  • NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (LP - Parrot 71003) 'Wendy' is a stellar cut included on the B-side of the exclusively issued in the USA album featuring instrumental versions of hit songs made popular by the Four Seasons and the Beach Boys. Recorded in early 1965 at London's Pye Studios, the elusive album released in April 1965 which was available in both stereo and monophonic, packs quite a wallop. Produced by Andrew Loog Oldham and engineered by Ray Prickett, the majority of the David Whittaker arrangement are percussive, drum laden creations with a hefty mix of the style of American record producers, Bob Crewe and Phil Spector. Atmospheric and wonderful 'Wall Of Sound' music absolutely explodes out of the grooves. The concept of the album was one side of the long player featured songs by Four Seasons who recorded on the east coast in New York City, and on the other side, were tunes by the Beach Boys who recorded in Los Angeles on the west coast. A clever idea that also included an original track on each side that was composed by Oldham and arranger David Whittaker. Presented here is the stereo version of the Brian Wilson and Mike Love composition, 'Wendy' , which displays a fabulous aural musical experience that was brilliantly engineered by Ray Prickett.
In 2013, the album was reissued on compact disc in Japan and included both monophonic and stereo mixes along with two addition tracks, 'Rag Doll' (stereo and mono) and 'Theme From The Dick Van Dyke Show' (mono).

Love this album, fantastic orchestrations and arrangements - almost Wall of Sound like in it's style. My fave track is Save It For Me.
