I’m from Manhattan, New York and I got the most unique and useful thing in your bag that nobody thought about is the portable waterproof blanket that is phenomenal,
Thank you. Thankfully I've not needed to use it very often, but it's good for sitting on a damp bench! (I also once used it to sit on a bench that was covered in bird poop, but I didn't think that through very well because I also got pooped on while I was sketching hahaha)
Agreed. I've come back to this video a year later just to look at her art in that brilliant paper and towel book. Bang on brilliant. And the bracelet box idea for brushes, bloody brilliant!!
At the beginning of the video you mentioned only having 4 subscribers and I'm thrilled for you that you now have 962! Very happy that RUclips's algorithm sent me your video, this was very helpful and had lots of good ideas that I haven't heard anywhere else (: Greetings from a Brit living in Montreal Canada, soon to be traveling to Korea and Japan! (This video will be very helpful, cheers!)
Thank you so much! I’ve been surprised by how popular this video has been! (It’s definitely the one that RUclips recommends the most). And I’m so pleased that it’s been helpful!!!
I think you did a great job with this video, Lora. You and I have a pretty similar setup for sketching as well as a similar attitude. I am a 51 year old woman living in Toowoomba, Australia and I am only quite new to sketching. I love your art style and would enjoy learning more about how you create your art. Enjoy your holiday.
I really enjoyed your video. I've got to find that zip bag for you have all of your pencils I love the way that just folds down in your cup just sits there You've really thought this through. Keep these videos coming I just really enjoy them and will be subscribing
@lyndasmith593 thanks Lynda! I got the pencil case from Amazon. If I recall I just searched for vertical pencil case. (The big one with the multiple zips around the side, which opens like a book, was also from Amazon)
@@madebylora thx.. just ordered the pencil case but I don't know how to look for that multiple zip pack that you ordered I don't know what it's called. Love your work... So helpful for me.
"Maybe I'm just lazy." Oh man, I think that to myself so many times per day. But I read an anecdote once that said smart managers give their laziest employees problems to solve, because lazy people are great at figuring out how to work smarter, not harder. So, it's not laziness, it's efficiency, and that shifted my perspective.
I had another tidbit to add: I used an old cotton sock and cut the foot part off to make the wrist band. I also occasionally tuck a paper towel into it to absorb more water.☺
Oh my goodness!! Your bound sketchbook is to die for!!! I’ve just started binding books myself and I truly hope I can make something as lovely as that! ❤❤❤
Aww thank you so much!! I've also got a bookbinding tutorial on my channel. It's quite long but I go through it step by step. One person told me I talk too much, but the majority of the comments have said the detailed explanations are helpful. Although if you've already started making books you might not need a tutorial anyway. (This is me "self-promoting" and then feeling awkward about being too pushy hahaha)
@@madebylora No, not pushy at all! I’ll be looking it up. I have only just started and I am pretty clueless. I have many of the tools now and my dad helped me make a press from a couple of wooden chopping boards! So, I am really looking forward to following your tutorial. How bizarre that someone said you talk too much through it!! One of the issues I have had is that many of the tutorials I have looked at have too much assumed knowledge. I’ve just subscribed and I’m keen to watch the rest of your videos! ❤️
Lovely video. Really liked the idea of having a grab bag for when your sitting on the couch and don't want to go to your craft table! I often don't feel like moving up to my "art room" because it feels lonely when the hubby is watching TV in the living room.... looking forward to watching more of your videos! JoAnn, Eastern Canada!
It’s so surprising to me! I never expected the subscribers to go up like they have! Travel kits are obviously a popular topic because it’s definitely my most popular video so far! Thanks for watching!
Hi Lora, RUclips recommended this video and I’m so glad it did. Definitely not scraping the bottom of the barrel. It was interesting and delightful to watch, not only to see which supplies you use and how you pack them (love the second-hand backpack), but also to see your lovely artwork and your handmade books, which are gorgeous. I’m an amateur artist and bookbinder (learning from RUclips) and loved seeing your beautiful books. It’s such a fun and satisfying craft. I see that you’ve made a bookbinding video so I will be using that to improve my skills. I live in Melbourne, Australia (born in Halifax, West Yorkshire), recently semi-retired and looking forward to more time being arty and crafty. Thank you for your lovely, inspiring channel. Theresa 👩🏻🎨📓👩🏻🎨
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed my video. I hope you'll enjoy the book binding video too (I also learnt from RUclips, mostly "Nik the booksmith" and "SeaLemon"). It's so nice sketching in your own books!
@@theresamongan3479 thank you! I’ve only ever made one Coptic stitch book (as a special request for a friend). I enjoyed it, but I would need to rewatch Sea Lemon’s video again to remember what to do haha! I also love it when I can combine various hobbies into one project! Thanks for your support!
@@madebylora yes, it’s lovely to combine our hobbies to create beautiful things like books etc. So lovely to meet someone who enjoys the same hobbies. Yes, the SeaLemon Coptic stitch video is good - I used that one to learn and refer to it when I am making books. There’s another video of Coptic stitching on another channel that is very good. I will check the name of it and let you know 😀
It’s called Papercutspress. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/wYKR2K7NPys/видео.html I also like Vintage Page Designs. You may have already seen these channels, but thought I’d mention them in case you hadn’t. 🌟📚🌟
I enjoyed your video. I had to laugh when you introduced your video as “scraping the bottom of the barrel”. That made me want to watch it through. Usually I skip over beginner’s videos because they are pretty awful but you have a nice, natural style. And a natural voice. Thanks for sharing!
Aww thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words! I think we all hate hearing our own voice so it is good to know that others don't think you sound terrible! Haha
You’re not the bottom of the barrel, look how far your channel has come in a year, from 4 subs to 1.6k. Even then, you must have been putting out good content to have grown this much! Congrats on your success
Don't discredit yourself so much! This is a great video and so helpful to see WHY you like certain things about your setup. I came here looking for pencil case ideas (planning on sewing my own so i want to customize it with all things that i might find helpful) and your reasoning for why you like the stand up case so you can see the labels on the end of your pens, plus the "now i dont have to put my pens away" reasoning really sold me on this design!! A lot of other videos show what they have but don't always explain why they like their setup compared to other designs they've tried or seen. Also greetings from the Pacific Northwest in USA :)
I have always wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest!! Closest I got was Santa Cruz, CA. I was interviewing with Deloitte in Seattle when I started dating the man who is now my husband. He's a ray of sunshine, and needs a lot of sunshine, so when I didn't get past the second round of interviews, I stopped applying to companies in Seattle.
So glad RUclips "scraped the bottom of the barrel" and showed me your channel😁 I'm constantly fiddling around with my little on the go art kit and love seeing what other people use.
The sports wristlet is inspired. I got a tip from another watercolorist that the blue shop towels are more useful than paper towels as they are more absorbent and can be reused several times. I also love the overall size of your kit.
You have some really great ideas here - the phone ring being one - I have been using those on my phone for years and never thought to put it on my Altoids palette! Brilliant! And I love your little sketchbooks, they are beautiful! I'm super glad that RUclips suggested this video to me while I was enjoying my weekly troll of Travel Art Bag videos. Thanks!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed this! I have since done an updated video about my art bag, but this original one still seems the most popular because RUclips is still recommending it to people which is nice!
I love your setup! I'm a little bit in love with your brown paper sketchbook, what a great idea to use the packing paper for it. And that little blanket looks great, I'll definitely have to get something similar. I live in Sweden and, although we've had some distressingly dry summers lately, most of the year can be quite wet. We've got a decent amount of benches in public parks etc, but that's not super helpful if the benches are wet 😅
Glad you liked it! I’ve used the little blanket a few times now. First time I used it I sat on the grass and it got covered in grass stains…. So it saved me from getting a green bum! Haha, it’s been good on damp surfaces but I’m not sure if I’d trust it on very wet surfaces.
Hi Lora, greetings from Western Australia. Your intro made me giggle because I have been watching a tonne on art kit videos and RUclips did recommend your video to me. Watching this 7 months after you made it and your subscribers have grown from 4 to 622. I love your video and I’m now keen to learn more about book binding…what a great job you did on your homemade art journals. I will be checking out your other videos.
Hi Kirsty, I still can’t believe how popular this video has been! I’m glad you enjoyed it! If you’re looking at my other videos, you’ll see that I did a tutorial for making a sketchbook. It’s so nice sketching in a book you made yourself.
I'm with you on the lovely sound of a pencil case. My Sister used to say the sound reminded her of our childhood Christmases, when our Mum and Dad would give us new art equipment. Such beautiful memories.
This is perfect for me. I love those pencil cases that transform to a pencil cup. I have two myself. So brilliant marking the water brushes like that, I'm taking that idea with me. You have the perfect little kit. I am happy RUclips recommended your video to me. Much love ❤️
Thank you!!! Quite a few shop bought paint kits have thumb rings so that gave me the idea of using one that’s meant for phones. The wrist band and pencil case, I think I got both those ideas from Koosje Koene, on RUclips.
I’m addicted to travel kits and always seem to get a bit of new info. I hadn’t considered the fold down pencil case. It seems to work well - at home I have cups and jugs holding my art equipment and it means I can grab exactly what I need just like your pencil case. Looking forward to more! Thank you.
Thank you!! The travel kit has definitely been my most popular video so far! The danger of watching too many travel kit videos is that you might need a suitcase for all the great ideas that everyone has haha. I love my standing pencil case so much and definitely recommend it haha
I love your handmade journals! It would be amazing to see you create one. You have some really great ideas and your sketching is wonderful! Watching from Seattle, WA, US
Hi Tracie, thanks so much! (I have actually done a sketchbook tutorial, if you’d like to have a go at making your own. It’s in my ‘handmade books’ playlist)
You’re on your way to 400 now 🎉congratulations. I love your kit. I’ve been watching travel kit vids…why? Am I traveling? No. 😂😂 I just love art travel kit vids. I’m a new sub. Loved this vid. Much❤
Oh, I forgot, I am from Michigan in the US. I've been a watercolorist for a couple of years but recently began the Urban Sketching and I love it. So, I am a beginner at that as well.
I’m a mature girl also in the UK and have fine tuned my little sketching / watercolour set right down to just the few bits and pieces I regularly use. I like the little brown bag you use as it would leave room for me to carry a packed lunch, tiny camp stove and set to make a hot drink, and a water bottle. Thank you for all the ideas! 🙂
You sound like the best person to go sketching with! I occasionally take a small flask for a hot drink, but a camp stove sounds great (although I'm not sure I'd want to carry it, so I'm just tagging along with you! Haha). I've more recently done an updated video about what I carry. I added a folding stool, but I keep that in the car and only take it with me if I'm pretty sure I'll need it.
Thank you! I saw that some of the pre made kits had thumb rings and it looked like a good idea be being able to hold more stuff in one hand! I like that the one I bought can also swivel because I’m still experimenting with what is the most comfortable position for the thumb ring.
Hahaha thank you! I never thought this day would come, but you are my 1,000th subscriber! It’s taken exactly one year from this video, when I never thought anyone would see it because I only had 4 subscribers! Thank you!
I always love seeing what people include in their drawing kits, it's so satisfying seeing a sort of compact or semi-compact setup. Yours looks wonderful!
Love that pencil case. I had an older version of the same, before my bag was stolen. They're so nice! Really love how natural and everyday your style is, how you just have sketches of all your tools and art supplies. And the brown paper! Makes me wanna start drawing on paper bags again...
Oh no, I’m sorry to hear your bag was stolen!! Yes, I love that pencil case. Been using it for over a year now and still love it. I haven’t used the brown paper for a while, but I’m doing Inktober again this year and will be using my little brown paper book. Thanks for your comment.
@@madebylora sorry I had skipped through the video, and didn't realise you'd made one of the sketchbooks out of brown packing paper! I recently had done a similar thing with a notebook from brown grocery bags! but mine was way way wonkier than yours 😄 you've got the most beautiful covers! something to inspire me ☺ i love this sort of creativity.
Thank you! Wonky is good! It proves it's handmade haha. I've got a couple of book binding tutorials on my channel and currently working on another one. I love using handmade books.
Ha ha, loved your Intro: RUclips DID show me this based on my recent search! 🤣 But not the worst way to meet new peeps here on RUclips! 😍 I'm English too, but currently living in The Netherlands. Love your kit, those handmade sketchbooks are so lovely as well! 😍
@@jude1515 it's quite a long video but lots of people have commented that it was helpful doing it slowly step by step. I hope you will soon be making books you feel more proud of!
I'm in Oregon. You had some really great ideas. I love that you didn't just fill your bag because there was still room. When you are visiting away, you always need more space. Excellent idea. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Hard to believe this video was over a year ago (it’s still my most popular video so far) and I’m currently in the middle of filming an updated art bag video…
Today you're at 675. LOVED your setup. The phone pop up attachment to your palette was brilliant. I haven seen that before. LOVE your sketchbooks. Only thing I could suggest is a disposable poncho. They don't take up much space if unused but can be so handy. Thank you for a great video.
Hi Eileen, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Funnily enough I was actually thinking about those disposable ponchos last week…. The weather forecast said it was going to stay sunny so I left my coat in the car while I went for a walk…. It poured with rain and I got soaked. But the sun came back out and I dried off. A lady walking her dog told me off “where’s your waterproof? You must always bring a waterproof”….. that wasn’t you was it? Hahaha
@@madebylora No not me, lol. I live in Florida US. We have our rainy seasons (and at times, just plain rain). I also do some ;-hiking and trail work. All my packs have disposable ponchos/ I also carry a loud whistle. That is actually in case I see wild pigs among other things.
I LOVE the sketchbook you made! Bookbinding is so satisfying. 🔥 And your drawings are wonderful. The quick flip of the pages was tantalizing! I haven't looked through your videos yet, but a flip-through would be lovely. 😁
Thank you so much for your encouraging comments! It means so much! I’m having a lovely time sketching on holiday so I will see about doing a flip through of my holiday sketches when I get home (and maybe also the little brown book too)
I love how you approached the issue of a travel kit with the understanding of what really makes it useable for your own working style! I agree 100% with the idea that if it's hard or inconvenient to use you'll lose motivation and not use it, no matter how good each individual piece might be. You had a really smart approach to making your tools work for you! I didn't think to use a sport wristband or phone ring for the mini palette, both very creative solutions in my opinion. Also good move using nicer watercolors, I think that can also influence how good or bad it feels to do your painting. Sorry for the novel of a comment, I've just been making any own small kit and thinking about problem solving similarly. 😅
Thank you so much for your comment! (Long comments are my favourite!). I’ve actually been using my “travel” kit today, while sat at home on my sofa haha! When I was on holiday I found that I used the proper brushes more than I expected, so I’ve since bought a set of travel brushes to add to my kit. I got the wristband idea from Koosje Koene on RUclips, so I can’t take credit haha. Although, I think she also got the idea from someone else, so all the good ideas get passed around. I hope you’re enjoying your small kit too!
Thank you for your video I really loved it. In my personal opinion I think you did a great job. I'm a lover of watercolor and arts, so I am really glad that RUclips suggest me your video. I loved your voice, because It sounded really calm and peaceful. Greetings from Mexico.
The simplicity but optimized use of your travel kit is inspiring. I am going back and forth on everything. Which sketchbook or -size, which watercolors and mostly the how many colors in what tin and all other options. I tend to leave even my bedroom with a bag of supplies, always traveling with bags of medical stuff (a lot of braces and medication), layers of clothes for colder and warmer weather, whenever I leave the house. Due to a… rocky past and several illnesses I need that stuff that others deem unnecessary. But with art I just can’t decide. It doesn’t help to have such versatility in art supplies. Sometimes I take my acrylic markers and a sketchbook, sometimes watercolors, sometimes just just pencil or pen. Belgium is small but I feel like I’m always lost. I think that’s why I kinda have a survival “kit” stockpiled in my car 😅 Love your artwork btw
I know what you mean about not knowing what supplies to take. I found it relatively easy with these particular supplies because I had a plan for what I wanted to achieve on my solo holiday. But normally when I go on holiday I end up taking art stuff and crochet and cross stitch and puzzle books and reading books etc etc because I don't know what I'll be in the mood for in the evenings. Usually I hardly use any of what I take, but it's still hard to know what to leave at home! (I also pack for every possible weather possibility)
I love these what’s in my bag videos. Yours was very interesting. So glad YT brought you to my attention.. immediately subscribed. Thought your little sketch books were wonderful and I loved the peeks inside. Your art is so impressive, can’t wait for more. From a bitty little rural town in the wilds of Illinois.
Thank you! If you want to give it a go, I’ve got a tutorial about how I make mine (in my handmade books playlist). It’s quite a long video, but done in easy to follow steps (so the comments tell me, anyway)
Thank you so much!! I love that you want to 'steal' my ideas!! (although if one of those ideas is the wristband, I got that idea from Koosje Koene here on RUclips!)
@@madebylora by the way, RUclips did recommend your video, and I'm so glad. I live in Michigan in the US, and am 63 years old, brand new to sketching and watercolor. Again, just a brilliant setup, thanks so much for sharing this!!! I love your art as well!
@@alliehartom5978 Thank you so much! This travel kit video is definitely my most popular so far! It has been a real surprise to me that I've gone from 4 subscribers to over 200 in a couple of months. So unexpected!
There are soooo many channels on RUclips giving advice for sketching and painting. Two that I have found very encouraging are Sketchbook Skool and Koosje Koene
I keep a travel kit near me indoors when I'm not traveling because I'm so lazy --- if my sketch kit is near me, I get more work done! Love the Altoid tin palette! I'm making one today...thank you for the inspiration!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who is lazy even when it comes to hobbies! Hahaha! Motivation fades so quickly, we just need to make it easy for ourselves to get started! Glad that you feel inspired to make a little palette! Enjoy!!

Thank you so much for your kind words!!! If you do a search on Amazon for standing pencil case or telescopic pencil case there are loads of them (including some with cute faces on them). I’ve since done a flip through of my holiday sketches and I’m currently doing a weekly flip through of my inktober sketches. I learned most of my bookbinding skills from Sea Lemon and Nik the booksmith here on RUclips. Maybe I’ll do a ‘tutorial’ when I make my next book. Thanks
Hi Lora, I’ve just sat down for an afternoon cup of tea an RUclips suggested your channel. I love your art kit setup - I’m getting back into art and sketching after many years away from it. I’m in Tasmania, which is the southern state of Australia. Thanks for sharing your art kit and lovely journal. 💛😊

So glad I found you. I’m new to drawing and watercolor and am going on a trip soon so this is helpful. I imagine these are things that change with time. I don’t know anything about pens but that really seems to be what people take a lot of. Thanks your sketching is great by the way
Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm glad you found my video helpful. My best advice is don't take too much! Take the few things you feel most confident using because (in my opinion) if you're sketching in an unfamiliar environment and maybe nervous about sketching in public, you don't want to be overwhelmed by your supplies or not knowing how to use them. At the moment I've just been using 2 fine liners (0.3 and 0.5) and I've started experimenting with using a fountain pen too. I gave up trying to make myself use a brush pen because I really don't like it (but some people love brush pens).
I'm from Holland Lora and I've been watching a lot of these videos. Your's is very well with new information and you have a very nice voice to listen to 😀💖
Thank you! I can’t believe how popular this video has been (must be a hot topic haha). I’ve done a few more videos since this one and now have over 200 subscribers…. It’s pretty surreal hahaha
Thank you! I've also shared a video of how I make them if you'd like to make your own too. If you've not made books before, it's simpler than you might think.
And I am from Wisconsin in the US and RUclips did recommend d this video. I have been watching a lot of travel art kit videos. I like how down to earth you are!

Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot! I have also shared a flip through of my holiday sketches (a chatty version and a shorter version)
Hello! What a lovely video. I'm Josefin from Sweden and I have the same humongous pencil case (but "only" 120 pencils fits in it). For now I've accepted the extra weight.. Or in reality - I'm in complete denial. Instead of storing my coloured pencils in those metal tins they come in to reduce the weight - I use those to store a few soft pastels and crayons. Your video was just what I needed. I find it so difficult to know what to bring so I always end up bringing more tools than I use. this was super helpful! Oh, and also, your sketchbooks look absolutely stunning!!
So many great ideas here! Thank you! (P.S. Love that pop-up pencil case...) I see that you also have videos on how you make your wonderful little sketchbooks. Very exciting to me! 😊
Aw thank you so much! Since this video I have shared some others, including a tour of my holiday sketches and also inktober. And I also did a tutorial for making your own sketchbook if you’re interested in the book itself. Glad you enjoyed this video!
Hi from Seattle USA! I am off to Hawaii tomorrow and have created a tin watercolor set for my son. Hoping he catches the travel art bug! Thanks for sharing your setup!
That would be so lovely if you can spend time sitting and painting together! I did that with my niece and we had a lovely time. Hope you have a great holiday (whether or not your son wants to paint)
Yep, this made it into my feed. In the mid-Atlantic US, I have a little sketch kit that I take on my walks every day. Your kit is very well thought out. I hope you give a review of that pocket blanket! The bench I sit on is often damp. Your books are wonderful, you do a nice job.
Thank you very much! I used the blanket a couple of times on holiday, although the days I used it, it wasn’t actually wet so I still don’t know how waterproof it is. But…. It did end up with a few grass stains so I guess it saved me getting a green bum! Hahaha
Brilliant idea for storing your brushes! My kit is similar but gradually more things crept in... some extras you might enjoy, a couple of inktense pencils, a metalic roller pen, some of the caran d'ache neocolor 2 crayons, a couple of acrylic markers. I love stuff I can colour and draw over at the moment its so much fun. I normally use loose paper clipped together in a home made folio or similar sized home made sketchbooks. It's fun to pick a selection of papers for the books and I use the big sheets of loose cotton paper you buy by the sheet. A sheet fot about 4.50 would make a decent sized travel sketchbook with some of the tiny ones you showed as well. Hope you didn't get rained on too much on your trip and thanks for sharing, ❤️🙂🖍
I like the sound of inktense pencils… although I’m trying to avoid buying too much hahaha (well, you know how that goes! Haha!). I also like the sound of using different types of paper in one book too! I had one day when it rained all day but the weather was mostly good - although even on the wet day I went out walking but just took lots of photos that day and then in the evening I drew a map of my walk. (I’ve done a flip through video if you’re interested in seeing the holiday sketches). Also, I enjoyed using the real brushes more than I expected so since coming home I bought myself some travel brushes (the type with screw on “lids”) so that they can go in the pencil case with everything else (you are so right about extra things creeping in haha)
@@madebylora I watched the flip through and really enjoyed it. Cult Pens have the inktense open stock for 1.80 each.... not that I'm being a temptress or anything, just saying lol Hope you post again with more trips or bead work. Do you sell your beads btw?
@@brackalack1 hahaha. I haven’t made any glass beads for over a year but I do have a jar of random beads which I made.
Aww thanks Liz, that means a lot!
@lyndasmith593 I can't remember what I searched for with the big pencil case, but probably just searched for pencil storage or large pencil case.
That's a nice perspective to think that being lazy makes us more efficient hahaha
I had another tidbit to add: I used an old cotton sock and cut the foot part off to make the wrist band. I also occasionally tuck a paper towel into it to absorb more water.☺
Great idea! I have just the sock waiting for this!
@@Ms_Ink Thank you so much! (You'll be able to judge for yourself if I am too wordy haha).
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm watching about two months late, but now you're nearly up to 300 subscribers! Keep creating!
Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/wYKR2K7NPys/видео.html
I also like Vintage Page Designs. You may have already seen these channels, but thought I’d mention them in case you hadn’t. 🌟📚🌟
Thank you for the recommendations! I’ve not come across those channels, I’ll check them out, thank you!
Haha thank you! It's been an unexpected surprise to see my channel grow
Thank you for your lovely comment. Hope you manage to do a great pencil case. I really do love the vertical design, it's so practical.
Hahaha yeah, RUclips has low standards! Glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for watching more than one video! That means a lot!
@madebylora enjoyed several videos and subscribed😀
@@Myscribbletreehouse thank you!
The sports wristlet is inspired. I got a tip from another watercolorist that the blue shop towels are more useful than paper towels as they are more absorbent and can be reused several times. I also love the overall size of your kit.
Thanks. I got the wristband tip from Koosje Koene on RUclips
Hi enjoyed the video. Loved the tips on the wrist band and phone ring on the altoids tin!
Thank you! I got the wristband idea from Koosje Koene here on RUclips (and she got the idea from Liz Steel)
Oh I need a pop up pencil case in my life. I didn't even know such a thing existed. What a gorgeous sketch set up. I love it. I'm from Australia btw
It's been almost a year that I've been using the pop up pencil case and I still love it! Mine is from Amazon, but I've also seen similar on Temu
You were indeed a RUclips recommended channel, and now you've got a new subscriber! Loved your bag and set up and that pencil case is amazing!
Thank you so much!
This is perfect for me. I love those pencil cases that transform to a pencil cup. I have two myself. So brilliant marking the water brushes like that, I'm taking that idea with me.
You have the perfect little kit.
I am happy RUclips recommended your video to me.
Much love ❤️
Thank you so much! And glad to give you an idea for your water brushes!
Wonderful. Clever idea for the ring to hold the tin, and the wrist band. The pop up pencil case is also great.
Thank you!!! Quite a few shop bought paint kits have thumb rings so that gave me the idea of using one that’s meant for phones. The wrist band and pencil case, I think I got both those ideas from Koosje Koene, on RUclips.
I really liked the phone ring too, I even have one in my drawer I can add to my Home made palette.
I envy your skills in making sketchbooks! Yours appear to be very well crafted! Your artwork is also excellent. Great job!
Thank you so much for your kind comments! (I mostly learnt to make books from SeaLemon and Nik the booksmith, both on RUclips.)
Detroit, Michigan here. Loved your video. Some great ideas here. Thank you.
Thank you
You’re on your way to 400 now 🎉congratulations. I love your kit. I’ve been watching travel kit vids…why? Am I traveling? No. 😂😂 I just love art travel kit vids. I’m a new sub. Loved this vid. Much❤
I’ve been blown away by the responses to this video! Thank you so much!
Oh, I forgot, I am from Michigan in the US. I've been a watercolorist for a couple of years but recently began the Urban Sketching and I love it. So, I am a beginner at that as well.
I have so many different hobbies I always feel like a beginner at everything as I flit between different arts and crafts haha
You have a very clever set up. I love the thumb ring for your kit. Great video
Thank you! I saw that some of the pre made kits had thumb rings and it looked like a good idea be being able to hold more stuff in one hand! I like that the one I bought can also swivel because I’m still experimenting with what is the most comfortable position for the thumb ring.
I have similar pencil case & love it. Can go from desk to back in just a zip.
I just watched your video and I really liked it. I believe that you have a really awesome talent at book binding. Thanks you for video.
Aww thank you so much for your kind words!
You had me at the intro. :) Love your kit as well!
Thank you!
Thanks for your comment.
such beautiful sketchbooks!

@@madebylora sorry I had skipped through the video, and didn't realise you'd made one of the sketchbooks out of brown packing paper! I had never seen a pencil holder like that. So cool!!
Watching from a little village in Andalusia, South of Spain. I loved your sketchbooks :)
Thank you!
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me!
I think that’s why I kinda have a survival “kit” stockpiled in my car 😅
Love your artwork btw
I know what you mean about not knowing what supplies to take. I found it relatively easy with these particular supplies because I had a plan for what I wanted to achieve on my solo holiday. But normally when I go on holiday I end up taking art stuff and crochet and cross stitch and puzzle books and reading books etc etc because I don't know what I'll be in the mood for in the evenings. Usually I hardly use any of what I take, but it's still hard to know what to leave at home! (I also pack for every possible weather possibility)
Love you set up and the mini sketch books. Keep sharing we are interested xxxx
Thanks Lee, that’s so kind and encouraging!

Doodling while on hold!! Can relate to that. 😂 maybe I’ll upgrade my bic pen’s status!
Little ones are soooo cute - they all look professional!

Forgot to say...I'm in Hampshire, England 😊
Thank you very much! I'm in Wiltshire so we're basically neighbours haha
@@madebylora love Wiltshire ❤ Beautiful areas, just would also like to say you are so Creativity Lora, going to binge now on your videos 😊
@@18marcie18 thank you! I hope you enjoy my other videos (and hope I don't send you to sleep haha)
I absolutely loved your video. I do hope you share more of your art journals. Very inspirational.
Great job Lora. You’re a very talented artist. I also bind my own sketchbooks. Your’s are fabulous.
Thank you!
Hahaha
Great ideas! I have that little pencil case and love it! I love your little altoids kit with the phone ring! Genius! I also like your thought process.
Thank you 😊
Brilliant idea for storing your brushes!
The plan was to sell them but I’ve never been good at the marketing side of things or what price to charge etc. Hopefully all the lovely comments like yours will give me confidence to give it a go properly. Thank you for all your kind words!
The wrist band idea is ingenious!
I got the wristband idea from Koosje Koene here on RUclips. She got the idea from Liz Steel. And I think Liz Steel may have got the idea from someone else! It’s nice to be able to share helpful tips!
@@madebylora this may be the best thing about RUclips - the interconnection and being able to learn from so many people. 😊
Hi Lora, it was lovely to see your travel art bag. You inspired me to create my own, I usually just pick up a bunch of art materials and take with me (it’s always a lot more than what I need). I also loved your books they are sooo pretty and well made, just flawless. I hope you make a video showing your abilities as a bookbinder. Lots of love from Santa Catarina, Brazil
Thank you so much! I think yours is the first comment from Brazil! It’s so interesting to know where people are from! To begin with I wasn’t planning on doing “tutorials” because I know there are better teachers out there already, but quite a few people have asked about my books, so I’ll be filming the next book that I make (probably later this month). Thanks for your support!
I love your handmade sketchbook and thank you for showing how best to use the white Faber-Castell marker! I’m looking forward to trying mine out again. Great video and looking forward to more! BTW, I am in Georgia, USA.
Thank you so much! That pen actually ran out while I was on holiday (time will tell if I buy another one haha). I’ve also shared a flip through of my holiday sketches (a chatty version and also a shorter one).
Lora, new subscriber here. I absolutely love your kit and notebook! We’ll done on the book binding, that in itself is an art form. You ought to be proud of yourself.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! It really means a lot!
I absolutely adore those books you've made😍 You popped up in my feed, I'm located in Norway. Thank you for sharing😄
Thank you so much 😁
Really enjoyed your video! From California here! You’re quite world wide now! Haha! Thanks for sharing. Need to see more now!
Thank you so much! I've started colouring in on a map all the places that people tell me where they are watching from. It's amazing, I'm so surprised!
Later this month I'm planning to do a video about making a sketchbook.
1 year later, and you now have over 2,500 subscribers!! Way to go!!
Thank you! I never expected my channel to grow this much. I know it's still small compared to many channels but it's been so nice to see it steadily growing.
@@madebylora steady growth is better than going viral and then never being seen again. Or going viral and thrust into a whole new world of negotiating being RUclips famous before you can manage it. My husband always says slow, steady growth is better for the all mighty algorithm.
Hello! I'm in Ohio, USA . I really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing!
Thank you!! By the way, your dog looks gorgeous in your photo!
@@madebylora Thank you! That was Marley, she was a husky and German shepherd mix. It's an old pic.

Hello from London! Yes, your video was recommended to me as I was watching a few travel art kit videos. I now see you do bookbinding as well so I've subscribed. Love your drawings of your supplies!
Hey neighbour…. Well almost, I’m in Wiltshire, just down the M4! Thank you!
Absolutely loved this video. Must confess though that I paused halfway through and ordered the pencil case from eBay. (Amazon deliveries outside the major cities are a bit hit and miss in Australia.)
Hi Robyn, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I still love that pencil case! I hope you will enjoy yours too!
