Awesome my office is finally getting a sub. Perfect size, power, and price! Gary you and your team are keeping the industry on their toes for sure. Thanks
This micro sub is really nice. The stereo lovers dream come true. Blends well right out of the box. Very punchy, musical and strong. If subwoofers always disappointed you, then this is the one sub that won't. This is how subwoofers should have been designed from the start. No longer will you stereo nuts have to wonder if those 6.5" bookshelves can do bass, this is the reference solution to all bookshelves . Just wow.

I just got mine and wow it integrates into a stereo set up so nicely. Punchy, musical and powerful. Wasn't expecting to keep this since subwoofers have always been miserably disappointing. I'm keeping it. There is nothing else like it.
I just purchased dual sb 1000 pros and they're amazing. These launched shortly after and it is a bit tempting to return the 1000 pros and swap. These micros won't extend as low and probably won't deliver the same volume. It takes 2.25 8" woofers to have the same surface area as a 12". Although the micro has more power, so it would be an interesting comparison.
They do different things well, Craig is correct with his comment about the SB-1000 Pro extending lower with greater output. The micro is a bit more musical.
@@cjdontthink2 All good micro subs need massive power to fight the suction (when the driver moves outwards) of the small box. It's actually pretty simple math. Sunfire was the first company to accomplish this using their tracking downcoverter. Veloydne also made these, the unique feature being an accelerometer. As for the surface area of the 8" woofer vs. a single 12" woofer, your math is spot on, but you obviously need a much bigger box to hold the 12" driver. In the end, I ended up buying a DD-12 just so that there would be less stress on the driver. I'm actually a little surprised that SVS didn't try to use a dual 10" driver inside this box, but I suspect the reason is because they either couldn't come up with an amp powerful enough to power it, or the Thiele-Small numbers demanded a slightly larger box.

You will be sacrificing a significant amount of low frequency output and deep bass extension by swapping out the dual PB-2000s. The bass will be amazingly musical and punchy, but it won't be as powerful or deep.
It would definitely pair. You may consider a larger, more powerful subwoofer to match the output of the towers if you really like to crank it to reference volume. 3000 Micro would be great for more moderate listening but if you want chest-compressing bass, go bigger.
Their M.O. has been to downstream technology to their lower end products, I imagine they'd upstream these into the larger subs. Spec sheet needs to be updated to list Spouse approved 😁👍
All SVS subwoofers are designed to produce speed in transients that can match any musical content. That said, a smaller driver has less mass and can move quicker with less amplifier power so the 3000 Micro is ideally suited for music. The more important factor is the speakers you are pairing with.
Awesome! SVS has become in my eyes the gold standard for home theater. I honestly wont even consider other brands when i do my next theater upgrade in about 2 years. Will be going all SVS. Cutting edge stuff here.

Just curious, why hasn't SVS used a 10" driver in any of its lines? In my opinion, a 10 is the perfect size crossover sub, balancing the tight response of an 8 with the extension of a 12. That's really what's holding me back in switching to SVS, and that sucks because I know in my heart SVS is where my acoustic heaven lays. My current setup, dual Klipsch RW-12Ds, sound amazing, but during certain songs they sound sloppy. Im not talking straight music, I'm talking during movies, when a song comes on, the 12s just aren't tight enough for my taste. Now I haven't heard dual 3000 micros to compare, but from my experience, 8s are typically punchy. My wants needs & desires for the perfect audio environment (50% movies & 50% music) revolve around DUAL SEALED 10"s. That can be single driver 10s or push pull like the micro 3000s. EITHER WAY I'm getting 2 .. "Utah! Get me two".
We've found with the right voice coil design, you can get transient response and accuracy in a 12-in driver that is equal to a 10-in with the benefit of added output. The dual active 8-in drivers on the 3000 Micro are as tight and punchy as it comes when talking about musical bass, so try starting there and then audition dual SB-1000 Pro if you want slightly deeper extension.
