    I am so impressed by your art and your storytelling! I learned so much about Clara Schumann. She was even more amazing than I had realized. Nice job on your German too! This is excellently done. Great information!

    Wish I could've done this for Music History II instead of a 20 page research paper!! I am currently using this video for my upper level students since she is our COM. Female composers rock!! Thanks for the awesome video, and nice research!

    Vor ein paar Jahren hatte ich eine heftige Clara Schumann Phase. Das kam, weil ich mich mit ihrer Musik befasst hatte. Es ist absolut verständlich wieso Brahms sie vergöttert hat. Ich hab dann irgendwann aufgehört ihre Stücke zu hören, weil ich an einen Punkt kam, an dem ich sterben wollte, ihre Musik in den Ohren und darüber in meinem Herzen und meiner Seele. Clara Schumann ist ohne jede Frage "The Goat"

    This was a fascinating history. It is sad that such a gifted pianist who started performing at such a young age, despite her early difficulties speaking and reading, still needed financial assistance from her friends as an adult, despite her successful concert career. And I thought that was a pattern of just US musicians, even those with great talent. Hopefully this will all change in the future.

    She was extraordinarily. The female Liszt. Or was Franz the male Clara Schumann :)

    • @vinista256
      @vinista256 3 года назад +6

      In terms of her virtuosity, she resembled Liszt, but her approach to music was the antithesis of his showy pyrotechnics-her technique was always in the service of what the composer was trying to communicate.

    Clara hat nicht gemeinsam mit Robert einen Liedzyklus geschrieben. Zumindest wurde ihre Urheberschaft nicht angegeben. Ob Hannah Klein, die Schöpferin des ansonsten sehr gelungenen Videos dazu Quellen hat?
    I have found no evidence that there was a common work of a song cycle by Robert and Clara. True is, that he has dedicated one to his bride.

    • @resorcinolamide
      @resorcinolamide 6 месяцев назад +1

      The song cycle they composed together was the 'Gedichte aus 'Liebesfrühling', where it is Clara's Op. 12 and Robert's Op. 37. There are 12 songs in total of that cycle and Clara wrote 3 of them.

    "Editing her late husband's works". That's quite a polite way of saying "destroying or banning performance of her late husband's works".

    • @resorcinolamide
      @resorcinolamide 6 месяцев назад +2

      Clara did burn her husband's works (the ones written after like, 1852), but she did not prohibit the performance of the already published ones. In fact we know Schumann today is because Clara popularised his music by performing it publicly and encouraging other pianists to do so, and as well editing his works that was published at the Breitkopf & Härtel publishing house.
