At the beginning I see a Diamond Compressor from good ole Nova Scotia Canada, I have one on my pedal board, I love it, I believe they do not make it anymore.

Have you tried using Solderstick to connected audio cables or T-Tap wire connectors on audio cables? T-Tap wire connectors can be used for troubleshooting pedal boards when a live gig if one of the patch cables is occasional working or intermittently working the T-tap wire connectors can help find which patch cable is bad while the guitarist is still playing a live gig without any interruptions

I like the juxtaposition between his pedalboard organization versus the organization of his work bench. Still, Mason, your work bench is cleaner than mine.

The DI box question came up. I'd try the DISO+ or the walrus audio Canvas if you are using a direct rig. There are also boxed (I think Goodwood has one) for long 1/4" runs to amps.

Since the SSS-SRV is kind of a pre-amp style pedal, would you recommend running into the front of a clean amp, or into the FX return of an amp to bypass the pre-amp section?

Mason, Would you want to test continuity tip to sleeve for any reason?

Ive got a question about the buffer interface.. Im alittle confused, does it require wiring or do you just secure it on the board and plug in. I would use it for the 5 cable method and am looking at purchasing a board, probably a vertex but with the buffer. thanks!!

Hello Mason! I have a question!
Just some context: I am finishing a flat pedalboard build which relies essentially on being as compact as possible (13.78x11.02 inches) with 6 pedals (including wah), interface/buffer and PSU. The PSU has 4 outputs so I will need to combine power in 3 of the outlets, and for that I will need the thinnest power cable so it won't be under so much tension: what is your advice for the smallest diameter power cable that you've worked with? The ones I have been able to find are slightly above 3mm in diameter. I was wondering if strymon would fit the bill. Thank you!

Hi Jason! You mentioned that the type of wires that are used to connect pedals to power supply doesn't effect sound quality so the type doesn't really matter as long as they meet the electrical requirements e.t.c.. But how about say for example the power cable of an amp? Is it the same deal? Or can the quality of those effect sound quality? For example depending on the thickness and material of the inner core? Thanks

Hello, Mason! I just built my first pedalboard after 15 years of using multieffect Digitech GNX3. I still have room for some pedals on my board and in my switcher and I was wondering, which pedals should I add and what do I miss. So far I've got: Beetronics Vezzpa -> Dunlop Dimebag CryBaby Wah -> Boss ES-5 switcher (JHS Double Barrel, Fulltone OCD, Boss GE-7, TC Electronic Polytune 3 Noir) -> Xotic EP Booster -> Strymon Mobius -> Strymon Timeline -> Strymon Blue Sky V2. I still got room for 2-3 regular-sized pedals or 1-2 bigger-sized pedlas. Any recommendation from your point of view??? Big Thanks!

You mentioned the linear vs logarithmic expression/volume pedal. I have had terrible luck with the way expression pedals (edit: act) as volume pedals.... I've tried it with the strymon compadre and iridium as well as the hx stomp. I just personally prefer the curve of a volume pedal, but I've never tried the vertex boost... who knows, could just be user error but the feel from zero to 20% and 90% to 100% is just different. I don't know the technical words for it but it has always bothered me. 🤷‍♂️

What do you think of the noise suppressor and in what order does it go?

    • @shonkornfeld

Its after the Overdrive and EQ. Its a Smart Gate, I only use it with high gain for staccato riffing, not to deal with noise
