If you were to research the eptimoligy, & differing means of each word through out the ages, you'll quickly see that there is a parallel story being told. 1 in the language of English for the profane, & the other in witch language for the initiatiated & enlightened. If you think what you've heard & understood of this song is brilliant now, hold on tight when you listen to it having learned the other language & the story it tells. Its beyond brilliance. Possibly on the level of the supernatural. It isn't hard to get to where you hear & see the other story really. Just learn all the various meanings of every single word used in this song. Like the word Address. It seems out of place doesn't it? Well in the profane version it's certainly odd. And notice the crowd is after his Blood. Its always all about the blood, & whose dna it carries. That goes all the way back to the garden, to the 1st man, & the Plumed Serpent. Give it a chance. Check into each words definitions & the when, where & how those words came to be. Its a shame what the Big Machine did to Leo, bcuz he really was the real deal. But he was probably revealing way to much sacred knowledge that they keep hidden from we the profane in order to maintain their control over us. They got him payed tho, starting w/ the Satanic Rodger Daltry raiding Leo's musical catalogue, & basicly assuming his character, his essence really. And Leo never got it back. It seems Leo was exposing the masquerade, & so they diverted him away from himself & his understanding of the word around him & the one we can't see. If not for that, the other alternative for him would have been very very bad. The character in this song threatens to stop this fake, scripted show being played out on the world stage. But if it all is revealed, then it all falls apart. And they know the show Must Go On becuz after that there's probably nothing else...
@@andrewflowers2850 Well Andrew, that is all very interesting..certainly food for thought! The song always struck me since I first heard it when 10 years old..and the word Address while it may seem a little out of place, its brilliantly used. Strange you should mention that..
@@desbrowne1900 I tell ya, if you research the many different means for many English language words you'll discover many popular songs you think you know are actually telling two parallel stories.. Take the government psyop band Foreigner & their song that tells of the protagonist selling his soul to satan! Just start with the eptimoligy of the word Juke..which originally meant a deception. And take the apostrophe out of He'll, & that phrase becomes Hell Come Alive Tonight! And it's repeated 3 times. 3 times is the charm. I mean just what are they saying ? He'll come alive tonight? Think about it in that context. Its some sort of rebirth ain't it? And the Stars in his eyes? Pentagram in this eyes ndicates hypnosis on some level, & it's repeated 3 times etc. And at the end when he thinks he saw his own shadow? Well he thought he saw his own soul of which he no longer has..A simple defining of the word shadow will confirm this. And 'He's got to keep rockin', just can't stop' means just what it says, but not in the way you may think. That's part of the deal, they can't stop performing ,& spreading the satanic message. Asl yourself why do all these old musicians still tour. Most haven't put out a record in decades..And most don't need the money either. But there they are, relentlessly on the road. They just can't stop. And to wrap up this Foreigner group (originally named Trigger, not for a gun part or for Roy's horse) & song study (both whom I love dearly as I am a sinner) how did a guy of close to adult age become so proficient on guitrlar, song writer & performing so quickly? How did he do suddenly reach fame & 'The Top' seemingly over night? He made the deal, that's how. And Jukebox Hero tells that story...dig into this & you'll see it for yourself. I could list many many more. Joe Walsh The Confessor is about the same thing.. He did this at Henley & Fry's behest...But anyway, it's lonely being the only that goes as far& deep & as through as I do on these great rock songs. So I'm hoping you get bit by the bug & join me in discovering what else is really going on in these songs. Take care. Be well.. Thsnx. Out.
Images of the movie Valley Of The Dolls... where the main female was forced into doing pills so she could amuse everyone in her life, when her life was crumbling. The catch phrase was 'Sparkle Neally Sparkle'
I ddin't realize that Leo Sayer originally wrote and recorded this impressive song. Watching him sing one can see that he really enjoys performing. He's more talented that I remember giving him credit for back in the 70s.
He was very talented! I had every album starting at 12. What ruined his creativity in my opinion...the woman he's still with repressing him. She wanted him to play it safe.
Leo Sayer was our idol back in the day. We knew all his songs. This was in far away Nigeria. We regarded him very highly. I was only 13. I watched big brother several years ago just because he was there. Thank you sir for the music.
I am so grateful to have lived through the 70s and had the opportunity to listen to some of the greatest music and watch the talented artists who created the music. Real music with real instruments. So many iconic songs came out of the 70s. Thank you to all who contributed.
I was very impressed as a youngster when I saw this performed on TV. I kinda' liked Sayer from hearing him on the radio--I saw this performance and was totally sold. So glad to be able to see this again. I love how adaptable he was with so much variety to his writing styles. great voice, great song writer, and great performer. ~JSV
Bravo- I to lived through that time apart from Sundays ( not a thing Shop/pub/ till the evening etc open in UK)I loved the music it had soul & meaning to it - loved Leo's music.
Exelente Leo Sayer , increible interpretacion canto, actuacion , mimica y clase en un solo acto ,definitivamente unos de los grandes genios musicales del xiglo 20.
Was in a recovery place for Ethano. We all had to request a song. Then we had to say what it meant to us. I chose this song. After it played the room fell silent as I did also. I was thinking I would be ridiculed. The counselor did ask me what that song meant to me. All I said was that it's pretty much self explanatory.
There are a handful of great British performers who have left an indelible mark on the music landscape, but some were never given the due recognition their talents deserved, Leo Sayer being one such artist, this must be one of the all time great performances of a song, I remember seeing this when it was first released, and you knew you were witnessing a great talent, the scatting midway through the song is brilliant, the whole song puts you right in the middle of the character's torment, absolutely brilliant.
***** FOND mentioned Leo Sayer moving to Sydney because the truth is, he wasn't fully appreciated here in Britain, also his manager fleeced him, leaving him nearly broke, there was a series on BBC2 a few years ago entitled the entertainers, each week a particular entertainer was featured, and Leo Sayer was one of them, what was evident was that Leo had become disillusioned with his life in Britain, travelling up and down the country for little pay, and less appreciation, the show portrayed him as an eccentric, and yet here is a man who wrote some of the WHO's biggest hits, Leo Sayer had paid his dues, learned his craft in the hard knock world of the music industry, it is no surprise he left these shores to start anew.
FONDSince1971 I am always peeved when others seem to take offence at a comment which was nothing more than a piece of information, and certainly nothing for the respondee to get their proverbial knickers in a twist, as you know there are many who are always up for an argument over the most trivial of things, thank you for taking the time to reply, I just felt it was right to defend your right to make your comment, and flesh out the reasons why Mr sayer left Britain. As a footnote, I attended Neil Diamond's concert in my home city of Manchester last night, 09/07/15, he was brilliant, one wonders how he continues to do what he does, he held the audience in the palm of his hand, and kept them there all evening, the new stage set up was fantastic, with the swirling diamond and lighting, after such a triumphant return, I hope that isn't the last we see of Neil, fantastic time had by all.
***** You are saying that i was taking offence. no i wasn't, i even said that in my second comment. it was a genuine question, if anything, FOND took offence. why take a simple comment made by me and make it seem like i had outright attacked him?
one of the greatest songs ever written .......one of the greatest vocal peformances of all time........& one of the most underated & humble artists ever
Hace 3 días me apareció este video en tiktok y no he dejado de verlo, impresionante el performance de este Señor! La voz y la entrada después del silencio es simplemente perfecta!!!
Leo definitely got his due in October of 1976 when he released his album (No CDs yet!) "Endless Flight". It is a great album with great songs. Most people only know the hits from the CD ("U Make me feel like Dancing", "How Much Love" & the ballad, "When I Need You") but the other songs are great as well.
Love Leo, his voice, his songs, his humour. I recall my dad watching him on Top of the Pops with us and saying that he’s going to be big with that voice. I thought what is he talking about, he’s on ToTP - he must be famous. Great voice. I wasn’t aware that he co-wrote and his other songs
❤❤Always loved Leo Sayer -peple had no idea this is HIS Song, he wrote it, sang in then 3 dog night (group in 70's) got a hit w/ it. I'm sure Leo did get royalties. Watch his 'muppet show' appearance, so good. (search 'muppet show with Leo Sayer' ) .❤❤😊
Have to agree, baffled as to why Mr Sayer doesn't receive a lot more recognition. Regardless of some of the cringy stuff on TV, the man is an amazing talent
Cringey? Really ? Obviously, you just don't get it or the meaning of the song. BTW... Leo dressed as a " pierrot clown" (do you even know what that is?) for this Dutch TV appearance as it fit the mood of his early work.... before he went disco and commercial . Leo is a born showman , unlike many of the cookie cutter, no talents we have today..
Maybe by cringey stuff he meant later with the big afro, rainbow suspenders and singing only in full falsetto to the worst brand of music ever created. And I was thinking the same thing, Butch. Plenty of that type throughout the history of popular music.
Agree with the other comments sadly. He was (is) a phenomenal talent and I especially love this performance and Thunder in my Heart. But he did an awful lot of shit stuff too. His best of album has a few outstanding tracks and the rest is cheesy and hasn't aged well.
Drove a truck to Lake Tahoe in '83..Delivered sound equipment for this guy. He was opening for Bill Cosby. Damn, his voice could fill any auditorium...

Take care. Be well.. Thsnx. Out.
nice
This is a deep song. It's relatable to life. You feel like you're putting on a show and everyone wants something from you.
winogirlll yep totally agree I believe he was fucked over by the music industry at that time too
Images of the movie Valley Of The Dolls... where the main female was forced into doing pills so she could amuse everyone in her life, when her life was crumbling. The catch phrase was 'Sparkle Neally Sparkle'
winogirlll
Kevin Dhnaram Yes. It's very sad !
exactly
I ddin't realize that Leo Sayer originally wrote and recorded this impressive song. Watching him sing one can see that he really enjoys performing. He's more talented that I remember giving him credit for back in the 70s.
He was very talented! I had every album starting at 12. What ruined his creativity in my opinion...the woman he's still with repressing him. She wanted him to play it safe.
First time I heard him sing this song and I was blown away. Amazing
The man is a genius! Something in this performance that is utterly mesmerizing!
I can’t help but feel I’m watching something special here. What an original and subtle performer
Leo has a very unique voice and I for one really appreciate it.
This version knocked me off my feet, the scat the cherry on top. A cry for help.
I’m from East Tennessee, so I love any song with a banjo, and this one did not disappoint. I'm blown away!
From Chile, surprised by this tremendous song... I had no idea it existed... at 49 years old, I discovered it, what a gem
FANTASTIC- PURE GOOD MEMORIES GROWING UP WITH THESE TUNES
Always been Brilliant.
I come here and watch this every few months or so, I just love the song and they way he sings it.
Jennifer Hodson i completly. agree with u there cos he was a musical genius but this was his best by far.
Me too. I love this performance of it.
I saw him in concert (front row) when this song came out. He tried to get me to come on stage with him. Alas, I was too shy!
Leo Sayer was our idol back in the day. We knew all his songs. This was in far away Nigeria. We regarded him very highly. I was only 13. I watched big brother several years ago just because he was there. Thank you sir for the music.
I am honored to say that I am HUGE fan of Leo....very underated artist...!!!!!!!
3 Dog Night Covered this great masterpiece 🙏!!
one of my favorites since I first heard hom on the radio ... still enjoy listening to him
I am so grateful to have lived through the 70s and had the opportunity to listen to some of the greatest music and watch the talented artists who created the music. Real music with real instruments. So many iconic songs came out of the 70s. Thank you to all who contributed.
Don’t be thick. Lots of people from every generation think their music is the best. Appreciate all the stuff you love.

Bravo- I to lived through that time apart from Sundays ( not a thing Shop/pub/ till the evening etc open in UK)I loved the music it had soul & meaning to it - loved Leo's music.
Love Leo on the Muppets show
Performance was totally genius
Great artist back then
Beautiful song
Pure magical artist
❤ thanks Leo ❤
So good, drawn into Leo's world immediately. Talented guy.
Exelente Leo Sayer , increible interpretacion canto, actuacion , mimica y clase en un solo acto ,definitivamente unos de los grandes genios musicales del xiglo 20.
I can't stop watching it.
same here!& again!
+sean s Ensoll I'm glad to see I'm not the only person addicted to watching this.
I watched it a week ago and can't stop humming it.... It's infected me somehow.
me too
It's just an amazing performance
Was in a recovery place for Ethano. We all had to request a song. Then we had to say what it meant to us. I chose this song. After it played the room fell silent as I did also. I was thinking I would be ridiculed. The counselor did ask me what that song meant to me. All I said was that it's pretty much self explanatory.
It is to me
GENIUS! So underrated ❤😊
Very under-rated performer. Full of expression when singing, and a fantastic vocal range too.
I grew up with Leo and this song to this day still has so much power over me! It's a masterpiece performance.
I'm like chain smoker with this...got it playing everywhere
First saw him do this on Midnight Special in '74 and blew my mind . 46 years later and I am still amazed at his performance.
I saw the same performance. That has made me a lifelong fan of his! So under-rated!!!
AGREED I SAW IT TOO !!!BRILLIANT g
One of the most underrated singers songwriters ever brilliant song
Just classic
My time ❤1960/70
Beautiful song
I play this on my piano
Leo have a great voice
Thanks
I thought I'd heard it all, but then someone at work today told me listen to this. I'll thank him tomorrow; what a treat
He was on The Muppets singing this. Look it up. It was iconic
FONDSince1971 what was the point of your comment?
FONDSince1971
i was just asking why you mentioned that he moved is all.
*****
FOND mentioned Leo Sayer moving to Sydney because the truth is, he wasn't fully appreciated here in Britain, also his manager fleeced him, leaving him nearly broke, there was a series on BBC2 a few years ago entitled the entertainers, each week a particular entertainer was featured, and Leo Sayer was one of them, what was evident was that Leo had become disillusioned with his life in Britain, travelling up and down the country for little pay, and less appreciation, the show portrayed him as an eccentric, and yet here is a man who wrote some of the WHO's biggest hits, Leo Sayer had paid his dues, learned his craft in the hard knock world of the music industry, it is no surprise he left these shores to start anew.
FONDSince1971
I am always peeved when others seem to take offence at a comment which was nothing more than a piece of information, and certainly nothing for the respondee to get their proverbial knickers in a twist, as you know there are many who are always up for an argument over the most trivial of things, thank you for taking the time to reply, I just felt it was right to defend your right to make your comment, and flesh out the reasons why Mr sayer left Britain.
*****
You are saying that i was taking offence. no i wasn't, i even said that in my second comment. it was a genuine question, if anything, FOND took offence. why take a simple comment made by me and make it seem like i had outright attacked him?
I LOVE LEO'S VERSION 😊
one of the greatest songs ever written .......one of the greatest vocal peformances of all time........& one of the most underated & humble artists ever
agree
This is by far his best version of this song I feel like he was truly feeling what he wrote
The best version ever, sublime ❤❤❤
I love coming back to this video
other performances of this song don't compare to this one
amazing movements and voice AH I LOVE IT
Hace 3 días me apareció este video en tiktok y no he dejado de verlo, impresionante el performance de este Señor!
God bless you so much with talented and thank you, than you Loe sayers for sharing it with us!...
This guy is incredible.
That little man had an enormous voice!
This is a ❤ MASTERPIECE
Have to agree, baffled as to why Mr Sayer doesn't receive a lot more recognition. Regardless of some of the cringy stuff on TV, the man is an amazing talent
+robsa walker Because of Disco. Totally justified.
That said, he is amazing.
Cringey?
Also like many of the cookie cutter no talents they had back then too ;-)
Maybe by cringey stuff he meant later with the big afro, rainbow suspenders and singing only in full falsetto to the worst brand of music ever created.
Brilliant performance and song!
Leo slater is a genius a great showman he even had a gig with the mufet show
Great performance by Sayer. Exceptional backing band especially with Ballard's banjo playing.
Drove a truck to Lake Tahoe in '83..Delivered sound equipment for this guy. He was opening for Bill Cosby. Damn, his voice could fill any auditorium...
Unbelievable Talent! Just a natural born entertainer!
He wrote it! Did not know that till few years ago. Always been a fan
Luv Three Dog Night's version even better
Thanks for this one Leo!
This is a fab song and the singer Leo Sayer is a fantastic performer !
