It's not so much about being professional per say, it's about being relatable to the patient speech wise so they can lower their guard and what not, also he's a very casual chill guy if you've watched his stream or his other vids like this! XD

Well you see, some of the best and most constructive therapy, isn’t streamed for patient confidentiality. It takes balls to LIVESTREAM or make videos on therapy. Looking to other people’s therapy isn’t a good way to resolve or use it as catharsis for your own therapy.
Unfortunately therapy takes going to a lot of different people until you meet one that works for you specifically. And in the US not all people are able to get therapy because of health insurance issues.

I love this therapist. He makes sure that lily feels comfortable and doesn’t just jump in to like sensitive subjects. He sort of eases in to the topic and shows body language that he’s not judging her at all. I completely respect therapist and I commend them for the great job that they are doing.
therapists are epic. just because how in depth and high level their job can be. learning how to make someone comfortable for instance can be one of the hardest things to do. its always very impressive to see how they do their job
people hate her because she has a easy life even though she doesn't do anything meaning to herself to the world or to society in short word is based on jealousy I don't hate her, but I won't watch her I find her friend worse than her that pokimane I think she has traits of a manipulative girl
@@AgainstThisWorld But that feeling that she doesn't "do anything" comes from somewhere. It's when people see the end result that I think inspires jealousy. Everyone who has a computer or the internet has it easy compared to 50% of the entire world's population. Yet people in 1st world countries suffer more from suicides and depression than in poor countries. There are a lot of depressed people streaming on twitch (as well as people who have committed suicides that live on social media). If you're not happy with your life, you won't be after you become a streamer either.
@Burak Ormanoglu Destiny is a rare example. He has been happy his whole life and he has never had any mental issues. Those people exist in all kinds of fields and they're not limited to only twitch. He appreciates what he has and I believe he would appreciate what he has regardless of streaming.

@@AquilaPainWhy I'm not 100% sure but I think @Quadril is referring to the way Dr K's observations are trying to make Lily realise how great she is, she is the "food" in a restaurant, even when she thinks that on the outside she is ugly, not deserving of her fame or her fans who always tune in to watch her. Dr K is saying that she has value in herself and her actual personality and what she does. He wants her to see that no matter what her outward presentation is (like the service at a restaurant), that the real reason people are there is for her and that what she does and who she is - what she does has value and helps people. For the first hour or so they have been discussing the ways that her sense of worth has suffered, related to her childhood [and her breakup which gave her attention on the internet also lead to her having more fans which she feels undeserving of, because in some way those people "showed up" due to her breakup; but actually 99% of her fans like her for her] Dr K is trying to make her see that "Lily 2" who is the part of her that is afraid of being a disappointment/doesn't feel she deserves her fame, that she should accept and reassure that part of herself and believe in her value - as she would reassure a fellow streamer in her shoes.
Lilly is one of those content creators I don't watch at all anymore, but I'll occasionally drop by her streams for a few minutes to see if she's changed at all since the last decade and I'm proud to see her always being her. I have to give mad respects to Lilly because I remember how, back when she hadn't even revealed her face yet, people were always going on about how "oh lilly's voice is so fake", "lilly's probably ugly irl", "lilly this lilly that". Yet... She's still managed to armor through a lot of shit through out all of these years. It's truly fascinating watching what people thought was this "feeble little girl" muscle through all of the psychological bullshit that's been thrown at her and keep pushing forward, I honestly can't think of many other content creators getting this much _undeserved_ hate and not quitting after a couple years. Key word "undeserved" because we all know everyone who's popular has haters, no shit, but I really don't think Lilly's done ANYTHING worthy of her getting all of the hate she's gathered through out all this time. It's sad, but it's good to see that she's strong enough to withstand all of this hatred. I'm definitely no simp, but I can respect Lilly as a fellow human being who knows how to take punches to the gut time and time again and keep getting up.

It scares me how many people hate Lily because of her voice, and how she shouldn’t be sad because she is “lucky”. Just because you’re “lucky”, or have money, doesn’t change the fact you can be sad when something horrible happens to you.
I agree that he's pretty incredible. But I think it's something he earned through years of work, study, and cultivating himself rather than a gift he just happens to have.
When my boyfriend cheated on me I wanted the world to know and hate on him. Lily is just so kind to feel bad for someone that hurt her I admire her so much

Like a cheater will ever say, because I'm greedy. Failure of a relationship can be blamed on two people; but the decision to cheat is ALL on the cheater.
When I got cheated on, I felt the same but I got hated for absolutely no reason at all. Some people don’t deserve so much hate but some who cheat for the sake of it deserve hatred.
Ok I understand nobody really cares but I need to say it. My ex boyfriend and I went to a dance and in that weekend he broke up with me over text. I never really found out but I'm pretty sure he was cheating on me with one of my friends and then was trying to dumb that friend and try to go for my best friend. That day was not fun because I was already dealing with so much crap. I'm so glad my best friend was there for me when it happened, I love her so much.

Lily's streams are comforting and funny. She honestly has the only stream that can kick all my stress out the door and make me feel so warm inside. I honestly just wish for her to be happy.
She's griefing for her relationship, the future she imagined of that relationship. She not only lost her boyfriend, but her best friend. The person she thought got her completely. The one she thought had her back. Being cheated on, when in a long term relationship after 2-3 years no cheating no problems is hard. Even worst if they are part of your friendship group. I went throught this quite young, when I was 18-20 years old. I was at university and seperated from my SO. So it was a lot easier to distract. But he was 100% part of her life. In her videos, future trips. Thats fucking horrible. I feel for Lily

margobyun Michael is super affectionate towards her and let’s her be around him as much as she wants. He embraces her hugs openly and she can pour her love onto him. Albert barely let her hug him and he would collaborate with girls while she was gone. All her friends knew Albert was no good.

God, I've watched Lily since early 2012, and I've never seen her like this. I'm really glad she felt comfortable enough to truly talk about her emotions and how she feels.
i think his style of therapy shows perfectly that you dont have to be empathic to be a good coach. he said it himself: his sociopathy scale is quite high, and yet he manages to do a very deep and cathartic session.
DatVocals! In a sense his sociopathy might help him - I get sad just hearing her talk about it and am not sure I could be objective with my questioning and approach as a result of that.
Sociopath's are incredibly observant of social cues, it is how they blend in with the emotional masses without truly feeling the same, imitation. They are incredible at picking things up subconsciously and using those things without any effort. An empath while being equally intuitive are unable to separate other peoples emotions from their own, they naturally take things more personally. His disconnect with his patient could be his advantage.

Props to Lily for talking about her real emotions in front of so many people for HOURS. My therapy session lasts for 45 minutes and some days I’ll feel SO exhausted and would never want to talk about my feelings for the rest of the day. She’s talking about something she avoided by drinking yet here she is, accepting her weakness. LILY U R SO STRONG WE LOVE U SM
Holy crap. 3 minutes in, and the amount of intuition this man used to in the moment he asked Lilly to explain to the audience the topic was BRILLIANT to see. 1) Was looking to get a base line of how comfortable she. 2) Saw she was, not at ALL comfortable, and that pushing to hard here was a bad idea. 3) Took a step back to talk about a more positive topic; Sleep. (Which, if you've ever done any research on sleep would be really obvious that this was a really good topic in which you could segway into a PLETHORA of deeper topics) 4) Very, very good balance of asking for specific/tangible answers and making her dig a little deeper for them. And this was in the first 3 minutes... SUPER sensitive with the person he's conversing with.
I'm a doctral clinical psychology student and I can tell you that this guy is the real deal. He has such an incredible way of building a therapeutic alliance with streamers. He makes it seem so effortless. I hope I can be half the clinician he is one day

Very thankful for all of this. I’m a marriage and family therapist intern and watching him helps me so much to learn how to ask better questions and what kinds of things he notices
I also think it’s important for us to see our favorite streamers/influencers in a more vulnerable (idk if that’s the tight word) light because I think it really helps us relate to them more as a person and it bring them down to our level in an emotional sense.

im so glad lily talked to this guy. you can tell by the end of this how much he seemed to watch over her and be protective of her. im so damn glad she had someone to finally allow her the space to have these deeper discussions and let out all her sorrows. ive always been interested in lily's opinions on stuff. she really is someone i relate too especially when it comes to being an empath and stuff like that. i really want lily to be so happy she really is one of the more sincere and loving people ive ever seen like it blows my mind.

I hate the way she thinks but you can't blame her for it. You can't blame someone for their mindset. But its really frustrating to see someone think like that. She blames herself for HIM not telling her his feelings and HIM cheating, damn that makes me angry.
Theres a lot of people that think that way. The downside of critically thinking too much about yourself is you begin to think that everything is your fault and on your shoulders. Ive been lucky enough to never be cheated on but every relationship thats ended in my life i think what I could’ve done better. Always without out a doubt is has to be my fault because if its not then i cant do anything to improve. I know how unhealthy it is and i can see that in people like lily but its been a struggle to come to terms with how i feel. I really felt lilys words about not feeling good enough and feeling lucky in life.

This honestly made me cry. As he picked apart the points that lily talked about that held underlying issues some of them hit so hard and so accurately in myself, and it really made me feel like I should also be aware of these things. I know it makes you feel a little weird Lily, but I just wanted to thank you. This kind of actually really helped me in my own thoughts.
honestly watching this back now and seeing how michael treats her it makes me happy that he puts so much effort in....ofc i'm on the outside looking in and i never knew albert well at all or any of these content creators but just seeing how much pain she was in here compared to now just makes me so happy to see her happy, she deserves the happiness she's getting and i know some pain might still be there, also despite what albert did i hope he's doing ok mentally to and can maybe appreciate things more in the future.

Mavodeli it might have made sense. nowadays gaming is so common, that it does not reflect what it might once have done. considering that about 80% (pulling numbers out of my ass here, cba to look up the exact percent) of todays generation play some form of videogames, but the IQ, statistically speaking is definitely not increasing.
Like they said in one of the offline "offline" podcast, it's the effort that matters. It's obvious to them that Toast does not necessarily like constant social interactions, but he also will not shy away from asking whether the other person wants to have company, and consider staying despite he doesn't necessarily want to.
I think Toast likely has the highest degree of empathy and sociopathy than most of OTV. His persona is an aloof, big brain character that doesn't give a shit, but he's really good at reading a room and a conversation. He wouldn't be able to navigate that persona otherwise without constantly making off-hand comments that could be seen as rather distasteful, like Fed tends to do.
I love that the host doesn't mind taking up the harder subjects, I see often when I or others try to comfort people that they try and fix the simple things and steer around the hard things. Very nice stream and I think you did very well
I'm just 16 minutes in but I have to agree so so so much with dr. K when he says people follow Lily exactly because she's a complex human being with feelings. Sometimes watching youtubers that only share the positives of life makes me feel a disconnect & also makes me feel weird and aweful for not always having good days. The world needs more people like Lily who are so honest, so that maybe we can heal eachother a bit

I watch her because she is one of the most wholesome and kind souls that I've seen. I really enjoyed this video, thank you for all the good you do Dr. K!
I watch because I was concerned for her well-being and enjoy the updates once in a while because knowing her personality I believe it would be very difficult to deal with someone cheating on them. Once she manages to fully / partially recover I will leave not because she is boring or undeserving or anything, but simply that I can stop worrying and move on. Not sure if that makes any sense.
Ikr she can play games well, she can play music, sing, animate, sketch, make digital art, is a wonderful and genuine person, can stream well, is hilarious. It's so sad she feels this way.

this was really helpful personally. between the interviews with destiny and lily and their differences and similarities it was helpful seeing them work through their own personal troubles.
There's something about Dr K that brings me comfort. Like when he talks about stuff I feel like I can focus on the topics that I can relate to or that I think are important. Because when I'm talking to my therapist I do it in the morning when I'm not really in the sad zone so I end up just ranting about stuff like racism and sexism etc. But I feel like when I watch Dr K before a session I feel like I can stay in the zone of thinking about what I can control. Thanks Dr K you really have helped me out too with the things you talk about with other people.
This is incredibly motivational. Relationships can have a tremendous toll on anyone, especially if they end in bad terms. Lily has such an amazing soul. When she spoke about Albert getting a lot of hate and how no one deserves it, you can see the purity in her heart. Well you see, some of the best and most constructive therapy, isn’t streamed for patient confidentiality. It takes balls to LIVESTREAM or make videos on therapy. Looking to other people’s therapy isn’t a good way to resolve or use it as catharsis for your own therapy.
Unfortunately therapy takes going to a lot of different people until you meet one that works for you specifically. And in the US not all people are able to get therapy because of health insurance issues.
Remember, it's not therapy though.

I love this therapist. He makes sure that lily feels comfortable and doesn’t just jump in to like sensitive subjects. He sort of eases in to the topic and shows body language that he’s not judging her at all. I completely respect therapist and I commend them for the great job that they are doing.

therapists are epic. just because how in depth and high level their job can be. learning how to make someone comfortable for instance can be one of the hardest things to do. its always very impressive to see how they do their job

Everyone who has a computer or the internet has it easy compared to 50% of the entire world's population. Yet people in 1st world countries suffer more from suicides and depression than in poor countries. There are a lot of depressed people streaming on twitch (as well as people who have committed suicides that live on social media). If you're not happy with your life, you won't be after you become a streamer either.
@Burak Ormanoglu Destiny is a rare example. He has been happy his whole life and he has never had any mental issues. Those people exist in all kinds of fields and they're not limited to only twitch. He appreciates what he has and I believe he would appreciate what he has regardless of streaming.

@@AquilaPainWhy I'm not 100% sure but I think @Quadril is referring to the way Dr K's observations are trying to make Lily realise how great she is, she is the "food" in a restaurant, even when she thinks that on the outside she is ugly, not deserving of her fame or her fans who always tune in to watch her.
Dr K is saying that she has value in herself and her actual personality and what she does. He wants her to see that no matter what her outward presentation is (like the service at a restaurant), that the real reason people are there is for her and that what she does and who she is - what she does has value and helps people.
For the first hour or so they have been discussing the ways that her sense of worth has suffered, related to her childhood [and her breakup which gave her attention on the internet also lead to her having more fans which she feels undeserving of, because in some way those people "showed up" due to her breakup; but actually 99% of her fans like her for her]
Dr K is trying to make her see that "Lily 2" who is the part of her that is afraid of being a disappointment/doesn't feel she deserves her fame, that she should accept and reassure that part of herself and believe in her value - as she would reassure a fellow streamer in her shoes.
Lilly is one of those content creators I don't watch at all anymore, but I'll occasionally drop by her streams for a few minutes to see if she's changed at all since the last decade and I'm proud to see her always being her. I have to give mad respects to Lilly because I remember how, back when she hadn't even revealed her face yet, people were always going on about how "oh lilly's voice is so fake", "lilly's probably ugly irl", "lilly this lilly that". Yet... She's still managed to armor through a lot of shit through out all of these years.
It's truly fascinating watching what people thought was this "feeble little girl" muscle through all of the psychological bullshit that's been thrown at her and keep pushing forward, I honestly can't think of many other content creators getting this much _undeserved_ hate and not quitting after a couple years. Key word "undeserved" because we all know everyone who's popular has haters, no shit, but I really don't think Lilly's done ANYTHING worthy of her getting all of the hate she's gathered through out all this time. It's sad, but it's good to see that she's strong enough to withstand all of this hatred.

Like a cheater will ever say, because I'm greedy. Failure of a relationship can be blamed on two people; but the decision to cheat is ALL on the cheater.

Ok I understand nobody really cares but I need to say it. My ex boyfriend and I went to a dance and in that weekend he broke up with me over text. I never really found out but I'm pretty sure he was cheating on me with one of my friends and then was trying to dumb that friend and try to go for my best friend. DatVocals! In a sense his sociopathy might help him - I get sad just hearing her talk about it and am not sure I could be objective with my questioning and approach as a result of that.
Sociopath's are incredibly observant of social cues, it is how they blend in with the emotional masses without truly feeling the same, imitation. They are incredible at picking things up subconsciously and using those things without any effort. An empath while being equally intuitive are unable to separate other peoples emotions from their own, they naturally take things more personally. His disconnect with his patient could be his advantage.

1 year exactly and this is my first time watching the video and it really shows a more detailed lily
Holy crap. 3 minutes in, and the amount of intuition this man used to in the moment he asked Lilly to explain to the audience the topic was BRILLIANT to see.
1) Was looking to get a base line of how comfortable she.
2) Saw she was, not at ALL comfortable, and that pushing to hard here was a bad idea.
3) Took a step back to talk about a more positive topic; Sleep. (Which, if you've ever done any research on sleep would be really obvious that this was a really good topic in which you could segway into a PLETHORA of deeper topics)
4) Very, very good balance of asking for specific/tangible answers and making her dig a little deeper for them.
And this was in the first 3 minutes... SUPER sensitive with the person he's conversing with.

Like they said in one of the offline "offline" podcast, it's the effort that matters. It's obvious to them that Toast does not necessarily like constant social interactions, but he also will not shy away from asking whether the other person wants to have company, and consider staying despite he doesn't necessarily want to.
I think Toast likely has the highest degree of empathy and sociopathy than most of OTV. His persona is an aloof, big brain character that doesn't give a shit, but he's really good at reading a room and a conversation. He wouldn't be able to navigate that persona otherwise without constantly making off-hand comments that could be seen as rather distasteful, like Fed tends to do.

I love that the host doesn't mind taking up the harder subjects, I see often when I or others try to comfort people that they try and fix the simple things and steer around the hard things. Very nice stream and I think you did very well
I'm just 16 minutes in but I have to agree so so so much with dr. K when he says people follow Lily exactly because she's a complex human being with feelings. Sometimes watching youtubers that only share the positives of life makes me feel a disconnect & also makes me feel weird and aweful for not always having good days. The world needs more people like Lily who are so honest, so that maybe we can heal eachother a bit

I've only been watching lily for a couple of weeks, so I guess I'm part of the influx of viewers that she got from the drama.. but I don't watch her *because* of the drama. I watch her because she is one of the most wholesome and kind souls that I've seen. I really enjoyed this video, thank you for all the good you do Dr. K!
I watch because I was concerned for her well-being and enjoy the updates once in a while because knowing her personality I believe it would be very difficult to deal with someone cheating on them. Once she manages to fully / partially recover I will leave not because she is boring or undeserving or anything, but simply that I can stop worrying and move on.

When she started talking about her high school depression, I swear, that was the most relatable thing i was ever told my whole life.
There's something about Dr K that brings me comfort. Like when he talks about stuff I feel like I can focus on the topics that I can relate to or that I think are important. Because when I'm talking to my therapist I do it in the morning when I'm not really in the sad zone so I end up just ranting about stuff like racism and sexism etc. But I feel like when I watch Dr K before a session I feel like I can stay in the zone of thinking about what I can control. Thanks Dr K you really have helped me out too with the things you talk about with other people.

This is incredibly motivational. Relationships can have a tremendous toll on anyone, especially if they end in bad terms. Lily has such an amazing soul. When she spoke about Albert getting a lot of hate and how no one deserves it, you can see the purity in her heart. Big props to Dr. and Lily for such an amazing conversation that not only benefits Lily but others who might be going through similar things or need to know that it’s okay to feel weak sometimes.
I love this so much because lily keeps asking people to "talk about feelings" but no1 ever seems up to it. Im glad she could have this conversation.
