I saw this in NYC in 1994. I couldn't believe the calibre of her performance, it was otherworldly, it took my breath away. We saw 6 Broadway shows during our visit and her performance topped them all.
I came here wanting to enjoy her singing this again, as I'm still in awe with her and the whole show when I was lucky to experience it live 8 years ago in London when she did a semi-staged production! Her voice and the whole experience were just goosebumpingly heavenly throughout!
I saw a much older Glen Close at the Semi staged Sunset Boulevard in 2016 at the London Coliseum, the voice was nothing like this but it didn’t matter as she has the elusive Star Quality. Moving forward I saw the stripped back reimagined Sunset Boulevard last year at the Art Deco….. Savoy Theatre with Nicole Scherzinger ….i loved it even more…… It is now in previews in New York…….if you can Go….❤
Spellbinding. And in spite of other phenomenal stars who have or currently are playing the role, to me this is quintessential Norma; with a dazed-madness and gleam of greatness in those troubled eyes. (Glenn) Close to perfection ...
I was lucky enough to see her play the role of Norma Desmond on Broadway back in 2017. Her performance was simply breathtaking. Hoping she reprise the role soon, preferably in the UK!
I am at the Sydney opera house tonight watching the show. Sarah Brightman. I am watching this during the intermission now because I need to remind myself how good this song can be. It’s really really TOO big of a difference!!
@@liv6531Sarah is not here in all Tuesdays and Wednesday matinee shows 🤣 hahaha jk but honestly saying, I love the shows too and I still think it’s worth it ❤
@@liv6531 I know tho Sarah is not on any Tuesdays shows or Wednesdays matinee 🤣 hahah but seriously speaking, I still think it’s worth it. I’m like u too I really love the show ❤ I’m not saying Sarah isn’t a good artist. It’s just that everytime I watch her in musicals, I don’t think I’m watching a Christine Daae, I’m not watching a Norma Desmond. I’m just watching a Sarah Brightman. She’s a good singer yes, but instead of focusing on expressing the emotions, feeling and performing as the character, she’s just showing out how good she is a a singer. I feel I’m just watching a recital when I watch her, not that she’s performing in a musical (if you know what I mean). However, watching Glenn, it’s a completely different story - I see a complete Norma Desmond portrayed to a T in the flesh. I don’t mean to criticise and undeniably Sarah is still a talented singer. It’s just she has her unique style, but maybe this style isn’t my taste personally? It’s like how I love Sierra Boggess, Jeremy Jordan, Leotyne Price etc but I’ve also heard many people not liking these talented artists. Just personal preference/taste probably
Tell you a little secret: try the Silvie Paladino and you will find a huge surprise than Sarah ‘s version (yes, I tried both and you won’t regret for Silvie’s version ❤)
Yes there is. She can't turn back time. Apparently there's talk of a film of Sunset Boulevard. Miss Close is now 76 years old. And in the show, she's supposed to be having an affair with a young man, who is around 25. Hello???? The ship sailed, about thirty five years ago. Time to hang up the turban.
She is a full package Disney villain. She's got the look, the act, the laugh, and wonderful voice

In case you are skimming the comments wondering, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Royal Albert Hall Celebration, the source of this recording, was in 1998.
I had the privilege of seeing Glenn Close in this role at The London Coliseum a few years ago. Truly magnificent 🥰
They need to get to work on this film with her as Norma!! It’s taken far too long….
I think it might be too late. Norma Desmond was supposed to be 50. Glenn Close is 77 now. 20 years ago it would have been perfect.
Oh, my God!! I didn't know she sings like that!! Absolutely amazing!! 😍👌🌟
Me neither!! Totally blew me away!!
The wonderful Glenn Close such a fine actor and such a great voice! from Perth Western Australia

She is the best Norma Desmond in the musical since the beginning!
She is absolutely beautiful!!!
She is amazing! 🤩
A consummate artist - the voice, the expressions, the gestures and the look in her eyes!
I am embarrassed. I'm right at 54 years old and never knew she could sing. And beautifully at that!!
I agree, She acts and sings the part masterfully. Very skilled and determined! ❤🧡❤
WoW! Where has she been all my life? I didn't know she could do that!👍

I am so jealous. Lol
Wow. She really is something else.
Saw her in Los Angeles production many, many years ago. Still one of my favourite musical theatre visits. The US cast album is wonderful.
A Great Actress, her performance in the show was just magnificent. Second to none. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This woman is a phenom....
Maravillosa. La voz y la interpretación. No se puede hacer mejor.
Saw her in the show and she was absolutely amazing!🥰
She's wonderful
Wow! I didn’t remember her being as wonderful as singer as she is here. I’m revisiting old clips and seeing how wrong I was. She’s a master.
Please post the song,” Mother Please I’m Scared” from Love never dies
Thank you for posting this!
With one look, you can see that glenn close is just the best norma Desmond of all🎉❤
Wow!!! Just Sensational!!!!! 💥💥🌹🌹🌹

I LOVE this musical and was not sure if i’d be disappointed with Sarah considering what i’ve read… do you think it’s still worth going??

Go check out Silvie on Tuesday nights. Gosh, I had goosebumps hearing Silvie sing this. Saw both and they’re both incredible in their own ways

When I came across this video I expected an actors version of a song and then I got the surprise of my life. ❤❤❤❤
Masterful!
She's brilliant 💗
amazing
Idole
Extraordinary talented woman 👏
Amazing!!
Well done Glenn 💙
Such an amazing song!
Respectively actress with amazing voice.
Another surprise. Opera? Unbelievable!
Amazing 🤩
Fantastic!
Great show !
💜
Stunning! x
A great example of an actress singing , not a songstress trying to act and still sing.
Only with a great actress
Браво! Bravo!
Incredible 🙀
Wait? Is there anything that she can't do? ❤️

MARAVILHA ❤🇧🇷❤🇧🇷❤🇧🇷
No one will beat her Norma (musical wise, anyway). Though I’m still interested in seeing Nicole Sherzinger in the revival.
Nicole is magnificent. Second best after Glenn.
@@pablocapuchino7839 good to know.
She played Cruella De Vil
Will the film adaptation ever happen? It seems to have stalled again.
I hope so, I love this show!
Please don't bring that up. This clip was filmed when there were horses pulling buggy's down the street. Glenn Close is now 76. Sorry.
