She was a national treasure. The millions she raised for AIDS research and other charities is amazing. A flawed human being who wasn’t afraid to poke fun at herself while doing wonderful things for others.
Her childlike enthusiasm was and will always be infectious. Elizabeth Taylor was my idol when I was a little girl, and, at 78 yrs. old, I still love and admire her greatly. I’m reading “Elizabeth Taylor, the Grit and Glamour of an Icon” by Kate Andersen Brower, and enjoying it immensely. She was a true gift to this world.
One of the most incredible kindest genuine loving people on the entire planet, she loved hard, fought hard, she survived so much, she gave everything she had to others and she was an incredible person! So sad she's not here with us but her films and documentaries will live on and she will always be in our hearts, May she rest in peace! Her laugh is something she should have bottled, it would make the world a much happier place!
I’ve told my Liz Taylor story a few times and it always makes me inwardly smile, back in the early 90s a friend of mine befriended an older gay couple on holiday in Lanzarote (they had a holiday home there and Ian often subsequently visited them). One of them had been an actor, not a glittering career but he kept working and made a decent living. In 1962 he got several weeks work on the film, Cleopatra, playing a palace guard. He spent a lot of time on set with Elizabeth Taylor and she was warm and friendly ( they bonded over pet pictures and their mutual love of animals). He said most A list stars (and they didn’t come more A list than Taylor in the 60s) barely knew minor actors existed let alone befriend them but Liz was warm with everyone. They kept in touch and she even visited him once or twice when she was passing through London (went to his local pub and tried her hand at darts, badly, much to the amusement of the regulars). When Alan, the actor, died sometime around 2010 he was by then widowed and his sister was tasked with clearing his apartment and she told Ian, who she knew was a good friend, that there was a keepsake box and in it a Christmas card from every year since 1963, all hand written, with words to the effect ‘To dear Alan, wishing you a very happy Christmas, love Elizabeth’. It really tells you all you need to know about how genuine Elizabeth Taylor was.
@@janiceavila7119 The truth! So many famous people don’t live up to the image ( why indeed should they) but Elizabeth Taylor did. She was rich and privileged sure but her beauty went way beyond skin deep. Wonderful human being
I saw another post where an extra on Cleopatra told a story of her stopping the scene so the extras who had been working in extreme heat could all stop for water and to cool off. She definitely seemed to be a genuinely good person ❤
I met her at the Galleria Mall in Clayton, MO. In like 1991. She was a class act and a funny, warm lady. She had more class in her pinky than most celebrities have these days in their whole body. Notice I say most, not all. Some have class, most, not so much.
Fascinating to see a complete press conference of Dame Taylor. Great sense of humor! Seems like a few times she had trouble understanding what was said because of their dialects and the fact they're speaking very fast (to try and get in as many questions as possible).
Often asked such ridiculous and vapidm childish questions must become tiesome. And yet, she's so gracious, such at true queen, with easy going and genuine sense of humor and selfhood for all she has been through in her seemingly (to some) glamorous, reckless life. Even though she could behave as a spoiled diva, instead she comes with wisdom and patience. Even her scolding of one questioner as a "knucklehead" was said with gentleness. I think the world of the talent and compassion that Elizabeth has come to represent. She discovered what was truly important, by trying all the most extreme ways of the world and surviving and her soul remarkably quite intact.
She Was huge at her time …minds you she was the highest paid actress in hoolywood..none of actresses now can even match with this talent and her breathtaking beauty they got thousands of millions now with tik tok lol the real Hollywood is sadly over ..Elizabeth Taylor belongs to legend
As journalists they should've come up with less asinine questions than some of those. Are you gonna cry when you receive the award!? What in the world!
As Rock Hudson once said Elizabeth Loves people. I truly believe she would never intentionally hurt anyone, but she easily held her own when attacks were shot at those close to her. As a result of a fan letter, I was fortunate enough to have a continuing correspondence with her until shortly before her passing. So kind and caring. RIP dearest Dame Elizabeth. 🎉 🕊 💎 🕊 🌹 🕊
A silly introduction. Liz is beautiful, wise and courageous. She has lived a life in terrible pain. That is not worth all she has suffered. I hope she rests in peace. So glad she had some time of great happiness with RB. and Sugar. I know how she felt. Love xxx
Elizabeth Taylor was absolutely beautiful and stunning until the day she died. She was funny, kind, smart and witty. Her laugh and smile are just adorable. She was a great, classy, unique lady.
In her seventies blonde period very last years of life 1999 into 2000s. She was hilarious! She was like a very eccentric and unpredictable moody old grandma. She would speak softly and quietly one minute and then raise her voice the next. She seemed uninterested in being a beautiful icon at this time but really enjoyed attention for interviews and as always loved to talk about herself a lot. She did so much for the prevention of AIDS and for the support of LGBT, she was a wonderful human being, a terrific actress.
Unfortunelly, only a few years ago that I have the chance to watch her old interviews and others. She is very intelligent and from interviews when she was younger , she was ahead of her time.

Humans are such a strange species, the way we treat celebrities like zoo animals in cages, we are all the same, we all have jobs that some are really good at it's just not in a public way, celebrities are just doing a job also, no one escapes real life though, they are no different than we are, maybe more money, more well known but still human.
She was only on the Carson show once. So suggesting she had a connection to him was ridiculous, poor journalism. However her response was genuine and caring.
I saw an interview in which she said that years before she saw something on TV about HIV. She said she thought, "Someone should do something about that! And then I thought, 'bit-h, do it yourself!'"
