    Hello. I've been getting a 4 code difference between ISO 11500 and ISO 4407 for hydraulic oils. Which method would you consider more reliable?

    Is there any guideline describing selection criteria between ISO 4407 and ISO 11500 ?

      It's mainly time. ISO 11500 being completely automated makes it more appropriate for large scale lab analysis.

    My lab said they cannot do particle count analysis on used engine oils. They said it is more designed for "clearer" hydraulic oils. Is this normal? I wanted to see how effective my reusable stainless steel mesh oil filter was working. I was very disappointed to hear this. I am assuming they use the laser test method, then correct?
