What I really want from a firmware update, is for sonos to give us a center channel slider for dialogue!!

Hi Peter, great video! I noticed something strange, I ran Trueplay right now and the sound beeps sound much louder than before, this happened when I ran Trueplay with all my Sonos speakers. Now my Arc+Sub+2 ones sl sound much louder and imo clearer. I ran Trueplay 3 more times with the same result. I know something changed since I was watching Tron Legacy on Disney plus a few nights ago before running Trueplay again in months and I was able to raise the volume to 75% to get a nice loud sound. Now I can’t go past 65% since it feels like it’s much louder now. Is it a glitch or is it part of this new update. I have been using the same IPhone 13 Pro for Trueplay and I know it’s not the microphone since the beeps are indeed louder coming from the speaker during Trueplay. It’s driving me nuts not knowing what and why it changed but my system sounds much better now.

Thanks Peter! I agree with the orher comments, sonos should have provided different volume controls for side and rear surround channels. The same for height channels, front and back.

The center speaker of the ERA 300 should work because some surround sounds are meant to be direct. So it should operate on those sounds. If the speaker is not able to differentiate that then maybe, like you said, Sonos could just add a slider control for just that speaker. I doubt they will as it is adding complexity for users.

Peter the one thing I did not see (I returned my Era 300s) in the video, is independent control of the two different surround channels (outer and inner). Am I to assume that the "surround volume" switch lowers and raises both at the same time; and you cannot, for example, bump up the outer two independent of the inner two? Thanks!

  • @johnbelvedere5040

Peter, before you had the era 300 you used the Sonos architectural ceiling speakers as your rear surround speakers. Currently I’m using the Sonos ones as my rear surrounds. I don’t had the space to put the era 300’s because I have a sliding glass door that is on 8” way from my wall so the 300’s would not look right and my wife doesn’t like the look of putting them on a stand. As much as I would love to use the 300’s my only option to upgrade my surrounds would be the Sonos architectural ceiling with a Sonos amp. What is your opinion on using the ceiling speakers as my rears. Thanks and as always another great video👍

I have a question for anyone that has the Era 300s. So I want to use them for both surrounds for music and movies. I have the Arc, Gen 2 Sub and will be getting 2 Era 300s to replace my Ones. I tried googling these, but no clear answers. Thanks in advance 👊🏽
Question: will this set up hurt my music experience as opposed to using it as stereo pair?
Questions: when used as surrounds, do you select ambient or complete (forgot what the verbiage they use)
Question: Can I create separate “rooms” to use the eras not connected to the arc?

Separate the rear and surround volume channels please!!!!!

  •  11 месяцев назад +2

But the side and rear should have independent volumes! Sonos is a "lazy" surround system that is digital. Therefore it must / should be possible to make fully adjustable. For me who has the couch/sofa right against the back wall and different distances to the side walls, must be able to control ALL channels to get the best sound.
