The Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Series was the first indicator that AMG, Merc's in-house tuning department, wanted control of their own destiny. With a 500-horsepower version of the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, widened fenders, bigger brakes, and a racing inspired interior, the Black Series is destined to become a future classic. This example is nearly showroom fresh with only 16,000 miles on it, and makes us jelly for Benzo power.

ye ye yeah, very few newer cars sound as good or better than their predecessors. Only one that comes to mind readily is the Aston Martin GT8 - building upon an already brutal sountrack. WEC Mercs use the twin turbo motor though right?

This is one of my favorite cars of all time. It looks impeccable. It was the formula 1 pace car back in the Schumacher era.
It was sold from 2007, so it's a post Schumacher era car. Certainly post his Ferrari era.
He's referring to the previous generation. That was an F1 safety car.
My mistake, the CLK63 AMG was also an F1 safety car in 2006-07.

I always remember this car by Jeremy Clarkson's review when he asked "When's the last time you took for car out in the morning for a drive with no destination, but just to drive it" or something of that nature. Really awesome car.
This and the SL65 AMG Black Series are the two greatest Mercedes in existence.

Could you imagine AMG and M division getting together to produce one seriously outrageous and exclusive Super Sedan and Supercar. BMW suspension, gearbox, amg engine and interior. That sounds like a seriously wild ass ride and i.would pay so fucking much for it. My c63 has been such a dream and i swear to god i.will buy another c63 with the m156 in the future

Good on Matt to correctly state 6,2L. Also well noted on the sharp steering. One of the finest steering systems available from AMG, if not top 5 in the world in terms of accuracy and feel. Hands down the coolest car Mercedes has ever built, for me at least.

This is one of my favourites. Absolutely beautiful car. Good on him for keeping it stock, there really is no need to fuck around with this car.
When these came out one guy from my hometown bought one. What a beast this car is. The sound, the looks, it's just a beast. A spectacle on wheels and future classic for sure. Probably the best benz of this era except for the SLR and very rare CLK DTM.

I love how a few times in this video, Matt revs it out all the way after staying at around the same rpm for a while. It had me thinking "oh wow, there was a whole lot of revs left". That thought makes me really appreciate this engine.

I don't think you'd get hurt too bad on it. As long as you keep a good documented service history on it and keep it in always-detailed condition. Unless, of course, you REALLY rack up the miles. Which, let's face it, would be damn near impossible not to do in this machine!
With Mercedes its really hard to tell, especially AMG cars. Over the yrs there are only couple AMG models thats worth collecting. I guess time will tell.
Mine has 103k miles lol. Why the hell keep miles low, cars are meant to be driven.

This car is AMAZING. Godd its really hard to believe this car exists. So much presence and "swag" as the new generation would say.
I am a car guy, I remember shades, models, occasions, I was on a summer exchange internship to work in Steamboat Springs Colorado in the summer of 2006, and I can swear I saw such a car with the AMG63 badges, they seemed authentic, the whole car did, and I was so amazed because in Europe I had never seen one of those CLK AMG's with the 63, they were all having the up to the moment 55AMG engine, like the E class, and the S class previous models had at the time. But they say the car was imported in US from 2007+

Lots of Holdens with LS engines around here too but the Mercedes has such a distinctive sound it really stands out. Great cars

First Mercedes with a 7 speed auto was a 2003-2004 S500. My 2007 CLK63 convertible also has the 7 speed auto.

I love this car so much... so rare!
I think this whole last generation of normally aspirated performance cars, especially if they come with manuals, will be solid values going forward. This car, the e92 V-8 M3, the RS4 V-8, the 997.2 GT3, GT4, Ferrari 458, etc - all great cars that don't really on the mixed bag that forced induction gives you.
Love my CLK63 BS. Its such a unique car that is a real head turner to those that know! Mine looks just like this one and is bone stock 36,000 miles. Both Renntech and Westec have transmission upgrades that provide rev matching and quicker shifts. If I decide to keep it for while I'm definitely going to get it done.

I learned the same about downshifting on my old benz.. Don't even have to be on WOT.. But a little bit of gas even. It's weird but it works haha.

Coworker just got one recently, we flund ut comes stock on KW coilovers, V3 i think, he threw toyo R888R's on it because they were the most affordable tire in the size, previous owner bought a second set of rear wheels and got rid of the stock front ones so its running 295 square setup, coworker says its the best handling car hes driven and he has a few cars that have absolutely insane handling

these cars are soooooooo powerful you will never understand until you drive one or are in one my friend has a c63amg 507 edition which is a very similar if not the same motor as this car and it is just bonkers he did a resonator and cats delete it loud and outrageous even beat a stock gallardo the older ones with 500 hp.The car is madness anyone in the market for one of these AMG V8s dive right in you won't regret it

Aside from the SLR McLaren, this was easily the best looking Benz coupe of the 2000s. Those are also the only two MBs from that decade whose values are actually appreciating like collectors items.

I’m a huge fan of the CLKs I have a 09 CLK350 coupe with the sport package and that lighting package as my daily for 2 1/2 years and I just hit 70k. I need a 63 in my life.
