I did kon mari method about 2 years ago, its funny how now everyone is doing it. The Konmari method is more than just folding, its more about keeping things that spark joy in your life and realizing that you don't need so many things, clothes etc. less is more in my opinion. The book does a better job at explaining things than the netflix show. I was surprised you didn't get rid of things when you saw the drawers were jam packed.

Ithis is so great. I think I'll put a note to this effect in his drawer. Yeah my husband wasn't going to do this. But he was very excited to see all his t shirts stored vertically. I don't let him tease me. The kon mark method is very respectful and that is motivating him a bit.

My husband and I have sort of an unspoken rule: If we are cleaning out the closet, which we do twice a year, and we find an old item in the chaos, if the words, "I'd forgotten all about this!" Or, "I forgot that I had this," escapes the person's mouth, then that item goes into the donation pile. That is, unless it brings you uncontainable joy and you're just so crazy happy that you found it, etc. If you don't do a little dance of happiness after finding it, then let it go to someone else to whom it may bring joy. If it makes you feel fat, ugly, stupid, or negative in any way, then get rid of it!

Oh, wow, there are several of these methods, like for folding shirts, especially, that I've been doing for a while, before I'd even heard of KonMari. After trial and error, folding, refolding and still coming back to a mess after someone pulls something out of the drawer carelessly, I started folding in such a way (as this lovely lady here does) so that you can see the front of the shirt. The easier it is to identify each piece of clothing at a glance, the less likely it'll be that someone will destroy the drawer searching for a specific item. And, even though, I've been doing it this way for quite a while, it was still really cool for me to watch the instructions and hear the REASONS why it's good to do things this way. It really made me stop and appreciate the benefits. I am so thankful for the time it saves me in the morning getting ready, the hassle it takes out of putting things way (because there is an easy method to follow) and the tranquility that I feel when I open my drawer and see everything so nice and neat. And when my husband does the laundry, as he's been doing a lot since I hurt my arm, it makes it quicker and easier for him. He can open any drawer and know exactly what goes in it and how it needs to be folded in order to fit in the drawer. (We have limited drawer space, and very shallow drawers, so so we have to maximize space.) It's easy to maintain, makes life easier and looks really nice. I can't even verbalize why... It just makes me happy!

  • @ansleycarlson7704

So awesome! I do folding/hanging just like you do! I started doing this method a while back. It gives you a ton more room, and you can see everything, instead of having to pull everything out, and mess your fold up, Making the drawers messy fast. I had mo idea that this was a method, or even had a name. I had started doing it, then watching you, I noticed you do it, then I saw this.. I'll never ever do it another way. You can see everything in the drawer, and it keeps your drawers tidy!!! I love your house. I love your style. I love your videos, all of them! I absolutely am obsessed with watching your videos. I learn so much from you. You're also very beautiful! Your clean home makes me feel happy. Yout home is my style. Your home is mu comfort zone. Just watching you puts me in a great mood. Thankyou so much.

  • @gabbyitis

I wish you had done it with Chad. One of the things she states is to do it with everyone in the house hold so everyone is responsible for folding and knowing how to fold the things. That makes it less stressful on everyone because everyone knows how to do it . I know for us my significant other kept telling me “the folding isn’t as great as yours tho”, but I kept telling him the more you practice the neater it will get. It’s practice.

I agree with you about folding the tees face up. I did this with the special tees I collected during my travels. This way I can see the city or country they come from. Great job organizing! I also had to do the same thing you suggested with all the clothes that were too small, but hope to fit into them again one day. It makes a big difference not having them in my closet. It is easier to get ready in the morning.

😂 When you first opened the dresser drawers they looked exactly how my boyfriend’s looked! We moved in together a few months ago and I convinced him to KonMari his clothes in exchange for me doing his laundry and folding. I fold my boyfriend’s clothes the exact way you did for the exact same reason! He said the same thing your man did about not knowing how to fold; I just asked that he try the best he can and even rolling instead of folding the last part in thirds if that’s what it takes (only if he changed his mind about wearing that shirt that day).

Hey I love your videos so much and a sock hack what I love to do is if the other sock is not washed or dried yet I put all the socks together and roll them up into one ball so it doesn’t take up as much space also you should store your clothes vertically that way there’s more space

I’ve read her book and watched some of her other tv appearances on folding awkward things and she definitely says to make it work for your space and area and that little bit of wiggle room made it less stressful for me. Sometimes you gotta get creative

All my dressers in my house need to have a full Kon Mari declutter 😰 but the results will be totally worth it. I can definitely see how doing this would be relaxing too 💗 great job!!

I love your carpet too! I know I say that a lot, but cleaning is therapeutic to me. I go overboard with it. I have to have a spotless home and I love it to smell amazing in my home. You can just look at you and your house and you can just tell that your house smells really good ❤❤ anyways back to what I was saying, I love to clean. Its my hobby, and people always come into my home and compliment the smell and tidiness. Now back to the carpet, I love your carpet, it's so clean, comfortable, and homey!!! The most satisfying thing to me is watching you clean your floors, because my favorite thing to do is clean my floor, but unfortunately, I do not have carpet. All of my flooring is hardwood, which dont get me wrong, Its beautiful floor, and I love to clean it too. My favorite cleaning appliance that I own, is a steam mop. I've had it for years, and I always rave on abt it to everyone, plus I love to steam mop even more now, because I learned a new trick from you, essential oils on the steam mop pad. Omg! I can't tell you how much I love that truck. It makes my home smell amazing, and my favorite to use, is lavender, because I have a toddler and I'm restless because I'm 35 weeks pregnant, the lavender relaxes us and helps us to sleep really well. So yeah, thankyou for that. But I love carpet. It's an obsession that I've always had, in my opinion, it's just more comfy, warm, and homey, but the only kind of carpet I have in my home, is rugs.... it's still satisfying to vacuum it. I love when you can see the 'just vacuumed' lines.

I would suggest you fold everything in half instead of 3rds to maximize your drawer space! It would made them thinner and should allow more room to fit everything:)

Lol I’m a little late but if you’re still looking for tips I’ve found one that works for me.
Basically, you put in the items in columns facing you but for my drawers I seemed to fit some more by putting in items in two rows horizontally.
Granted, this is the first video from your channel that I’ve watched so you may have already solved your issue of storing those items but I thought I’d share anyways! I’m definitely subscribing though- I loved this video ❤️

You are right! She does start face up. I found that face down works for t-shirt that have graphics so you can see them like you said. BUT for shirts that have uneven collars, like boat neck collars or square neck collars it works better to start them face up. None of my husbands shirts work that way, but my PJ shirts have wide collars and i don't want to hang them.

    • @SimplyAlexandra
      @SimplyAlexandra  5 лет назад
