Most people think phone cameras are all they need so here I am testing a smart phone gimbal because of those facts right there. I took some smooth Q footage but it didn't look very smooth!? Could you please tell me why that I don't have smooth video clips?
@@mohamedamir5432 It takes some practice with the way you walk and hold it. Its not 100% automatically smooth. I give some tips later in the video. Hope those help! Also make sure it's balanced before you turn it on

I am a RUclips video tutorial junkie - and YOUR video did something SO! RIGHT!! You did cutaways, not jump cuts. Everywhere I look… jump cut, jump cut, jump cut. You made and awesome video - you covered the topics well and without droning on and on. Best gimbal for cellphone in the market. I used it today for the first time while recording video for our local Relay For Life in Douglas, Arizona. I'm not kidding when I tell you that after 12+ hours of use, the battery indicator was still showing full charge... Of course that I was powering off after finishing my shots, but that was a pause off less than 5 minutes before I started to use it again... Our Relay For Life is a 24 hour event, and this gimbal with only one charge worked until the end of the event... I highly recommend this gimbal!... 👍👍👍 Galaxy S-8 user...
ricardopr54 Yeah their battery life is amazing! I wish they put that in cell phones. My phone is always dead. I wish using it for months before this review and it was still good. No draining

Nice review. I've owned one for a couple years. The one tip I would give people is once you get one, practice, practice, practice. You'll botch a lot of early shots, so get it over with by practicing!

Having a gimbal for your smartphone makes such a difference when vlogging with your smartphone.
I am vlogging with the Samsung S7 Edge and also with the Smooth Q since July.
My quick review:
* The Android Apps is complete crap and unusable.
* I can barely fit in my Røde Smartlav+ Microphone. My larger Røde Smartphone micro can only be inserted with force and I probably break something when doing so.
* The pan motor was unable to stabilize after three months and I was unable to get a repair in Germany. Amazon was kind enough to send a replacement!
I just hope that the new one will not be broken again so soon.
Thanks for the feedback! Have you tried moving the cradle over to fit the mic? Its adjustable.
Hi, yes of course. The Smartlav+ fits in, but it requires some adjustment, as you say. The larger Røde Smartphone can be inserted to, but I need to slide the cradle so much downwards, that it applying some force and presses the microphone against the gimbal.

Alright.. I just bought the ZhiYun Smooth Q..... Sadly it was very different from what you guys mentioned.. It does not support 4K.
ydtan1 Its not different from what I said at all. Im using a Google Pixel and can shoot 4k 30fps with the rear camera. Are you on video mode?
ydtan1 I also just tested on the Samsung S6 and it also shoots 4k.
Then it's kinda weird, my S7 Edge doesn't show the 4K option. Highest it can go is only 1080p in ZY Assistant and ZY Play has different video resolution option such as "Good Quality", "Execllent" (no idea what resolution these serves). I took some screenshots of the options, if only I can post them here.
ydtan1 You can direct message me on my instagram @atolavisuals. Theres a settings button on the right side (i think its third down) where you change the resolution options.
you don't need to use the ZY apps to shoot 4k, any camera app can use the gimble. You just lose some of the ZY app features.

No for GoPro mount, just put the gimbal in portrait. Pop your GoPro in and switch to selfie mode and your ready to go, u can't see what your filming but it still works

Hey, thanks! Merry post-xmas! The gimbal is treating me well, but it's tricky to get their apps to work with my Android. I use it manually, and it makes the smoothest videos! I think technically my phone is just small enough for the Smooth Q weight limit, but I'm using a Galaxy S8 plus, so it's pretty tall, which makes it not balanced. But the motor seems strong enough to handle the weight once it's powered on. I haven't uploaded any videos with it yet because I'm still trying to capture enough B roll to make a good Disneyland montage, but once I get that project finished, you should check it out!

Your review touched on a key point that others miss when highlighting the bounce ... yeah, you have to factor that into your movement. You didn't see it so much with steadicams because it was hard to bounce with 50 lbs of gear strapped to you.

Something make me sceptical is how the gimbal encounter with a smartphone that has Extreme OIS/EIS in the camera?
I saw some guy make a review on it with iPhone 7 Plus...and the outcome is super horrible..the OIS is fighting with the gimbal stabilisation and end up having a warping/jittering footage
I agree. Thats why I mentioned testing it out with and without IS first. It still works great with it turned off completely.

and also don't hold it straight, it won't compensate the movement well. tilt it away or towards you like 25 - 35 degree.

Just got the Smooth Q btw, it's awesome although I have to practice a bit with it and fiddle with the settings to find the sweetspot of panning accelerations etc. Do you have some tips regarding this?
btw, with the Zhiyun app I can't find the option to shoot 60fps even though my phone is capable of doing that in 1080p. Do you have that same problem? I switched to an other camera app for the moment
Sorry youre having issues. Maybe try the slow motion mode? If its not listed at the bottom right where the resolutions are, they probably dont have it for your phone. Id write to them to make sure its not a glitch.
Used mine in Hawaii and had the carrying case over my shoulder the entire time. Everyone thought I had a ukulele. Lol

Hi, thanks for sharing. I have a Note 8 and the tracking works well with my phone. Once you click on the camera for there's a dot with for corners surrounding it. Perhaps they just updated it but I've been using mine since I bought it in 2017.
Nice review! Just bought one! I'm a newb. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and it seems the app stinks. Is there anyway to shoot with the native Galaxy camera instead? Video feels laggy within the app. Also, the app doesn't seem to have any good features as shown on the iOS version. Thanks for your feedback.

Great review. I was looking at this but read that the weight of the iPhone 8+ didn’t balance right. Ended up purchasing the OSMO. Tested it out at the Apple Store and worked great with my 8+.

I watched the advertisement ads I experienced regretfully not having the features described ,
first of all, I have to say that it has destroyed the vibrations, but the main goal is met, but the majority is too much.
1 - navigation key is running upside down, you're pushing up and down , the same for the left and right direction.
2-although it is 100% charged 3 routing engine is very weak and is running faintly.
3 - The connection with BT disconnects continuously
4-panoramic image taking appears to be recording does not record.It doesn't record some of the normal shots.
5-In free mode , right left orientation works, fixed and selfi does not work.
6-a fake program to update the opening video can not watch and does not make any difference in the update
7-follow-up mode is very unsuccessful self-signlining loses frequently leaves the follow-up , setting is deteriorating .
8 - material quality is bad , I think long life can not be used
9 - zoom button zooming in gradually, gradually zooming out gradually.
10 - definitely not stable ,not working properly.
Good heads up on the inverted mode, couldn't figure it out until now!

Thanks Kitty! Say I was looking for one of those 90 deg. adapters for my iPhone, but I could only find ones with a 7 inch cable (for a Mavic Pro... too short), or 3 feet (which will constantly get in the way). Have you seen a 90 deg. lightning adapter with a 1 to 2 foot cable?

This gimbal doesn't go well with the regular Samsung S7. When you mount the phone and balance it, you can see the motor on the right of the screen. Pulling the bracket or the phone further to the left is the only way to fix it but when walking it sometimes jerks because there's more weight to the left. I'm a bit dissapointed with this.
dinosz1000 Thanks for the feedback! Sorry to hear this. I havent tested it on a s7. Its even within the payload bracket and still not balancing right?
If I balance it right, you can see the motor on the right of the screen. If you pull the phone a bit to the left until the motor is not in the way, it is unbalanced. The gimbal will keep the phone straight when you turn it on, but when you make sudden moves, you can tell it shakes a bit because there's more weight on the left side. Only workaround is to find a counterweight to put at the bottom of the phone. It's a known issue from what I've read in comments. I think the problem is that the s7's camera in not at the edge of the phone but a bit further to the middle.

I have the s7 and no issues with having it all the way in the holder, I do not see the motors at all. Now, my older Xperia z3 is a different story .. the buttons are pressed in the holder and that messes with the recording (I'll have to turn off the button controls in setting).
Nathan Bradford-Grant are you balancing it before turning it on? Many people have reported the same issue with the regular S7 and there's also a review on youtube that shows the problem. Watch the video "chest mounted samsung s7 on zhiyun smooth q gimbal while skiing" to see the problem.
I'm gonna pull Stannis Baratheon here at 5:33: fewer features, not less features. Any time you can count, you use "fewer". Anytime you can't, use "less".

Hehe thanks! I dont know all the gimbals that hold phones over 6inches, but you can check out the DJI osmo mobile. It can hold an iphone 7 plus with no case. I'd double check about the iphone 8 plus
I noticed a little choppiness at 0:49 . Which I've noticed with a few gimbals. Perhaps you needed to toggle off the stabilizer on the phone itself or third party camera app you may have used?

This is such a great gimbal! Unfortunately it doesn't work with my s21 Ultra - phone is too heavy and the clamps don't hold well with my phone case.. I don't want to take my phone out of the case everytime I want to use this thing so I'm selling it
