Everyone loves what they saw from the beta, but the final game was awesome, the beta by itself would have been an ok game, however if you could find the right balance between the finished game and the unused beta elements you have yourself a masterpiece of a video game.

Elijay Jauridez Finn is right, it was going to be rated T, but since they wanted to keep this game a kid friendly game, not an actual horror game, because there was a ghost in the Safari Room.... And he wanted to decapitate Luigi and mount his head on a plaque.....
Elijay Jauridez The E10 Rating wasn't used until 2005, so back then, they used the T rating for some games that are now E10+, as some got re-rated to that when the E10+ rating came along.
I'm crazy for saying this, but, the final version suited the mood in the mansion much better, in hallways an such. Though it would have been cool if the Beta version had been used at some parts of the mansion, like the basement.
well I think it sounds better is the fact that before the game came out they they did a overhaul on the music, because the music didnt match the tone anymore from what the composers said, so with that said that's why the current version of this fits the game better. personally I think the Beta was a bit darker instead of a spook here and there yknow?
I feel like the part of this where the base start pumping really loud could've been remade in to like a heart beat for when a ghost in possibly chasing you, now that luigis mansion 3 is out lets see

While there was some beta elements that I do wish were implemented, There were also some that I'm glad weren't added, Like that ghost that made you crawl around and lose half your health. Come on, you can't deny that the finalized Luigi's Mansion was still a good game. They also added a bunch of new things to the final game that weren't in the beta. Notice how, In the beta, You could just walk into a bunch of rooms with only "regular" ghosts popping up, no bosses. No opening cutscene or anything. I'm pretty glad they changed that and added boss ghosts. And, for the people saying that the beta was creepier, Maybe so. But Luigi's Mansion wasn't meant to be a horror game. It's supposed to be subtly creepy. Some left out beta things might have helped achieve this, But I really think the game turned out perfectly subtle and creepy as it is. Catchy tune, By the way. (Sorry for my novel of a comment :P)
I have such nostalgia for this game... I spent so much time "researching" the beta version back in 2014. I was younger and found it very spooky and mysterious and wanted to know more about it. Thanks for the good times Nintendo
as if it already didn't give many kids nightmares. I think Nintendo made the right Decision of Making it a Semi-Horror Game with Goofiness, i like that personality this game radiates

I'll be the first person to say this. 'Ghost Luigi' or 'Depressed Luigi' should be in the next Mario Kart. Creepy ass dialogue and everything. AND perhaps he would go from depressed to happy if he wins or something.
I think it's how perfectly it sets the scene for the game. You can def tell this a theme you would hear as a scared little dude going through a haunted mansion and getting intimidated by multiple ghosts, making your heartbeat as loud as a drum

The beta should've been included with the final. The final would be easy mode, and the beta would be the hard mode. The final being for like kids 5-8, while this one being for ages 9-13. Or better yet, make a second sequel as the beta for the first one.
What I don't understand is how people was able to get this theme because as far as I know, you can not find this on the files of Luigi's Mansion (not even with hacks). The beta version of Luigi´s Mansion was only playable in the Nintendo SpaceWorld 2000 (E3), but this version has never been released.
+JFilms Reading files aint like reading a book, ya know. The uploader may have been lucky to be able to find it in there disc, or, better yet, maybe it's on some discs and not on others. That's what happeneed with BFBB (a spongebob game). Think about this. ;)

Beta was the scariest, most thrilling and chilling game ever. I think that it's better than the final release. #1 Luigi's Mansion Beta #2 Luigi's Mansion #3 Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Dark Moon was still great, but Ninendo should've stuck to the original story. Of course, I don't mean EXACTLY the same, but I like how it's more focused on salvation of Mario than the Dark Moon. Also, it should've been fixed on one mansion, either Treacherous Mansion or Gloomy Manor.

Gadd call you and tell you not to go there yet since you can only go in the room once

[General V] Some other discoveries made include the supposed scrapped safari ghost that wanted to "cut off Luigi’s head and mount it to a wall" being just a fabrication. This was merely a rumor that took a certain article of the Luigi’s Mansion section of a Nintendo Power magazine out of context. That author was most likely exaggerating on King Boo who wants to hunt for Luigi and add him to his collection of paintings and join his brother, Mario’s enslavement. The creepy unused “Game Over” cutscene of the dead-inside Luigi standing in front of the mansion was never a scrapped game over cutscene. It was merely a promotional animation used in the tech demo trailers to spook the audience and to hype the game up more. And, this game was never going to have a T for Teen rating. Maybe there was talks of it doing so, possibly. But the game’s rating and content we’re always going to be fairly clean and just be Halloween-like spooks and not true horror.

After a while and fully aware of the bumping noises being the sound of ghosts trying to break down a door this is actually disturbing to me, and I love horrifying stuff!

Did you know what Nintendo actually rated this game in the beta... A 13+ only game! There was going to be a 7 jumps scares and 5 very creepy SFX! And they dropped all scary stuff and made it a kid friendly game!

Yk it's funny. When I was little, this game used to scare the shit out of me (especially that damn baby). Now I'm sitting here is 2020 with my nintendo switch playing the 3RD game of the series. I know some of you won't agree on this, but it feels like the series lost the scare as it went on. It almost feels as if Nintendo is trying to appeal to the younger audience. And honestly, I am very proud of how this series turned out.
Thanks to my nearsightedness, I’ve noticed that the mansion exterior as seen above resembles a skull with the “teeth” being the front gate and the “eyes” being the blue torches.

this theme, to me, encapsulates what i find so eerie about Luigi's Mansion. it sounds so uncanny, which is how i feel about the whole game, including the beta. like, the way the ghosts look and move, the strange sounding music, the fact that the game was supposed to take place literally in the dead of night, it's all so uncanny to me and that's exactly why i love this game and it's series.
So I'm not up to par with everyone in the chat, but I preordered Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for 3DS when I say it on a poster at my local GameStop. I knew nothing about it and thought it looked really cool because I'd been looking for a scary game to play. I had no background knowledge of the game, but I LOVED IT and beat the game in 3 days. I still play it to this day, but I've never completed the game. I'm just not ready to let go. Later on, I heard that there was an original Luigi's Mansion for gamecube. I got so excited and started looking for a working Gamecude and copy of Luigi's Mansion. I, to this day, still have not watched any gameplay of the game because when I do finally get my hands on the game, I want to have just as much fun exploring the game as I did with the 3DS version

I have a memory card with lots of space, but still don't know if there is supposed to be some check point system to it. It's an 8 Megabyte memory card and the 1 save I somehow do have is for Luigi's Mansion. I do not own any other games for the gamecube. And believe it or not, I still have not watched any tutorials on the game. I beat the baby in the crib, got the power of fire and ice, and that's all that I remember. I haven't picked up the game in about a year, but now that you've reminded me, I'll be playing it again. I have it right next to me as a matter of fact. I hope that was helpful!

I want to slap everyone pretending this theme is better than the final version. It doesn't feet a european style mansion AT ALL, it could at best fit for a factory or whatever. Im glad they changed it. The final version is literally perfect for the mansion.

eh, rather have it come to the switch since a lot of the younger kids (assuming Nintendo wants to give children who haven't played it yet a chance to play this masterpiece.) have moved over from the 3ds to the switch. Actually, I'd much rather have it come to both to cater to both the people who played it on gamecube and who haven't. Luigi's Mansion is so underrated, and it's so nice to see them loving the game with a remake (even if it's on an underpowered system). Dark Moon wasn't even a Luigi's Mansion game in my opinion. It was a great game, sure. Great controls, level design, *but levels are what killed it lol.* Compare dark moons atmosphere to the original game and you INSTANTLY see the difference, dark moon is too comedic, too bright, ghost are minions and aren't intimidating what so ever, and it's level based. Which takes 90% of your freedom and crushes it when the DS E. Gadd constantly harasses you with.
This is not really that creepy though. The final suits the mood of walking down dark hallways much better. This would make a great file select theme though.

From what I heard there's around 50 copies of the beta version that somehow got released into the public. Theres probably like 10 out there somewhere now. Try looking on EBay or Amazon or something.

Luigi's Mansion is my favorite game of all time, but I was not aware of new discoveries about it. What is it?

@@generaliv8658 eh it's somewhat of a different area. It still has a camera coded to follow you and some collision but it was cut early on. I think the two player mode is the main new thing
[General V] Some other discoveries made include the supposed scrapped safari ghost that wanted to "cut off Luigi’s head and mount it to a wall" being just a fabrication. This was merely a rumor that took a certain article of the Luigi’s Mansion section of a Nintendo Power magazine out of context. That author was most likely exaggerating on King Boo who wants to hunt for Luigi and add him to his collection of paintings and join his brother, Mario’s enslavement. The creepy unused “Game Over” cutscene of the dead-inside Luigi standing in front of the mansion was never a scrapped game over cutscene. It was merely a promotional animation used in the tech demo trailers to spook the audience and to hype the game up more. And, this game was never going to have a T for Teen rating. Maybe there was talks of it doing so, possibly. But the game’s rating and content we’re always going to be fairly clean and just be Halloween-like spooks and not true horror.

Did you know what Nintendo actually rated this game in the beta... A 13+ only game! There was going to be a 7 jumps scares and 5 very creepy SFX! And they dropped all scary stuff and made it a kid friendly game!

I have every right to believe that this theme was just meant for the trailer, why else would a seemingly “scrapped” theme have so many leitmotif’s scattered throughout the game ( and its sequels.) and the theme itself not being used.
Yk it's funny. When I was little, this game used to scare the shit out of me (especially that damn baby). Now I'm sitting here is 2020 with my nintendo switch playing the 3RD game of the series. I know some of you won't agree on this, but it feels like the series lost the scare as it went on. It almost feels as if Nintendo is trying to appeal to the younger audience. And honestly, I am very proud of how this series turned out.
If there is one thing I'd like to see before I die, it'll be a remastered version of the first game, kinda like a throwback.
I couldn't have been happier with how Luigi's Mansion 3 turned out tbh. The colors, graphics and character expressions all look fantastic.

Thanks to my nearsightedness, I’ve noticed that the mansion exterior as seen above resembles a skull with the “teeth” being the front gate and the “eyes” being the blue torches.

this theme, to me, encapsulates what i find so eerie about Luigi's Mansion. it sounds so uncanny, which is how i feel about the whole game, including the beta. like, the way the ghosts look and move, the strange sounding music, the fact that the game was supposed to take place literally in the dead of night, it's all so uncanny to me and that's exactly why i love this game and it's series.

So I'm not up to par with everyone in the chat, but I preordered Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for 3DS when I say it on a poster at my local GameStop. I knew nothing about it and thought it looked really cool because I'd been looking for a scary game to play. I had no background knowledge of the game, but I LOVED IT and beat the game in 3 days. I still play it to this day, but I've never completed the game. I'm just not ready to let go. Later on, I heard that there was an original Luigi's Mansion for gamecube. I got so excited and started looking for a working Gamecude and copy of Luigi's Mansion. I, to this day, still have not watched any gameplay of the game because when I do finally get my hands on the game, I want to have just as much fun exploring the game as I did with the 3DS version

@@GalaxyDogenut I got an original gamecube and a complete copy of Luigi's Mansion for it. I, however, still have not beat the game. Partially because I don't know how to save my progress. I have a memory card with lots of space, but still don't know if there is supposed to be some check point system to it. It's an 8 Megabyte memory card and the 1 save I somehow do have is for Luigi's Mansion. I do not own any other games for the gamecube. And believe it or not, I still have not watched any tutorials on the game. I beat the baby in the crib, got the power of fire and ice, and that's all that I remember. I haven't picked up the game in about a year, but now that you've reminded me, I'll be playing it again. I have it right next to me as a matter of fact. I hope that was helpful!

I want to slap everyone pretending this theme is better than the final version. It doesn't feet a european style mansion AT ALL, it could at best fit for a factory or whatever. Im glad they changed it. The final version is literally perfect for the mansion.

should have kept the game over and the 8 bit theme and in dark moon they shouldve kept poltergust 3000 and the return of the first mansion in dark moon
there isn't much of a difference between the poltergust 3000 and the 5000 just the strobulb and the dark light
eh, rather have it come to the switch since a lot of the younger kids (assuming Nintendo wants to give children who haven't played it yet a chance to play this masterpiece.) have moved over from the 3ds to the switch. Actually, I'd much rather have it come to both to cater to both the people who played it on gamecube and who haven't. Luigi's Mansion is so underrated, and it's so nice to see them loving the game with a remake (even if it's on an underpowered system). Dark Moon wasn't even a Luigi's Mansion game in my opinion. It was a great game, sure. Great controls, level design, *but levels are what killed it lol.* Compare dark moons atmosphere to the original game and you INSTANTLY see the difference, dark moon is too comedic, too bright, ghost are minions and aren't intimidating what so ever, and it's level based. Which takes 90% of your freedom and crushes it when the DS E. Gadd constantly harasses you with.
Sound design is ass too, along with the art style.

This is not really that creepy though. The final suits the mood of walking down dark hallways much better. This would make a great file select theme though.

@Baguette The BETA was only playable in 2000. This means NO one could Rip the BETA! Even there were no sites around 2000. So... There don't exist anything you could do to get the BETA. Nothing.
From what I heard there's around 50 copies of the beta version that somehow got released into the public. Theres probably like 10 out there somewhere now. Try looking on EBay or Amazon or something.
There was someone who was recreating the beta version of Luigi's Mansion. He had a RUclips channel showing gameplay and everything. His channel disappeared one day. I think it was called the Luigi's Mansion Beta revival project.

Not really a version thrown away, the Gameboy Timer was just to allow the player to play 24 minutes of the demo at E3, and this Gameover is just that a beta Gameover.
Ive heard that luigis mansion were supposed to be a real scary game from the beginning but they later changed that idea(That is the cause of the "luigi hanged shadow"that is a left over from that)
