Right off the bat, she came after my faux flowers and wreaths. 😂 I can’t give them up though, the colors make me so happy and they’re considerate of my allergies. 😆
Other than the great decorating advice, can I just comment on the total Vibe you guys have with each other! You guys are so cute, and the way your husband looks at you so adoringly is a total vibe! 💖
I agree!! My husband was like it's weird and I was like, no, it's awesome and it simply makes sense to look at the person who is talking while you listen to them! So cute!
@@BizBrew I agree, most people look at someone when they’re talking. I will say though that Jack is sweeter to Val than she is to him. 😬 He’s very patient. 😉
@@whiskersBOOSTER2 For sure, it's similar to yin and yang. I forget which video it was but she was talking about the vases they had displayed and one was black and prickly and they other was kinda creamy and a fun texture and she said it was just like them, lol. I thought it was fun way to describe themselves.
I understand what your saying about faux flowers! But I work with the elderly, and they really love the faux flowers to decorate with because it brings them joy and easier to take care of.
Whenever Jack is with you at the beginning of your videos I always think he has a ponytail because the lamp behind his head is in the perfect spot for it
I’m a grandma of 16 and I love decorating my beautiful home for Easter. I want them to have fun memories of holidays at Grandma’s. I do put the bunnies and chicks away after Easter.😀
Hi from the Netherlands! Wreaths on the door here only for Christmas, and....we do not have faux flowers, because we have the natural here enough! But....I just bought the faux olive tree from Ikea, for the bedroom and I think it's lovely ;-)
Most of my life (50 years) in the US (New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston), wreaths were only used at Christmas. Then they started creeping into the holiday the month prior (in the US, it's called Thanksgiving, the 4th Thursday in November). Then it started showing up at Easter. Now some (not all) parts of the US have them year round, especially in the south where Valentina lives. This trend was mostly in the southern states of the US (Texas, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas), and mostly at craft stores where you had to make them yourself, but over the decades the idea spread to the mid-western US, then larger retailers caught on and now they are sold everywhere all year long. This is still most prevalent in the southern US states, though, and when people from the southern US move to larger cities, they take that southern trend with them a lot of the time. Now IKEA sells them in/around San Francisco (I was just there last week, and they had several). IKEA was not selling them back in the 90s (at least not around New York City and not in Los Angeles in the early 2000s).
I have a wreath on both of the outside doors of my home. I make my wreaths and I change them out seasonal. My flowers, stems, bushes, etc come from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Jo Ann's, etc. The door wreath adds to the curb appeal and brightens up my doors. I live in Louisiana and the weather definitely gets hot here. So for the outdoor candles, instead of wax candles, I purchase those made of plastic (with timers) so they will not melt. Inside my, home I have a combination of both.
I love your design style and advice. I also think it's okay to have pieces that aren't 100% with your aesthetic if they make you happy. If bunnies for spring make you happy, bring on the bunnies.
Don’t touch the bunny invasion!! In the spring, a house is not a home without some bunnies. How can we have Easter spirit without some bunnies holding candy dishes, bunnies emblazoned on tea towels, table cloths, pillows and dare I say wall art! I refuse to let go of my bunnies! Lol 🐰 🐇 🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇
@@baileydiesel6302 Well.. In the US Easter is celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, isn't? And all those bunnies, eggs, and chicks have pagan origin. So stop decorating with them because they have nothing to do with Jesus resurrection.
💯 disagree with the bunny comment! Reason being that bunnies are a part of my home decor all year round 😄 they're a reflection of my personality. I have a four pound Holland lop who has an annual Christmas and Easter card even. Spring is time to be a little bit "extra" for me. My wedding shower coming up is bunny themed 😁
Yes, she totally lost me with the bunny comment. I don’t decorate buying in target, pottery barn or ikea. We embrace vintage items from family or antique stores.
I’m thankful it’s warming up where you are, once our snow melts I will lighten our spaces as well. Great advice, I used to follow your tips to the letter. Now that I am a Grandmother of toddlers; it’s fun to add a few touches of whimsy for young eyes. To me, the joy on these little ones faces makes it worth it. They are also part of the family and I want them to feel welcome at Grandma’s house. This is part of making a warm welcoming home for everyone. To clarify, my whimsy is a few real bird nests with a few real looking faux eggs tucked in some of my real plants. I am specific about the placement of these items to be sure little eyes see them carefully tucked. These are located in specific locations ... my entry console, the kitchen table, and by the front door. Classic decor never goes out of style, is timeless, and very cost effective long term. If I didn’t have little Grandchildren I wouldn’t do these touches of whimsy. I enjoy your channel, thanks for keeping us in ‘check.’
I like these tips. Especially bringing in the essence of spring instead of what retailers may market as the “look” of spring (i.e. bunnies, chicks, etc). I enjoy opening windows, hearing nature , and the scents of linen, new life, and clean. Tfs!
I think for the most part, you are completely right! I love all your tips btw. But I have an old copy of The Velveteen Rabbit I like to display during Easter. I also have straw vintage looking rabbits but only display them in one room (dining room) of the house. I don’t think every room needs to scream Easter but I think little vintage/antique touches can really make your home special. At least for me :) love you guys
Lots of wreaths in 🇨🇦! EGGS! 😂 How could you guys forget eggs!? lol bunnies and chicks and I'm yelling eggs! eggs! at my phone haha ♥️ another great video!
I love the “changing scents” tip, but instead of only using candles (which may have toxic fragrances) I also use a diffuser with natural essential oils. There are so many great companies to purchase from! Just be careful choosing scents if you have pets, because certain essential oils are toxic to pets. 🌸
I have been looking at where items originally are made. Target has most of the products coming from China. Given what is happening in the world today. I’m going to be looking more carefully and trying to purchase a product Made in the USA.
I don't hate the "no kitschy decor" tip; there's plenty of room to make it feel fresh and like spring, without using bunnies and chicks everywhere! I like to bring in A seasonal towel with a twist. For example, my MIL bought me a custom made painted cotton/linen dish towel with a rooster on it. That's my Easter towel, and I think it's my subtle touch of Easter without going nuts. I also have a crystal bowl that holds these cool painted Ukrainian eggs we used in egg hunts, in the spring, and Halloween candy for fall, Christmas ornaments at Christmas, etc... I love the tips to lighten the house for the season, and will be switching out my pillows in the next week!
In NJ, I only hung a wreath for Christmas but when I moved south, I loved the idea of getting a new wreath for each season. Doors seem naked without one to me now. I usually get wreaths with just greenery and little to no faux flowers.
Spring, especially Easter is the time of renewal, new life, color! The photos demonstrating the way "should" decorate were for the most part devoid of life & color, in fact quite dreary. I love bunnies, I grew up with rabbits as pets, I always have some bunny decor even if only garden statues outside. I love all things Beatrix Potter. I almost enjoy decorating at Easter more than Christmas. I have collected the Williams Sonoma alabaster eggs over many years, I have a vintage looking paper mache rabbit & chick, felt carrot garlands to name a few of the items that will bring life to my neutral family room very soon. I get not buying holiday soap pumps & shower curtains & avoiding a lot of the cheap & tacky items that do come out in the stores every holiday but I would argue that there are sophisticated items to be found, like your bunny jelly bean dish. We need some color & joy, especially after the darkness of the last couple of years. I can't spend the money to change out the big pieces as you so often do, so I invest in quality, neutral & sophisticated pieces which serve as a backdrop for the decorative items to be changed out seasonally, including holiday specific decor...like bunnies! #lovethebunnies
Oh man. I am so guilty of putting out bunnies and other themed items. I was doing it for our son, but now that he's 14 I think it's time to stop. I'm looking forward to your suggestions! Thank you for your informative, yet entertaining videos. I love that you include your husband for the layman's perspective. Lol
Please don’t misunderstand. I think you are brilliant and love your design so much!! You are one of my favorite designers and look to you for so much advise! That’s said…You were so right… Easter holiday decor… controversial 🤭 When I see bunnies and chicks, I think Easter holiday….not Spring as a whole. Some people enjoy decorating for holidays. Easter decor is a mistake only if the person doesn’t feel it’s worth the effort. I mean It’s not a major holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas. But, throwing up pumpkins and gourds and dying foliage everywhere for Fall, outlining every stair case and arch with garland and lights, putting a huge tree in every room stuffed with shiny bobbles and even more lights is considered so chic, and stays up for the entire Fall/Winter months! But rabbits and birds for Easter holiday in the Spring… not so much?? I think any holiday can be presented in an modern understated elegant way, without being “kitschy”. Makes me sad, I guess there is no possible way to decorate for Easter using traditional symbols in a sophisticated way, and heaven forbid you leave it out through Spring. Fall and Winter are now the only seasons with holidays acceptable for decorating with traditional holiday symbols associated with customs and traditions, all 👏🏼season 👏🏼long. I think if someone felt Easter was worth the effort, they could find a way to make it happen in a understated modern and elegant way.
I totally agree with you, and also you said Easter is not such a big holiday like Christmas or thanksgiving…well only from a marketing point of view, as an actual holiday for the Catholics for example, it’s their biggest holiday, so I can understand why they want to decorate with more traditional items.
Many of us decorate for Easter, and it may be up only one or two weeks. It’s usually not permanent that you live up your Easter chicks and bunnies. Maybe you could have a show on Easter because I think you’re not recognizing that that’s really part of the bunny and chick things being out. All your round I have a beautiful majolica cabbage piece with a little bunny at the top that I leave out. I have a cast iron standing rabbit, and a few, very tasteful others. As I love bunnies, but after Easter take most of the Easter things down.
I disagree on numerous points. I have found amazing faux flowers and greenery. I do a mix of real and faux. I don’t care for most of kitchy spring stuff but don’t mind a nice neutral bunny. 😂
I mean if you love your dark wall as a staple but want to just play with an accent for a season, they do have peel and stick wall paper paint (they have plain paint colors on one site I found)! No mess or commitment! PS I love how enamored your husband is with you! You two are so adorable!!! 💗 #goals
*Kitsch* . Thank you for saying "NO" this. I live in Upstate NY. Today it's 65 and sunny, tomorrow might be 35. I have been slowly re-freshing my spaces with lighter textiles and re-styling shelves. All the evergreens are currently awaiting a bin. I went with a faded denim blue for my spring color pop in my dining room. I need to find a few accessories to "marry" the living room and kitchen along with it. A few pillows, throws and a vase should do it.
I don’t change out my decor seasonally. It probably looks very fall/wintery in my home all year long. I like chocolate brown orange green. My couch is velvet and I don’t slip cover it. My main signal to celebrate new season is fresh flowers. I bought some very fragrant lillies. I also keep the same candles which are more woodsy like pall santo all year long. It’s what I like regardless of the season. I’m all for replacing things that are tattered but not switching out per se. Great vid!
I agree with everything!!! You two are the absolute best!!!!! Your chemistry is off the charts! We can't get enough of your videos. We learn so much, love watching you & Jack and we enjoy immensely!
I’m so jealous that it’s spring there. I’m in Alberta, Canada and it was -26C the other day. It also snowed for 3-4 days and over 6” of snow in one day. Le sigh! I always have a wreath on my door. It just adds some green and gives more of a welcome. Love your channel 🥰
LOL! I’m sitting in my living room watching your video tonight, eating starburst jellybeans!! And you said that! I was ROTFLOL 😂😂😂. They are my favorite. I look forward to them every year 😂😂🙏🏾
Growing up in the 50’s, I remember how the slip covers, rugs, and curtains were all changed for spring and winter. The furniture companies sold the furniture with the change of season slip covers. But we also didn’t have air conditioning yet so everything was lightened up.
I agree! I switch out pillow covers, bedding and faux green trees for the seasons as well. I live Upstate NY and I only use fresh green wreaths at Christmas; leaving them up until Valentines Day. I use a diffuser for home fragrances. Easy to switch the scent of your home and much healthier than candles and plug ins. You two are so cute together. Love your excitement!♥️
Your son is so sweet! Our home remodel is almost done and I’m so excited….because you have so inspired me and given me such good advise and steered me away so many bad thing that I just didn’t know what I was doing 😂 love your channel, your laughter, your fun and wonderful advice. Love to you all from Florida 😘
I can understand your position on faux flowers. However, I have three cats and have to be so careful to buy flowers that are not toxic; they always try to eat any fresh flower! I have just resigned myself to using faux flowers occasionally. On the wreath issue - I recently moved to Chattanooga, TN from California - where I always had a seasonal wreath. I believe half of my new neighbors have wreaths, half do not.
Copy..double down on the pastels, bunnies, chicks and throw in a wreath full of Easter eggs for good measure ;) Spring has ARRIVED! Thank you for this fun video! Totally took me back- my mom had all kinds of porcelain bunny figurines. To my dismay, those suckers survived a couple of strong California quakes! LOL Bless my mama's Spring loving heart!
I concur! I’m not big on the bunnies and chicks, especially in all the jelly bean colors. I do add a couple jute bunnies for Easter celebration as we have an 11 year old and three grandkids under four. It’s so funny you did this video. We just tucked away the pine cones and I’m having a hard time finding something that looks tasteful to add to the table. I usually add something to a white tray on the table runner so it’s easily removed when needed. Oh! I just have to say, HOLY CATS, YOUR ARMS LOOK AMAZING! 🤩🤩
My mom wouldn't put a wreath on our door because when she was growing up in the south, a wreath meant someone had passed away in the home. So we never had one on our door.
🎼 “He stopped loving her today…they placed a wreath upon his dooooorr 🎵 soon they’ll carry him awaaaaayyy 🎶 he stopped loving her… todayyyyy~” Remember George Jones? 🥰
ADORE your content and your lovely family. And YES to keeping the bunnies and chicks outdoors and not inside...though if those items make one smile then why not. I love the idea of changing out scents, textures, and colors...all very subtle and inexpensive changes...but can bring such a fresh and spring-like perspective to our homes. Thank you for your fabulous channel. You and Jack are my treat I enjoy as I work out on my elliptical. :) Happy almost spring (though...may I point out...that here in Wisconsin we have snow, ice, and cold...and spring seems miles off! ) Its so fun to look forward to!
I've done all mentioned for years so feel pretty ahead of the curve. Been doing pillow covers for years and get so excited when it's time to change them. I have tons and it's a lot of fun. Just the other day I mentioned to my mom how often I've painted the inside of our home. For Easter I hand made some quite unique and beautiful eggs of different sizes. They came out really amazing. I host but day after they are put away. I change out my home decor quite frequently and why we have never had a car in our 3 car garage. It's filled with all my seasonal decor items!!! Hubby gave up years ago. Our home is my canvas and I love to create. 😊
When I moved to your area many years ago, I discovered “ Southland in the Springtime” by the Indigo girls and I fell in love with the area and the time of year. Still brings a tear in my eye because the southland in the springtime is magical. Thanks for reminding me. “When god made me a yankee he was teasing’” is a brilliant lyric.
In Serbia we make wreaths from dried flowers for St.John the Baptist day. Those wreaths stand up to all weather conditions till the same day next year.
I kept going back to seasonal area ( at At Home store) looking at the little white porcelain bowl mounted with 2 white porcelain bunnies inside the bowl. So cute! It was all white, but I didn’t buy it. 😊
Very much a Southern thing!! We love our wreaths. Right now I have a wreath of silver dollar with white berries. I added a huge pot of white Verbena by the door this week Love, love, love warmth and flowers everywhere outside.
I’m embarrassed to admit how ignorant I was to changing your decor with the seasons! 😬🤦♀️🤪 I’m with Jack, just used to a home having “a look,” and you change for the holidays. My Sweetie and I just bought a home and I’ll be utilizing this 100% to help keep the Spring vibe light and not clog up our new place with stuff everywhere. It’s like a weight off of my shoulders knowing I can ROTATE the artwork, decor, and color schemes! 🙌🥂 🙏 🏡 🎨
Couldn’t agree more with your advice. Love your insights and experience, your senses of taste, attention to detail, and otherwise overlooked truths some of us didn’t realize until you mentioned them. And don’t be afraid of controversial topics, anything educational that can improve our lives is welcome here. Thank you as always for sharing your truly helpful tips as well as down to earth humor and mutual respect of each other. Enviable by many, adored by all. God bless you guys, and what a darling handsome son as well! ❤️ I’ll be doting on my son when he’s that age I’m sure! 😍 Love and cheers from Garrison, New York.
I learned so much from your example about having 15 Eiffel towers. I will now strive for essense rather than literal! I like my home a lot more themed than Valentina does but there is a way to do that without being too literal, and now I need to really evaluate my spaces and go for essence.
Completely agree! Unfortunately interior designers usually forget to consider that younger kids just love Easter decoration! And I really enjoy making memories with them decorating my home , like my grandmother did with me! But as soon Easter is over, I take everything down. There are so many good taste items ( including bunnies) that we can have for that holiday without ruining the elegance of our house. I hear what she is saying, but I don’t completely agree. In the end, it’s all a matter of taste!
These are really great tips but I'm keeping my front door wreaths lol. I LOVE switching up my scents and have always switched up the bed linens, well, mainly the comforter, shams & duvet. I won't be getting into my new place until probably fall which is okay since that's my most favorite season.
In South Africa we don’t use wreaths on our doors except at Christmas, but even that isn’t popular. Our summer is so hot that even a fake wreath would look “tired” after a week in the sun. I must confess I do have a bunny statue in my home and 2 in the garden. But then my home is more in a transitional style. I love your channel, you both have such amazing energy, and I just love the conversational way you present. 🥰
I am from Brazil, living in the US for 17 years. We use wreaths in Brazil too (at least in the South), and I used to make and sell wreaths there. I personally feel that my door is naked without one, no matter how beautiful the door is. It's a matter of personal taste ;-D
Just came across this video. I have a tall plaid oval metal bucket filled with Spring flowers on my doorstep. I was wondering where I stored my Rabbits are stored when they said , “lose the Bunnies.” Noooo! I love Spring. I don’t overdo it but Bunnies, Easter Eggs and faux flowers will make their seasonal appearance. To each his own in moderation. Not going bare Spring. Easter time brings me joy. I remove bunnies after Easter along w other items. Love the idea of eucalyptus wreath etc. new pillows, too. These young people are so sweet. Thanks for the tips I can embrace!
I love the explanation of the feeling of Paris. That really struck home with me. I know you have expressed that thought before but the example is what spoke to me. Thank you for these great ideas! I'll shop my home and look forward to your next video for additional inspiration. I love the concept of freshening up the home by changing its "wardrobe" for spring!
I can’t believe, you said you hadn’t had coffee! You were so hyper…. Your are right I have start to pull shorts out and short sleeve blouses. Look over my Sandles . Crazy we stayed home cleaned windows wash curtains , pulled weeds out flower beds , wash my dog blankets. We do it as a team, it just goes so fast. Perfect timing on the video. In bed by seven ,leg pain! I like you looked around and thought I am such a lucky girl.
Great video as always guys. ❤️Lovely to see adorable Landon at the end. I love to lighten up my decor for Spring but I have to laugh..this weekend I took your tip from January to paint some items Matt Black..well I went on a roll.. candlesticks, clocks, vases, hardback books!! . was so pleased with myself 🤣 until your tip just now to remove darker pieces.🤦 Still Love you though 😘😘
Ditto! I love to shop thrift and find "ugly ducklings" that have a beautiful shape and spray them black, white, gold, or whatever I need them to be. They always turn out amazing.
I always enjoy your videos!! I have to say though, I have had the same “man-made” tulip wreath for nearly 5 years now and it hangs on our front door that gets pounded by direct sunlight all Spring and it is extremely realistic looking and still looks just as good as the day I purchased it. I think like with most things, you get what you pay for and I feel that that’s made all the difference in the world. There is no way that I could hang anything live (not even eucalyptus, I’ve tried and it’s dry and brittle within days), on my front door, however I want to have something beautiful there year-round. Again I love your videos, however I have to disagree with you on the wreaths I think you can find some extremely realistic man-made florals out there today. I think this is one area in home decor that’s made tremendous strides.
I’m in California. Absolutely no wreaths on my door. Christmas wreaths are the exception for me however I use them inside where you can enjoy them not outside the door. I’m so with you about avoiding “Easter”decor for the entire spring season.
I’m from Connecticut and I did not grow up with a wreath on the door except for during Christmas time. Now that I own my own house, I’m excited to put up wreaths all year round
Your over excitement for all home things makes me so happy lol. Thoughts on wreaths on the door (in the Lake Lanier GA area not far from you 🙂) I love a wreath on the front door if it’s done right - it’s warm, welcoming, and inviting but who knows 🤷🏽♀️ maybe it is a southern thing lol also YES to changing the fabrics out through the seasons!! 🙌
I am an American born and bred currently living in Malaysia. Malaysia is a very mixed culture. They celebrate Dinali (Indian Festival) Chinese New Year (Chinese Festival) Christmas - If it's a party, the Malasians are down for it. Wreaths are not particularly common here, but door decorations abound. I've seen numerous door tapestries (my next door neighbor has a lovely tribal Ganesh tapestry) as well as seasonal decor (brilliant red and bright pink with gold New Year's streamers). It's lots of fun!
I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We not only have wreaths on our doors, but colored lights to match the season. I am the only one who doesn't have green lights on their porch for St. Paddy's Day. I do have a green wreath. 😁☘️ After St. Paddy's then the neighborhood will switch out to Easter. I will just do Spring. It makes the entrance cheery. I do have one ceramic bunny I keep out all year except for Christmas.
I do like changing my decor in the spring. One thing I change out is my art. In early November I put out our winter art pieces that work beautifully with my Christmas decor. In the spring I swap it out for brighter more colourful artwork. I think you appreciate your art more if you change it out or move it around.
I loved the tip about changing the look and feel of the room for the season. Would you consider demonstrating that by showing how you change out your pillows, throws and other accessories? Thank you.
I agree with you to a point about bunnies and chick’s however I will always bring them in if they are stone or rustic. I don’t like the cutesy colorful ones.
Valentina would cringe if she saw my bookshelf full of bunnies 🐰! I have been collecting antique and different material types of rabbits since I was a child. I have about 10 that I have collected during my travels or gifted to me. Bring on the Bunnies! Oh, and I totally agree with you about changing up fragrances. Love going from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer.
love these tips and laughed about the bunnies and chicks- I soooo agree! I was never drawn to those things. So excited to start decorating for spring - thanks for the inspiration !
Winter/Spring mashup. March is our best ski month. Snow at our home in Winter Park Colorado, but 50’S - 60’s at our home in Denver. 👍🏻 Colorado will average 360 sunshiny days a year. Sunshine even on snow days. 🥰
We don't do door wreaths in the Uk except for Christmas time, thats is usually bits of fir tree and ivy etc. I know you guys in the US do wreaths for all seasons and its something that is becoming more popular here too. I agree completely, faux plants outside are a 'no no' they look so false when they fade after the sun gets on them. Love LOVE your channel, you both are an inspiration to us all ❤
I just have to say, I love you guys. You have this fun, joyful energy. I am NOT stylish, my house has usually half of your no-nos lol, but I just love watching your videos, especially when you shoot them together. Y’all have so much fun energy! Thank you for sharing your passion with us. ☺️
I’m in Ohio and I love having wreaths on my front door. I have a huge covered porch and a pale yellow front door and the little bit of color is a nice welcome. Right now I have a simple lamb’s ear wreath up, but I’ll cycle through seasonal flowers- lilac, dogwood, magnolia, and sunflowers until it’s time for Halloween and then back to Christmas. I’m about to drape the blanket on the porch swing and put the throw pillows on pretty much all the seating, and enjoy some coffee on the spring morning.
I live in Denver, CO, USA and it is currently 25 degrees at 7pm. We had about 6 or 7 inches of snow that fell from Friday night to this morning. I may be making an embroidered spring showers quilt but spring won't be showing up here soon outside. We did, however, have some spring-like days prior to the last two snow events and our weather was in the mid 60s. No front door wreaths in our neighborhoods. Linda
Speaking of bunnies and chicks.... I did close to the same thing in fall with squirrels and owls. Fake looking stuffties. It was so bad. I had a good laugh at myself then donated those rascals. Lol
I agree with everything you’re saying and I love to get ideas from you guys. I’m not as into the chicks and bunnies either but I do have a little bit because I have grandchildren and they get excited when they come over and see some bunny statues hiding. You may feel differently when you have grandchildren. I used to have more when my children were little.
Yes!!! Thank you for validating my candle addiction...🤣 I just took my Sézane candle out of its box 💐 and changed out the duvet to a lighter color. It may only be a grey 45 degree day here in the PNW, but there's been a kiss of a day or two of spring like weather this week. So ready!!!
I try and buy fresh flowers every week to put in my house. I have a few faux stems in a couple places that don't get much light but I am a 4eal flowers person.
PNW here, Washington state. House is not dressed without a wreath on the front door. I change them with the seasons. Spring, summer, autumn, Christmas, winter. I think it makes the house more welcoming.
The wreath thing used to just be at Christmas, then it passed into senior living facilities as a room identifier helper for the residents, and the crazy marketing folks went nuts when they decided to make thousands for every holiday, season, month, and new baby that home owners nationwide thought they just HAD to have a dozen! Pier 1 was great for beautiful ones🤪, but you need to toss them out or you’ll live like the folks on hoarders!
Agree about the hoarders, lol. Those do seem to me a popular item for hoarders . I'm not sure this is how wreaths outside of Christmas evolved, though. I think people decided that a wreath could be a symbol of welcoming people into the home at other times besides Christmas. As door wreaths became popular outside of Christmas, people would use them on their front doors, including indoor apartment doors and senior and long term care facilities. For a resident of a nursing home, their room door becomes their "front door." Anyway, my opinion and as I saw it evolve over my 61 years.
Jack looks like he is sporting a “man bun” the way the dark light fixture is in the perfect spot behind him. : )
I thought the same thing-
Jack has grown himself a “man bun.”
🤣🤣🤣
I thought the same thing!
Me too for a minute I said to myself. I didn’t know his hair is long.
Yes. I was thinking the same thing. His head is positioned in front of the lamp behind him. Looks good on him. Takes me to another century! Ha!
Glad he’s not a “man bun” guy
Right off the bat, she came after my faux flowers and wreaths. 😂 I can’t give them up though, the colors make me so happy and they’re considerate of my allergies. 😆
Totally agree! 😊
Allergy and pet friendly!
You have the good quality faux flowers - she's talking about the cheap stuff - so you're good. :D
YES, silk flowers have come a long way

I’m a grandma of 16 and I love decorating my beautiful home for Easter. I want them to have fun memories of holidays at Grandma’s. I do put the bunnies and chicks away after Easter.😀
I’m with you Mariann, my 9 grands love it all!
That olive tree is awesome. I live in two places can’t have real.
How wonderful! I lived there for 3 years and loved it! The flowers are amazing!
I loved going to the market in Amsterdam and getting fresh flowers for the 6 weeks I stayed there. Netherlands is fantastic for flower lovers.
For a moment Jack looked nervous when Valentina mentioned about repainting the dark rooms lighter 😄 I love you 2! You both are so loving and quirky!
I even got nervous.... my blackkkk walls 😆 🤣 they are staying 😆
Always wondered..What do bunnies have to do with Easter??
@@loradron5938 Good question with many answers. If you Google it, you can certainly go down a rabbit hole of theories, no pun intended, lol.
Yes we like wreath on the front door in Pittsburgh pa
@BJG thank you! 😊
I totally agree!!!! Congrats and have a precious Bunny themed shower!!!! Wishing you a wonderful life! ❤
@@bernadettesmith3261 thanks! 😊
Tfs!
Love my bunnies& Chicks!!!
We are gonna have to agree to disagree on the bunnies 😄 I like to put out a cute bunny for Easter.
Agree!!!
What essential oils are toxic for pets?
Yes, I’d love to know some popular scents we should know about that may already be in our collection! 😬🤦♀️ I have two cats 🐈
Peppermint and eucalyptus come to mind immediately, but there are more!
I like the wreathes at Williams Sonoma, theyre real dried flowers or greenery and they preserve it so it lasts about a year. Gorg
Watching Jack watching you makes my day! Such a special couple!
In NJ, I only hung a wreath for Christmas but when I moved south, I loved the idea of getting a new wreath for each season. Doors seem naked without one to me now. I usually get wreaths with just greenery and little to no faux flowers.
No bunnies? I just can’t give up my cute little decor for Easter! Otherwise I am all in!
Those lil bunnies and items are great for Easter week and festivities but not the season long. Small doses of everything is the key.
Hello from Indiana ! Yes, I always have a wreath on my front door and change it through the seasons. 🌸
@@Bkate23 Oh yes! Great point! I hadn’t thought about that. You are so right!
I will never give up my fake flower wreaths lol. I even like seeing them on other peoples doors 🤷🏻♀️ still live this video though 😉
Jack, “soap coming out of a bunny’s butt!” I’m dying laughing!!!
I caught that too!! 😂😂 love Jack’s humor 😆
Same here with the cat who eats real plants and flowers.🙀. My cat actually chewed up part of a faux plant too.
It's very tricky with cats, I have 2 ad they love anything planted, so faux plants ad flowers all the way. Jus buy the ones that look nearly real.
YUM!! I love peeps too!! Thanks for this video and useful tips. Happy Spring to you and your family.
Sorry Valentina, I love the garden rabbits inside. I think of my home as rabbit 🐇 hill! The rabbits must stay!!!!
SAME!
🎼 “He stopped loving her today…they placed a wreath upon his dooooorr 🎵 soon they’ll carry him awaaaaayyy 🎶 he stopped loving her… todayyyyy~” Remember George Jones? 🥰
I was raised in Texas, so that’s why my Mom didn’t like wreaths on the front door! She does put Christmas wreaths but that’s it..
Also is any to mention you guys have the most beautiful relationship and family. Absolutely delightful to watch!☺️✨
LOL.... we have NEVER used a garage to house a vehicle!😄
I was like does Jack have a pony tail??? 😂😂 Great video!
Me too, I was like how did he grow a man bun overnight!? 😂😂
😂
In Serbia we make wreaths from dried flowers for St.John the Baptist day. Those wreaths stand up to all weather conditions till the same day next year.
Yes, lighten up the bedroom! That will be fun to watch.
I added a huge pot of white Verbena by the door this week
Love, love, love warmth and flowers everywhere outside.
Agree on the faux flowers …I still buy on occasion and then say “UGH”…
I learned so much from your example about having 15 Eiffel towers. I will now strive for essense rather than literal! I like my home a lot more themed than Valentina does but there is a way to do that without being too literal, and now I need to really evaluate my spaces and go for essence.
Right. Creating the MOOD with texture, color, textiles, and patterns looks more upscale and timeless.
Yes, breathe in the air. Your enthusiasm is contagious..
Decorating for Easter vs decorating for Spring are 2 different things...especially when you have kids or grandkids.
Breath of fresh air feeling is Spring
Thank you so much for your kind words!!!
Faux Flowers are my jam!!!! Lol.
Excellent advice! I never thought about creating a spring feel instead of using very popular decor everywhere. Great video, as always
I LOVE Anthropoligy candles- especially the Volcano scent! My absolute favorite.
You r enthusiasm is contagious and reminds me of that Pointer sisters song “I’m so excited “
I bet she would say that it’s most important that it makes you happy and you love it!
Enjoy your bunnies & don't worry about what anyone else thinks!
love these tips and laughed about the bunnies and chicks- I soooo agree! I was never drawn to those things. So excited to start decorating for spring - thanks for the inspiration !
Hello from Canada! Good morning and thanks for the videos! I love all the knowledge you share.
You’re so welcome!
Winter/Spring mashup. March is our best ski month. Snow at our home in Winter Park Colorado, but 50’S - 60’s at our home in Denver. 👍🏻 Colorado will average 360 sunshiny days a year. Sunshine even on snow days. 🥰
I'm from the Canadian prairies and I love a wreath for my door. I like a spring, fall and Christmas wreath.
Love LOVE your channel, you both are an inspiration to us all ❤
You almost lost me over the bunny pillows🤣
Love these ideas! I loved seeing your son for the first time, I think. He is so sweet!
PNW here, Washington state. House is not dressed without a wreath on the front door. I change them with the seasons. Spring, summer, autumn, Christmas, winter. I think it makes the house more welcoming.
Hello from Greece! We don't put weath on our doors but we have started seeing in ikea 😊
