    After doing this with 2 buddys, the fact you did this solo is highly impressive. I wanted to off my self halfway through

    Recommend after market coil over like fox or bilsteins that way you dont have to worry about the bottom 2 bolts on they are easily removable and can be installed when the new coil over goes in

    The easiest way I did it was removing the lower control arm bolts, Install the lower strut nuts, then used a floor jack and ratchet strap to position the arm back in place. 45 minutes for each side and had it back on the ground

    im about to do one on my truck, found a few videos wherre they disconnect the steering rack and swaybar link and drop the lower arm from the frame keeping the knuckle and everything still connected. seems like it took them about 15 or so min per side. seems way easier to do in my opinion

    When I did this on my son's vehicle I bought a cheap Harbor Freight coil spring compressor for about $40. When we compressed the springs there was no need for a pry bar or pulling the driveshaft. That's my recommendation...

      How much did you have to compress it

    • @HighCountryRambler
      @HighCountryRambler Год назад +1

      @@harrisondesmarais623 Enough to clear the bottom spring mounting bracket on top if the lower A-arm. On his vehicle it seemed to be 2 to 3 inches. Re watch this video and note how far he dropped the lower A-arm to get a idea. I put my impact wrench on each side of the compressors until they cleared.
      Google them at harbor freight if they still sell them.

      I’ve seen people mentioning a tool for the vacuum line? Did you just unplug an replug it after and everything was fine?

    What if I put a spring compressor set on the spring to re install the strut with spacer. That might actually work and I have a set too. Man great video thanks

    I've seen a few of these videos and I don't know why you guys don't drive the studs out of the bottom of the struts with an air hammer. It would make taking the struts out of the truck alot easier.

      I have done it that way on a 2018 F150 and you have to apply heat and it’s actually harder and takes more time.

    What tire size are you using here? Edit: NVM saw 275/65r18 right at the end.

    Hey Jim, Could have used a Strut Compressor or spring compressor to make the job easier ?

    now that you have lifted the front, the second you use it as a truck it will be squatting

    What size tires can you fit with that leveled

    • @imBlook
      @imBlook Год назад

      I’d go 35” tires max. They will rub slightly at a full turn.

    It definitely looks better, did you have to get alignment after the install?

      It looks really good when you actually try to use your truck as a truck and you’re facing the sky.
      There’s a reason trucks don’t come level from the factory.

    Have the same wheels and also did a 2 1/2 level, have you thought about getting bigger tires ? I’ve been in between 35 or 34 have you thought of a perfect setup?

    • @outdoorswithjim207
      @outdoorswithjim207  Год назад +3

      I may go to a bigger tire when they need to be replaced. As of now I kinda like the set up and don’t wanna sacrifice to fuel economy.

      Same haven’t noticed a bit of difference in ride quality. And I haven’t noticed much difference in fuel mileage. Headlights do you need to be adjusted though.
