Right, 7 years is nothing to these guys. It is a vacation to be away with all his friends, eating good, worki g out, and playing cards with his buddies and all the new friends he'll make, in 5 years he will be back at it as is proven because the first two short terms did nothing to him.

Scrap metal dealers should be charged with the same sentence as the catalytic converter thief because the scrap metal dealer is also making money off the stolen catalytic converter. This is the equivalent of going into a bank and the teller giving the thief money out of someone's bank account without the owner of the bank account knowing that money has been stolen out of his/her account.

When people commit crimes that really effect people's day to day. That is unforgivable. You potentially steal a person's converter, when they have rent, kids, or house to pay and then ruin the day possibly month because they can't afford to replace the converter, just to have it stolen again. Probably worst if that person depends on the car to make a living.

Mine got stolen from under my truck that had 2. I've got 4 kids and my truck had been parked in my front yard for 4weeks while saving for a transmission. The day it arrived and was towing it to the mechanic was when I figured it out. I can't even begin to say what it's doing to us. I wish I would of caught the guy who did it in the act. It almost cost my son from his end of the year field trip too. I don't do credit cards. Never had one. So I had to borrow the money from family to pay for it. The stress from it all is not ok. Just because some junkie doesn't want to work to pay for their dope of choice.

thieves need to be held accountable just as much as these scrap yard owners; "why hello person with 20+ catalytic converters I would love to buy those as scrap, there's nothing suspicious about this at all" - scrap yard owners. LMFAO

There is a backorder of many months to get the catalytic converter to replace the stolen one, so these despicable a-holes are basically taking the transportation away from countless of their victims and causing a lot of pain in people's lives. I know someone who lost his job because he didn't have a car and couldn't get to work. These people are disgusting.

7 1/2 years and they say it is fair? There in lies the problem and as long as this ridiculous leniency persists, the problem perpetuates…

That’s happening everywhere in Texas. Man I work at an auto shop and it sucks when customers come to buy one and get told it costs thousands of dollars. The mechanics are the culprit I feel like they are buying them

Holding the bastard "accountable' Implies that he (and the recyclers who purchased the stolen cats) pays for all the repair/replacement costs to the crime victims!

As long as this is profitable, there is motive.
Eliminate the financial incentive by going after the people buying these stolen parts.
