I agree wholeheartedly that Peter Pee's channel for Sonos products is so in depth in that once you watch his videos, you can never go back watching those hundreds of other youtubers reviews that practically read off a spec sheet, give limited actual reviewing and leave you still asking questions. @Peter Pee thanks for you vids. very informative. i currently own a Bose surround sound system and have been intrigued and tempted to purchase my first sonos system. Open question to the group, If i want to buy the Era 300 as a home theatre system, would you recommend first buying the Arc soundbar? I really wish people would understand that the ERA300 is primarily designed to shine as a rear surround in your home theater setup, and the Sonos Five is still the premier product for music enjoyment. So many posts on Reddit asking if they need get rid of their Fives for ERA300, and the answer is NO! And the argument that more music is being released now that takes advantage of Atmos and Spatial channels, does not change this fact. All that means is that your theater setup will sound better when it's streaming music content than it currently does. For a stereo pair setup for music streaming only, the best option is going to be the ERA100 or the Sonos Fives.
Sorry I disagree that spacial audio /Dolby atmos music is for home theatre setups only, it is mainly able to be decoded by home cinema. I think the era 300 as a stereo pair would be interesting to hear how much they can add to the music. Iv been quite impressed with atmos music via my 7.2.2 AVR. It has also been aimed at headphone listening too however in this case I find vocals to diffused.
Whilst I agree Sonos Fives is better for music, I completely disagree that the Era 300 was “designed” specifically for rear surrounds. The marketing material does not support that claim. These era 300 rears (as one sl replacements) make the arc/sub come to life! Surround sound is everywhere and let's the arc become the star of the show in the center. What a trio!
For anyone interested here are my first impressions using a pair of Era300’s and Era100’s… The Era300’s are an easy sell for me if you are going to use them in a Sonos Home Theatre configuration. My immediate reaction to replacing Play5 rear speakers with Era300’s was how much better integrated they sound with the ARC sound bar. I come from a high end HiFi and cinema background but love Sonos for their fun club like room solutions and convenience around the home without speaker wires. Sound bars always sound like the sound is coming at me horizontally. Due to their design and often low down placement they never sound great to me for music. However with the Era300’s as rears it feels like the Sonos cinema sound stage is more cohesive front to back of the room. In this scenario the more horizontal 3D soundstage doesn’t bother me as it’s more like a well integrated 360 experience. Play Ed Sheeran’s ATMOS recordings and the sound stage is far better integrated than using Play5’s in a cinema configuration. It makes me feel like the Era300’s are what was missing from the Sonos home cinema package since the ARC was first released. Era300’s just compliment the ARC so much better than the Play5’s. To my ears they are the first truly well integrated rear speakers for Sonos home theatre. If I listen to the Era300’s as a stereo pair by themselves, then I am again hearing a more horizontal 3D sound stage a bit like turning the Play5’s horizontally instead of a more HiFi like soundstage when you listen to the Play5’s positioned vertically. So this is why some people may not like listening to Era300’s for music only. It’s not stereo HiFi, it’s just different. You’ll either like to get used to it or you won’t. Personally I am not a fan of the Era300’s in a stereo pair. I (currently at least) prefer a traditional stereo soundstage from a quality HiFi setup. But I think they are very good paired with the ARC in cinema configuration. IMO the Era100’s are NOT an upgrade from the One speaker. They are just different and depending on the environment you place them in, your preference to listen to Era100’s or One’s may differ. I had no wow factor comparing a stereo pair of Era100’s with a pair of One’s. It’s not like the sound stage was considerably deeper or more natural, which I was disappointed with for a slightly larger speaker/driver design. I expect a pair of “Move” speakers in stereo mode, will blow the Era100’s away. I can hear the Era100’s are a little richer than One’s because their sound profile is not as scooped. There is a richer midrange, but that may or may not be preferred by you, because the soundstage can be thicker to it’s detriment. For example when I tested in an open plan kitchen/diner, I thought ok I hear a difference but it’s not “better” as such, it’s just slightly different and not worth replacing One’s for in my opinion. Then I compared the Era100’s and One’s in my bedroom where the Era100’s thicker midrange was not as relaxing to listen to in that smaller space, despite my bedroom still being a decent size. It’s not a box room by any means. I used Advanced TruePlay during these listening tests and tried adjusting EQ, but I still preferred the sound signature of the One’s in my bedroom. So I think the more scooped sound profile in the One’s works better in smaller spaces where you want to reduce any bloated/flubby bass. The Era100’s are arguably preferable in a larger space due to the richer midrange. It’s not really HiFi rich to me, which means it can thicken in a marginal muddy manner. At no point did I feel a wow factor like I did swapping out Play5’s for Era300’s in a cinema configuration. I suspect in time there will be a group of customers who prefer the traditional One’s to the new Era100’s and there will remain a good market for the One’s because their sound profile turns out to be more desirable to some people in smaller environment use cases. Have fun testing for yourselves and finding your own preferences within your own homes. Cheers everyone.
Ho liao! Amazing video as usual Peter! Sorry that i will not able to join you this Friday evening. Now that my Era 300s have arrived today, cant wait to catch some Atmos coded movies.
Thanks! You are the best Peter , My one ERA 300 is coming tomorrow, and I will place it behind me in the center of the room, ARC and MINISUB are also in the middle where I sit
Thank you matt! Just a reminder, you won't be able to pair a single era300 into surrounds for the arc ya. You can make them work together in a group. But it won't project the Atmos effects when you're watching video that way.
Thanks! I've been thinking about possibly upgrading to the Era 300s from play ones for my beam 2, full size sub and ones in my living room. Generally 50% volume, occasionally louder. I don't play my music loud enough to justify the five and they're not good at lower volume. I think I'll stick with the ones for now. Music only.
Hey if you are going to pair them with the Beam (gen 2), then it really doesn't justify the improvements to music. If you buy them for music alone and use them as stereo, then maybe. Thanks for your contributions!
@@PeterPee I decided to go with a pair of era 100. Not impressed with the reviews I've been reading on the era 300. After selling the old ones with an upgrade credit it's a pretty cheap upgrade. I got rid of the play 3s in that room long ago because they just cut out far too frequently. I've been trying trying to find a good replacement for the Play 3 forever and the era 100 is as close As It Gets with better newer Hardware.
Amazing review, no surprise! Totally agree about the Era 300’s being best geared for music. When I first played a Spatial Audio track on one Era 300, I actually thought I mistakenly had another one of my sonos speakers synced and playing at the time. It was unlike anything I had ever heard!
Ho lioa Good stuff! I really appreciate you time and patience in relating and bring us the best and possibly the most accurate information when it comes to Sonos. You really help make purchasing decisions easier. Thank you again.
I Love your channel!! I’m a Big fan. I’ve got the. Arc, surrounds using ones and 2 Gen 3 subs. Do you recommend the 300’s as a pair? Do they make a noticeable difference in Atmos effects? I have a fairly big room and I think Atmos effects could be more pronounced with back speakers. Maybe this is the perfect speaker. I’m not worried about music as much as Atmos for movies. Thanks Peter
Yes, absolutely they are much better than the Ones for Atmos. You add the pair to your Arc + dual sub setup and you have the absolute best that Sonos has to offer right now. Thanks for the contribution Philly!
Good stuff Peter, I am looking to get speakers for strictly music via Spotify in my office. I want a rich, immersive, detail experience. Loud volume is not my priority as I listen to my music in a lower volume in the background while I work. A lot of people have suggested that stereo sound would be the best for this use case. However, which would be the best option for me? Pair of ERA 100 vs Single ERA 300 vs Single Five.
GOOD STUFF, Peter! Unfortunately no room voor 2 era 300's. So thinking of replacing my one's with era 100's in my beam 2 & sub mini set-up which I just bought in Dec 2023 now we have the upgrade program at the moment.
Thanks for the detailed review Peter! Will you be doing a comparison of Sonos Arc + Sub + two One Vs Sonos Arc + Sub with Era 100 and Era 300? Eagerly looking forward to it.
HO LIAO!!!! Great review on these new speakers. I won’t be buying them any time soon but still will like to listen to them at the store. Hopefully I have a chance this weekend to go check them out

Wish I could make it to Singapore to the private session. I am living in Thailand and will have to wait a bit to purchase. If I can somehow purchase through you to support please do let me know. Thanks your the best, amazing.
Hello k. Doug, thank you for your patience and support. I really appreciate you wanting to support buying through me, but I don't really have means to do that. You should just source for the best price from Thailand!
As usual an informative video. Can proudly say Peter's videos contribute highly in my Sonos buying decision. I have arc, 2x gen3, 2x fives but use strictly for home theatre. Era 300s will be replacing the fives. Can't wait to hear the difference. Thanks Peter. 👍
I have the exact same set-up mostly for TV/movies; but, decided to stick with the Fives as rear surround. I don't think I've seen Atmos on my Xfinity cable and Atmos content isn't that common compared to regular Dolby for most of movies/shows I watch on the major streaming services. I can wait until Sonos put out an Era 500.
Could only one Era 300 work as a surround setup in case space (or budget) is limited? I can't place my speaker behind my sofa only on the same level left and right to it - is it still worth to get two Era 300 with this placement limitation?
Hi Peter, love your videos and reviews. I have ordered two era 300 to replace my play:1s I have been using for ages as surround speakers for my home cinema set up with Arc and Sub gen 2. Should receive them tomorrow so will send you my 1st impressions once I test them. Kind regards Peter
Good Stuff and many thanks Peter, your latest review has cost me hundreds of extra euros above my Era 300 pair 😅(Arc instead of the Beam gen 2). But I think it’s worth it. Tomorrow I get my 300’s on launching day. You are a star love your reviews very. Greets from the Netherlands 🎉

Thanks for your support JAQ!
@@PeterPee You are very welcome and thank you for the detailed information in your videos. These are very helpful to me.
Thank you love your videos. How big should my room be for the ERA 300? And second sub. my room is 13,51. 11,48 and 9.1 feed tall. is that possible?
My room is small, and VERY close to your dimensions. I am using the ERA 300 in that room. :) Thanks for the support!
Thanks!
Thank you William! Good Stuff!
Ho Liao! Many thanks for your hard work my friend. Purchasing 2 300’s to upgrade my ones based on your recommendation.
Amazing review, no surprise! Totally agree about the Era 300’s being best geared for music. When I first played a Spatial Audio track on one Era 300, I actually thought I mistakenly had another one of my sonos speakers synced and playing at the time. It was unlike anything I had ever heard!
Ho lioa
Good stuff!
I really appreciate you time and patience in relating and bring us the best and possibly the most accurate information when it comes to Sonos. You really help make purchasing decisions easier.
Thank you again.
Thank you Peter! Awesome video as always!
Thank you Gilad!
Thanks
Welcome!
I recently read Spotify doesn’t have Atmos sound. Amazon and apple music has it
In your case, I strongly recommend the sonos fives.
@@PeterPee even a single mono five VS 2 stereo ErA 100?
The BEST videos hands on Down ✋🏽☝️👏
Good stuff as always! Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to get my pair of the era 300 7.2.4
I bet you can't wait! I can't wait for you to try it out!
Brilliant review as always Peter, thanks for the reviews and comparisons :)
Another incredible review man. You are becoming my go to for audio advice!!
Glad to hear it! Thanks Matt!
Good stuff! Would be great if you covered the placement and stands for the 300s.
You are a workhorse dude. Thanks so much for your time.
So terrific that you took the time to do this video for all of us…Great Ingredients!
You are so welcome!
Good Stuff! No detail gets by you and you are my voice of reason when making purchasing decisions. Love your work!
Good Stuff!! ..... Thank you for committing a massive amount of time to educate us.
I am really grateful for your recognition!
Love your channel. Please keep doing the quick reviews at the beginning of your videos they really are amazing.
HO LIAO!!!! Great review on these new speakers. I won’t be buying them any time soon but still will like to listen to them at the store. Hopefully I have a chance this weekend to go check them out
Totally underrated content. Love the new macaroni hairstyle!
Good stuff! As always some great content. Looking forward to getting some 300’s to alter my surround sound!
It will be some big alteration!
PETER PEE! The man I’ve been waiting for
Thank you so much for that review. Really look forward to your comparison for era 300s vs in ceiling sonance speakers in a movie setup.
i have a little room with 50inch tv i want the best dolby atmos experience for movies ? one era 300 or beam gen 2 ? thanks
Ho Liau Peter, allways appreciate your videos. So much information in one video looking forward to my Era 300 coming in tomorrow
GOOD STUFF! I actually watched the whole video. Thank you Peter. Can't wait for the Arc, Sub, and Era 300 combo review as this is my current setup
Thank you for watching through!
good stuff!!! HO LIAO! I'm now going to pull the trigger on the Era 300 to replace my Play:1 surrounds. Thank you!!!
Good stuff. Very informative as always. Looking forward to some more upcoming videos.
Good Stuff! What I appreciate about you is you take enough time to produce great content and don’t seem to let the pressure push you to falter on this. Please, we can wait for quality vs quantity.
Good stuff Peter!
Thx for all your hard work! 🙌 🇸🇬
Good stuff Peter Pee! I appreciate your straight forward style and in-depth explanation.
Hey Peter, awesome and timely video. I was really waiting for this review.
Thanks for keeping a lookout for it Ian!
@@PeterPee Good stuff!
Good Stuff! Great analysis of the new set of Sonos speakers
Thanks for the affirmation nick!
Could only one Era 300 work as a surround setup in case space (or budget) is limited? I can't place my speaker behind my sofa only on the same level left and right to it - is it still worth to get two Era 300 with this placement limitation?
You can't pair just one. You need two before you can pair them as surrounds.
Good stuff Peter! Some great and helpful Sonos content on the eras !
Good Stuff Peter! Thank You!
You bet! Thanks for watching all the way through Dan!
As always..GOOD STUFF..Peter..👌🏻👍🏻
Another great informative video! I just purchased the Era 300s to go along with my Arc, sub gen3 and One SLs.
Good stuff my man. Always love your stuff. Thank you.
Good stuff, Peter! Thank you for a very informative video.
Good stuff, Peter! I know I’m so late to it but how did your listening event go?
Your approach to presenting reviews is f*cking awesome. Well done!
Thank you Dave!
Exquisite stuff! I am excited more than ever to get my pair of era 300s any day now
Hi era 100 Best sound setting in stereo pair? Great channel, thanks for all your hard work.
Good stuff! The only review that matters Peter, appreciate your work.
Thanks for watching such a long video Danny!
We have the same setup 😎
I already know what you will feedback to me. I am in love too.
Sonos Era 300 babies and stands arrived today … getting to unbox them and set them up tonight … will send you my first impressions after trueplay
Good stuff...as always Peter!
Peter, Good Stuff! You were spent after that. Everything you put out is very well done, thank-you.
Haha. I didn't manage to cut the video at the end. I think you detected a sigh at the end. I was really tired. Haha.
Great stuff as always Peter. 👏
thats a very informative and really an excellent video overall, thanks a lot for all the info you 've helped me a lot decide on what to go for
