    Although I did love the ad campaign and some pieces and colours of 205w39 CK and after Raf left, for me
    it’s just another brand of undies.

    CK Heard you talking spicy about their brand image so they hired Pete Davidson to take raf's role, just like you wanted.

      @makasytan  2 года назад +2

      Lmaooo a complete opposite but Kendall is apparently a creative director at frwd so Pete could prob be CEO of Calvin

      @@makasytan You're a marketing major so I imagine you could get my hunch that brands just use celebs as faces for creative directors/teams that "ghost design" I suppose for them, and that applied outside of fashion.

      @@easyyeye honesty his take on American culture was really good, the obsession with university, western etc etc but too high concepts for the CK audience loll does this mean you agree with me with some of the business aspects of this failed collaboration?

    • @easyyeye
      @easyyeye 2 года назад

      @@makasytan oh yes, da American consumer doesn’t value clothes outside of stunting. It’s nothing new, Paul Poiret in his book King of Fashion spoke on da mindset of Americans be brand driving. Rather quality of garment. It would’ve been cool if dey had raf do wht Karl did at Channel with the small movies. RAF doesn’t have to do CK history rather create a story n’ visualize it to reach a wider audience. But idk I’m just spit ballin😂

    Unfortunately it was bound to happen from the start. I am only starting the video, so I’ve yet to hear your opinion but it’s the sad truth.
    CK is a brand for mildly rich 50 year olds and creating a designer line ‘for them’ with very different ideas than what the brand is about, was just not gonna work. There was no demand and where it was, you were still wearing Calvin Klein for $2000.
    From an artistic stand point, I loved it. It was a mind blowing line while it lasted. Very creative ideas and concepts. Right designer, wrong timing and wrong brand.

      @@makasytan Excellent video! Sort of pathetic how us, mere peasants have a better understanding on how they should have done this 205 line. You’d think with all that money, they have people to think for them at least.
      As you mentioned, making an $800 t-shirt while the brand also has something very similar for $60 just doesn’t make sense because no one will buy the more expensive one, especially if the brand is not a well established high end designer brand.
      The reason why H&M collaborations work is because they only up the price by a little, and it’s a one-off limited run. You can buy into a designer brand without having to spend that designer money. The clothes usually look more like the designer brand than H&M clothes. The best ones I can remember are the Maison Margiela collaboration, Versace and the most recent being a Simone Rocha collab. You got to buy into the brand for cheaper. With the 205 CK line, you are asking people to buy more expensive clothes when you have a more cheaper line. It just does not align.
      Sorry I went overboard with what I wanted to say, but it’s just stupid how CK did not think of these things. Also, it’s 3am so of anything I said makes no sense, well oops lol

But the collections they did were good. Just didn’t sell well and the execs didn’t give raf time to truly try to change the brand for the better. He got me to buy an 800 CK sweater loll

      Love his knit but his hoodies thoo I’m getting sick of them loll some are still great but for me, I want new shapes and new materials, this is why Rick is perfect for me. Raf is still a great designer and I still own many pieces from him

  • @brvndxxxn
    @brvndxxxn 2 года назад +1

    Raf is overrated. Yeah he makes nice clothes but how many more Caucasian male designers do we need? I’d like to see a little more opportunities given to other types of people. I also don’t really like what Galliano is doing at Margiela, he’s stripping the brand of it’s mystique. So sad Margiela hired a nazi to be its creative director

    • @makasytan
      @makasytan  2 года назад

      I wouldn’t say overrated per se because to be independent in the fashion world for 20+, it means he’s doing something right business wise and creative wise but as I learn more about fashion, about the more intricate designs, his designs are a bit sub par compare to the like of yohji and rick. Rick is constantly reinventing clothes with different shapes, materials, etc etc whereas raf is still mostly print and words on regularly shaped garments
