With the Gnosis as terrifying untouchable aliens that ruthlessly massacre entire ships full of people, I think Xenosaga Episode I firmly counts as a horror game. I actually played through Dark Half recently, and it had two things working against it (that weren't really its fault):
1 - I'm used to more laid back RPGs where you can explore the world, and in a game where you NEED to find all the NPCs to gain their spirit and also to find better gear, having a timer that limits your exploration is not great.
2 - Not having a US copy of the game, I was playing in a way where the settings got glitched so... during cutscenes, all I was seeing was a weird smoky mass instead of whatever was happening. I only figured out anything was wrong late into the game randomly pushing buttons on the keyboard.

Parasite Eve fascinates me b/c it’s completely surpassed its source material, but irreparably linked to it indefinitely. They go so far as to have an NPC recount the book’s plot during exposition, which is really jarring without knowing the context.
A pulp sci-fi novel captured the Japanese zeitgeist for a hot minute, resulting in a slew of tie-in media of which the game was just a part. Years later; the book has been forgotten but the game is remembered fondly for its quality and experimentation of genres, but can’t really have a sequel b/c Square no longer has the license and likely doesn’t want to acquire it again.
They tried The Third Birthday a while back, but a number of issues - not the least of which was it being a third person shooter on the psp - led to that falling into obscurity…

I have a soft spot for the indie game 'World of Horror' (Kyōfu no Sekai), where it feels like a cursed 80's-era Macintosh game found on a blood-stained floppy disk.
The game puts players in a desperate position to stymie the arrival of one of several evil gods that threaten to swallow the world in their particular brand of cosmic horror. As the player explores the fictional town of Shiokawa, Japan, they have to survive a series of paranormal mysteries and RPG combat encounters inspired by titans of Japanese horror such as Hideshi Hino. While the game’s rogue-like gameplay mechanics (combined with its pre-written stories) can force you to repeat certain cases in each run, each mystery has multiple endings that will keep you guessing as it immerses you in the horror of the unknown.
The game is available on Windows, Mac, PS4/PS5, and Switch, and if you have a hunger for a different type of horror RPG that crawls under your skin, this one is worth a playthrough or two.

I'm a fan, but the video misses some key factors about Baroque. The first thing is, there's a Saturn fan translation as well. The second, is the Saturn version is is considered the peak by far, with PSone removing atmosphere and the PS2 version heavily changing the game to the point of being inferior to both versions (this is the only game with third person).
The first-person Saturn version of Baroque is a horror classic and a work of art. The PSone version is good if it's all you can play. The PS2 game can be skipped entirely.

Omori was delisted from the Xbox store so unless you purchased it whilst it was briefly available there, you can't get it on Xbox anymore. There are physical PS4 and Switch copies out there if it's ever delisted from those digital stores though.

What is that game right before the list of Patreons? It looks so familiar but I just can’t remember what it is.
