      One big plus for Porsche is the reliability and build quality compared to other mid-engine sports car, especially McLarens that will put you in the poor house without a warranty.

    Great info as always! Porsches, especially of the cayman and boxer variety, will always do well because it’s a lot of car for the money and the small financial barrier to entry. Far more many people can play in the $100k-$150k price point than the $350k+ price point.

    Amazing how strong the Porsche market is. And I can confirm (although anecdotally) that is the case in Switzerland, where I live.

    I'm actually selling my tidy 981 Base Cayman PDK. Just took a deposit for it yesterday. Here's hoping I can afford to get back into one in the future. Amazing cars.

    No surprise with the C8 Z06 drop. Dealer markups for first model year were ridiculous. Even dumber are people that actually paid 50-100k over sticker. Now you can get them for MSRP. Pays to be patient

      Exactly. Plus, you aren't "saving" money by buying a $250k Porsche over a $100k Z06. I don't care what the depreciation is, you had to fork over an extra $150k up front.

    Great summary! Is there a way to show how much new car production volumes are impacting the pricing? Example. Overproduction and discounting of new models forcing prices down etc.
    Not sure if that's the issue with Maserati, but perhaps Corvette?

      Thanks! Due to the small size of the market one or two cars can influence the price trend a lot. They can for example have a high spec, high or low mileage, or be in an extremely good condition. The price trend needs to be corrected for this. Since this video is more about high level trends, i did not do that.

      @@fourwheeltradermakes sense, I just bought an R8 V10 coupe with manual in Europe and there were basically 4 cars I was able to choose from. Wherever the price will go, I absolutely love the car.

    Thanks for the insights. With reference to mid-engined sports cars, would it be possible to look at the depreciation data on the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T & the GTC4 Lusso V12. To see how the 2 different engines compare against each other and the market in general?

    It's no surprise the 718 Spyder is holding its value and is slowly going up. I got a ZO6 for 117k in the US and I feel the values are still dropping. The GT4RS market will also drop down as there is a very high inventory available on the current market.

    Some models (e.g. the GT4 RS) show a very high % of depreciation due to the fact that their market price last year was in the hype wave and far above MSRP. For such models, it would be relevant how the depreciation % is vs. MSRP.

      Indeed. This is specifically addressed for the Z06 but applies to other models as well. This change though is only relevant if managed to get your hands on one at MSRP.

      I was at the dealership for a 911 Turbo S and inquired about a GT4RS, they had them in the showroom and allocations, they wanted a $25,000 markup, I declined and they lowered it to $20,000. I still declined, I would rather get a 718 GTS with the 4.0, and I might do that instead.

      @@marcelm.4231 Cars are depreciating assets. When they don't appreciate in a timely manner, that means that the bottom will eventually drop. That's what's going to happen with Caymens, Boxters, and 911s. The vast majority aren't collector cars. WHEN is the only question. But it's likely that electric cars will blow them away in 5-10.

    of course the Z06 market is down. The economy in the USA is crumbling thanks to this presidency and dealers are no longer able to bend people over for 75k over sticker for the car. do a video on the Z06 a year again from now and we'll see where the depreciation is at from their actual MSRP price

    They ALL depreciate, no matter what brand. Sportscar enthusiasts choose their brand for the passion of the vehicle they choose, not for how much they can sell it for in the future. A car is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay for it..... Not rocket science.
