering consumption. Come on Jayz you went half effort on this. If You gonna do a water vid do it right. Undervolt/ overvolt full power overclock. The whole shebang. We aren't water cooling just for pretty looks you know.
Personally dude Im cautious bios modding not that I wouldn't do it but we/I don't know what damage It might do In as time passes. still I'll probably wait till 2021 to pump out that extra 15%. I game mostly at 1440p tho so I can understand people wanting 4k
Sorry for replying on such an old post, but what did you set yer vega 64 to. I keep getting black screen crash to desktop with mine mostly with unity games, but a couple regular titles too. I dont know if it is the undervolt or what. I am Stock gpu clocks with an undervolt of 1065. Memory is OC to 1050..
@@barrelracer318 I haven't really bothered with a core overclocking much. 1750 is where I am at on my LC edition. Have not changed it. I've just upped the power limit. HBM however I run at 1150MHz. About the edge of stability in my case. Vega is bandwidth bottlenecked up until about 1100mhz so HBM overclocking is a must.

Imo the aircooled Vega 64 is pretty sweet looking, the watercooled 64 is a bit too plain and the 56 uses the classic Radeon stock cooler design, so nothing special there. ...And the Frontier Edition coolers' colour schemes are god awful, if you ask me.
As far as B-Roll footage goes, that was probably some of the sexiest I've seen. Not to mention the correspondence between the pitch and angle changes. Details like that make the video just seem even more professional. Top notch work guys.
If you downclock a vega to 1.4ghz you apparently hit the efficiency curve of the 14nm process. Above that (their out of box speeds for example) throw power efficiency out the window. As a result lowering clocks could save A LOT of heat output
i mean since he thinks vega is pointless i doubt we will see it from this channel. sad that big channels like this and linus are favoring nvidia whether they are shills or not
Id rather lose 3-5% fps and run it at half power draw. "why not just get a 1080 then as the power draw on that is so much better." because freesync, application specific overclocking profiles, gpu passthrough for vm's, hbc if you somehow run out of vram, no stupid bridge for crossfire, low power draw of hbm2 allows for vram oc without any aditional powerdraw (.25 amps is nothing), and most importantly, there are way more amd sponsored titles out there right now. Also its worth the test, because science.
I actually like that we can see the lights and stands in the background. the production quality with the peek behind the curtain is why you've become my favorite tech channel over the past year or so
I really like your tear down vids and your adding water blocks vids, your continued improvement in video and audio quality is much appreciated, nice work Jay.
Watch the vlog that came out a few days ago. Jay shows the new FS7 professional camera they are using versus the prosumer FS5 he has been using for almost a year.
As much as I admire the new architecture(fueled by GamersNexus' great videos) ,and support amd as a whole, this card, as is, is a bad buy.If I was building a 2nd rig just for the brag rights, and had 3 grand to waste, sure, I'd buy 2 vega 64 and run them crossfire watercooled. But as an average undergraduate student (and everyone else to be exact), it's a dumb buy.
Jay, stick this water block on vega 56, the one we all REALLY WANT TO SEE!! :) Pretty please? I'd do it but nobody sends me anything because my channel is new and my production quality sucks. :P
There is no reason to watercool a vega56 because its board total draw is limited to 300w anyway so it really cant overclock high enough to warrant watercooling.
I gotta say - I enjoyed the montage immensely. It looked like you gave it that bit of extra care. Also, Vega with the block on looks absolutely gorgeous. 1-slot thin, with the original backplate, hnngg. Absolutely stunning looking industrial design.
Jay have you done any under volting on Vega? A few articles claim that under volting helps with clock stability when overclocking because the cards usually hit their power target pretty quick.
I'm not brand loyal and am currently running a watercooled ryzen 1700/rx 580 system, but vega isn't even remotely on my list when a person can pick up a MSI gtx 1080 ek on jet for $545.
Nycrea but throwing away the cheap ass black cooler on the standard version is a service to humanity. Same with all the cheap blower coolers on nvidia cards. No point in paying for over-engineered fans and heatsinks if they will be replaced by a waterblock.
I don't think that NVidia's Reference Blowers have been all that cheap since the 780. Hell some of the Aftermarket blowers are cheaper than the reference design and there is some asthetic taste in the blowers... not that I won't be removing the blower on my 1080Ti FE and replacing it with the EK Block.
Mark Ewing i meant the aftermarket blowers. They mostly use the reference pcb and are compatible with water blocks. You can check the compatibility list on ekwb. Currently the cheapest 1080ti in germany is the zotac blower, goes for around 680 euro. Vega 64, black one, is 649.
Finished my build, Pump to EKWB Vega 64, to XSPC RX120 rad, to Swiftech Apogee XL cooled 1700X R7processor, to XSPC 360slim rad in In white Win 303 Aurora case, running Giel EVO X 3200ram 16GB, 128Gb M.2 system memory, 1TB blue storage HDD, 850W PSU. It runs SOOO much better now vs. air, less jittering 20% higher scores on time spy (7938 score on GPU), runs at 44C maxed out, best part, no jet taking off noise! Pro tip! I flashed to the water bios, it offers higher clocks as I get 1717 to 1773mhz and 1000mhz ram under full load.
The purple spotlight thingy on the left, makes some annoying face lightning. And wow this new Sony 4K camera is really nice, needs work on the focus stuff tho :P
On topic tho: No it's not worth it. Anything that gets you into the 1080TI price range in automatically not worth it. For games the TI will destroy the 64, and for mining you don't care about water cooling your card. At current prices Vega it simply a no buy. Unfortunate, especially seeing how good Ryzen is. Oh well.
darkholyPL You could get more hashes by raising clocks for sure. Water blocks will allow more better temperatures for better PC. A custom BIOS would be needed for extreme miners. And also don't forget the time GPUs mine for. They don't just mine for a few hours. Days and days of mining take place usually. Expect heat to build up.
Yeah uh.. No? They perform about the same, some games 1080FE does better, some games Vega 64 does better. Heck, even an OCed and UVed Vega 56 can keep up with a 1080.
i always include the cost of freesync vs gsync in my buying options. its about 200 euros in favor of freesync in my country between equal quality panels. And since IN MY OPINION any serious gaming shouldnt be done without variable refresh rate i chose vega 64 watercooled and freesync.
Controlled 100% by Google, your options in the dev panel are "monetize" or "no monetize". Also, they gotta pay the designer that made the new bold version of the RUclips logo millions of dollars this week so... Somebody really needs to convince the good RUclipsrs to jump ship to a better platform already.
modmutt well actually if you're a partnered channel. You can decide how many ads you want, hence why there's sometimes literally 6 different mid roll ads on a 10 minute video
Just buy a 1080 or 1080 Ti and call it a day. They are more powerful, use far less power and the custom cards look 100 times better. AMD shouldn't even speculate the new cards anymore, they should just focus on processors and build graphic chips until they make a world shaking breakthrough in technology. As far as I am concerned, they lied to people for 2+ years and lead people on to believe that Vega was going to be a price shattering card that delivers. It did not, not in any way.
Beast6228 its not their fault that miners buy them in truck loads, and retailers bump up the price because of it. when ethereum dies the price will drop and by then aftermarket cards will be here. Also freesink is way cheaper so its worth for me 50 or 100 dollares more for the vega. I have a 970 right now and its still good. But in a year or so i might get a volta navi or one of thid aftermarket vegas
Beast6228 you always see cards prices go up when there's little stock. At the moment you can get both the 64 and 56 for msrp in the U.K., I wouldn't personally buy a reference card, but they are there if people want them. If you need an AMD card, the value isn't that bad
+Hugo Olloman They're actually still about £20 over MSRP but yeah they're avaliable at reasonable prices. I just don't want a reference card, waiting for aftermarket, then I'll probs pick it up as an upgrade from the 390X - I have FreeSync monitors so I'm not getting a 1080.
Jamessuperfun you don't even need a freesync monitor. Invest in a good aftermarket 1080Ti and the fps you gain will beat any benefits of a Vega64 + Freesync combo.
Shane Khiu I'm well aware of the performance gains, but I'd have significantly worse input lag or tearing based on VSync, or pay to replace them with GSync monitors. FreeSync isn't about low performance systems.
Amazing ambient background music. Like smooth jazz-fusion instrumentals on a long elevator ride. Then, things get all Ace-Combat upbeat around the 5min mark. Great vid.
I think I've never really thought much about water cooling in my builds. But watching your videos lately really make me want to buy and try it out. You make it look very easy =) Might be the nice work station though. My work bench stays clean for about a day. lol. Keep up the cool videos. thanks!
I have been waiting for this video. I'm disappointed that it doesn't have as much as an improvement as the 480 had on water but now I have a place to put this in my head. The question really comes down to whether or not I should pay more for less and save on the monitor with Freesync or if I should pay about the same for more then pay more for a monitor with Gsync. There is no clear winner. Thanks again for the video. Coconut Monkey is getting better every time haha
@JayzTwoCents I have been watching you for years man and to be honest. This is one of the most beautiful videos I have seen yet alone on you're channel. Dammit. Ya beat me to it Jay! Just got my Threadripper and Vega 64 blocks from EKWB Monday. I should have my build done this weekend. All Nickel Blocks with the Nickel backplate.
Jay, In Wattman if you left click on the actual P-State column header then you can change your clock settings from Max to Min. This changes the behavior of the card to always run at the set speed (min) as opposed to turbo up to the speed setting (max). -Cheers

The music! Awesome!
It makes it even more expensive!!!
blame the miners
miners have nothing to do with vega
Doesn't the 56 also draw a lot of power? Is it really worth it for them?
Eric Wood undervolting and overclocking HBM2 does the trick to keep up miming performance while lowering power consumption.
and consumes even more powerrrrrrr
The purple spotlight thingy on the left, makes some annoying face lightning.
And wow this new Sony 4K camera is really nice, needs work on the focus stuff tho :P
Dude the production quality is insane!!!!!!! Nice job Jay and Nic
I really like the production value of your montage. Appreciate the amount of effort it took for you to produce it!
That wasn't a montage. That was a porn.
Tech Porn.
You can boil some tea in your custom loop
Which camera have you been using for the video ? Very nice filming/colors/plans !
That slow motion shot of the block filling up was gorgeous O_o
I just picked up a mug and hoodie. Great design choice! Enjoying the quality and quantity of content, mate. Keep up the awesome work!
This is probably one of the sexiest videos I have ever watched and I am not ashamed by my arousal
Song ? 2:54
franKoIACC Pornhub
I think it's called The Annoying Click.
@JayzTwoCents yes please tell us which RF track you chose at epidemic sound????
yes, give some credit to the artists
I am getting Vega limited edition air $100 cheap than 1080.......
So............
Spark99 Gaming How and where?
in his dreams?
Where I shop for parts I found a standard Vega 56 for only $50USD more than a GTX 1080.
That's a pretty good deal..... right?
JayJapanB NO😂 Vega 56 < 1080
Just got a new Vega 64 for 340 USD.
I love how thin a water block makes these normally 2-2.5 slot cards. Perfect for compact cases.
Damn, The new lighting is pretty sick Jay. I do like this setting more than the office look
9:08 "The Ryzen temperatures" teeheehee
Corey Smith What you mean? Ryzen runs famously cool... You mean Bulldozer? Or.. Intel 7700k?
dont you get it Andrew Harrop? he said the rising temepratures but sounded like ryzen temperatures
Andrew Harrop /r woosh
On topic tho: No it's not worth it. Anything that gets you into the 1080TI price range in automatically not worth it. For games the TI will destroy the 64, and for mining you don't care about water cooling your card.
At current prices Vega it simply a no buy. Unfortunate, especially seeing how good Ryzen is. Oh well.
darkholyPL
You could get more hashes by raising clocks for sure.
Rick ́n Sick No, the 1080 is not better. At least, not the FE edition.
Alexander Stormdahl Maybe a normal 1080, not the TI.
i always include the cost of freesync vs gsync in my buying options. its about 200 euros in favor of freesync in my country between equal quality panels. And since IN MY OPINION any serious gaming shouldnt be done without variable refresh rate i chose vega 64 watercooled and freesync.
pornhub doesnt do it for me anymore, gotta return here every time :/
That shot of the block filling around 6:35 is just beautiful
Hey JayzTwoCents, congrats on the video. This was really pro work. Soundtrack, slow motion, everything. Keep up the good work.
also what is this B roll. this is pornography. i subbed for a tech channel. reported for nudity and inappropriate content.
2nd May of 2019 : Vega 56 244€ 😂
yes, just picked one as well, and also a vega 64 on EK water
that's my birthday
I got a frontier for $300
@@user-nq3xi4wm2k Nice, it's not as fast as an RX 5700 XT, but 16GB HBM2 are no slouch either :)
I jazzled in my panelonas
Jay, that is a very sick montage. Please keep it up! :)
This 10 min video includes 4 .... YES 4 .... ads.
Rene that's not bad really. 1 at the beginning, 1 at the end and 2 mid rolls. Some people way worse and put at least 6 ads on their 10 minute videos
Ublock
Dude that music is so cool! The purple one. And the montage was so good. Master.
Jay has joined Team Crispy :D, the production on this channel keeps getting better and better, well done guys, well done!
Excellent video quality. One thing to consider is that some people may not like fan noise, especially if running more than one.
Amazing ambient background music.
Like smooth jazz-fusion instrumentals on a long elevator ride.
Then, things get all Ace-Combat upbeat around the 5min mark.
Great vid.
4:36 made me chuckle x) showing us, he did infact, apply the thermal paste correctly!
I think I've never really thought much about water cooling in my builds. But watching your videos lately really make me want to buy and try it out. You make it look very easy =) Might be the nice work station though. My work bench stays clean for about a day. lol. Keep up the cool videos. thanks!
I bought 6 vega FE cards with 6 EK Acetal blocks. I'll make a video when it's set up. Thanks for all the vids Jay.
I am truly happy and somewhat proud of you're accomplishments here on youtube. Keep on kicking ass and by the way add a NFSW warning to these kinds of videos because good God that was some serious tech porn!
Man what a well put together video! I am not into builds because I don't know squat on how to do it but those images made me want one of those cards with the cooling block! lol! Awesome video guys! That card looked so sexy with the cooling in slowmo! Thank you and keep up the amazing work!
Epic video JaysTwoCents! I'm gonna try wait as long as possible for the pricing to normalize. If it doesn't, I dunno what I'm gonna do, sit in a corner and cry with the voices in my head
Dammit. Ya beat me to it Jay! Just got my Threadripper and Vega 64 blocks from EKWB Monday. I should have my build done this weekend. All Nickel Blocks with the Nickel backplate.
The image quality and production value is amazing in this video, Please, keep creating things like this
this video was really well shot and edited. Like better than like 95% of your other videos. Keep it up :)
Am I the only one watching at 4K in a black Hanes marina and navy blue Gildan undies? LOL
Lovely vid Jay. Really smooth.
Holy shit, the camera work and editing in this video were fucking amazeballs.
Your editing is getting better and better Jay. That montage was a treat :)
Jay, In Wattman if you left click on the actual P-State column header then you can change your clock settings from Max to Min. This changes the behavior of the card to always run at the set speed (min) as opposed to turbo up to the speed setting (max).
-Cheers
Those glam shots and lighting, A++ keep up the great videos Jay!
