Out of all these videos I have watched on RUclips you are one of the very few people on here that actually knows how to paint and knows what you are talking about!! Good Videos Bro and good job on most of your work!!
Hi Mr. Gunman, Thank you for doing all these Professional painting vids. I have learned a lot and keep them coming,
Awesome video! I did 41v twice so far. The first time was definitely a learning experience to say the lease hahaha. the color chips did not help what so ever (what can you expect with cromax) ended up doing 2.5 coats of the candy and got a great match. Glad to see someone explaing how this is done
That is a great paint job! You have great skill and know what you are doing! Thank you explaining the process and posting the video!
I'm planning to restore a 1970 F250 for a friend. I haven't worked as a painter in 20 years. Your videos are great retraining. Thanks!
I’m a body man/painter in the states. Your vids have made me a better painter. Thank you for your insight. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Thank you for the reply gunman, thank you I'll keep an eye out and now have subscribed 👍👌💯
Great word granny. You shouldn’t be working for anyone else you should be your own boss well done you always do a good job Gunny.
DallasTexas🇺🇸🇺🇸
You are excellent! I have learnt a lot watching your videos. Big thumbs up.
we use standox at work and have done this colour a few times and found that 2 decent coats of candy and 1 coat of clear and the colour is pretty good. Great videos keep up the good work

Gunny you are hands down the BEST painter on the Tube! Poetry in motion! Thx again for your efforts!
That's a very nice thing to say, thanks again man.
@@TheGunmanChannel it would be awesome to come to Australia and spend a week learning hands on
Very talented painter. Subscribed

Thanks for this video, am building V8 Torana & chose this colour
alright gunny i have been away for a while.. normally always watch your vids but i had abit of a barney at work and deleted all my social medias and had a good long break but now im back and ready for all the vids again, i know this isnt a new video but i love this colour :)
Great work, really appreciate the time it takes for you to create the content. For me I would have like to see you apply the pearl coat (or candy) in single speed. One needs a certain amount of dexterity to get a pearl to lay down right. Great work.
nice job mate . keep it up
Cool video impressive keep the good work up
Gracias por tus trabajos y por compartirlos con el mundo.Gracias y FELIZ NAVIDAD ,Dede España
Thank you from Australia :-)
Excellent Job!!!
love watching you spray paint something i would love to be able to do where can you buy good spraying guns for this type of painting thank you
nota 10,você é bom pintor.
hi bud, great video.that bumper turned out lovely
Thanks mate
Thanks mate, I didn't know if I should chassis black or stone chip the cross member. Thanks again for your help :)
There is no need to use stone chip in the engine bay, I'd just chassis black it.
Cool, very cool👍
nice paintwork,,,,,
Good Gunman
This is so amazing!!!! Looking for a video with metal flake if you have one...
Great work brother
so juicy colour) y`re best
I thought doing this in 1 day is enough of a joke, this guy did the paint in an hour? WOW...
This explains...
Soul Red, when you look at it in few different lighting then you will be able to tell why that 1 hour job is beyond joke.
Hi! Paint job looks awesome! I have some questions! We are going to be doing a color change to a 2006 Saab 9-3. It's currently laser red (factory color). My brother is wanting to paint the car Ford's Ruby Red Metallic (RR) or Mazda's Soul Red Crystal Metallic. My biggest question is how much paint will we need to paint the entire car? Would 1 gallon of paint be enough? How much clear coat should we buy? I know I'll have to reduce the paint and clear. We are both pretty new to painting and we don't expect a perfect job but hopefully it will turn out decent. We will be renting a paint booth 👍 Love the content, keep up the great work! 😄
Superb videos
Good match mate for a candy
Nice vid. Top work. Is there a video showing how clear need to be looking like as it lands on panels. I know it needs to be blobs at first then it flows but a reference from a pro would be nice.
Amazing work 😊
+Yasser Abdulnabi 👍👊
Champion :)
Love your vids mate
Thanks :-)
Hi, I was just wondering if you can do a review on the 3M Accuspray Spray Gun System?
I used Wanda basecoat and it had 91x bright red pearl also brilliant red xyrillic. Spose every paint is slightly different. Great job though mate.
In Cromax it's a light pink metallic under a tinted clear then a coat of standard clear over that.
thankyou nice paint jobs
Thanks :-)
if you have a current paint job on a bike tank with clear coat, and you wanted to give it a new lease of life. Could you flatten it with say 2000 grit, spray a candy paint over the top and then clear coat? thanks
i have a big scatch that go down under the primer how do i fix that i can bring the car to you if that would help you give me some advice
gunman, thanks so much for these vids, its taught me alot, and no doubt taught many more.
i am going to be painting my engine bay on the weekend, in candy red. can i ask whats the best approach with getting in and around the awkward areas, whilst maintaining an even coverage with 75% overlap. any guidance would be great.
oh and the engine and all ancillaries have been removed, i just think i will struggle around the back of the strut towers. its a mk1 golf (rabbit)
Thanks mate, the best advice I can give is to close the fan in a little and if its still not going on even then maybe try using a mini gun if you have one and when its up to clear coat maybe just spray a little fade out thinner in a mini gun too on any dry edges just being careful not to go too wet as it can run easily and if you dont have any fade out thinner you can make your own by mixing about 10-25% mixed clear with 2k reducer 75-90% and maybe wind the fluid in a bit to give you more control over the amount of paint hitting the area, Good luck mate.
Hey gunman great vids, do you let the base flash normally b4 candy or put it on b4 it's flashed . Thanks
very good work, in fact I like it. My question is; I have a BMW e30 Convertable and i would like to paint it with candy red, what do you think?
thx
good job dear
great job as usual

+its nunya business 🍻

+sam lim thanks
Nice boss
Ur the best
@thegunman im never to automotive paint but I want to learn how to do candy... how long does candy paint last... so you prime plastic different from metal
... I notice you did use a tack cloth why is that also what are the steps to get candy.. primer, base coat, candy coat and clear?
can you use the scotchbright pads on a butterfly sander?
hi mate just wondering if you know if Mazda Zeal Red Mica (41G) is a clear over base or is it a candy style like 41V
hey, man badass job but I have a question, I'm new to painting cars and do small jobs like painting bumpers and repairing, and wanted to get into more serious bigger jobs like who cars and SUVs but I'm still learning and wanna paint my truck, I've seen other videos recommending starting off painting the more difficult spots like the roof and hood also should I remove my doors?
I have a mustang that I would like to get painted Soul Red and I was wondering if you think this is a job that I can hand to a small unnamed car paint shop and still expect them to do it right with all the correct layers and good results?
Man you are like poetry in motion with that gun! Smooth and deliberate. I'm learning everyday watching you! Do you have a recommendation on a sander? DA or orbital. I heard you mention dynabrade a few times. Do you have specific model numbers? Thanks again friend!
Jeff DeLuca All Dynabrades are good ahd have a nice orbit, wouldn't have a clue on model numbers or orbit size. This one looks good www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-GENUINE-DYNABRADE-RANDOM-ORBITAL-SANDER-6-152mm-CENTRAL-VACUUM-PART-D21019-/321794935039?hash=item4aec7908ff
Hi m8. great job, as always. What clear base did you use to add the candy to? Is there any clear base from Standox? Because I searched their catalogue and didn't find any. Thank you!
I sprayed a similar colour a few weeks ago and cause of amount of paint i need to spray on the panels to get the colour right I had issues with sink back and it delling off pretty bad which required a lot of polishing to bring the gloss back, have u had any similar problems like that if so any tips to avoid it from happening again
I love your vids.........have watched them all........but you mainly spray 2 pak, I like to work with acrylic but have ALOT of trouble trying to blend clear.......is there a way I can stop the edge line?
Thanks for watching mate, To be honest acrylic is even a bit before my time. We did use it at trade school a few times but not that much although i do know they had some blending agents that they used to put over the entire panel first then paint over. I am uploading a Spot Repair video soon but its using 2k. Sorry I couldn't be much more help man.
hey gunman love your stuff.. you said for clear. 25psi. so its a HVLP. but you said use a normal hi pressure cap? im a noob. plz explain
i have a 2016 mazda 3 astina in this color i was told by a paint supplier that u have to mix 9grams of the transparent red in the clear he says its the perfect mix to get the color perfect is that right
fords paint code RR is a fun one to do too
Hi there how comes you have the top cap open on the gravity cup when spraying ? Is this how it’s meant to be done ? I always leave closed
this color in waterbase hi tech / stando blue is good
Thanks mate, I have a mini gun, but I have dedicated it to waterbased base coat. I think I'll close the fan like you said. Is it best to set the pressure, then fan then fluid?
Thanks again, I'll do a little vid of it when finished
Looking forward to seeing it finished, You should set Fluid #1 Fan #2 and Pressure #3 as changing the fan size will alter the pressure, Good luck man :-)
Love the colour!
Great tutorial thanks.
Finally found the super C compound. Very hard to find, ordered it in and will let you know how it goes.
Yeah its a real nice colour hey, I think you'll like the Super C but let us know.
Missus wants me to paint her car in that colour haha.
Never painted candy paint before. Lots and lots of layers. Means more dust!
Whats the best way to remove acid etching (water marks/ calcium build up) on black paint work. Other then wet sanding bonnet, roof and boot.
Sometimes you just have to re paint if it won't buff up.
This is a great video! Does 41v soul red is really bad like 46v Soul red Crystal like people are saying ??? I want to buy a 2015 Mazda 6 Soul red. The paint looks really good but not sure if will give me head aches in my hand.
Quick question...... I want to get my motorcycle sprayed, and in the video at 5 minutes after your third coat of brown is exactly what I'm looking for!
How could I achieve this?
Videos are excellent by the way 👍
Hey gunman i have spray some parts with that candy color but seens it don’t want to dry any ideas
What tip are you using for the candy and psi? If you don’t mind
you working that trilogy to number 1
+its nunya business 😆
Will the Mazda 46g spray method?
Back in Barbados i just did a seminar with sikkens candy it is only on the Mazda.
How to mix the pearl only? am asking because if I mix with slow thinner it not dry fast like the paint
I painted my bumper with 41v and with a 1251 Metallic base coat , but in the end the bumper ended up coming out a lot darker than it was meant to,does anyone have any advice on how I could lighten up the colour a little bit ?
And here i am, smashing these panels even in 46v in 20-25 mins...Joys of working in a pos insurance shop....if i took an hour on a bar i'd be told not to bother coming in lol.
I would like to learn how to paint someday.
How long do candy paints last, i guess from the manufacturer they last long but say like a house of kolor candy paint job.
Also theres the candys that arent true candys, candy graphic bases, how long do they last, ive read candys dont last as long so im affraid to paint my car candy red.
Thx
Hi Gunma. I have seen all of your videos and you are very good. But please upload a video with a fully full repair. From the day that car come to bodyshop until the day it leaves.. Of course with all steps... Pull out dents body filler primer painting everything.
Thanks, And I'm sorry I don't really have the option to do much of that because I am employed as a Spray Painter so I cant just wander off and start repairing cars just so I can make a video, The closest to that kind of thing would be my XF race car videos, Although I am capable of doing repairs and welding its just not my first trade so I'm worth more to my boss in the Paintshop, Sorry I couldn't be much more help and thanks for watching.
Good video! Like ;)
Thanks
Like from Russia
Should you always remove masking tape when the paint is wet?
If I put that clear on that heavy it would of course run. We use lesonal premium which is from the same company that makes sikkens with a 5/3/1 mix ratio. Any tips on getting in on nice and flat in that mix?
I have never used that clear so without knowing the viscosity and how it sprays its hard to give accurate tips, I'm posting a vid next week on how to use a viscosity cup so maybe that will be able to help you
First of all awesome vid ! Keep me coming :)
Also, I sometimes see this colour referred to as 46v as well. What’s the difference between 41v and 46v ?
46v has alu pigments in it..more difficult color to paint:)
You said you would put annotation regarding candy paint.. whatbtints I need to get that candy coat. My painter just painted base coat and mettallic finish and clear coat. No candy ! I am stuck with a yuck paint.
Which is The exact base color and red color to paint the Mazda 3? it takes pearl dust in the red color and what pearl color?
what color i need to mix to get matte red?
love that color ! want some interior trim soul red (candy) but seems like a mission impossible for a DIY'er?!
do you think I could go for it or deff leave it to a paint shop with candy experience?
Get it in Cromax, it's not a hard candy to paint.
cromax is a brand right?
i need to spray accordingly;
1. primer
2. base coat red
3. candy red?
(sorry for noobys questions, and I will be using spray cans)
what color coat base and candy do i need?
hoped it was 41V 1 layer
Freek Gemmeke Cromax is a brand formerly known as DuPont I guess they may be able to put it in a spray can for you. Talk to the local Axalta/Cromax dealer and they'll point you in the right direction as far as getting the base and candy, they mah have a UV clear in aerosol too.
the paint color code what is the Rica I can not
Ok so did the engine bag today, hit it with wet on wet primer, then the base metalic silver, I did get a run and a sag :(
I'll sand this out tommorow then 1 more coat of base.
I'm using my mini gun which is working well, although it's so tight behind the strut towers that all I can get down, is a dry coat as I'm having to dust it on by flicking it
Sounds annoying, these kind of jobs can be quite tricky. Good luck man :-)
Hey gunman great video as always! Do you use a wall regulator or do you only use the regulator on the gun?
I set the reg on the wall to max then adjust on the reg at the gun
Hi Gunman.....i was wondering if u could spray a front bumper for me. Same color & same car model and ship it to Malaysia..how much will it cost?
Kandy Rango red what do I base with r247
I really love this color but ... can not afford a 3 stage(candy) paint. What would be equivalent to this color in a 2 stage ? Plz help I’m restoring my Dads 77’ Chevy Stepside (original owner)
