I've been driving SAGA MC1 for about 8 months. Apart from the malfunction infotainment on the 6th month, everything else is superb by far. The best budget vehicle. No complaints.
Looking forward to getting this one - been working in Malaysia for 11 Years now (I'm from the Philippines) and this will be my first ever car here if ever!!! Thank you for this awesome review good sir!
They could have bundle 2019,2021,2022 facelift of Persona, Iriz and Saga into one facelift and it would make one awesome upgrade, its so frustrating that proton kept adding bits and pieces every 2-3 years. This Saga facelift is still missed the mark, though its a budget car but the driver is the most important and not to have a proper steering adjust and driver seat adjustment is really a let down. As this car is used most for e-hailing, the driver would be sitting in a not so comfortable position the whole day.
Price increase of 1.5-2k is justified because lower spec now gets ESC, a redesigned center stack and the new Premium S is fairly priced too when you compare with the Bezza X.
Nah as the owner of one,id say this one look more premium bar that rims..this one included push start,keyless,autofold,leatheratte seats and stering,rework ac control..worth that 5k price jump..oh and that included front splitter and side skirt
Honestly the changes are quite petty bordering to non existent but still a welcome update. However one thing that I like to point out is the sincerity of the reviewer in putting forward almost all the drawbacks of this iteration. A very much unbiased review in which I really appreciate and thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.
bru dapat memiliki saga jet grey manual(usia bru 6 minggu), last2 mc2 keluar da. nasib x beza sangat 🤣 so far mmg puas hati dgn keta ni. sbb da pernah drive bezza , city hatchback 2022. saga juga yg senyap, enjin langsung x dgr kalau on radio (wlaupun honda tu getah sound insulation lagi byk) minyak pun jimat kalau bawa biasa2. naik honda enjin dia bising rasa kasar, bezza lgi padu bising enjinnya 🤣 impress dkt sni walaupun enjin campro ni dri zaman 2006 , byk improvement. suspension pun padu dan bila lalu jalan tidak rata dia senyap tak mcm semua kereta perodua yg spring standard tp keras mcm sport spring. lgi 1, byk org tak perasan perodua cut cost dgn menggunakan disc brake yg kecil. sbb tu la byk owner perodua mengadu, disc x tahan cepat overheat & bengkok lepas jauh atau jalan yg sgt curam. ada yg kata saga tak cun takda lampu led , arm rest & etc. bgi saya tu semua accessories murah2 ja tu. org byk tgk dri segi exterior , tpi x perhati mechanical parts sesebuah kereta tersebut 🤣 senang cerita, mmg proton = bmw murahan versi malaysia (dri segi pemanduan & kesenyapan) ok lah utk kereta harga entry level , maybe byk org tak perasan sbb rata2 semua tgk exterior & interior looks saja

@@theaslamm jgn ambil yg cvt, sbb teknologi cvt ni msih belum matang mcm auto. x lasak. exora 1st model dulu launch 2009 sya pakai sampai skg, selalu buat jalan jauh. enjin pula berat sbb n/a so mmg belasah habis enjin tu. blik kg jalan 700km singgah kejap kejap tiap tahun, semua oke disc pun tahun ke brp baru bengkok. pastu ada myvi beli 2019, tak silap bru 2 3 tahun disc da bengkok. x sesuai long distance yg ada curam2, so ikut pengalaman sya pakai proton exora, rasanya saga oky je janji follow schedule servis
Aku Ada saga FLX campro 2004 manual transmission... Sampai sekarang tiada masalah Yang penting service sentiasa on Dan guna part original .. tiada apa apa upgrade enjin sistem, suspension... Semua Masih standard siap blh potong brand Toyota n honda Di Japan Raya 😂😂😂😂

Overall the Saga hasn't grown much in terms of features and design, as well as finishing, but will still be one of the entry level choice for university students to pick. The added stability assist is one very important feature to have.
Frankly speaking, the MC1 Premium Saga would just about yield all my needed check boxes compared to the MC2 which I think has lots a unnecessary Red bits for me.....
What I find still weird is that they only gave the Premium versions back seat pockets. Why? Since when back seat pockets were considered a "premium" feature? Other than that, very good, quality and fun budget car abd a great first car.

That's our proton's problem, too much dependent toward other car makers until they only know to do minor changes to their own product. I'm wondering were there a group of kindergarten kid who design proton cars since they just know to play with colours and not the quality for their cars. How could they missed the B pillars with different colours to their roof lining and very unergonomically positioned push start button😴.

Good handling . Electronic stability control traction control anti lock braking system Airbags electronic brake force distribution. Thats all you need for safety features. Not everyone wants to pay extra 8 k for Auto braking which are usually for bad drivers who cant pay attention to the road . Some drivers like to be in full control of the vehicle they are driving without any assistance from the electronics
At least Proton should change the LED headlights with sequential signal lights, Armrest with rear air vent, Sharkfin Antenna. sure it will sell like "goreng pisang". It will look more up market and premium compare to the previous version. Not quit like the red accents on the dashboard, prefer brush metal finish just like X50.
I had already book my premium variant.and soon after, there is another S premium came out.which include more advanced features.sadly, its way beyond the normal premium.im pretty pissed off with proton till this moment.this isnt a launching or whatever.they should said that they launch a new proton saga new range topping variant.this waiting time is killing me.
I own the Saga BLM 2008. Looking at 2022 model, no different. Crystal headlight with halogen bulb while Myvi is already on LED headlight. Push start is old tech already. Selling the same chasis since 2008, I expected a lot more development. Very disappointing. Moving to Perodua for my next daily driver.
Better nvh in saga. Better stability at high speed. Definitely alot improvement over the blm. Even alot better than flx. Smooth hyundai gearbox. Chasis is good anyways. Looks better too Also all auto model have esc abs ebd tc.
Bro, even saga still using the same old chassis, the comfort is far more better than myvi. The NVH, road absorbtion FAR more better. Even the engine noise is more quiter than honda city 2022/perodua(turn on the radio & you will hear nothing. Myvi? Stupid car ever made. How can the rear tyre are so noisy especially during rain ? Its like the rear part of the car is only plastic+no sound insulation. Even my old kancil doesnt have tht problem. The stock suspension on all perodua cars also rough/harsh. Really bad at absorbing speed bump @ uneven roads. Even my old kancil with sport spring are more softer at absorbing bump than myvi stock suspension. I know this cuz i have myvi also. Really unsatisfied. Discbrake also manja cepat bengkok considering how new this car is compared to my old proton. Dont look down on this saga, cuz if you drive this and then you drive honda city, it will only make you think that the honda engine seems harsh.

so far for me i have no issue with this saga mc1 previous model..even with old technology atleast i feels not so much headache with saga maintenance even bezza are fully loaded high tech with the Asa, start stop engine with costly add up more than 100+ battery to change..my friend just had minor accident new bezza and to change LED lamp need almost 1k even it can be insured claimable but feels like not worth to pay back full ncd…please Proton Management or Drb CEO’s we dont want Geely rebadge we need our own locally in-house design saga and i dont think proton are making profit by rebadging we still give money to china…please proven Saga, remarkable as bullet proof proton cars and suit with Asian market not china market…
Okay this is my only opinions about this new 2022 proton Saga: Proton, if you could make a futuristic car to compete with other big brands. You have to think outside of the box. First: The design of the car on the proton are the same since 2019 - 2022. Plus, the shape of the car is a bit “square” and tall a bit. I don’t like this type of design because it can easily flip the car when we take u-turn on the roundabout. My suggestion for future improvements would be please make the body wide just like the Japanese car brand do. Second: Why still using 15 inch wheels? Why you guys so afraid taking risk to try 18 inch wheels for the car? This is to dangerous especially in Sarawak, our road in sarawak are not good because there is a lot of holes and tiny mountains on the roads. If you guys can compare between big wheels car, the driving experiences are not the same. Small wheels create turbulence while driving but big wheels car don’t. Third: Change the headlamps. I was so frustrated to see this kind of headlamps for years and years. It never changed. Please change to new design. Side advice: Proton, if you want to compete with the big dogs, you have to think differently and unique. Don’t be afraid to take risk to create new car. Even tho you guys cut so much cost for the car but that’s alright because there will always a plan B. We, Malaysian will always support your brand and you are our hope in the future of Malaysia Automotive. -Prince
You must bear in mind the market for this car is for those who have limited budget so the price must be maintained low. 1. The same design is bcos to save cost, every changes in structural design proton have to send for testing and safety certification and it will increase the cost 2. 15" wheels..again bcos of cost and target market. please compare the price for 15" and 18" wheel 3. There are many aftermatket headlamps design sold in shopee/lazada, you can buy and ask accesories shop to install for you Conclusion: Saga is mainly targeted for customer with limited budget. if you want more you have to look at another model or brand
Well it is a more stable car compared to competitors and it has a lower center of gravity compared to the other ones. It will not flip. Drove so many hours in this car . The handling and stability is very good. Comparable to B segments. With esc and traction control, if the car flip, blame the driver. Never flipped cars before driving for 10 years.

bro, you are the one who doesnt see where this car shines. considering the price, even the engine is old tech, the engine is far more quiter than honda city(it will make you think that the honda engine seems more rough), suspension is far more comfort than japan brand, feels like the road is good but the reality is saga is good at absorbing uneven roads. and since the engine is 1.3, what make you think it is better to change to a bigger rim? bigger rim later org bising the fuel consumption is high. this car is only entry level only, aim for affordable car. plus, perodua had done a good job on fooling people, the suspension is super bad at absorbing bump(feel like use sport spring), even my old kancil with sport spring installed are more softer when absorbing speed bump, bad nvh (especially during rain, you can hear the tyre noise CLEARLY at the rear part of the car, my kancil also better than this). I know bcz i have these 3 cars. buy myvi due to its looks. rm50k+. high spec punya. bezza? i dont know but its more cheaper than myvi so i think its even more worse. for the headlamp, for me it is just aksesori bodo2 je. benda boleh tambah. keta pun murah, nak expect apa.
Proton is our national brand.. Before🙄.... And they performed successfully with those r3 specs, etc and people were going insane towards proton product. But now, sorry to say it's just a team of not better than kindergarten kid who always wait for other car makers rebadge and features and keep on playing with colours.
Good drivers dont need ASA. Just good handling and stability , esc abs ebd and tc will do . It has better seats too .rather not depend on the car to brake for me. Practice safe distance when driving is more important than waiting for the car to brake for you.
3 years of refinement only add skirting and an already existing features from their big brother....at least redesign the dashboard and center console to look a bit more modernize than the 14 years old Saga BLM design.
I honestly feel Atlas OS is overrated. Just give me Android Auto and/or Carplay and I'm happy. Heck, even a cheap chinese knock off head unit can support AA and Carplay, why not Proton?

Used to do e hailing for 13 hours per day in the saga. Definitely more comfortable than other a segment cars i owned before.

Perhaps these changes were offer too late, but Malaysian mentality better late than never. Those new 15" wheels felt like revolution from 2016 models.

I own the Saga BLM 2008. Looking at 2022 model, no different. Crystal headlight with halogen bulb while Myvi is already on LED headlight. Push start is old tech already. Selling the same chasis since 2008, I expected a lot more development. Very disappointing. Moving to Perodua for my next daily driver.
Better nvh in saga. Better stability at high speed. Definitely alot improvement over the blm. Even alot better than flx. Smooth hyundai gearbox. Chasis is good anyways. Looks better too
Also all auto model have esc abs ebd tc.
Bro, even saga still using the same old chassis, the comfort is far more better than myvi. The NVH, road absorbtion FAR more better. Even the engine noise is more quiter than honda city 2022/perodua(turn on the radio & you will hear nothing. Myvi? Stupid car ever made. How can the rear tyre are so noisy especially during rain ? Its like the rear part of the car is only plastic+no sound insulation. Even my old kancil doesnt have tht problem. The stock suspension on all perodua cars also rough/harsh. Really bad at absorbing speed bump @ uneven roads. Even my old kancil with sport spring are more softer at absorbing bump than myvi stock suspension. I know this cuz i have myvi also. Really unsatisfied. Discbrake also manja cepat bengkok considering how new this car is compared to my old proton. Dont look down on this saga, cuz if you drive this and then you drive honda city, it will only make you think that the honda engine seems harsh.

so far for me i have no issue with this saga mc1 previous model..even with old technology atleast i feels not so much headache with saga maintenance even bezza are fully loaded high tech with the Asa, start stop engine with costly add up more than 100+ battery to change..my friend just had minor accident new bezza and to change LED lamp need almost 1k even it can be insured claimable but feels like not worth to pay back full ncd…please Proton Management or Drb CEO’s we dont want Geely rebadge we need our own locally in-house design saga and i dont think proton are making profit by rebadging we still give money to china…please proven Saga, remarkable as bullet proof proton cars and suit with Asian market not china market…

Okay this is my only opinions about this new 2022 proton Saga:
Proton, if you could make a futuristic car to compete with other big brands. You have to think outside of the box.
First: The design of the car on the proton are the same since 2019 - 2022. Plus, the shape of the car is a bit “square” and tall a bit. I don’t like this type of design because it can easily flip the car when we take u-turn on the roundabout. My suggestion for future improvements would be please make the body wide just like the Japanese car brand do.
Second: Why still using 15 inch wheels? Why you guys so afraid taking risk to try 18 inch wheels for the car? This is to dangerous especially in Sarawak, our road in sarawak are not good because there is a lot of holes and tiny mountains on the roads. If you guys can compare between big wheels car, the driving experiences are not the same. Small wheels create turbulence while driving but big wheels car don’t.
Third: Change the headlamps. I was so frustrated to see this kind of headlamps for years and years. It never changed. Please change to new design.
Side advice: Proton, if you want to compete with the big dogs, you have to think differently and unique. Don’t be afraid to take risk to create new car. Even tho you guys cut so much cost for the car but that’s alright because there will always a plan B. We, Malaysian will always support your brand and you are our hope in the future of Malaysia Automotive.

You must bear in mind the market for this car is for those who have limited budget so the price must be maintained low.
1. The same design is bcos to save cost, every changes in structural design proton have to send for testing and safety certification and it will increase the cost
2. 15" wheels..again bcos of cost and target market. please compare the price for 15" and 18" wheel
3. There are many aftermatket headlamps design sold in shopee/lazada, you can buy and ask accesories shop to install for you
Conclusion: Saga is mainly targeted for customer with limited budget. if you want more you have to look at another model or brand
Well it is a more stable car compared to competitors and it has a lower center of gravity compared to the other ones. It will not flip. Drove so many hours in this car . The handling and stability is very good. Comparable to B segments.
With esc and traction control, if the car flip, blame the driver. Never flipped cars before driving for 10 years.

Why can proton improve their design of the car just like perodua. Damn, perodua iss way ahead of proton. I still love proton because of the handling and the safety features that they offered.
bro, you are the one who doesnt see where this car shines. considering the price, even the engine is old tech, the engine is far more quiter than honda city(it will make you think that the honda engine seems more rough), suspension is far more comfort than japan brand, feels like the road is good but the reality is saga is good at absorbing uneven roads. and since the engine is 1.3, what make you think it is better to change to a bigger rim? bigger rim later org bising the fuel consumption is high. this car is only entry level only, aim for affordable car. plus, perodua had done a good job on fooling people, the suspension is super bad at absorbing bump(feel like use sport spring), even my old kancil with sport spring installed are more softer when absorbing speed bump, bad nvh (especially during rain, you can hear the tyre noise CLEARLY at the rear part of the car, my kancil also better than this). I know bcz i have these 3 cars. buy myvi due to its looks. rm50k+. high spec punya. bezza? i dont know but its more cheaper than myvi so i think its even more worse. for the headlamp, for me it is just aksesori bodo2 je. benda boleh tambah. keta pun murah, nak expect apa.
Why called facelift? just called it updated 2022
Proton is our national brand.. Before🙄.... And they performed successfully with those r3 specs, etc and people were going insane towards proton product. But now, sorry to say it's just a team of not better than kindergarten kid who always wait for other car makers rebadge and features and keep on playing with colours.

Good drivers dont need ASA. Just good handling and stability , esc abs ebd and tc will do . It has better seats too .rather not depend on the car to brake for me. Practice safe distance when driving is more important than waiting for the car to brake for you.

3 years of refinement only add skirting and an already existing features from their big brother....at least redesign the dashboard and center console to look a bit more modernize than the 14 years old Saga BLM design.

I honestly feel Atlas OS is overrated. Just give me Android Auto and/or Carplay and I'm happy. Heck, even a cheap chinese knock off head unit can support AA and Carplay, why not Proton?
