I have three chow chow’s and you nailed it HA HA! Don’t forget to mention the constant socialization they require. Our socialization is going to the dog parks daily where they get to play with other humans and dogs too. Feel free to follow them on Instagram at carefree_chows.

Your comment right here is the main reason these dogs still get a bad name. You DONT GET IT. smarten up and listen to what I am saying. U are misinterpreting the gentleman's talking points. Every breed has a odd ball or opposite personality trait. You are just too attached to yours that you are spreading the word amd denying what this man is saying amd basically 90 percent of us responsible chow owners have been trying to drill into people's heads. I have been raising and breeding chows for 19 years. I have three personal family members and treat all of them with kindness, respect affection. HOWEVER, out of any breed and I have been around a lot. In general they are not to be taken lightly. This is a HIGHLY territorial, aggressive, strong dog that stand alone in the various types of breeds out there. There DNA is at 97 percent of that of the wolf. Being the second oldest dog I human history there genetics are still the same and without a doubt not a cute and cuddly teddy bear, ours was wonderful for 16 years type of approach as a selling feature. I'm not saying yours wasn't. I'm sure it was a gem. All three of mine are wonderful. However you still need to always be on alert and respect your chow. THEY ARE NOT TYPICAL pets and this is what you should be defending and educating people on so these wonderful digs get a better name through fully understanding it's purpose. They are so misunderstood but with that being said I have been around dogs my whole life, every Breed. I will say this with the upmost experience, for a medium size dog. No other breed has come close to the discipline, establishing alpha, stubbornness or aggressiveness as I feel when around them. Not a smart choice for most people. The most loyal dog for sure but you must NEVER forgot it's capabilites and never let your guard down nor get to comfortable. For most people these wonderful guys generally don't make the right pet choice. I highly recommend this breed. One of the best. But to the right people. Very specific criteria must be met on my end when we start selling our litters. A very rigorous screening process is necessary.
