I knew that immediately! Lol! Halo isn’t my favorite game or even my favorite shooter but this is one of the most epic sounds you’ll ever hear. I love the Mjolnir Mix with Steve Vai though.
this drum track and bpm has been used so many times in the series, theres the main theme, covenant dance, one final effort, i believe unyielding and reclaimer use it, tip of the spear seems to use a beat similar to this, rock anthem to save the world, this drum track has become the very essence of the first 3 games for sure.
"Sam!? Come on, we gotta get the hell outta here!" * Opens door * "This way!" * Explodes + song que * Halo 1 will always hold a special place in my heart, alongside Wolfenstein and Doom.
This played during Two betrayals when you're trying to cross one of the bridges and the covenant are fighting the flood. Two betrayals is the best level IMO it just captures the sheer desperation of Chief's situation. The covenant, who spent the whole game slaughtering the humans, are now trying to regroup in vain, no more Marines are left, 343 is trying to destroy the galaxy. It's epic and music like this plays throughout the level to just top it all off.
It plays in keyes too jumping down the hole in the ship. Was annoying the put a health kit on the hole but you can't touch it without a flycam teleport. ( for pc anyways )
I agree. Two Betrayals is the quintessential Halo experience. Every weapon except the scorpion tank is available for the player to use during the mission and almost every single enemy type is encountered during the mission, with all three enemy factions (Covenant, Flood, Sentinels) trying to kill you as well as each other. I don't think any other mission in the entire series came close to capturing that feel again. The closest ones I can think of are Gravemind from Halo 2 and Long Night of Solace from Reach.
343 trying to destroy the galaxy is given a new meaning or should i say the whole fuckin halo franchise unlike johnson, 343 does not know what the girls like!!1!!!

Those deep pounding drums and that wailing voice of Marty's are just as iconic as the strings in this godlike track. Individually, they are amazing but together......just wow! 20 years of being a part of this amazing universe and nothing will ever come close to the CE theme. The cassa grande gives it a militaristic feel, but the drums by themselves (and the voice) have a very primitive and primal sound, i love what this song achieves, the drums sound primitive, the strings and wind sound militaristic and the voice adds the mistery that Halo is known for, this is the definition of Halo

Everything about CE is so much simpler yet more effective than almost everything else the other games have done. Better banter, better AI, crisper visuals, better aesthetic, better OST. I only like the Arbiter's story and improved multiplayer in later games more than what CE offered.

Contrary to what everyone else thinks of when they hear this, my mind IMMEDIATELY jumps to the desperate bridge fight between the covenant and the flood in two betrayals
The voice in the backround was recycled and lowered for halo 2's broken gates. You can can also hear the words "Stand Tall" uttered near the end of the voice chanting.
