Wow they really nailed the city. I thought Kamurocho was pretty similar to its real life counterpart, but I didn't expect it to be *this* similar. I thought that they took some inspiration here and there, but it's pretty much not only the same vibe, but some streets look damn near identical.
It’s really surprising, especially upon a first visit. Check out the other video I have up that goes through more of the area the games cover. Dotonbori in Osaka is the same way, though I think the differences in scale are more noticeable. I should have a video up comparing that to Sotenbori pretty soon.
Well, some say if you know your way around kamurocho then you know your way around kabukicho even though you've never been there Meanwhile I haven't learnt the way yet
It has become a tourist destination for several years now and is no longer a dangerous place. There are some famous Yakuza Mansion nearby. Now the really dangerous place has moved to Kobe.
Yakuzas don’t bother normal people unless you have underground business. There’s basically no danger where Yakuzas are because they had power over unruly people like street gangs. We have problems with those people and foreign mafias since Yakuzas have been underpowered by anti-yakuza laws, which is incorporated in the scenario of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
The yakuza does still exist just in less number and they have no reason to bother you this is even true of kobe. Unless you are rude or don't show respect they won't bother you the real danger in kabukicho is the street hosts
@Florida Man they will lure you in to their bars and clubs with cheap drinks then bill you through the nose and threaten you if you refuse. There are actually some side quests in the games about this scam. So yeah ignore the street hosts and research the legit bars.
@@ancientflounder They changed the sega logo because i saw the same logo in other parts of japan , they change a lot of things but the place is pretty identical if you take in consideration the year that it was made.
Just started Kiwami 2 and this video blew my mind! I had a feeling that it was based on a real location. Thank you so much for this video, I will definitely take my time walking about and exploring now!
i really would love to go to japan one day! not quite sure now where i will go so i thought maybe i should play yakuza for the japanese vibe and when i finally go there everything seems a bit more familiair
Eeee!!! I was there at the same time you were, I went to the Robot Restaurant for my birthday and we spent the rest of the week going to Shibuya, Akiba, Odaiba, Akasaka and many more places. It was really fun, I really miss it. At least there are no invisible walls, or else I wouldn't have even made it to Shinjuku.
So for someone who visited shinjuku once. I won’t mind finding a game that I could roam around to bring back memories of the place. Which would you suggest? Yakuza or another franchise? If yakuza which one would you suggest? One of your game clips even has an apa hotel in it.
Yakuza 6 and Judgment have the most accurate maps so far, I would say. Those would be good if you want to explore around a bit and just take in the sights. Yakuza: Like a Dragon's Kamurocho has a few things that are more accurate to real life. But, that game also completely changes some parts of the map.
Eating and drinking, mostly. You can do that either within Kabukicho or take a short walk over to Golden Gai. That spot has a fair amount of places. Personally, I never felt in any danger, but I also had folks with me who knew spots to go to. As with any place, if something feels sketchy, then get out of there. I don’t think it would be that big of a problem, though. Something like Yelp or Tabelog would be good to point you towards legit spots.
Yeah, pretty much. It’s in approximately the same spot. The only thing in that area that would kind of match the size of Millennium Tower would be Kabukicho Tower, but that’s around where RIZAP/Mach Bowl would be.
I would love if Rockstar made a new GTA with better graphics and more stuff to do than GTA5 but now it's based out of Tokyo man it would be awesome but I would love it they made it 80s or 90s vibes I wouldn't mind present time either

Cool !
I hope there are no invisible walls in kabukicho
Lol
I’m Japanese but sadly, there are😞
Well, the one thing that _really_ stands out to me is the how much more narrow the streets are in Yakuza
I’d say they felt more narrow in Kabukicho. That’s just me, though.

I'll have to investigate Kobe and see what they got going on there.

@@ancientflounder so did you run into SUSPICOUS MAN that was mad at you for "Struttin' around like you own the place"?
Me going to japan: kabukicho is a gud place
A random guy with a patch in the eye: YO KIRYU CHAN!
*Goes into dragon style*
I have to go to Japan before I die. And this will be the 1st place I would go to
It’s worth the visit, for sure.
If ya aint a yakuza fan
Its worth it
But if you are a yakuza fan
IS FUCKING HEAVEN
Yes, same here!!
Did you see a guy in a full white suit and red undershirt?
No, but he might have been hiding inside Gindaco, grabbing some takoyaki. 😅
You didn't have not to wreck the convenience store man
Channeling Kiryu leads to large-scale conbini destruction.

I want more yakuzas going around in Kabukicho with glassy costumes
CHOTTO MATTE YO
All fun and games until you meet mr.shakedowns
oh no
"Legend" style
Went there one time and a red exclamation mark alarm suddenly appeared above my head, so I had to get the hell out of there.
When I visit Japan this and mount akina is what I have to vist
It’s about 3 1/2 hours to get up to Mt. Haruna from Tokyo. That’d be a nice overnight trip during Autumn.
If theres one thing they got wrong its how clean the streets are in real life
This was so awesome... I hope to do this walk myself in kabukicho a few years.
Hope you can travel over there soon and explore. 💪🏻
Even the people look like NPCs.
One of the series where I don't mind just walking around and taking it all in.
Brought a smile to my face

thankyou for making this comparison video :). hope you will make one in sotenbori as well
Don’t go chasing the yakuza. It’s not safe
Tourist want to fight.
Awesome video my dude
Thank you. 👍🏻
Tokyo is a real place?
It is, though at times, it feels like a weird fever dream. lol
Why has no one done a Kiryu cosplay in Kabukicho? Is it because you would risk getting your ass kicked by the real Yakuza? >_
There’s not that much Yakuza. Since 1992 they’ve been given some very hard time by authorities.
I'd probably will cosplay him when I get there

Great video!
No random fights?
I kept waiting for someone to yell at me and the music to hit, but nope. 😅
The main different is that bicycle is not available in Kabukicho

I was always wondering what is Serena Bar in Kabukicho looks like, guess this video just show that there isn't even a bar in that place lol
This is very cool! If I may ask, what kind of thing you do there as a tourist? I heard it can be a dangerous place
Eating and drinking, mostly. You can do that either within Kabukicho or take a short walk over to Golden Gai. That spot has a fair amount of places.

I feel like kamurocho or kabukicho in real life are my hometown even though i never left this country
Nice vidéo !!!
question is how many thugs/yakuzas have you encountered?
In real life? Probably none. Or if they were, they hide it very well.
So the Millennium Tower IRL is a large hotel building with Godzilla? Makes me want to reserve a room there one day for vacation
Yeah, pretty much. It’s in approximately the same spot. The only thing in that area that would kind of match the size of Millennium Tower would be Kabukicho Tower, but that’s around where RIZAP/Mach Bowl would be.
@@ancientflounder RIZAP is a real chain btw
Can't wait to visit myself
I hope you didn't come across Mr. Shakedown.
Great job
Kamurocho is better
I would love if Rockstar made a new GTA with better graphics and more stuff to do than GTA5 but now it's based out of Tokyo man it would be awesome but I would love it they made it 80s or 90s vibes I wouldn't mind present time either
OIIIIIIIIIIIIII TEME!!!
Which yakuza is he playing?
I used Yakuza 6 for most of the footage. The stuff at the very end was from the first demo for Judge Eyes/Judgement.
@@ancientflounder ah got it. Which yakuza is your favorite?
I probably have to go with Yakuza 0. Solid gameplay, lots to do, and probably the best story in the series.
This yakuza is yakuza 10 so realistic
I want to stay at apa hotel
I just hope you don't get a fight every 5 seconds please
Nah, it seemed pretty difficult to aggro anyone there.
So run so you don't get into a random unnecessary fight lol
