      Dr.K has a lot of the science wrong... calories was not an "averaged" number it was actually taking into account the ATYPICAL individual. Work from home has actually had A TON of disadvantages for productivity, to the point people are inventing ways to fake being at their stations and in general production has dropped massively.
      There are recommended calorie ranges across the gamut for specific individuals. But no, the VAST MAJORITY of peopel only take 2000 calories at day period.

    What Destiny said about emotions being non-random, is true. I give my Dad a lot of shit for being racist, but the reasons he gives are extremely justifiable, to be perfectly honest. He owns a small company that used to employ a lot of Italian & Irish people in NYC, the local population, and everything was mostly fine. He moved the company to a different location because of the 08 housing crisis, and the local population was mostly black. He hired locally, and his employees stole from him, productivity was bad, they were rude employees, etc. The business almost went under because of it. He has an extremely negative disposition towards black people "now", that never existed before. He is fine towards other races, and the local population he currently hires is white & Latino, and has little issues. But he 100% swears off ever hiring "specifically" black people, and continues to be not racist against any other race of people.
    It's shitty, but he has "literal data to back up his claims". It's extremely hard to fault him, where his business legitimately almost failed, because he was being reasonable and not selectively hiring based on race. And every time he tries to "give a black person a chance", and correct his faults, with almost 100% accuracy, out of potentially just bad luck, that new employee inevitably steals from the company, and has to be fired.
    You can call it fucked up all you want. But he very legitimately almost went bankrupt, and his new behavior is a learned behavior. Shitty, but certainly learned & non-random.

      Does you dad think they stole bc they were black or bc they were poor and were raised in a shitty house hold and just so happened to be black?

    • @TheWhisperingPenis
      @TheWhisperingPenis Год назад +5

      @iRpersonality What would the difference be? Either way you would avoid Black people. I get there's a difference in outlook, but either way most people would say you're racist. Which is why people like his Dad will likely never care.

    • @RGS578
      @RGS578 Год назад +43

      @@irpersonality2673 I gave him that argument. He said that all the Italian & Irish people he hired were poor too. And the local people he hires currently are poor as well. He has less, to no issues with well-off black people. He says it's a cultural issue, specific to poor black people.

    • @RGS578
      @RGS578 Год назад

      @@TheWhisperingPenis There is no difference in the ends, really. The only difference is that he's not just, "Some random dumb-fuck that arbitrarily hates a specific race for no reason."
      It's more like, "Some guy that worked for something for 15+ years, and almost had it ripped from his hands in the span of 1 year. And by some form of inaccurately calculating why that event took place, blames it on something that was correlated to the event, but not directly causal." Call it a flawed, but learned, coping mechanism.
      The ends are the same, but I don't think he falls into the category of the old-timey, stereotypical, "we-don't-take-kindly-to-folks-like-you" 70 year old white hillbilly with a shotgun.

    First time hearing this concept phrased like that, but that's exactly how my life has played out the last couple years. I pulled myself out of this pit of anxiety fuelled despair through taking on my own challenges one step at a time. From literally being a suicidal teenager with no motivation to do anything, in just about 3 years, I managed to get a good paying, full-time job, buy my first car, make a lot of new friends, and transform my own life. So I agree fully that the core mechanism driving my improvement was a shift from passive stress to active stress, and that all the techniques I learned through therapy of how to deal with my anxiety was just a means of rebalancing the stresses in my life.

    People just assume that poor socialisation skills is lack of practice - how about nutrition and health?
    Since I’ve started dealing with my health issues (many I had no idea I had ) and getting into the longevity community, I’m happier, calmer, clearer , funnier, overall better to be around therefore I’m more confident and more likely to be engage with others.
    Such a blind spot in the mental health / medical / social science arena.

    I really underestimated how much passing people on the street or talking to cashiers did for my mood. I like my own company way more than the average person, but during the pandemic, that lack of seeing people live their own lives (on top of seeing extroverts become miserable) really wore down my love of life despite it not directly affecting too much in my own life.
