@@waffleswafflson3076There's certainly smaller spherical bodies in the solar system than Mercury, in volume as well as mass, but I did say specifically "smallest rocky world". The only rocky thing in the outer solar system I can think of is Io
New to the game, I’ve liked TEC enclave and primacy and they are good. I tried advent reborn and struggle with their credit economy but oh my goodness. The fighter and bomber spam you can do with them is ludicrous. Haven’t tried Vasari yet.
I really like how you show us the attempts where things didn't work out, it's just as helpful as seeing the most successful run and I love seeing the determination!!
To answer your question about the Kultorask Titan. It's a very strong anti-ship AoE weapon. Based on the dev blog I just read it's pretty much the same as in Sins 1. It's my favorite from that game and I can't wait to try it once I'm starting a game as the Vasari. It's four abilities. All these have AoE. Nano Leech: Drains hull points and antimatter from enemy ships, for its own hull and antimatter restoration. Nano Re-emit: reduces some of its own hull points and antimatter to help friendly ships in hull and antimatter. Gravity Pulse: Slows enemy ships in an area, and if you used Nano Leech just before, it completely stops them and their abilities. The level 6 ability is Dissever: Strong AoE damage to enemy ships, if affected by Nano Leech, this effect is even bigger. The Titans and capital ships are relatively slow, but in Sins 1 you can accompany the Titan with a capital ship (Antorak Marauder) to speed it up and improve its acceleration. That way you could send the Titan into the center of the enemy frigate fleet, use Nano Leech and Dissever --> No more enemy frigate fleet :D With the great amount of similarities, I expect this option to be still available in Sins 2.
One of it's upgrades (not abilities) in the new game is a spinal gun that chews through capital ships very quickly. Not so much AoE-focused this time around.
My favorite ship was always the rapture BC. It's a solid hybrid battleship/buffer/debuffer with the hilarious ability to permanently steal enemy frigates and cruisers over the supply cap. Since cruisers seem to be a lot squishier in Sins 2, I'm worried it won't be as effective
I have tried out the Kultorask Titan. It is a beast. With the various Vasari upgrades, it is very durable and can siphon health from enemies. On top of that, it has a lot of weaponry, including a massive amount of Phase Missiles(if you take the upgrade). So its abilities allows it to deal damage and debuff a bunch of enemy ships "near" it(very large AoE), while its main weaponry can absolutely devastate single targets.
on my second game now. First one took me awhile cause of all the battles I had to jump back in forth to. Really wish the ships combat AI would automatically prioritize the relevant ships, I don't need my titan wasting nova cannon shots on frigates when there is an enemy titan right in front of it
It is an RTS after all. There's gonna be some micro to get the most out of your ships. Not everything is going to be automated. Edit: spelling corrections and auto-correct mistakes.
Potato you gotta try they Vasari Exodus and go full migrant-fleet. Your entire empire on the back of your capital ships while you crack open planets for fun and profit!
This is vary fun :) Gave me an idea - 1st tech rush influence, grab boarding party, and start stealing LRM cruisers from neutrals as you make your way to the 1st enemy in sight. Then grab pirate gang on 2nd level tech and you can contest even impossible AIs with ridiculous fleet :) LRMs will reap apart any early fleets, and late ones too lol
Oh man, this game looks awesome! And Potato calling for a game mechanic right out of Barrington J. Bayley's "The Pillars of Eternity": Meirjain the Wanderer. A wandering planet full of ultra rare artifacts.
I just finished an 8.5 hour in game time match (thank god for the speedup button) in a 10 player FFA with all medium AIs and 1 hard AI. its 2am and im getting ready to go to bed, and here ive found the perfect one to fall asleep to!
Aggressive A.I. seems to attack at 22-26min, while defensive pretty much leaves you alone for 40min. Behavior is set at random by default. Setting them all to aggressive would be something fun to watch.
32:55 reminds me of the Barbarossa from X4 - a very large privateer with guns for taking out trade ships and a large cargo hold for the loot, easily repurposed into an armed merchantman. Could be neat if Enclave kept the current tech and Primacy had armed trade ships instead.
My man I’ve followed you for a long time then got locked out of my account but I’ve made a new you tube account and have reflowed you. Love your content and hope to see tons more for sins 2.
2:04:50 You can get all of your buffs on the left/right of the ship icon, sadly it doesn't include base values which would be GREAT but it's really cool to see all the stacks to your health/armor/attack/antimatter
Even hard ai is pretty friken hard. Even in rebellion. I'm taking a little time off. I work on computers, so i can't play too much computer games. My hands can't take it. And i think they will update this game alot. They did with rebellion too. Rebellion i feel is better than sins 2 right now. I finally got pretty much all the add-ons for rebellion just like 5 years ago. They are cool and worth it. Vasari is a huge difference than rebellion with not using credits, but obviously they still balanced the purchasing too. Vasari is still considered hard mode even though it has 1 less currency. vasari is not as good in this game than the others. Everyone agrees. You are supposed to play as tec. It may take a long time till they balance it again. But i think they already did an update. I'm still gunna wait. I still have alot of videos to post too. Im also playing and uploading a few other more layed back nicer games. Sins gets heated. It really does. I lost against a hard ai in sins 2 and then again in rebellion. That pissed me off so bad. It was because the enemy team was actually working together, and my team was dumb. So dumb. The ai really worked together, it was cool to see. They took over the center line division between my team, then they both had starbases, but the one on my side defended so well and the ally had thair ships there, attacking, defending the buddies plannet, then they launched thair titans and it was all over. I actually fought them back many times on my little dumb astroid, split my team, and tried to help my dumb ally who was almost completely dead. But it was just a stale mate. I was then planning on taking over the pirate base between me and my ally, and that would have helped alot. But i didn't want to play another 4 hours. When it's hard, it can take 6-8 hours. I don't jave time for that. So i gotta bite the bullet and play as easy or normal. I don't want to, but i still have to learn sins 2 anyway. It's very different under the hood compared to the other sins games. It looks similar, but it is very different. I think you can get bigger fleets in this game. It feels very different idk...
This game is great, but one thing i miss from Stellaris is... The fact you get nice juicy RP numbers like "5 billion people killed" when bombing a planet. Same in Sword of The Stars now that im thinking of it (not SoTS2, we dont talk about that game). It would be so easy to just rename "HP" to "Millions of people" in the UI. lol
I don't know if it works the same way as in Sins 1 but try the Vasari Loyalist (maybe the enclave in this game) with the Vorastra titan. I remember with that i was able to play as a nomad, not colonising planets but literally eating them with the titan, it was really fun. The Kultorask titan is an interesting one, if it has similar abilities as in the previous game then it can destroy whole fleets on its own as it can heal from leeching hitpoints from the enemy, so a fleet with a lot of small ships couldnt defeat it as it was feeding on the little ships. A fully decked out Kultorask could only be defeated with a very capital ship heavy fleet with another titan, preferably a Ragnarov
Here's an idea, the ability to incorporate a minor faction into your empire so that their ability/abilities won't disappear unless both they and your empire dies. Maybe just add a tier 5 on the influence thing?
The Marza is imo the second worst choice for a first capital apart from the Dunov. No PD means youll get hammered by some militias/loot protectors which can have missiles cruisers in the double digits. And in reverse to ever present militia flak frigates will completely negate a good portion of the marzas damage. And in order to make use of the raze planet credit generation youll first need to find and defeat an enemy. Then the raze planet ability just speeds up the process and its nothing a few additional planet bombing frigates cant do as well. My recommendation as Tec for a first cap ship is the Carrier. The Akkan lacks too much firepower.
I thought it was 1v5 rather than FFA, which would've been impossible to the fifth. Still very impressive! I love tec primacy, but I'm only comfortable with unfair difficulty
This would have worked if you hadn't used the hardest AI. For difficulties past hard it gets cheat resources, which means it'll also have an ungodly number of ships, so it'll always be able to chase off raiding parties.

I have a hard time gauging how much of my fleet to dedicate to a fight to win comfortably without over committing. I always either send too little and get stomped, or too many and get flanked at the worst moment. Because of this, I find the Vasari to be the easiest for me to use because after they become mobile, every fight is a total commitment and effectively a last stand.

But seriously, grouped defense turrets just allow AoE abilities to hit all of your defense at once. Also when attacking a sector, focusing down the turrets before the starbase saves enormous damage against you, they go down very fast but deal lots of damage if you just let them hit you for 5 minutes while you focus the starbase. Again.. I know i'd lose in a head to head vs Whiskey but god damn is my hindsight / backseat gaming just a perfect 5/7. 20/20
