This is absolutely true. She's so cute!
The first version is like a teenage pumpkin girl, worried that her lumps won’t go away when she’s older, and this one is when she’s out of that awkward growing phase and becomes a lady... and comes to terms with the lumps.
I love this thought. Maybe he next can be her as a grandmother-figure who truly lives all her lumps and celebrates them.

I second everyone who's saying that this is firmly in the not-creepy camp. It feels like it's exactly what it's supposed to be, having come from the coziest little glen in the Uncanny Valley. Though Rachel truly is a master of horror: showing the step-by-step process of condemning pumpkin head lady to eternal silence by slowly sealing over her mouth.

I just realized that the head looks a little like she is holding water in her mouth and my brain went "Ah, yes! She is going to spit it at someone!" And for some reason the idea of a fashionable pumpkin lady walking around with a mouthful of water waiting for the right person to spit it at is the funniest thing I have heard all day! @@BigGrabowski sigh. a pumpkin is full of seeds. using a pumpkin as a head means seeds would be brains rather than eggs - since you really want to take this in an anatomical direction. people are often known to spit out seeds. Watermelon, Sunflower, etc. When the op says the face looked like it was going to spit something out. the natural projectile that came to my mind is seed. that fact that you turned into something of a sexualized manor is on you. i have nothing to do with how you choose to interpret what i or anyone else says. I'm sad though that you took my innocent comment and added your vulgarity to it.

I think the 1% comes from that fact that it's a pumpkin head on a human, not the face looking creepy lol

Rachel, You DID improve Lady Punkin' Head ! It was much friendlier than the old one. I thought THAT one was scary. I don't like to rush the seasons since I am now 70, but I thoroughly enjoyed this sojourn into the very near future of FALL, which on that first cool breeze I would go out (in my youth) and dance upon the lawn!

As a bonafide Constant Reader, I rate Victoria as "not creepy." She was creepier before with her toothy smile. Love Morgan's skirt pattern, your choice of colors (only a hint of brown) and the execution (creepy choice of word intended) of said skirt. The hat came out really well. It's a Sunday goin' to meetin' hat. The total look...Italian kiss.

Yea I was like "referencing OTGW to get a cute not creepy pumpkin head might have been a mistake" because they perfectly bridge that between. I think it looks great, could use improvement of course, but like, she doesn't specialize in this kind of crafting, so I think she hit a pretty good sweet spot. I wouldn't mind seeing an evolution of this character over the next few years.

I think the reason why she seems creepy is because she's what I call a 'Double Sided Coin'. Depending on what you do in the costume, she's either the sweetest thing, or can be relatively creepy. Kind of like a mascot costume, disney or otherwise.

Fellow crafter, and prop & costume maker here...
If you ever decide to break the curse and give this project a 3rd try... I could recommend using big gap expanding insulation foam.
It creates lots of rounded volume, is very light, and super easy to carve (kinda like floral foam).
The downside is the bubble gaps that are exposed during carving, but those would be easy to cover up with a thin layer of papier mache, or even a thin layer of sculpting foam.
And then paint and voila!

When you're out and about in this costume, it has a similar fear factor to the creepy walking scarecrows in Doctor Who (Human Nature/Family Of Blood. 10th Doctor.) Now THAT would be a project! 😁

She looks like a really nice wholesome and good hearted soul that is often misunderstood by her human peers. But she really loves sharing autumn-y sweets and snacks with you if you sit down and have a chat with her.

I’m so sad that where I live has like zero access to craft supplies 😭 we have a spotlight and some smaller independent stores, but the independent stores all mostly stock a small selection of yarn and scrapbooking stuff. And postage for stuff is soooooo expensive. One day I’m going to move, and the location will be based on craft supply selection and cost

Autumn is like the earth is taking a giant yawn. Summer is over. The harvest is in. You savour every minute you can outside because winter is coming (and, up here in Eastern Ontario, winter can kill you... or at least make you slip on the sidewalk). It's like nature is on the verge of taking a nap. The air changes smell to something damp. The sun is warm on your face but the air is cold.

As a tip, if you haven't already, invest in a good air purifier for your basement when you're working with aerosol and chemicals so you don't breathe in the toxins while working on your projects if you can't work outside ☺️
An air purifier is not really going to help, they're for particles mostly (dust, pollen,etc) not fumes and chemicals. She needs a proper ventilation system. I worked with toxic fumes for my degree, it can be pretty dangerous,
@@imjustdandy9799 makes sense... but an air purifier still works for dusty workspaces like basements or attics so there's that at least
