I trained kali, jkd, and BJJ for 20 years. I never trained nunchucks ever but we did a lot of escrima training and sparring. Just recently wanted to try something new and it’s surprisingly easy to pick up and use techniques and combos we use with the stick.
It’s been a while since I used them. But I learned to use them when I trained Kyokushin Karate. Also used Sai’s, tonfa’s, bo, and the Kama’s. One of out Shihan’s had the plastic version and went behind the head but had his hands not close enough and knocked himself out cold. Have to admit we did have a lot of fun training the old school way verses the watered down version of today. 😃
You're awesome Paul. I don't know if the term would be sensi with Kali but your a great teacher. I'm actually awake this morning to do the training shortly after the video was posted so I'm going to learn some new stuff. In knew I had these foam practice chucks for a reason. 😃
Thanks for the video. Interesting shirt. Am I reading the runes right? Isa Inguz Laguz Ansuz Mannaz. Looks like a spell to promote learning, communication and understanding.
Very close - Isa Inguz Raido Ansuz Mannaz. The bind rune also spells my last name. It does look like Laguz but it was a way to short hand binding Raido. 👍🏻
@@kalicenter Nice. Thanks for the reply. It's interesting to see the Norse traditional knowledge making a comeback lately. Learning about traditional shamanistic and magickal systems is up there with martial arts for me. If you haven't watched his channel. You should check out Arith Härger. He has been a good source of information.
I actually made a custom set just for training, from 1-inch hex aluminum bar, 16" long. They are very heavy, but great for training. When I switch to traditional wood sets, I am very quick. Control is key.
India, not really Kung Fu or should I properly say “Gung fu?” Could also be Karate, Taekwondo and pretty much any other martial art since they’re all more similar than different. IDGAF-k🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️👍🏻

The Kali term would be Guro but please just call me Paul. I find my name is more respectful than a made up title. 🙏🏻👍🏻
Thank you Paul! I've learned a ton from you and I don't plan on stopping!

Great lesson as always Paul, but bro, you were giving me anxiety being that close to the edge of a cliff! lol

I would be interested in seeing how Kali stick would mount a attack against them. Just a thought.
