    As an experienced mechanic you cannot hurt the battery by washing it. If anything it's a good thing to wash off any residual acid and dirt that may build up on it. I have no problem with washing down an engine bay. I don't even cover the ignition system or the alternator. I will even clean them but will not put heavy pressure on those two items. Never had a problem. Ignitions, alternators, and computers I just lightly glance over with the pressure washer.

      Terrible advice. Electronic components need to be protected and water should never touch the top of the engine. The coils and spark plugs are extremely sensitive to moisture. Do not spray your engine down with a pressure washer. Just clean it by hand with a towel and scrub brush. Thank me later. Compressor will help remove anything !

    • @frankc1430
      @frankc1430 Год назад +36

      @@jaw707 You are absolutely wrong! Cars nowadays are very waterproof with their connections. They use a lot of whether packs on their connections. These cars are not 1960s and 70s. Like I said, I don't put extreme pressure on electronic components. I will glance over them. I've been doing it for years without any issues. All the electronics are sealed in silicone. If you have water getting in than you have other problems.

      I would probably not wet my car battery just to be safe but I do cover it with a rag and take off all the dust with a brush then spray water inside the hood but not so much. Next you just wipe down all what’s wet and apply your product evenly and then yes dry it all off

    • @frankc1430
      @frankc1430 Год назад +17

      @@LuisGonzalez-zz1bn Why? You can douse that battery all you want and it wont do anything. It's DC. You can't hurt that battery. I've cleaned more batteries with baking soda and water then I can think of. The battery is filled with water. Only things I would spray lightly over is the alternator because it's vented and ignition coils and computers. They are all sealed pretty well but I wouldn't put any heavy pressure on them.
