Same. Never played a game that made me feel all these emotions. I think I'll really feel about this game what we may feel about a particular movie or story that we loved as kids, that really stayed with us and has a special place in our hearts.

@@raffiboy9426 lol choom, I don't think the devs would agree with you on that. There's a pretty diverse cast of characters, there's gay characters (Judy) and even a trans character (the bartender in the afterlife) I don't care if a game is "woke" as long as the game itself is good.
When this game came out, I was trying to tell people that it was going to be a repeat of New Vegas, where a buggy launch didn't stop it from being the type of game we'd be making essays about and putting on a pedestal for years. It's gratifying that we are getting to that place, where it's being recognized for how creative and detailed it is in so many ways.

The depth of this game is unreal. Especially if you take the time to read and connect people and events. Sometimes you’ll read a shard then find a body later. It’s something else. Tragic more than anything, but still amazing.
August 2024 I'm a new cyberpunk player with a brand new top of the line PC to get immersed and this game is changing my life. I've been angry at the industry making games and this game was a staple for that when it came out but, keeping up with the game and finally playing it because of the updates, this is what I've been needing in gaming
I’ve been a gamer since gaming began and I’m talking digital ping pong… never have I played a game that has soooooo much in it and put together so well. I’m on my 7th play through and pretty sure I’ve clocked up more hours than you. Cyberpunk is not a game but a lifestyle. CD Project Red took gaming to a new level and even though it’s not multiplayer , the graphics, the environments and with so much activity in game is phenomenal to the point of consuming the player and the fact it was broken on release to the ongoing patching, all involved in this masterpiece of a game deserves so much acclaim and awards. IMO this is the best game to date.
To me its the best game till date too. What an experience....i love bg3 but the combat and gameplay ecperience was a slog....cp77 overral to me is a much more immersive game. Cp77 is THE best game to me
Ya i agree. Been gaming for 20 plus years and both CDPR games, witcher 3(still goat for me) and cyberpunk are 2 of my fav games ever. Cdpr is my fav studio right now, because they make the most detailed and immersive games. There are other great games like rdr2 , ghost of tsushima etc , but cyberpunk and witcher 3 feels more special to me. CDPR has taken gaming to the next level imo with their production. There other studios like rockstar that does do some of it , but it mostly in graphics and tech, but their games all feel the same with the same design. But Cdpr games just feels better and much more immersive.
Just curious… have you played Red Dead Redemption 2? It’s the only game I’ve ever played with a similar level of narrative, character, world-building, and attention to detail. The Witcher 3 is also up there, of course.

For those who don't run around the city, and only run to objectives.... you're missing out, in a major way. I have started just running around, using the movement system to navigate on foot.... and if you don't do so extensively, you are driving right past just how detailed and beautiful Night City actually is. There is so much to see in the side streets, back alleys, and spaces between. When I finally did just that, I was blown away by just what I was missing in the gaps that the game doesn't tell you to navigate and explore. Go for a walk, anywhere, and you'll quickly see what I mean. I ended up just running around for about three hours, and got into a countless number of smaller fights with gangs, corps, and discovered hidden skill and ability shards, as well as areas that were actually designed and fleshed out for no other reason than those that went looking would find them.... hidden terraces, balconies, and other little gems. I also gained 6 levels doing "nothing." You owe it to yourself to immerse yourself in the mundane this world has to offer. The city is the most profound character you'll meet.
you're actually really right, walking around town showed me the fact that I hadn't even begun to properly explore the game and I found so many interesting nooks and crannies. Bonus point if you turn off the hud completely and just walk around with no idea where you are. It's actually super fun.
I’m 52. I have about 700 hours in this game. It’s entertainment and escapism at its best. Can’t wait for the next game. This is the first game I’ve ever really gotten really emotional about while playing. I think I’ve played all the endings, and some have literally made me cry. And I’m usually a pretty stoical person.

As someone that grew up with Cyberpunk as a tabletop game. Playing this game hit me hard. It was like reading about some place for years only to finally visit it. CDPR really did a great job with the setting. So many little callouts and references to the existing lore while also build on that lore in a very believable way.
This! I feel anyone that played either the original box set or the Cyberpunk 2020 edition from back in 88 or 90, this game hit the hardest. Cause it was more than just a video game. It was an immersion into our childhood.
This game... I think the only one that made me tear up. It just hits something right. And oh boy it's fucking beautiful. I have stopped several times in Dog Town to just look at the scenary, the reflections, the lights, the atmosphere. I wish CDPR would have released it in a 2.0 state. It's probably my favorite game and I can't wait for the sequel.
If it had released in the 2.0 state, it would probably be considered one of the greatest games of all time. It still is, but the haters would've had no ground to stand on.
@@asfandope it is one of the greatest games created, but I doubt even 2.0 would have lived up to the hype. People still cry, that wall running idea was shown somewhere, but later scraped. It had unrealistic standards, but at least nobody could have said, it's a buggy mess and ignore the fact, that it's fixed (I had WAAAAY more bugs in Wither 3 than I did in Cyberpunk 2.0)

Play it in VR with immersion mods (eating, drinking, stress, sleep, cyberpsychosis, socializing etc...) You'll never want to remove the googles and come back irl
One of my favorite genres of videos right now is people playing through Cyberpunk 2077 for first time, just so I can experience that feeling of seeing Night City for the first time and the emotional weight of the choices and characters as the story advances. I've played the game through 5 or 6 times, and I feel like I appreciate and love it more each time. Your love letter captures it perfectly, this game is a masterpiece, and one I expect I'll be coming back to for years, always hoping and searching for a happy ending that will never come.
I just started it for the first time the other day, and I know with big games like this, the more familiar it becomes, the smaller the world feels, just like real cities. So for now, i'm just enjoying walking around the city and soaking in all the new sights and sounds.
after 4 years, still can't stop playing this game. from time to time i start a new game and get lost in the world for more than 150+ hours. and man most of the sayings in this game is so close to the real world and the world we are heading towards.
The game is truly remarkable. The corpo lifepath feels the most thematic and fitting to me. Here you have V, an experienced loyal operative of Arasaka, already a good friend of Jackie, working in a dark tower full of self-serving vile individuals under an evil boss that sets you up for failure. V is sent out to do evil from the tower only to be chewed up and spit out like trash. V falls from a world of iniquity only to fall even further after the heist, but, after witnessing Saburo's assasination, is given a relic that is both blessing and a curse and a new undead friend to help V rise up and become an avenging angel of retribution. I like to play corpo V as a stealth infiltrator with netrunning expertise which matches her counter-intel background. This V does not run, but rather walks into a trouble spot, calmly assesses the situation, and surgically picks it apart with an enhanced Arasaka cyberdeck, a silenced pistol, and a katana, using the exact same kind of tech that once made her a rising star in her former life. This V doesn't want to be famous, only feared as the unseen angel of death of Night City, the one who switches all the living 1's to dead 0's...if the price is right. And the only true ending for me is "Don't Fear the Reaper". It perfectly completes the corpo V's story arc, and exacts final revenge in the most devastating and satisfying way possible.
And last heist by Mr. Blue Eyes. It will be V's last. Let's all hope Mr. Blue Eyes will recover the chip so we'll see V again since the engram of V is on the chip now
Wonderful video. Every time I listen to these retrospectives, I tear up just thinking about how much this game affected me and how much it meant to me. The characters that enter your life in the game stuck with me in a way I didn't think possible. Just a masterpiece of storytelling.
Absolutly right. After i saw the first e3 trailer and later the e3 demo, i knew this is very special. The art style, the music, the characters, the stories and the vibe and all this together, you get a outstanding experience. Thanks CD Project and i am curious to see what ´s coming with project orion.
Cyberpunk is such a beautiful game it’s disturbing how we can see our world inside of it so much that we can’t look away it feels like a warning almost in a piece of art
I just finished my cyberpunk playthrough for the first time when I started in June, this is one of the very few games that I actually liked and finished it to the complete end (side missions and even spent money on Phantom Liberty because it was so good). And the meaning behind the game has definitely impacted my life as well.
I recently came across a simulation idea that has changed my perspective on so many things, I implore anyone reading to try a playthrough where you just assume that everyone in the city is real and caring for them, almost as a guardian angel being as non lethal as possible, contains within it a lot of secrets that the game will show you, good luck on your journey.
Not sure about that better burn out than fade away. Vic definitely would not agree with you. Him being basically last one of chums of his youth that is alive, all because all wanted to went big...and some surely did and thanks to him they stayed alive bit longer. And Misty would definitely not agree. Her, first loosing Jackie after she had warned him, which he partialy waved away, but still took to heart as it was his usual way of live. Unlike V, somehow, Jackie was ready to go in every single run. But back to Misty. Her and other mililons of ordinary ppl of NC. Living namelessly. Same goes for Vic, Mama Wales, Rivers sister and her kids preparing diner while somewhere some other runner is again gunning for Big leagues, probably dying in process. This is possibly part of NC you missed in video, but it is also important one. Because when Johny blew up Sakka tower, he also killed lot of this ppl. And thrown NC into age of Red, with big gaping radioactive hole right in middle of the city.basically giving rise of gangs of battlezones that have shaped NC almost as massively as later reconstruction of that gaping hole by Aldecaldos construction workers. Whos again, did much more by being workers than wariors. Nameless operators of big construction machines. So although Afterlife is glorified and sold out Rogue is taking face as leader of rebels, real heroes of NC are its ordinary ppl. (even that their lives are often at mercy of chromed up borgs and runners). Well there is not good ends in NC and there also is no heroes there. But still, some days are good days, right?
I REALLY love this perspective, and it's actually hitting me how I never thought about it like. My perspective of this story sort of stems from my own personal worldview, coming from a rather unstable 3rd world country where your day to day actions are often interrupted by potentially life altering events. And it's more common to view the faceless are those who're not willing to give everything they have for what they believe is right regardless of consequences but rather those who work to keep the system that oppresses them working. Having said that, I definitely appreciate your perspective and made me realise that just like my version of V, I didn't stop to think as much how my ambitions and motivations could negatively impact those I loved and cared for. It also makes sense that I didn't really love phantom liberty cure ending where V is now one of these many faceless.
@@asfandope I kinda caught that from other vid about Vic and how he is actually living relatively normal live right next to all runners. Also whole Phantom Liberty ending talk with Misty is kinda just about that there is tons of invisible normal ppl in there and V just saw the greatness of Big Leagues but there can be greatness in small things like rising your childern or caring about your customers. @@asfandope NC is not doomed as it seems, it was after all originaly build as utopic city independant on some bad organizations in NUSA and Mr. Night was quite genious Architect. Sadly, he was killed by gangers that disaprove his vision and whole NC fell into hands of corporations....that first followed his vison, but then corpo wars started and all went to hell.
Great video! I think you summed up most of how I felt playing it. There were a few times I needed to take like a 10 minute break after playing through some heavy moments.

Cyberpunks ending was one of the most profound media experiences I have ever had. The game is one of the best , although it has issues, but it is a game that is different from others and goes into a different level of immersion than any other game imo.
Damn. I’m a 500+ hour player and I thought I was obsessed. (Hence me getting this and every other Cyberpunk related video in my algorithm) The people who passed on this game because of its rocky launch are genuinely missing out on the best game I’ve ever played.
I've never had an experience in any sort of medium like CP77. I'm right there with ya how this game came at such a perfect time and has become an experience I wish everyone could truly go through. Absolute masterpiece.

I have been playing video games of some sort since the early 1980s. I have always been a casual/low motivated gamer. I never pay full price for a AAA game - I wait for the price to drop. I also rarely finish a big game - I usually either get stuck or bored and move on to something else. I bought Cyberpunk 2077 in March '23 (on sale of course) and finally got around to installing and starting it about a year ago. From the start of this game, I was pulled into Night City and Cyberpunk 2077 in a way I have never experienced with a game in my life. Now, I have over 1100 hours in the game. I have recently started a couple of other games, but I am always drawn back to cyberpunk - I miss Night City and the characters in this game. Some of the endings still bring tears, no matter how many playthroughs I make.
@@section8230 it's a powerful game, the graphics are great and all and it's a fun game but what really pulls you in is the living breathing world and a narrative that feels oddly personal. It's easily one of the greatest pieces of art I've ever picked up.
Cyberpunk is a beautiful game, and it does an excellent job at telling us to steer away from that world and the decisions the characters in it make. The answer to Night City is to leave. The blaze of glory of Silverhand is pointless, the suicide hurts everyone, selling your soul isn't worth it, trying to become a legend at the expense of other people always comes back to bite you. Ultimately, leaving Night City, like some versions of Judy, Panam, and Misty is the way to go. Johnny's path is one of a terrible person who brings only pain. Jackie and T-Bug trying to do something too big so they could "make it" got them killed. Viktor Vector eventually loses his store to the corpos. In the end, the only good world is the one where you realize you don't need to stay in the pain engine, you can just go away.
This game is beyond replayable especially with phantom liberty. If only the main story came out with phantom liberty depth of gameplay. Either this game is a beautiful art piece we should all endulge in.
honestly, 2077 will allways have a special place in my heart. When it launched, it was the only thing keeping me... sane during the last few days my grandfater had. he died 9 days after this game released. I keep coming back to it because even though it was a buggy mess back then, it was still an amazing game. The story was heartbreakingly good, the music, even by itself, is amazing. i still listen to most of Samurai's songs almost daily.
I came to this game late, not on release. This was mainly because I wanted to experience the game with the requisite gameplay fixes in place. Message to game studios: “Don’t let the Corpo suits railroad you into early release”. That aside when I started to play I became immersed and addicted to it. You become part of these people. I cried at Evelyn’s decline, I delighted in Panam’s spirit, I loved Jackie’s loyalty and Judy’s naïveté. CDPR is one of the greatest storytelling studios since Black Isle. But you put into words my feelings as I played. Thankyou choom.

Jackie’s death still haunts me; the way Misty kept going, holding on to whatever she could; Evelyn’s life unravelling into tragedy; Judy trying to find something to hold onto after Evelyn was gone; Delamain leaving with his children, his voice echoing one last time before disappearing from the city; Johnny and Alt fading beyond the Blackwall, knowing they’d never come back; River trying to hold his family together; Takemura’s fate uncertain, like he was another casualty of the city's unforgiving nature; Rogue still chasing a life that had slipped away long ago; Saul’s death, Scorpion’s loss-it all left this emptiness. These weren’t just moments in a game; they felt real, and it was like I was mourning people I knew. And V… V with Panam and the Aldecaldos, trying to make a life out in the desert, away from the chaos. It feels like they’ve all been through enough, like they deserve a break from it all, even if they’re just game characters. It’s hard to imagine putting them through that again, and it feels like starting over would only be a reminder of everything they lost. I want to let them move on, to leave behind all the things Night City took from them and find some peace, however small. I’ve never felt this way about a game before. RDR2 was emotional and close to my heart, but Cyberpunk felt different-it felt deeply personal. I wasn’t just following a story; I was there, feeling it with them. Now, I just want to let them go, to let the city and everything that happened stay in the past. It’s like I need to let them rest and finally leave it all behind. Cyberpunk made me feel human in a way I didn’t expect." Edit: Well some time later of completing it for first time and letting it rest, I started replaying it. And Night City, with its chaos and pain , felt familiar-like a place you can’t help but come back to. There’s a strange comfort in the hurt, and that bittersweet feeling hit me all over again.
I played this game from launch on pc. At the time I was dying and related a lot to V’s story. I managed to survive and completely changed my life. Now, I’m finding new ways to relate to the story of other characters, namely Rogue. I got into a relationship with a guy a lot like Johnny and he managed to play me for a fool. I never used to understand Rogue or how she fell for him in the first place, nor how she could possibly still have feelings about him after everything that happened. But now I do. I think as I experience life more, I’ll find myself understanding characters I’d previously had a hard time empathizing with. The story and its characters have helped me see the flaws within myself much clearer than before. I will always recommend 2077 to people doing some soul-searching and introspection.

Night City is such a beautiful hellscape and this game is not just a mere game but absolute art and the embodiment of why video games are my favorite medium with stories that are so unbelievably deep that rival.the best novels the visuals of a movie but you get to immerse yourself into it and be a part of it and experience it you become V you help or kill these characters you took out Adam Smasheryou explored this city gahhh it's just magical and I love it so damn much I wish this level of passion and heart being involved with making and crafting these works of art was more common place instead of how so many are only focused on the money and missing the most important thing the soul
Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely an experience and I am at almost 600 hours in total. The city, the people the stories have definitely had a huge impact on me. It makes you think, question what you would do in certain situations, even what is the true nature of being human, and the measure of a person's life. It also is becoming uncomfortably closer and closer to real life. Sometimes I like to just log in and walk the streets and explore. And this is probably the first video game where I have gone out of my way to listen tot he soundtrack outside of the game and yeah the music is very powerful and relevant to the story points. Not many games where you can hear a few opening bars and immediately specific characters and your experiences with them in game come to mind. And I can probably count on one hand the number of games that have had an emotional impact on the level of this game. Heck this game even helped me work through some really dark times too. Not many game studios would have the guts to explore the impact of suicide on those left behind. Shit that post credit call from Judy broke me when I played out that ending,
So, so much of what you said throughout this video really touched me. Like you, I've rarely experienced art that perfectly straddles the line between feeling repulsed at injustice and horror but also captivated by a persistent sense of opportunity and the feeling that tomorrow will be better than today. I am a big lover for rpgs. I always thought something like Skyrim would be my home, but then Cyberpunk 2077 comes in. It was the game that buried itself into me and I felt like I had roots in that world. It turns out, my home is Night City and it'll never faint away.

What a wonderful video bro! I couldn't have said it better myself. I just really love this game, It's depth and immersion is unmatched. I can never forget experiencing the ending it for the first time and being faced with the impossible choice, It helped me reflect on what I was going through at the time which made me fall in love with this game so much despite it's flaws at the time. later on when i played phantom liberty and I reached the killing moon ending, I was in utter awe by the choice I took and how natural it felt to me to take this choice without a second thought or doubt. I had to just sit there and think as I watched the rain in game and in real life in the window beside and think.. if i could make this choice if the the stakes were real. I was SOOO immersed and fascinated by the amazing writing and story of phantom liberty, It deserves so much more recognition and praise. Despite the futuristic dystopian theme of V's story and struggle, It still felt very relatable very human and I can't get enough of the world of cyberpunk! you have managed to capture and articulate all of the feelings i have for this game in a beautiful way. whenever i think about cyberpunk i feel a captivating void within me; there's something deeply depressing yet beautiful about this game. there is nothing else like it and i highly doubt there ever will be. my favourite pieces of media usually are those that hold a mirror up to the reality i have lived in but im not running around chromed up and getting in gunfights. but i am someone whos trying to find themselves in a world that is constantly telling you who to be and what to do. cyberpunk is a warning of the future we are heading in and how helpless we are. AI is getting better, social media is becoming more integral to connection, the rich are getting richer and corporations are watching over everything while clinking their wine glasses giggling at how everything is going to their malicious plan. but if you take a slow walk around the city you see small pockets of humanity. whether it'd be a kid playing hopscotch, two friends gossiping at a foodstand, or a cleaner who does their job despite knowing that everything will be dirty again by their next shift. in a future where everything has collapsed and faded away there is still a slither of life. sure while V may of murdered a few thousand people, they are someone who despite having every single odd against them and literal death breathing down their neck, they're someone who is trying to make a difference. they have seen the highest highs and the lowest lows many times over yet they keep pushing; fighting to make the world a better place, at least for themself. what an amazing protagonist to play as. after pushing it back for a whole year due to life happening i have finally started playing phantom liberty. i know i am not prepared for it or how it's going to impact me after but i know that whatever the ride is, I am all for it. seriously amazing vid. i know people like this game but it's really reassuring knowing there are people who see it the same way I do, people who see it more than just a game. wishing you nothing but the best

As an o.g. 'runner, (I got into cyberpunk & scifi in '93 or so when I saw T1 & T2, Bladerunner and had read Neuromancer/Snowcrash) I think part of the beauty of this game was that it mirrored reality far too closely (even down to having the greedy money men rushing out a not-quite-ready-product) and came out at a pivotal time in all of our lives... As someone who was laid up from Feb to late July in 2020 (work injury of 2-broken limbs) I spent a lot of time watching and assessing things and was almost sickly shocked when reality as we were living it seemed to mirror many of the themes and motifs that are part & parcel of this genre... To then finally get the chance to escape the insanity of the reality that we were then living, well, my V did everything BUT the "bad" ending of the Devil, and I won't lie, I was genuinely smitten with the relationship that V and Judy would have in their interactions... As a nomad rocker-chick, I laughed and rejoiced with the ending when my V & Judy left Night City & sought some measure of freedom from the tyranny of the mechanized world of sin & decadence alongside Panam and the Aldecaldos... I won't lie, I saw for them the possibility of freedom, rebirth and the hope that they would find a way to remove the chip and forge a new path for their lives...

I'm just glad this game allowed me to focus on what's so wrong with our world but also the small things that still make life worth it: the ones we love and smile with.
I initially played this game because my sisters been hyped for this since the first trailer came out in I think 2013 but damn the game is amazing. I actually played on release and while, yes, it was buggy at first I was still absolutely in love with night city and seeing all the hate cyberpunk got actually made me sad. I can never put into words just how nuch this game means to me, including the side quests, main quests, gigs, characters, background stories, lore, the music.. just pretty much everything. I spent more than 700hours in Night city, and I know for sure I'll be back. I am a 51years old gamer, I play computer games since maybe 1986-87 and yes, I have never been immersed and invested in a game like this before (and I also played to the M. Pondsmith table RPG at highschool and college). The first run I finished put me in a mood I never felt after any other video game. A kind of melancholia with a bit of emptyness, thinking for hours about the NPC, the city and crazy aventures I had, the choices I made and mistake I thought I made. Time to time I am listening Kerry's boat song and it bring me back to this feeling. CDProjekt bring us a masterpiece, Is it perfect ? No. Could it have been better ? probably. But the writing, the characters, the lore, the music, the differents area mood, the artistic direction, the rythm, the musics , the shade of grey, and obviously Night CIty , all bring together are so special, unique, immerisived, well balanced... I am still hoping to see another so rich story cinematographic immersive RPG game based and somewhere, I am afraid I will never have this game experience again.

The best compliment I can give to a game and story is I kept thinking about the story long after I experience it. Love this game! Its up there with Witcher 3and RDR1/2 games. Agree with the music. Every time I hear songs from this game I remember the feeling and my experience. Phantom liberty also amazing. You absolutely nailed what makes Cyberpunk 2077 so magic and gripping! In regard to your point about not fast-travelling; I fast-travelled once and immediately felt like I'd robbed myself, never did it again. My only hope is that whatever comes next, Project Orion or whatever it may be, captures magic once again.
I'm in the same boat. To up the immersion further I'd even take the metro train after the update introduced it. The immersion in this game is almost unparalleled.
Doubt this will be scene but you nearly hit the nail on the head this game is the love letter and we are the recipients as it shows us an almost perfect reflection of our world but taken to the extreme in some areas to show us that no matter where you are in life it will all go down the same way maybe with some differences here and there but by the end we all die what matters is how we spend the time we have and what connection it has when we leave

This game, I simply lack the words to describe how I feel about it. Sure, I happen to be quite fresh to the game (barely hit 3 digit playtime, and maybe playing for 2 months now), but the world it takes place and it’s story, it simply grabbed me. I came from the ttrpg RED to this game, and as gamemaster I used the system myself to create a world, a story for my players to enjoy but mainly to warn of the path our current world is taking. Of course I ennobled the actions of my party, but it wouldn’t be quite the exaggeration to say CD did the same to V, or Johnny, or literally any of the characters we love soo much in this game. This game, with a story that perfectly managed to capture and show what I tried to achieve with my campaigns, showing how if we aren’t careful, our own future will look like this. And hey, even we try to ennoble our own actions, telling us what we do is what we have to do, we did right and others are the reason for our own failure? They created the mirror we might need ourself the most, by letting us see how V tried to leave a mark on the world that ends up changing and, depending on the ending, swallowing V. Being an old grunt having played the original CP2020, as a GM, back in the beginning of the 90s I really love the world as creates in the game. Updated to stand up to the sands of time, but still keeping the relevant core.
Cyberpunk 2077 feels like a club/ party experience: you're there lost in the weeds, searching, hoping, waiting to reconnect with the people who are your little oases in Night City: Jackie, Johnny, Panam, Judy, Rogue, Takemura, etc. I think that's the amazing thing about the game and what it says about our lives: that amongst all this soup of what seems like a dystopian reality, the connections we make are what give life weight and importance. It may not matter in the scheme of things, but it matters to you, to all of us.

Loved this game so much it’s on my Mount Rushmore of games. Beautifully designed, great character interaction, the list could go on. I just didn’t want it to end when playing it. Great game and great video. ❤
yes, i've played about 250 hours of this masterpiece. I've done ALL the content but i still drive/walk around the city once a week to just explore every nook and cranny that this world offers, well designed and full of amazing level design for a game that came out 4 years ago. Phantom Liberty sections/Dogtown are even better. It's the best looking game i've ever played. (when at 4k with ultra everything on ). I don't think i'll ever be wowed so much in any game in the future. Yes, the sequel will no doubt be as good, but we've seen this world now and the jump to this massive world was huge from what came before it, so we've been "exposed" to this huge world already. I know Batman games are good, but this city, Night City is on another level. I cried at the end of my playthrough (got the space ending). I'm not an rpg fan, but this, this is my favourite game ever. Story, characters, music, gameplay...absolutely blows me away.
Couldn't sum it up better, I finished the game yesterday and I immediately wanted to play again, with slightly different choices. Only one negative thing was it seemed too easy on normal difficulty, but the story and characters are absolutely unique. It was like reading insanely good, thought provoking book.
Beside all the other superlatives, I think the most accurate one is that Cyberpunk is the most immersive game ever made to date. It's not perfect, of course, but from the moment you step out of H-10 into the streets the city instantly swallows you whole. The way dialogue is handled, the worldbuilding, the CHARACTERS, the way all of it comes together in this incredibly dense and believable environment can often give this uncanny feeling of being in two places, being two people, at once. It's one of very few games I would describe as having a soul, which is funny considering the story. I think now the launch bugs hurt the game way worse than it being incomplete or poorly balanced, because its insanely immersive experience was always there from the beginning; it was just how long could it be maintained before the game broke again and took you out of it. It truly is a masterpiece of immersion, and I believe it's that soul of Night City and Cyberpunk overall that leaves its mark on us and is what keeps us coming back.

I totally get what you are saying, I have over 800 hours in the game myself for exactly the same reasons. I have Spotify playlist called "Blood Pump" with 90 minutes of my favourite tracks from the soundtrack and it will outperform everything else when the year's recap comes out. So thank you for this and keeping it so spoiler free that I can share it with people who have not played it yet, but should.

I actually had some background with the franchise before the game came out. Years ago I got into the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop rpg and would read all the pdf's but I could never find a group to play with so I gave up, then when Cyberpunk 2077 came out it felt familiar, like I had been there before in the past. It added a bit to the experience for me. Since then I bought all of the Cyberpunk 2020 ttrpg books, all of Cyberpunk RED's books and ran a couple of games. I love this setting so much, man.

The Edgerunners Mission Kit updated RED for the 2070's and it's cool as hell, let's you run Edgerunners and 2077 era games in it.
I totally agree with your opening comments, I have over 2700 hours in this game and have played it since it's release, and have never had an issue with it's "horrible release". I have not played any other game over 800 hours. I struggle in finding another game to play to capture my attention that this game does. Before finding this video I was siting at my computer trying to decide which game to play, or even looking for another to download, but have not found anything that I felt deserves my attention and time as Cyberpunk does. I have played every life path, male and female, with every ending and most of PL endings. I do love all the characters and the story telling. I too have got caught up in the emotional rollercoaster that this story takes you on. Night City is one of the most beautiful cities in any game, despite of all the trash around the city. The colors, the lights and building are beautiful. I also agree that I love the music this game. The only other game that has possibly better music (That I have played) is Mafia III, I am a big fan of that error of music, music I grew up with. I followed Pawel Sasko's Twitch channel and loved his story telling of the game as he played it and gave so much info about developing the game. TO Listen to him and other developers talk about how horrible the release was and how devoted they were to making it better, they actually put their heart and soul into this game, and this end result is a pure result of it Some of my friends make fun of me for this being the only game I play, ask me if I care... I am totally addicted to it. :)

But the fact that they stuck with it, and constantly giving us quality updates and a masterpiece of a DLC goes to show why they have such a positive reputation in the industry
I've been playing this game since Patch 1.5 dropped...literally thousands of hours. This is not to mention the RUclips videos I've watched or the discussions on various forums. What I find is that the individual reactions to the game vary widely...extremely widely. But I have to agree that Night City feels alive, and that life...as dangerous and often disappointing and inevitably tragic as it ends up...is what pulls us in and doesn't let go. It's a masterpiece.
@@davidanderson5259 the game had a lot of highs and lows in game and in real life during development. There were legit babies born during the time of the first accouncement that are now 12 years old. During that time lots of expectations and opinions were formed and the rocky launch didn't help. Granted I love the hell out of this game and could not recommend it enough, I can imagine why others would feel strongly against it.
I've been just properly been getting into it and it's honestly changed my life as stupid as that might sound. I've been depressed for quite some time but this game with everything that you can do, basically living another life, has actually helped me out of my depression to some extent. Haven't even gotten half way through and it's by far the best and most influential game I've ever played.

When this game came out, I was trying to tell people that it was going to be a repeat of New Vegas, where a buggy launch didn't stop it from being the type of game we'd be making essays about and putting on a pedestal for years. It's gratifying that we are getting to that place, where it's being recognized for how creative and detailed it is in so many ways.

August 2024 I'm a new cyberpunk player with a brand new top of the line PC to get immersed and this game is changing my life. I've been angry at the industry making games and this game was a staple for that when it came out but, keeping up with the game and finally playing it because of the updates, this is what I've been needing in gaming

CD Project Red took gaming to a new level and even though it’s not multiplayer , the graphics, the environments and with so much activity in game is phenomenal to the point of consuming the player and the fact it was broken on release to the ongoing patching, all involved in this masterpiece of a game deserves so much acclaim and awards.
IMO this is the best game to date.

Ya i agree. Been gaming for 20 plus years and both CDPR games, witcher 3(still goat for me) and cyberpunk are 2 of my fav games ever. Cdpr is my fav studio right now, because they make the most detailed and immersive games. There are other great games like rdr2 , ghost of tsushima etc , but cyberpunk and witcher 3 feels more special to me. CDPR has taken gaming to the next level imo with their production. There other studios like rockstar that does do some of it , but it mostly in graphics and tech, but their games all feel the same with the same design. But Cdpr games just feels better and much more immersive.
Just curious… have you played Red Dead Redemption 2? It’s the only game I’ve ever played with a similar level of narrative, character, world-building, and attention to detail. The Witcher 3 is also up there, of course.

For those who don't run around the city, and only run to objectives.... you're missing out, in a major way.
I have started just running around, using the movement system to navigate on foot.... and if you don't do so extensively, you are driving right past just how detailed and beautiful Night City actually is. There is so much to see in the side streets, back alleys, and spaces between.
When I finally did just that, I was blown away by just what I was missing in the gaps that the game doesn't tell you to navigate and explore.
Go for a walk, anywhere, and you'll quickly see what I mean. I ended up just running around for about three hours, and got into a countless number of smaller fights with gangs, corps, and discovered hidden skill and ability shards, as well as areas that were actually designed and fleshed out for no other reason than those that went looking would find them.... hidden terraces, balconies, and other little gems.
I also gained 6 levels doing "nothing." You owe it to yourself to immerse yourself in the mundane this world has to offer.
The city is the most profound character you'll meet.
you're actually really right, walking around town showed me the fact that I hadn't even begun to properly explore the game and I found so many interesting nooks and crannies.
Bonus point if you turn off the hud completely and just walk around with no idea where you are. It's actually super fun.

This is the first game I’ve ever really gotten really emotional about while playing.
I think I’ve played all the endings, and some have literally made me cry.

As someone that grew up with Cyberpunk as a tabletop game. Playing this game hit me hard. It was like reading about some place for years only to finally visit it. CDPR really did a great job with the setting. So many little callouts and references to the existing lore while also build on that lore in a very believable way.

This! I feel anyone that played either the original box set or the Cyberpunk 2020 edition from back in 88 or 90, this game hit the hardest. Cause it was more than just a video game. It was an immersion into our childhood.
This game... I think the only one that made me tear up. It just hits something right. And oh boy it's fucking beautiful. I have stopped several times in Dog Town to just look at the scenary, the reflections, the lights, the atmosphere. I wish CDPR would have released it in a 2.0 state. It's probably my favorite game and I can't wait for the sequel.
If it had released in the 2.0 state, it would probably be considered one of the greatest games of all time.

@@asfandope it is one of the greatest games created, but I doubt even 2.0 would have lived up to the hype. People still cry, that wall running idea was shown somewhere, but later scraped. It had unrealistic standards, but at least nobody could have said, it's a buggy mess and ignore the fact, that it's fixed (I had WAAAAY more bugs in Wither 3 than I did in Cyberpunk 2.0)

One of my favorite genres of videos right now is people playing through Cyberpunk 2077 for first time, just so I can experience that feeling of seeing Night City for the first time and the emotional weight of the choices and characters as the story advances. I've played the game through 5 or 6 times, and I feel like I appreciate and love it more each time. Your love letter captures it perfectly, this game is a masterpiece, and one I expect I'll be coming back to for years, always hoping and searching for a happy ending that will never come.
it's definitely that game I'll be telling my kids about one day, along with other greats such as RDR2, Witcher 3 and such.
I just started it for the first time the other day, and I know with big games like this, the more familiar it becomes, the smaller the world feels, just like real cities.

The game is truly remarkable.
The corpo lifepath feels the most thematic and fitting to me. Here you have V, an experienced loyal operative of Arasaka, already a good friend of Jackie, working in a dark tower full of self-serving vile individuals under an evil boss that sets you up for failure. V is sent out to do evil from the tower only to be chewed up and spit out like trash. V falls from a world of iniquity only to fall even further after the heist, but, after witnessing Saburo's assasination, is given a relic that is both blessing and a curse and a new undead friend to help V rise up and become an avenging angel of retribution.
I like to play corpo V as a stealth infiltrator with netrunning expertise which matches her counter-intel background. This V does not run, but rather walks into a trouble spot, calmly assesses the situation, and surgically picks it apart with an enhanced Arasaka cyberdeck, a silenced pistol, and a katana, using the exact same kind of tech that once made her a rising star in her former life. This V doesn't want to be famous, only feared as the unseen angel of death of Night City, the one who switches all the living 1's to dead 0's...if the price is right. And the only true ending for me is "Don't Fear the Reaper". It perfectly completes the corpo V's story arc, and exacts final revenge in the most devastating and satisfying way possible.

Wonderful video. Every time I listen to these retrospectives, I tear up just thinking about how much this game affected me and how much it meant to me. The characters that enter your life in the game stuck with me in a way I didn't think possible. Just a masterpiece of storytelling.

I just finished my cyberpunk playthrough for the first time when I started in June, this is one of the very few games that I actually liked and finished it to the complete end (side missions and even spent money on Phantom Liberty because it was so good). And the meaning behind the game has definitely impacted my life as well.

I recently came across a simulation idea that has changed my perspective on so many things, I implore anyone reading to try a playthrough where you just assume that everyone in the city is real and caring for them, almost as a guardian angel being as non lethal as possible, contains within it a lot of secrets that the game will show you, good luck on your journey.

Him being basically last one of chums of his youth that is alive, all because all wanted to went big...and some surely did and thanks to him they stayed alive bit longer. And Misty would definitely not agree. Her, first loosing Jackie after she had warned him, which he partialy waved away, but still took to heart as it was his usual way of live. Unlike V, somehow, Jackie was ready to go in every single run. But back to Misty. Her and other mililons of ordinary ppl of NC. Living namelessly. Same goes for Vic, Mama Wales, Rivers sister and her kids preparing diner while somewhere some other runner is again gunning for Big leagues, probably dying in process. This is possibly part of NC you missed in video, but it is also important one. Because when Johny blew up Sakka tower, he also killed lot of this ppl. And thrown NC into age of Red, with big gaping radioactive hole right in middle of the city.basically giving rise of gangs of battlezones that have shaped NC almost as massively as later reconstruction of that gaping hole by Aldecaldos construction workers. Whos again, did much more by being workers than wariors. Nameless operators of big construction machines. So although Afterlife is glorified and sold out Rogue is taking face as leader of rebels, real heroes of NC are its ordinary ppl. (even that their lives are often at mercy of chromed up borgs and runners). Well there is not good ends in NC and there also is no heroes there. But still, some days are good days, right?
I REALLY love this perspective, and it's actually hitting me how I never thought about it like.
My perspective of this story sort of stems from my own personal worldview, coming from a rather unstable 3rd world country where your day to day actions are often interrupted by potentially life altering events. And it's more common to view the faceless are those who're not willing to give everything they have for what they believe is right regardless of consequences but rather those who work to keep the system that oppresses them working.
Having said that, I definitely appreciate your perspective and made me realise that just like my version of V, I didn't stop to think as much how my ambitions and motivations could negatively impact those I loved and cared for. @@asfandope I kinda caught that from other vid about Vic and how he is actually living relatively normal live right next to all runners. Also whole Phantom Liberty ending talk with Misty is kinda just about that there is tons of invisible normal ppl in there and V just saw the greatness of Big Leagues but there can be greatness in small things like rising your childern or caring about your customers. Just another thing that makes this game so exceptional.

@@asfandope NC is not doomed as it seems, it was after all originaly build as utopic city independant on some bad organizations in NUSA and Mr. Night was quite genious Architect. Sadly, he was killed by gangers that disaprove his vision and whole NC fell into hands of corporations....that first followed his vison, but then corpo wars started and all went to hell.

Cyberpunks ending was one of the most profound media experiences I have ever had. The game is one of the best , although it has issues, but it is a game that is different from others and goes into a different level of immersion than any other game imo.
Damn. I’m a 500+ hour player and I thought I was obsessed. (Hence me getting this and every other Cyberpunk related video in my algorithm) The people who passed on this game because of its rocky launch are genuinely missing out on the best game I’ve ever played.

I have been playing video games of some sort since the early 1980s. I have always been a casual/low motivated gamer. I never pay full price for a AAA game - I wait for the price to drop. I also rarely finish a big game - I usually either get stuck or bored and move on to something else. I bought Cyberpunk 2077 in March '23 (on sale of course) and finally got around to installing and starting it about a year ago. From the start of this game, I was pulled into Night City and Cyberpunk 2077 in a way I have never experienced with a game in my life. Now, I have over 1100 hours in the game. I have recently started a couple of other games, but I am always drawn back to cyberpunk - I miss Night City and the characters in this game. Some of the endings still bring tears, no matter how many playthroughs I make.
@@section8230 it's a powerful game, the graphics are great and all and it's a fun game but what really pulls you in is the living breathing world and a narrative that feels oddly personal.
It's easily one of the greatest pieces of art I've ever picked up.
Cyberpunk is a beautiful game, and it does an excellent job at telling us to steer away from that world and the decisions the characters in it make. The answer to Night City is to leave. The blaze of glory of Silverhand is pointless, the suicide hurts everyone, selling your soul isn't worth it, trying to become a legend at the expense of other people always comes back to bite you. Ultimately, leaving Night City, like some versions of Judy, Panam, and Misty is the way to go. Johnny's path is one of a terrible person who brings only pain. Jackie and T-Bug trying to do something too big so they could "make it" got them killed. Viktor Vector eventually loses his store to the corpos.
In the end, the only good world is the one where you realize you don't need to stay in the pain engine, you can just go away.

honestly, 2077 will allways have a special place in my heart. When it launched, it was the only thing keeping me... sane during the last few days my grandfater had. he died 9 days after this game released. I keep coming back to it because even though it was a buggy mess back then, it was still an amazing game. The story was heartbreakingly good, the music, even by itself, is amazing. i still listen to most of Samurai's songs almost daily.
I came to this game late, not on release. This was mainly because I wanted to experience the game with the requisite gameplay fixes in place. Message to game studios: “Don’t let the Corpo suits railroad you into early release”. That aside when I started to play I became immersed and addicted to it. You become part of these people. I cried at Evelyn’s decline, I delighted in Panam’s spirit, I loved Jackie’s loyalty and Judy’s naïveté. CDPR is one of the greatest storytelling studios since Black Isle. But you put into words my feelings as I played. Thankyou choom.
Finishing this game feels like finishing a great book.

These weren’t just moments in a game; they felt real, and it was like I was mourning people I knew. And V… V with Panam and the Aldecaldos, trying to make a life out in the desert, away from the chaos. It feels like they’ve all been through enough, like they deserve a break from it all, even if they’re just game characters. It’s hard to imagine putting them through that again, and it feels like starting over would only be a reminder of everything they lost. I want to let them move on, to leave behind all the things Night City took from them and find some peace, however small. I’ve never felt this way about a game before. RDR2 was emotional and close to my heart, but Cyberpunk felt different-it felt deeply personal. I wasn’t just following a story; I was there, feeling it with them. Now, I just want to let them go, to let the city and everything that happened stay in the past. It’s like I need to let them rest and finally leave it all behind. Cyberpunk made me feel human in a way I didn’t expect."

Well some time later of completing it for first time and letting it rest, I started replaying it. And Night City, with its chaos and pain , felt familiar-like a place you can’t help but come back to. There’s a strange comfort in the hurt, and that bittersweet feeling hit me all over again.
I played this game from launch on pc. At the time I was dying and related a lot to V’s story. I managed to survive and completely changed my life. Now, I’m finding new ways to relate to the story of other characters, namely Rogue. I got into a relationship with a guy a lot like Johnny and he managed to play me for a fool. I never used to understand Rogue or how she fell for him in the first place, nor how she could possibly still have feelings about him after everything that happened. But now I do. I think as I experience life more, I’ll find myself understanding characters I’d previously had a hard time empathizing with. The story and its characters have helped me see the flaws within myself much clearer than before. I will always recommend 2077 to people doing some soul-searching and introspection.

Night City is such a beautiful hellscape and this game is not just a mere game but absolute art and the embodiment of why video games are my favorite medium with stories that are so unbelievably deep that rival.the best novels the visuals of a movie but you get to immerse yourself into it and be a part of it and experience it you become V you help or kill these characters you took out Adam Smasheryou explored this city gahhh it's just magical and I love it so damn much I wish this level of passion and heart being involved with making and crafting these works of art was more common place instead of how so many are only focused on the money and missing the most important thing the soul

Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely an experience and I am at almost 600 hours in total. The city, the people the stories have definitely had a huge impact on me. It makes you think, question what you would do in certain situations, even what is the true nature of being human, and the measure of a person's life. It also is becoming uncomfortably closer and closer to real life.
Sometimes I like to just log in and walk the streets and explore. And this is probably the first video game where I have gone out of my way to listen tot he soundtrack outside of the game and yeah the music is very powerful and relevant to the story points.
Not many games where you can hear a few opening bars and immediately specific characters and your experiences with them in game come to mind.
And I can probably count on one hand the number of games that have had an emotional impact on the level of this game.
Heck this game even helped me work through some really dark times too. Not many game studios would have the guts to explore the impact of suicide on those left behind. Shit that post credit call from Judy broke me when I played out that ending,
Took the words out of my mouth with this one. Can't stop going back and thinking about the characters. I find solace in this game, it's truly special.

I am a big lover for rpgs. I always thought something like Skyrim would be my home, but then Cyberpunk 2077 comes in. It was the game that buried itself into me and I felt like I had roots in that world. It turns out, my home is Night City and it'll never faint away.

What a wonderful video bro! I couldn't have said it better myself. I just really love this game, It's depth and immersion is unmatched. I can never forget experiencing the ending it for the first time and being faced with the impossible choice, It helped me reflect on what I was going through at the time which made me fall in love with this game so much despite it's flaws at the time. later on when i played phantom liberty and I reached the killing moon ending, I was in utter awe by the choice I took and how natural it felt to me to take this choice without a second thought or doubt. I had to just sit there and think as I watched the rain in game and in real life in the window beside and think.. if i could make this choice if the the stakes were real. I was SOOO immersed and fascinated by the amazing writing and story of phantom liberty, It deserves so much more recognition and praise.
Despite the futuristic dystopian theme of V's story and struggle, It still felt very relatable very human and I can't get enough of the world of cyberpunk! Thank you for making this awesome video, you've earned a sub :)

you have managed to capture and articulate all of the feelings i have for this game in a beautiful way. whenever i think about cyberpunk i feel a captivating void within me; there's something deeply depressing yet beautiful about this game. there is nothing else like it and i highly doubt there ever will be.
my favourite pieces of media usually are those that hold a mirror up to the reality i have lived in but im not running around chromed up and getting in gunfights. but i am someone whos trying to find themselves in a world that is constantly telling you who to be and what to do. cyberpunk is a warning of the future we are heading in and how helpless we are. AI is getting better, social media is becoming more integral to connection, the rich are getting richer and corporations are watching over everything while clinking their wine glasses giggling at how everything is going to their malicious plan.
but if you take a slow walk around the city you see small pockets of humanity. whether it'd be a kid playing hopscotch, two friends gossiping at a foodstand, or a cleaner who does their job despite knowing that everything will be dirty again by their next shift. in a future where everything has collapsed and faded away there is still a slither of life.
sure while V may of murdered a few thousand people, they are someone who despite having every single odd against them and literal death breathing down their neck, they're someone who is trying to make a difference. they have seen the highest highs and the lowest lows many times over yet they keep pushing; fighting to make the world a better place, at least for themself. what an amazing protagonist to play as.
after pushing it back for a whole year due to life happening i have finally started playing phantom liberty. i know i am not prepared for it or how it's going to impact me after but i know that whatever the ride is, I am all for it.

I still think about Misty’s final goodbye in the peaceful ending, completely unexpected but truly impactful
As an o.g. 'runner, (I got into cyberpunk & scifi in '93 or so when I saw T1 & T2, Bladerunner and had read Neuromancer/Snowcrash) I think part of the beauty of this game was that it mirrored reality far too closely (even down to having the greedy money men rushing out a not-quite-ready-product) and came out at a pivotal time in all of our lives... As someone who was laid up from Feb to late July in 2020 (work injury of 2-broken limbs) I spent a lot of time watching and assessing things and was almost sickly shocked when reality as we were living it seemed to mirror many of the themes and motifs that are part & parcel of this genre... To then finally get the chance to escape the insanity of the reality that we were then living, well, my V did everything BUT the "bad" ending of the Devil, and I won't lie, I was genuinely smitten with the relationship that V and Judy would have in their interactions... As a nomad rocker-chick, I laughed and rejoiced with the ending when my V & Judy left Night City & sought some measure of freedom from the tyranny of the mechanized world of sin & decadence alongside Panam and the Aldecaldos... I won't lie, I saw for them the possibility of freedom, rebirth and the hope that they would find a way to remove the chip and forge a new path for their lives...

I initially played this game because my sisters been hyped for this since the first trailer came out in I think 2013 but damn the game is amazing. I actually played on release and while, yes, it was buggy at first I was still absolutely in love with night city and seeing all the hate cyberpunk got actually made me sad. I can never put into words just how nuch this game means to me, including the side quests, main quests, gigs, characters, background stories, lore, the music.. just pretty much everything. I kinda wanted to have piece of it with me at all times, so I have like 4 cyberpunk themed tattoos and the soundtrack actually haunts me lol I think about this game at least once a day

I spent more than 700hours in Night city, and I know for sure I'll be back.
I am a 51years old gamer, I play computer games since maybe 1986-87 and yes, I have never been immersed and invested in a game like this before (and I also played to the M. Pondsmith table RPG at highschool and college).
The first run I finished put me in a mood I never felt after any other video game. A kind of melancholia with a bit of emptyness, thinking for hours about the NPC, the city and crazy aventures I had, the choices I made and mistake I thought I made. Time to time I am listening Kerry's boat song and it bring me back to this feeling.
CDProjekt bring us a masterpiece, Is it perfect ? No. Could it have been better ? probably.
But the writing, the characters, the lore, the music, the differents area mood, the artistic direction, the rythm, the musics , the shade of grey, and obviously Night CIty , all bring together are so special, unique, immerisived, well balanced...
I am still hoping to see another so rich story cinematographic immersive RPG game based and somewhere, I am afraid I will never have this game experience again.

The best compliment I can give to a game and story is I kept thinking about the story long after I experience it. Love this game! Its up there with Witcher 3and RDR1/2 games. Agree with the music. In regard to your point about not fast-travelling; I fast-travelled once and immediately felt like I'd robbed myself, never did it again.
My only hope is that whatever comes next, Project Orion or whatever it may be, captures magic once again.
I'm in the same boat. To up the immersion further I'd even take the metro train after the update introduced it.
The immersion in this game is almost unparalleled.

Doubt this will be scene but you nearly hit the nail on the head this game is the love letter and we are the recipients as it shows us an almost perfect reflection of our world but taken to the extreme in some areas to show us that no matter where you are in life it will all go down the same way maybe with some differences here and there but by the end we all die what matters is how we spend the time we have and what connection it has when we leave

This game, I simply lack the words to describe how I feel about it. Sure, I happen to be quite fresh to the game (barely hit 3 digit playtime, and maybe playing for 2 months now), but the world it takes place and it’s story, it simply grabbed me. I came from the ttrpg RED to this game, and as gamemaster I used the system myself to create a world, a story for my players to enjoy but mainly to warn of the path our current world is taking. Of course I ennobled the actions of my party, but it wouldn’t be quite the exaggeration to say CD did the same to V, or Johnny, or literally any of the characters we love soo much in this game. This game, with a story that perfectly managed to capture and show what I tried to achieve with my campaigns, showing how if we aren’t careful, our own future will look like this. And hey, even we try to ennoble our own actions, telling us what we do is what we have to do, we did right and others are the reason for our own failure?
They created the mirror we might need ourself the most, by letting us see how V tried to leave a mark on the world that ends up changing and, depending on the ending, swallowing V.

Being an old grunt having played the original CP2020, as a GM, back in the beginning of the 90s I really love the world as creates in the game. Updated to stand up to the sands of time, but still keeping the relevant core.
I can only imagine what kind of experience it must've been to play that old board game and then experience 2077. Sounds surreal.

Cyberpunk 2077 feels like a club/ party experience: you're there lost in the weeds, searching, hoping, waiting to reconnect with the people who are your little oases in Night City: Jackie, Johnny, Panam, Judy, Rogue, Takemura, etc.
I think that's the amazing thing about the game and what it says about our lives: that amongst all this soup of what seems like a dystopian reality, the connections we make are what give life weight and importance. It may not matter in the scheme of things, but it matters to you, to all of us.

Loved this game so much it’s on my Mount Rushmore of games. Beautifully designed, great character interaction, the list could go on. I just didn’t want it to end when playing it. Great game and great video. ❤

yes, i've played about 250 hours of this masterpiece. I've done ALL the content but i still drive/walk around the city once a week to just explore every nook and cranny that this world offers, well designed and full of amazing level design for a game that came out 4 years ago. Phantom Liberty sections/Dogtown are even better. It's the best looking game i've ever played. (when at 4k with ultra everything on ). I don't think i'll ever be wowed so much in any game in the future. Yes, the sequel will no doubt be as good, but we've seen this world now and the jump to this massive world was huge from what came before it, so we've been "exposed" to this huge world already. I know Batman games are good, but this city, Night City is on another level. I cried at the end of my playthrough (got the space ending). I'm not an rpg fan, but this, this is my favourite game ever. Story, characters, music, gameplay...absolutely blows me away.

Couldn't sum it up better, I finished the game yesterday and I immediately wanted to play again, with slightly different choices. Only one negative thing was it seemed too easy on normal difficulty, but the story and characters are absolutely unique. It was like reading insanely good, thought provoking book.
Great stuff. I have a very strange connection to this game and i have to stop for a few months at a time because it gets into my head

Beside all the other superlatives, I think the most accurate one is that Cyberpunk is the most immersive game ever made to date. It's not perfect, of course, but from the moment you step out of H-10 into the streets the city instantly swallows you whole. The way dialogue is handled, the worldbuilding, the CHARACTERS, the way all of it comes together in this incredibly dense and believable environment can often give this uncanny feeling of being in two places, being two people, at once. It's one of very few games I would describe as having a soul, which is funny considering the story. I think now the launch bugs hurt the game way worse than it being incomplete or poorly balanced, because its insanely immersive experience was always there from the beginning; it was just how long could it be maintained before the game broke again and took you out of it. It truly is a masterpiece of immersion, and I believe it's that soul of Night City and Cyberpunk overall that leaves its mark on us and is what keeps us coming back.
@@nontologicalbeing had it had a good launch, it would've gone down as one of the most legendary games of all time. And honestly I'm a sucker for comeback story and the cyberpunk comeback story is epic.

I totally get what you are saying, I have over 800 hours in the game myself for exactly the same reasons. I have Spotify playlist called "Blood Pump" with 90 minutes of my favourite tracks from the soundtrack and it will outperform everything else when the year's recap comes out.
So thank you for this and keeping it so spoiler free that I can share it with people who have not played it yet, but should.

I actually had some background with the franchise before the game came out. Years ago I got into the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop rpg and would read all the pdf's but I could never find a group to play with so I gave up, then when Cyberpunk 2077 came out it felt familiar, like I had been there before in the past. It added a bit to the experience for me.
Since then I bought all of the Cyberpunk 2020 ttrpg books, all of Cyberpunk RED's books and ran a couple of games. I love this setting so much, man.

The Edgerunners Mission Kit updated RED for the 2070's and it's cool as hell, let's you run Edgerunners and 2077 era games in it.

I totally agree with your opening comments, I have over 2700 hours in this game and have played it since it's release, and have never had an issue with it's "horrible release". I have not played any other game over 800 hours.
I struggle in finding another game to play to capture my attention that this game does. Before finding this video I was siting at my computer trying to decide which game to play, or even looking for another to download, but have not found anything that I felt deserves my attention and time as Cyberpunk does. I have played every life path, male and female, with every ending and most of PL endings.
I do love all the characters and the story telling. I too have got caught up in the emotional rollercoaster that this story takes you on. Night City is one of the most beautiful cities in any game, despite of all the trash around the city. The colors, the lights and building are beautiful. I also agree that I love the music this game. The only other game that has possibly better music (That I have played) is Mafia III, I am a big fan of that error of music, music I grew up with.
I followed Pawel Sasko's Twitch channel and loved his story telling of the game as he played it and gave so much info about developing the game. TO Listen to him and other developers talk about how horrible the release was and how devoted they were to making it better, they actually put their heart and soul into this game, and this end result is a pure result of it
Some of my friends make fun of me for this being the only game I play, ask me if I care... I am totally addicted to it. :)
@@graybeard2263 this game could've just as easily been a failure and a tax write off for CD Projekt as most had given up hope on it as it's disastrous release.
But the fact that they stuck with it, and constantly giving us quality updates and a masterpiece of a DLC goes to show why they have such a positive reputation in the industry
I've been playing this game since Patch 1.5 dropped...literally thousands of hours. This is not to mention the RUclips videos I've watched or the discussions on various forums. What I find is that the individual reactions to the game vary widely...extremely widely. But I have to agree that Night City feels alive, and that life...as dangerous and often disappointing and inevitably tragic as it ends up...is what pulls us in and doesn't let go. It's a masterpiece.
@@davidanderson5259 the game had a lot of highs and lows in game and in real life during development. There were legit babies born during the time of the first accouncement that are now 12 years old. During that time lots of expectations and opinions were formed and the rocky launch didn't help.
Granted I love the hell out of this game and could not recommend it enough, I can imagine why others would feel strongly against it.
I've been just properly been getting into it and it's honestly changed my life as stupid as that might sound. I've been depressed for quite some time but this game with everything that you can do, basically living another life, has actually helped me out of my depression to some extent. Haven't even gotten half way through and it's by far the best and most influential game I've ever played.
