i can understand how this might be difficult to follow for beginners but come on there aren't many channels for intermediate players anyways... loved this. Saves me a lot of time
Loved the colors of your chords. You are obviously a master musician and I appreciate the voicings you showed. Not a tutorial for beginners. Many thanks for your time and knowledge.
I recommend that u watch Paul David’s music theory lessons. Their on RUclips and he teaches you how chords are made. I also recommend that u learn the first shape of the natural major scale by looking it up on google in addition to how Paul tells u to learn. That helped me a lot. Cheers
Great tutorial. Having the chords displayed next to you while you play would be a bit of work, but extremely helpful for the less experienced. Loved the take you had for switching up for more jazzy tunes
' its all about E major..." This is how music teachers should be explaining. Character of songs. Root key. Resolution. Why changes occur n how. Well done buddy. U make me love jazz more and hands up for Mr S Wonder... Wonderfull
Absolutely brilliant. This is a great example of how to deconstruct a keyboard heavy R&B song and rebuild it for guitar. Thanks very much. How about Sir Duke next?!
Amazing tutorial I really like the way you break the song down. I learned a lot more that most lessons who just teach how to play the notes/chords. Thanks!
Great instructions man! I like how you cover the more standard (and easier for me!) chord forms, while showing how much color you can get with substitutions. Makes the whole lesson more accessible to more players. Thanks a lot.
I learned everything you played here in one day & even replicated the same loop you did there. I can't believe I got it so quick tho. I looked at this a couple months ago and was like "Nah Ill just find the chords and play it my way". Im glad i came back and learned this note for note! Sounds f-n-amazing! Great lesson!
Great playing and guitar sounds great too. Good lesson. Helped me me out loads, I've been struggling to pick out the right chords and that killer lick at the end. Thanks again.
Yea! just look up the chords! For example, when the teacher was showing some of the chords he tell you what they are. go look up the G#7 sharp 5. Then you will know. Best of luck brother and be easy on yourself. You'll get it!
Great lesson, it was refreshing to come across a lesson that wasnt restricted by a specific way of playing, and encouraged exploring feeling out chord choices for myself, which im new to and this lesson helped a lot. Thanks.
I've been playing guitar for years (mainly simple chords )... and I'm like after watching a few mins of this "WHY IS GUITAR STILL SO HAAARRDD!!" Thanks for uploading and keeping us challenged :)
Great lesson! I just subscribed! I heard this song on the radio on the way home today and went, "Hey! That solo would sound great on guitar!" Your lesson is the first I found and watched. I quickly picked out the song on the piano with your guidance, so now I can play around with it on the guitar. I liked that you laid out the chords and then presented some different fingerings for them. I'll go back through them slower later. Cheers!
It would be so awesome if you would put chord charts on the screen when you name the chord, so we can follow along more easily. That would be super amazing. Just subbed and love the channel!!
Ideal gig song to put on repertoire. Thanks a stack. So much fun to have with this song. I used to be in a wedding band and you just brought back memories. I'm going to do it for my grandson. Isn't the first chord in the verse C#m7? I heard you say Cm7. Probably unconsciously said it.
@@ludabandz3477 Not that big a deal my guy. pros will do this without thinking about it because they assume you know which C it is being that is is in the key of E major.
You know, we allways try to play to much notes cause we've learned all these scales and stuff all over the neck. Playing close to the melody is a real hard work and sounds so "élégant"...sorry for my uggly english and thank You for the good feeling.
Great Michael!! I listened a lot this tune by Jazz musicians in Jams. I remember your outstanding class with "Knowbody Knows" by Clapton and you do a Solo Breakdown. When i improvise with E Maj Scale or Pentatonic sounds good. Do I need to improvise this tune with chord tones? Thanks so much!!
Well, you don't NEED to, but if you WANT to sound out the chords your playing over, that's how you do it. As always, this is personal taste and you should do whatever YOU think sounds the best for that tune :)
This was a great lesson. It's not a beginners' lessons, but I don't think this song is a beginners' song either. You can easily work out the chords he's calling out if you know a bit of theory, copy his hand shapes, and most importantly, use you damn ears! :D
Hey Michael great lesson. I want to address one item just for my (fairly new at guitar) knowledge. Re the C minor 7, isn't that the 3rd fret? Is the 4th fret actually a D minor 7? Thanks. Gary
I know but you keep calling it C min 7 or C min 9 in the video. That's gonna screw up some people who don't know the key signature of E major. Still a great analysis. Thanks
I thinks it starts off with a C# minor 7th - Look at your finger on the 4th fret of the A string - that makes C# in my book. - Or am I loosing it ?? lol - You are an awesome player though. Peter.
I wish you give us the proper or common chord that u really use. not every guitarist knows/master the fretboard. i bet, a half who watches this video are beginners because this is such a great song to learn.
i can understand how this might be difficult to follow for beginners but come on there aren't many channels for intermediate players anyways... loved this. Saves me a lot of time
Amen! So many people are complaining. It’s not a beginners tutorial 🤦♂️
Yeah, I really like and appreciate the lesson - its very well communicated. Chord brain-food that makes sense and he demo's it well
Chords are C# mi7, F#9, B11, Ema. Ama7, G#7#5.
would it be possible to get tab for this song ?

Every C you mentioned should be a C sharp of course :) Nice video buddy!

Woke up early today and stumbled upon tour video. Just learned a song in minutes that I never thought I could. Great instruction.
Great tutorial! Straight to the point while teaching chord names and different positions for them!
you are such a great teacher! I've watched lots of folks on youtube.. you are tops, IMO. thank you so much for sharing!
Each morning I wake up and forget this incredible rhythm and have to re visit this lol
That vibrato!!!! Awesome cover!
Ugggg I wish you would show us how to play the chords I'm so lost
Luke Wise google them
I would recommend watching this video to learn your chords
ruclips.net/video/_LV-WpHGmL8/видео.html
RUclips does have a speed button, so you can slow it down and then pause on the chord you want, but looking them up might be faster.

This is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen. I also have PRS, but mine is not even close so beautiful.
Goob job! :) Keep it up!
Excellent. Thanks for the walk through.

Great. Love your
music theory remarks. Well done..,

True. Write down the Chords. This is a pop-jazz song. For us in jazz we know them but make it visual for the unfamiliar
Definitely. I can't tell what voicing these are
I want to learn this.. such a satisfying tune
Go for it!
Perfect! Love it. Thank you.
Great lesson! Congrats!
I Was looking for this so long. Thank you so much!!
Very welcome!!
Fantastic lesson man! Killer playing Thankyou!!
Thanks!! Glad you like it!
This is more of a music theory test than a lesson of how to play the song.
Welcome to actual learning! :)
@@Appalachian_Hippie xD ahhahah underrated comment right here folks!
Good lol
Umm not really have you ever taken a theory class? Besides it's Stevie Wonder and you can't really teach this stuff without bringing in theory.
If you think this is a "theory" lesson, you're probably not ready to tackle stevie yet
Great tutorial!! Thank you!!!
Crazy awesome!
Thanks for this awesome video!
Brilliant lesson, well paced! Great harmony explanation, I wish more lessons were like this.

Im upset more people aint notice this... smh.. he was saying Cm7
This Is the comment I was looking for! I’m a pretty beginner player but at least I’m not crazy haha
Thanks, thought he might have been tuned down half a step for a bit
it is c#m7 because if the song is in E major, its relative minor is C# :)
@@ludabandz3477 Not that big a deal my guy. pros will do this without thinking about it because they assume you know which C it is being that is is in the key of E major.
Tremendous !!!
great explanation i love your tempo there is so many beginner tutorials really slow and not much for a little advanced players
Or you can just do these other voicings
Plays a hundred chords I didn’t know existed
Thanks! You rock man!!
Excellent. Thx!!
amaazing video! thanks a lot
your killing it man:)
What a great lesson! Thanks alot!
Very welcome. Thanks!
Muito Bom !
Parabéns !
Thanks
In case anyone is wondering, I think the guitar is a PRS McCarty 594 (Faded whale blue)
Thank you so much!!!
Ur the mvp man
Really good video man! I like how you explain every single aspect of the song. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Awesome video, subscribed!
Thanks!
Great song to improvise on it. Quite dificult to play close to the melody...we always try to play to much notes. Well done my friend!
It's hard but you can have fun trying to get close! I know I do!
You know, we allways try to play to much notes cause we've learned all these scales and stuff all over the neck. Playing close to the melody is a real hard work and sounds so "élégant"...sorry for my uggly english and thank You for the good feeling.
Great job, Michael. Have signed up!
Thx!!
Love the muted rake on the melody
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wish I had a tutor near me like this 🤓
This is an amazing guitar tutorial, but it isn't for beginners.
nice guitar
I wish you had a chart for this song...
I really love this. What's your delay ms setting here on rhythm? Beautiful slap
This lesson is fantastic, the pace was just where it needed to be.

Not a Cm9 but a C#m9
Great lesson - learnt loads. But please include some basic chord info, such as C#m7: X46454 or boxes!!! Cheers!
awesome!
Here in 2020 lets goooO!!!

At 5:50, shouldn't you just have said half diminished? Or whole diminished if you leave out the root?
Thank you extremely helpful and incredibly well played. PS check out lee Rittenour and Bill champlin’s Version of this song
So great to not get babied when I can't find a proper tab 10/10
Great work sir. Can I get the taba sir? Im just a begginer and it's so hard for me. Thanks lot and Godbless!
Thanks!! I actually don't have tabs for this one :(
love the video, however can someone tell me how to play these chords ?
what are the amp settings used?
Can you play this on a acoustic guitar?
Cool ...but why say C minor not C#minor? Sixth degree of E?
Hey Michael great lesson. I want to address one item just for my (fairly new at guitar) knowledge. Re the C minor 7, isn't that the 3rd fret? Is the 4th fret actually a D minor 7? Thanks.

The 4th fret is actually a C sharp minor 7.

How did you get that tasty tone? Which pedals did you use?
So that - believe it or not - is plugged in direct. It's garageband! I think it's set to a fender blackface with some delay / verb but that's it!
it would be cool if u would have explained the chords..
its too fast for a german like me xD
Starts w a C# minor 7!
That's what I'm playing! Well, it's C#mi9, but it's the same thing. You can use any extensions you want... dealers choice!

I'd like to learn the fastest part
Can this work on Acoustic?
Of course!
Thanks man Because My uncle who is teaching me says sometimes some chords and ways of playing is different on the acoustic
the only difference on playing on a acoustic and an electric is the sound mostly everything is the same

Make a tabs about this pls
