  • The Compact Leg Sled is a machine that requires quite a few plates because the “real feel” is about 50% of the weight loaded on the machine. Adding the Powertec Ab Mat behind my lower back significantly increases the range of motion of the machine while at the same time, reducing the amount of weight I need to load on the machine for an effective and challenging work set.
    As I mentioned in my last video featuring the Powertec Ab Mat, I am a little late getting an Ab Mat, but I am finding plenty of great uses for it.
    Most of the equipment, attachments, and accessories I use can be found following the link in my RUclips bio / about page. I am an affiliate for Powertec, GymPin, and I have an Amazon affiliate store. Please consider using one of my affiliate links. Any time a purchase is made through my affiliate links, I could receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you make a purchase using the link, you help support this channel, but more importantly, it shows the company I am helpful to their brand. Thank you!

      That was a knee crack. Knees are actually feeling pretty good (even though it may not sound like it 🤓).

    How many 45s can you fit on each side of this?

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  3 месяца назад +1

      With the plates I have, about 8 per side which would exceed the machine’s 700 pound max weight capacity.

      @@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks! So there’s no need to get the 100lb plates everyone seems to say you need for it. How heavy do you usually go with this if you go that deep?

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  3 месяца назад +1

      @@RonMexico527 a lot of things to consider. How strong you are, your rep range, your range of motion. If it’s a slow, stretched, paused rep, 8 45s is all I need. In my review for the Leg Press Attachment, I load the sled up pretty heavy (not a huge stretch), but you can see how difficult I find heavier weights.

    So do you have lower back issues?

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  2 месяца назад +1

      As long as I stay away from certain exercises, I am good. For example, if I do something as simple as a non-chest supported cable row, I’ll tweak my back.

      @@HomeGymHacksandReviews i have a defect in my lumbar vertebrae that makes leg pressing problematic. Wasn’t sure what exactly affects your back. Thought it was cool that you can work around it with that pad. I might just stick with figuring out a hip belt squat set up.

      @@exothermic8525 I love belt squats. If you haven’t seen it, I have a new DIY Belt Squat video and videos for the Rhino and Squatmax. There are some days belt squats feel extremely therapeutic for my lower back.

    What’s the make and model of that machine? Looks good how compact it is

      It’s the Powertec Compact Leg Sled. Pretty small footprint aside from the weight horns. I have a full review for this new model if you want to check it out.

    lol range of motion means nothing when your are on your toes. I would prefer to stay on my heels over range motions. You will have to work on ankle mobility and hip mobility to loosen up.

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  3 месяца назад

      I definitely need to work on ankle mobility. However, what you said is not true. Please look up Petersen Leg Press. Also, there are plenty of videos of Tom Platz and Frank Zane performing hack squats and other leg movements with their heels intentionally off the platform.

      Being on your toes with that ROM could just be a great quad focused variation though
