You have a new subscriber. I spent a lot of my early years researching religion and landed on Buddhism after reading Hinduism. I really enjoyed Hinduism. I read the Bhagavad Gita translation by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada Paramansa but didn't feel like I'd be welcome in that religion because it's so ancient and established in an engrained culture, much like the Abrahamic ones I was raised in. I liked Gautama's approach of not trusting him but finding out for oneself. Reading Jiddu Krishnamurti felt like stripping the theology from Hinduism and analysing the core concepts. He helped me a lot. I would say he saved my life ultimately. You remind me of that approach. Thank you for doing this.

And when I say the vast majority of people should see a therapist, I really mean it. So many people, a lot of them men but women too, are walking around with tons of mental disorders and negative feelings eating away at them. By media and their surroundings they've been led to believe that seeking psychiatric help is something only crazy people have to do, and they're not crazy, so obviously they should just let it fester and tear their lives apart when they're 40 like everyone else does... Rather than actually addressing their problems and getting help.
Edit: In my experience, growing up in poor areas and financial situations, and thus having dealt with A LOT of mentally ill people (including myself and my family) Its the ones who claim they don't need or want anything to do with therapy that are ALWAYS the ones who need it the most.

@@FETTYNOP The point of Destiny using the "fuck wearing a dress" example is that it is expected of him as a male (they were talking about falling into groups around this time) to not wear a dress. I really respect that he's willing to shut the fuck up and think for a second to find better wording etc., that's not something I hear very often, it obviously disrupts the conversation a bit but at the same time it's easier to consume and understand, and it's also humanizing him in a way

its fine to think that way as a broad assumption but it ignores context.
yes a helicoptor to the mountain top robs you of learning or exercizing the ability to make the climb, much like 'its about the journey not the view at the top'.
but if you're stuck in a dark or sad place where the journey is too far or the process forgotten or never taken before, it can be useful to use a 'cheat' of a substance to force yourself to be in a state of 'im AT the top of the mountain, now i remember/know what this is like, i can do this'.

    • @alexmeyer8133

Because typically in his streams he plays the part of a therapist. I think a lot of people are lead into believing that that psychiatrist = therapist/psychologist.

Basically he is more qualified than a a psychologist who just does psychotherapy.
