@@MontuPlays Yes! With Wrath, you only really ever need a progenitor or a colony ship if you hit a dead asteroid or don't want to use a temple of pilgrimage for some reason. But remember, you can always build them for colonizing and planet development, then replace them later. Your home planet starts with a temple of pilgrimage, so the second you clear the adjacent gravity wells of enemies, they are magically colonized.
A player on TEC could easily deal with this. The AI just cant cope with this level of Spam. It's a useful tactic until the TEC player puts flak burst on all ships and spams Gardas.
Interesting tactic. As an original disc owner with 1000+ hours (including Steam Rebellion) 75% of which spent as playing the TEC with some Vasari on the side, I used to hate the Advent. As a matter of fact the only 2 remaining achievements I haven't got are Advent related and I had to do most of them twice as they didn't carry over to Steam. This actually looked like a neat thing to try. Impressive how the game engine handles all those swarms without a hiccup. Thumbs up!
For the record unfair AI is not really that difficult. AI up to nightmare is weak against carriers in general even if you are playing TEC (just not Vasari) and the AI also has a habit of fleeing too easily (it believes it is outmatched when in reality it may not be).
Fun run. Play Freespace’s Shivans. Bum rush the L-Gate and mograte there. Then wipe out all space faring races to allow the non spacefaring races to become space faring. Then wipe those out.
@@tempe_t3680 in part yes I'm trying to go for a one type weapon for all three races and than have them fight only using that one weapon in a multiplayer game to see which one is the best
I was actually getting stomped by the Hard AI Vasari Exodus as TEC Enclave. I tried to Turtle and make a diverse army but I just kept losing all my stuff So I just decided to bite the bullet and make nothing but Carriers and more carriers. Even stopped building Titans. Suddenly I could win fights
Is Sins Rebellion strike craft spam was balanced by requiring antimatter to build it (for non-capital carriers). So Aeria Drone Host came out of shipyard with 0 strike craft, had to spend all it's 600 antimatter to build it and even then was only 90% stocked. Add to that build time and build time penalty of 90% if the enemy is in the same gravity well and this cheese was at least somewhat countered. Now in Sins 2 it isn't balanced in any way, so in multiplayer you go for carriers or you bleed and lose. This is sad. Thanks Montu for bringing attention to it!
hi, can you share your opinion on faction balance, i read on the internet that advent is much stronger than tec, but yesterday i played a match against unfair AI, and at every stage i felt that i had ways to reliably beat my opponent
I was just thinking, that actually sounds like a normal Advent Wrath game lol Carrier spam and colonization through their special building, which is better then a colony ship. Wait, and then you just build non carrier ships + a colony ship you don't even need? I'm surprised you're not going for impossible AI, without AI mods that's very doable. Fighter only, no bombers should also be very possible. Against unfair, which was nerfed recently too, that's more a walk in the part honestly Just play aggressive, top fleet power and be on "must have only" plan for tech until you're very fluid with a big fleet
This was great to watch. I loved the strike craft swarm in 1 and was a little devastated when it got absolutely obliterated by missiles in 2. Do you know if they've been buffed at all since release? Because they were the Advent's main thing and they didn't seem to work any more. The issue, as best I could spot it, was that the fighters were capable of intercepting enemy missiles but the AI couldn't auto-target them well enough to actually intercept efficiently and the only way I could think of to do it manually was to pause, target a missile, unpause, destroy it, pause, target a missile (which sounded like such pure pain I didn't even try it). Beyond that, I still really miss trade stations in the factions other than TEC - it's probably an optimisation to reduce overall lag (which is understandable), but the convoys of trade vessels travelling through your empire did a lot to make it feel alive and active.
There is no way that this was on unfair. Unfair would have been battering you from 10min mark. They never attacked you. Also if you gave them that many planets all of them would have had starbases and mega weapons. This felt like normal or easy ai.
The AI in this game isn't quite as sharp as the old. Notice how the unfair AI parades its ships through a hostile warzone not once, not twice, but three times, taking massive and unnecessary casualties
Ai is a bit modest. It wants to run away, doesn't want to fight. Stay and lose everything or plow through and lose 1/3? I think AI has the right idea here just running away. It's initial positioning is bad though, which led to these events in the first place.
You play TEC, put flack burst on all capital ships, and spam the AA frigates. Basically you just want to fill the combat zone with as much PDC fire as possible.
@@MontuPlays maybe they did some changes since last month, but right now, unfair AI is really unfair, you can't afford to be too aggressive early game, 20 min in the game and they already have double fleet power anyway, if you ever decide to play this again, i would love to watch a multiplayer game on a huge map, kinda like stellaris
@@2077_cyberfrog honestly I think the map also changes the ai behaviour. I find I can easily handle unfair ai on these small 2 player maps. But on the bigger FFA maps, usually I get wrecked

the AI will attack you, if it feels like it can win. If it determines it cant win then it runs away yes. The TEC AI often starts by spamming corvettes, which simply cant deal with strike craft spam at all.
Please let the devs know their game looks cool, but that price point is a non-starter for me. Aren't they planning on releasing constant DLC? Seems really greedy to ask for $100, and I'm not here for it.
It's £41.99 on Steam right now, which is a pretty average price range for a game (actually on the cheaper end of the £40-£60 most major new releases charge). So either you're talking about a dollar with a conversion rate of of over 2-1 (which I can't think of) or you're somehow getting scammed by a different seller who's hiked the price. Either way, that's not really on the devs.
@@aecides3203 The $50 "Base Price" (Steam) doesn't include the campaign, all the victory conditions, or all the ships. If you're actually playing just the $50 version, good on you mate, but I can't see anyone actually buying "only" the "base game", since so much is missing.
