@@francescotrombetta8548 1) Phelps and Pellegrini ARE in the SAME sport so what you say about Maradona/Marta doesn't make any sense 2) I was responding to the person above who compared Phelps and Pellegrini, so you should go to them to say that they don't stand a comparison, not to me. 3) Phelps is the absolute greatest olympian of any time, and the best swimmer in ALL styles in the history of humanity. Pellegrini is the best in the 200fs. I agree with you - the comparison is ridiculous. Phelps is out of this world and doesn't compare to anything.
@@CNirta no, i never said that both of them aren't in the same sport but you didn't understand one thing: comparing an Olympic male diver with an olympic female diver doesn't make any sense since they compete at such different level

She is often underrated. She was never considered one of the three favourite for the podium. Even before the final Titmus and Sjostrom were more favourite than her. And in 2019 she wins again.
She was like 4rth or 5th. Her last 50 meters were insane

That first race was INSANE. To outsplit your opponent by 3 seconds in the last 50. I don't think I've ever seen that.
Of course, I went back to check splits. The Swedish girl swam a mediocre 2:01.51 to anchor. Federica only split a 1:56.51. That's not exactly extraordinary. She's been much faster than that.
Those supersuits made quite a difference.

The best swimmer female of all the time is Katy Ledecky. Fellegrini was the best.
So funny the 2017 US broadcast, in which Pellegrini is mentioned only in her last 10 meters. 😂 At 30 y.o., she won the world championship once again, with 1:54.22 (far better then her world records in her 18s, 19s, and most of her 20s. At 31 she would have loved to win her second olympic gold medal in the 200m freestyle, she just makes jokes on IG, she'll do her best at 32 next year. She is a living and powerful myth for her great young competitors, the world gold medalist at 28 and 30, she has had such a long career, no one would blame her if she fails, one can only wonder why she has such a long life of world achievements, she got her first olympic silver medal when she was sixteen, she retired for a few moths, she once in a while retire, and that is very funny, in that she can't stay at a distance from water and competitions, it's in her nature to swim and compete with others, as long as she will be able to do that at world levels. 1:54.22 in a 2019 world final is really something, one needs a girl from the new generation do defeat her with her current speed.

She is to this day the first and the only woman to ever swim sub 1.53 in the 200m freestyle. One of the oldest world records that are still there after FINA banned "high-tech swimsuits" and the oldest female world record. She won in 2019 again. She is the only athlete in the world who has won a medal at 8 consecutive world championships in the same event. From 2005 to 2019, 4 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze. In 2019 she also set her personal best (not counting high tech suits) in the 200m freestyle at the age of 31 years old. I mean... She is part of the history of this sport.
The first woman to go under 4:00 minutes in 400m freestyle. The first to duplicate a 200-400 gold in two consecutive editions. Yes, incredible!

È bona e può permetterselo. Resta una professionista come pochi. Ricordo soltanto che a 31 anni di età batte le 19enni. Divina a dir poco!
Non credo che sia antipatica e non vedo perché debba rendere conto a qualcuno quando "decide di divertirsi" (vorresti alludere ai fidanzati? Ma seriamente?) Io credo che non si "rassegni" di essere un fenomeno al limite del sovrumano, per questo vuole fare vedere che lei è umana e non divina. Ma se ne deve fare una ragione, ha guadagnato quello che ha con il duro lavoro, ma è un fenomeno, lo è.

@@batta82 This is just a myth... In the States if you are not sponsored you cannot do anything. Money comes from private sponsors not from the government, in Italy, despite an evident lack of structure, you can at least begin even if you do not have money. In Italy we do not celebrate the myth as they do in the States. Pellegrini like so many other athletes deserves for sure much more respect that she is getting from the establishment and all of it, just because she does not fit the "character" she is supposed to "perform" in order to be a real star but not a real herself. That said, I do not like much this idea of creating a myth and use it as food to nourish people's lives. She is still a person and I do not think it is clever to put on her such pressure and responsibility ; it is not going to help neither her, nor the people leaving out of her myth. Brava !

they made Missy Franklin a myth and look what happened. Fede won his first Olympic medal at 15. At 30 she continues to win a gold medal. Fede is the longest-lived swimmer of her generation. I challenge any "American myth" to swim for fifteen consecutive years and remain among the best.

i confess that I am a big fan of Fede. She trains in the same pool where I regularly swim and several times I had the incredible honor of swimming just next to her lane (of course she swims at double speed than I do). That said, I am convinced she is the greatest swimmer of all time, at least the best feminine swimmer of all times. She has dominated her races for 15 years, something that no other swimmer has ever done before. Let's see if someone else will be able to do better than Fede, if will it be Ledecky or someone else in the future.
Sorry, I don’t want to be polemic…but you swim and train in the same Team of Federica? Normally when a professional team training, the pool and the races are closed for the normal people. Is just like to say that, sometimes, I trained penalties next to Ronaldo…I’d love it…but I don’t play in Juve! Repeat: it’s just a curiosity…

Lui andava a farfalle per guardare la rimonta della Ungheria . Ma le ha viste e sentite mai le cronache di canoa per le gare dei fratelli Abbagnale? Galeazzi ci dava l'occasione di gareggiare e VINCERE tutti insieme. Alla fine eravamo tutti stanchi e tremanti d'emozione .
