You brought up an excellent point regarding the fact that season two could be presented in the format it was truly meant for: television.

We can only hope. The only thing that could hold it back would be Part 2 being multiple seasons as there would be years in between breaking up the story, which the game didn't have to deal with.

It’s just like how people who watch the show needs to know the story of bill and frank just like the games the games told it subtle and the left behind is the most important part of the whole story

Specifically, I don’t like what they did with the infected in the TV show. HBO cheaped out by not adding the spores, they're far more threatening than the fungal roots they used.

And more dangerous too. Wish there was more infected because there were too many episodes where one didn't even make a brief appearance.

I'm actually getting a new microphone soon so we might sound vastly different soon enough.

I think the issue is that Ellie didn't feel like Ellie, at least for me. She lacked a lot of the innocence and kindness that I saw in Ellie in The Last of Us . She felt more like the Ellie in the second game.

@@matthewjuasemai3257 I think the issue the person above had is probably not that she looked different, but that she felt different too. I never played the games or watched the shows so I don't have a dog in this fight. I did like your breakdown.
As much as I want to go back to the original one day, I will probably never touch part 2 or the show. From what I hear, from online, to interviews, to friends opinions, is ultimately spite of the original, characters of the original and ultimately fans of the original.
I was wondering what are some shows you've been watching that you won't be making videos on. Any comfort shows, things that dissapointed you, or anything that took you by surprise?

Part II is a logical continuation of the story and themes of the first game. Both games together tell a larger story that enhance each other. Regardless of whatever the fuck you've heard online (don't get me started on the largely bullshit, bad faith "discourse" around the game)... it is worth playing through (if you have the means, PLAY IT, don't watch it. It is a game, it is meant to be played). You should have your *own* opinions on things.
And the show is great, too. It is an adaptation, it is a separate canon (i.e. the story of the games is separate from that of the show). It doesn't care much about superficial crap, and chooses to remain faithful to the most important thing: the core of the characters, the tone, and the themes. Then it takes creative liberties to do things somewhat or even COMPLETELY differently. The show is a separate thing. It is not trying to replace the game; neither thing is a replacement for the other. The show is trying to tell that same story via a different medium, hoping to utilize its strengths.
I really like it for what it is. It is a worthy adaptation of the games. And it is really nice to see new players who play the games because of the shows. I very much look forward to seeing how they adapt the second game.

@ignorethis214 Sometimes I'll watch a show that I'm planning on making a video on but then end up feeling indifferent towards like Andor. That was a show that disappointed me.
Sometimes, there are shows that I love but choose not to make a video on because I haven't seen them in a while and I want to rewatch them before I make a video. That's what I did with Black Clover.
Two shows that I watched recently that I probably won't be making a video on are Fallout and Reacher. I enjoyed both, especially Fallout. But I don't feel strong enough about either to make a video.
Two anime that took me by surprise would be Heavenly Delusion because it is excellently written but not a lot of people have been talking about it. and the other would be ID: Invaded because it isn't the greatest anime in the world but it hit right with me and I loved the main character. Also Kaiju no. 8 too because it wasn't what I expected and at first that disappointed me but now I really love that anime.
I don't really have any comfort shows. Same with games. once I've watched something I'm done with it. Only very rarely do I ever return to something I've watched before and that's usually if there's another season. That might change as I get older though.

@@SidPhoenix2211 They did an overall excellent job with the show, and like you said neither feels like a replacement for the other. just two alternate takes of the same well-crafted story.
I'm very interested in how season two adapts the game as I think it has the potential to really expand on it.
Personally, I didn't like the second game because of how small (whilst still important) Joel's role in that game was. (Whilst I like Ellie, I never found her as interesting as Joel.) And more importantly, the structure of the game. How the first half was Ellie and then halfway through the game sort of resets for Abby. And I didn't like the ending, I think Ellie should have killed Abby (which I think was the original planned ending for the game before it was apparently changed for being too dark.)

@@Lunaxrose It's good to listen to the thoughts and opinions of others but you should always experience something for yourself. There are plenty of things that people love that I don't like and vice versa. I would never know that without giving them a chance.

I would say the last of us game (part one) is superior to season 1 of the show, but the entirety of the show, including season 2 and maybe 3, is going to be the better saga. cuz they rly messed up on Tlou part 2. it had so much potential and just cuz of the messy timeline and of course 10 hours of Abby it fell short. Season 1 and 2 of the show will lead into each other better and make some of the plot points more realistic and less frustrating (like the golf thingy with Joel).

    • @liamnidas
      @liamnidas  3 месяца назад

I agree. I just hope they restructure the story a little because I don't know how well it will be received if season 2 is Ellie's story (which will probably be received fine) but then season three is completely Abby.
