  • On 16 May 2000, Hollywood icons Julie Andrews and Elizabeth Taylor were made dames at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Speaking to ITN after the event, Julie Andrews described the "thrill" of the occasion and shared the kind words Queen Elizabeth II said to her. Liz Taylor, meanwhile, couldn't really remember what the Queen said to her. The star said she went "blank" with awe during their interaction, describing the occasion as "the most exciting day of my life".

    No one has ever been more deserving of the title "Dame" than Elizabeth Taylor was. And Julia Andrews is not only beautiful, but kind too.

    • @weskitten
      @weskitten 21 день назад

      I liked her glamour, but was she a good actress? Too shrill. Was good as Martha in 1966's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, principally because she and Burton were playing real life with drunken brawls.

      @@catemccool4100 Yes. She and Paul Newman were outstanding. I agree. Great material by Tennessee Williams, even when played in an amateur theatre anywhere. Liz didn't do a lot of note post 1970. She was largely playing herself. Say, Night Watch (1973) or Return Engagement (1978). Don't mind her in Secret Ceremony with Robert Mitcham and Mia Farrow (1968). I think she grew weird over time. Too many illnesses and worshipful regard. A hypochondriac.

      Huh? Please get a life. How anybody can start off complimenting Julie Andrews in a 20 year old news video… and end up complaining about Camilla is beyond me. Do you have a life? Let me guess, you’re retired right? You must have so much time on your hands to harbour resentment against people you’ve never met.
