I love how articulate you are in what you say and how you express your opinion towards a collection or designer or whatever the case may be. You inform me so much. Please, never stop.
Calvin Klein is literally all about denim and underwear, other than that it's their provocative ads of what makes the brand. Calvin Klein's priority is to sell and that's why Raf infused a little bit of Gvasalia magic into this collection. Surprisingly, Raf has a lot more creative freedom in Calvin Klein than the strict guidelines of Dior and La Chambre.
Calvin Klein is 90s minimalism at its finest. When the man himself Calvin Klein exited the company, the brand became known more of an underwear and denim brand rather than the pinnacle of NY fashion week. The appointment of Raf is a way to bring back the fashion aspect in the brand. I am a big fan of Raf and this collection is signature Raf and in no way trying to be Vetements or Demna Balenciaga as other comments are suggesting..both are very very far from each other. If there is a similarity, it is with Helmut Lang..the original Helmut Lang in terms of fashion presentation with both men and women together and with some of the pieces..like the footwear. The collection is a great palate cleanser but it is not a homerun yet. But seeing the next collection now, it has more variety and more dynamic which is great
I think that saying Raf Simons was riffing off of Vetements or Balenciaga is a little misguided, as Raf has been making very unusual menswear (which, I would argue Gvasalia has been inspired by) since the 90s.
lol at 5:42 :) it's sooooo true! About Raf heading to CK I think is a really good thing.. CK suits him better than Dior. Raf and CK imo perfect match they are both minimalist and futuristic..
I'm not a fan of this line either. I feel like Calvin Klein is known for underwear, denim, and minimalistic, monochromatic, modern, tailored, clean lines. They should have stuck to that .
i get it since it's supposed to be america from an immigrants eyes, usually when they think of america it's only really a couple of places they recognize since they are new. So that would be florida, cali, and of course new york
i love Raf but i must admit i didn't get it... i kinda wanna say CALVINKLEINtements. it' feels a bit awkward cuz it's excentric but at the same time generic.
also I loved this collection tbh, for a while CK has felt painfully boring and this is honestly the first time a CK collection has made me excited. might just be the raf placebo doing it, but I mean it left me feeling inspired with what I can do with that clear plastic sheeting I bought 3 years ago
@hauteLeMode you wouldn't buy cos you can't afford it. at all. BTW you talk about fashion but yourself wear boring black shirt with stripes. I DON'T GET IT !!!
