There was plenty of civil unrest in the late 60s and early 70s and we survived it. Stop making like it's gonna be the end of the world and aliens are gonna come down and destroy us.
Last election I lived 30 minutes from Manhattan. I stocked 3 large totes with a months worth of food each plus water. I gratefully never had to use them, but they moved with us far far from NY area. I’ve used and donated that food, and have rebuilt a new supply with home canned items+. I’ve learned how to can, dehydrate, grow, butcher and preserve along the way. It’s been a blessing to learn so many new skills along this journey.
Watching Leisa’s channel I’ve learned to pressure can foods of all kinds. Just got a 23 quart Presto double stack canner and now it’s really guna get busy up in this house…two freezers full to get done plus the jam/jelly for Christmas gifts. God bless y’all 🌺🕊️🌸 be safe
@@MikkiandAngel I've used one for 2 years & it works perfectly. You'll want to get one or two extra canning racks (for processing pints & half-pints) and a full set of replacement seals, gaskets, etc. I even got a replacement pressure gauge. Needless to say, you want many dozens of jars and LOTS of lids. If things get bad and stay bad, supplies of all of these items will dry up rapidly.
@@rcinsley yes I was shopping Ace Hardware recently, and came upon the gauges. The gaskets and this is supplies. I’ll need for my new Presto canner. I’m excited about using it. It will make the workload of Canning more quick and efficient. I can do cases at a time which is excellent I do have however, been collecting ball Mason💕😎 and HARVEST glass jars. My neighbors have been giving me droves of them for the last four years. I come home and there’s used ones on my porch. The ones that have chips we put plants in stick them in the windows for herbs. I have three shelves for putting food up upon two of which have cases of courts all the way to half pint jars brand new never been used so I’m well stocked on that. Thanks for the tip of getting the new gaskets and seals I’m definitely gonna peruse the prices and get some before the end of September. God bless and have a wonderful winter. Be safe. 🙏🏻🇺🇸🌺
There's people out here who honestly think that everything that's been happening these last four years is perfectly normal, and don't think that anything bad can happen to them...
Normalcy Bias, it used to be called. This is why I laugh at all these breast-beating "patriots" screaming CW 2.0. There will BE no civil war; you can't get gun owners to vote, let alone put down the remote and get off the couch.
Ive been seeing all the lies of government and saying they are now helping Israel commit genocide I do not believe anything I've ever learned in america anymore the Vietnam War nuclear as tracks on Japan the Bible what all are lies what's truth it's shit of our government to directly lie to everyone
I’ve been quietly prepping our pantry much more than usual. I’ve not said anything about it to my family. I agree with you it does not matter who wins. The aftermath of this election will extend way beyond November 5th. As a lic. Psychologist observing all variables, civil unrest is a polite word & an understatement. I am 64 and have never seen this level of violent potential over an election in my entire life & I am frankly terrified.
I'm 63 plus and agree 💯% our country is no longer under " united we stand , and divided we fall". Everyone is a me, me, me thinker. And some don't even include their families. I'm not terrified for myself, but for our nation. This cannot continue or we will destroy our world.
@@denisewilson8367I’m 66 in a few weeks and I must agree. I also am not scared for myself, but my children and grandchildren really don’t understand how bad it can get. My son is a deputy in Florida and my prayers for for ALL LEO
I worked as a counselor and Juvenile PO and worked with adult men in DV Violence Intervention. I am concerned with the rhetoric, the scapegoating of different groups against people with less power and high proportion of folks who believe they are victims. Believing one is being victimized, responding with violence is seen by these folks as justified. We need a very wet and cold winter to discourage violence and make bad behavior unpleasant to participate in.
@@ej8710 I believe you will get it (wet/cold winter). Just like Germany's plans for Russia were foiled by the weather, it could very well happen in diverse places over the next five months. Or more. Humanity may have better things to worry about than religious or political ideologies. Supply chain logistics, for one.
I'm 77 and can remember a few years (going back to the mid-60s) when there were riots -- mostly triggered by racial issues, and mostly in the summer months. If you stayed out of the cities, you were safe. Today is different. The professional political elites have worked hard to divide us into warring factions...and they have imported 10 - 20 million outsiders to compound all of our problems. Whether they're eating pets or not, these invaders will consume available resources and services like locusts...and problems will stretch well beyond the cities.
I haven't been consistent with my prepping but your reminder that 46 days has made me realize that I have a lot of work to do. I am now making to-do lists. Everyone stay focused and prepare!
Thanks for the reminder. My sister said her friend believes no matter who wins, there's going to be unrest. No harm in being prepared. "The clever see trouble coming and hide; the thoughtless go on and pay the penalty. . ." Proverbs 22:3 Just being able to sit out crowds emptying shelves in stores is worth it. And having cash is super-important if ATMs go down.
We purchased another 13 acres and a trailer in the next county about 30 miles away! After seeing what happened with that train blowing up I was kinda freaked out. So when my husband bought land right next to our best friends I couldn’t argue. Just in case we need to evacuate we have another place to go! It’s not our home but the land is good and we are working on making it livable!
Same here bro and my policy is I’m not going anywhere my land is my hill so any interference in me being peaceful will unfortunately be met with a real big problem idc who it is
I know some people share their stories of personal dreams they've had about shtf scenarios. This is mine in a nutshell, chaos happening in my neighborhood, nobody is able to use their vehicles to escape for whatever reason. Homes on fire, loud explosions happening, loud sirens blaring, etc. However we are instructed by city officials to bring only essential items and get on the SCHOOL BUSSES that are being used to pick people up to take them to safety. PLEASE don't ever get on a school bus, expecting your town or government to help you!!! You've been warned!
as someone who lived in Minneapolis in 2020 during the rioting/pandemic all at once, I guess I would expect something extremely similar to happen again like last time, if anything took place here.
I have a brand new insurance supplied bedside one. never used. we had one in doing care, and mom lived to be 102! we had one and insurance paid for a second one. the irony of what is and is not paid for! Cheers.
I’m glad you said that about political signs. They drive me crazy. It’s no one’s business who I vote for or support. With all the madness already in,if you broadcast it you’re opening yourself up to danger. This country has gone from normal nuts to totally crazy. Prepare, prepare, prepare and be overly cautious and safe!!
We have a sheriff here in Ohio that has advised voters of a certain persuasion to take down the addresses of people who display signs of the opponents.
Absolutely. No bumper stickers are on my truck - not even a Quarter Horse one. You never know what will set people off these days. I look completely neutral. And there are three or four defensive weapons in the truck, in my purse, and I hope that I'm in shape enough that I don't look like some easy target. Back before I had a new knee put in, I was limping terribly, and felt like that antelope in the back of the herd that the lions will take down first. Also, situational awareness people. Don't put your groceries in the vehicle without looking around. I don't leave my purse in the seat of the cart - it's inside on the floor with my body blocking it. I park like a school bus driver, LOL, way, way out as far as I can get. I can see around the vehicle. I can open the doors all the way!
@@palominogirl2732 Those are great ideas. I've gone to wearing a hip pack instead of carrying a purse. It is always right there on me, and in colder weather it goes right under my coat.
For rural people, it's the supply chain interruptions. So put back MORE food, water, paper goods, hygiene, first aid, cleaning, etc. Find your bibles and read them.👍🙏🇺🇸
I have old plywood shelves i removed from the garage years ago. They're jyst the right size to screw into the frames around my front door side lights. The summer and fall of 2020 is still fresh in my mind and I'm not expecting any less trouble. Remove flags, window stickers, bumper stickers or anything that identifies your political or religious choices. Gray man, that's the goal to be totally gray man. No designer purses, sun glasses, shoes etc... nothing that says you have money. We can do this

I made a bug out bag of sorts for trips to the ER. My father is elderly and has made a few ER visits over the last few years. I just grab the bag and go. It has a camping pillow, a Bedsure blanket, pajamas, socks, snacks, his sweeteners, a container for his dentures and what not. ERs are cold, being admitted is uncomfortable. When we leave, I throw a few bottles of water in the bag and off we go.
@@lisavb5237 O yes, it didn't take long to realize there needed to be a few things for myself as well. First time out I included a 700 page book of letters written between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams to keep myself occupied. Improve my knowledge of my country, I thought. I didn't bring reading glasses, hahaha!
Same. My family has had several ER trips, including an unexpected ambulance transport from one hospital to a larger one, and unexpected long admission. In the kids bag, I've got a few DVDs and a portable player.
It is no coincidence the movie Civil War came out last April! It's telling us what's coming. I live in Europe, but this civil unrest in America will have huge impact on the rest of the world as well. The civil unrest will also happen here in Europe.
Prayers to you in Europe - which is about to explode - same thing here in the USA. If America falls, the world falls: Massive USA chaos is coming. The multiple situations and unease in Europe is a microcosm of what is to impact the entire world. The American elections might be the tipping point for Europe and everyone else to implode. Cities will become complete nightmares around the world: every single city. Prayers and preparation to you.
I ended up in Oakland alone at midnight when I was 19. So this was 1998. I went to a Walgreens to use the bathroom and get directions. I had never seen a store until then or for years after that was so under glass. An elderly black man said “girl get back in that car!go down that road and cross the bridge. Don’t stop for anyone, don’t look back and don’t slow down. You ain’t supposed to be here. ! We got in the car and did just what he said
@@leopardwoman38 probably, he was kind. I know how to read a paper map and keep one just in case but I sure do love the gps on my phone. I feel Stupid because I use to deliver pizza as a 20 year old. We didn’t have gps. We routed our delivery by a map on the wall and then remembered the cross streets. It’s kind of like remembering phone numbers. We had no choice but to know how to get places. This reminds me I need to go teach my 14 year old to read a map.
In the early 70s I had a similar experience. Got lost (way pre Google maps) after dark somewhere on Chicago's south side. Pulled into a gas station to get directions. And young black man, maybe late 20s, came up a said "what are you doing here?" I told him I was lost. He was anxiously looking all over while talking. He said "no shit white boy" He gave me very good directions, told me now get out of here. "Don't stop for anything. If you get a flat tire you just keep going. Don't stop for anything. I’d just like to give you a comment for the points you get ,yes Leisa I live like this always out family always in prepared mode, but my children on the other hand may think it’s nonsense,we are spread all over the continent so I’m doing the best I can . I’m learning the stay calm thing as sometimes shelter in place is all one can do . Stay quiet. Stay calm and carry on . Find things to do that doesn’t require electricity . Solar lights can be brought in at night. And take the stem off and place it in a jar set on a mirror it provides a lot more light that way . I use the star bucks coffee drink jars the dollar store light fits perfect on that and the dollar store small mirror 😊,a little crafty there but provides more light that way . Thank you for this video not fear promoting just awareness and preps .
I live up on a side of a mountain and the state believes in if a tree falls it stays were it fell. Back to nature . So we have plenty to block side roads and long drive with high advantage gives us a great view. Post land with no trespassing, beware of dogs and owners. We actually have no street sign and can camouflage our driveway at the bottom .
I am not planning on going out for a time after the election. I am retired so there would be no reason for me to go out at all. I am pretty much set for a good year if need be.
Leisa, I am so grateful to you for sharing your wisdom with this community! I am taking tips from you and others to make my prepping more “global”. Just got a small camp stove and now I’m inspired to look into security cameras. Common sense, preparation and vigilance are our best tools in these uncertain times. And no, you are NOT fearmongering, you are empowering others! Love from the Pacific Northwest❤
I followed my instincts months before covid and stocked up. My instincts are telling me something much worse is coming. I began preparing the beginning of this year. Garden. Water harvest. Food. Ive also put in some time for target practice. My instincts are on HIGH alert. And GOD knows i hope im wrong
Same here. I knew long before the shut down that it was going to be big so we made a trip to Sam’s. Been prepping ever since. I told everyone I worked with to get ready but no one listened. But I didn’t run out of toilet paper 😂
My parents are apolitical people, they hate talking about it, but even THEY are worried. The collective unease everyone is feeling is what really worries me, it doesn’t matter who you talk to EVERYONE has the feeling that something is coming.
Guessss what ? I found a cute little fondue pot 😂😂😂😂 I really did at our goodwill . I walked in and said now that I want one there won’t be one . I was blessed with one yeahhhhh . Thanks sweetie GODBLESS HUN
Secondhand stores, Dollar General, Goodwill, Value Village, etc , these are great places to look for stuff. Candles, pots, baseball bats, blankets. You can get loads of food at a dollar store. Good luck
It has been quite awhile since I tried to tell that to anyone. I got to be afraid that they would remember me when they were out of stuff. In a bad way.
I learned that lesson in early 2020. I'm a news junkie. I read international news. Us news junkies knew all about that strange virus in Wuhan, China. I knew it was coming here and I spent two months stocking up for the lockdown. I told friends and people I work with and was completely ignored - until it was too late for them. It's the story of the ants and the grasshopper. I was ready, I could have stayed home for six months if need be.
I've been telling friends for a long time to prepare and share options on what to purchase and where to store it when storage is limited. I quit talking for the same reason MeMyself mentioned. The last time I asked a friend if she had stocked up, she said she had but they ate it already. SMH - stick a fork in me, I'm done.
You've done enough. If you really want to give the message again, you can say I care about you and if something happens I will not be able to help you....leave it at that.
I believe in assessing your neighbors. I’m fortunate enough to live in a neighborhood on a street that I’ve lived on for 25 years. I know many people in the community, and I honestly believe that the community I have around us will work together. We did during Covid, the older kids helped a ton, I’m not so worried about this neighborhood. I would worry if I was 30 minutes closer to town. The biggest thing is to stock up because stores might be out of stock for a while. I believe there’ll be some unrest but I honestly believe sane people are tired of all the bs.

We're in the country too with property too big to fence in but I suggested to my husband that we get several rolls of very dangerous barbed wire and circle the house with it, he laughed, I still think its a good idea, LOL! Even if you don't have a certain kind of self-protection tool or the ability to obtain one, we all have basements, closets, sheds and garages full of all sorts of things that with a little imagination and creativity, we can be well-prepared and confident. Watching anxiously from Canada, we got some serious stressors happening here too and wishing everyone all the very best. Be prepared and keep safe!
I am stocked up very, very well but am making one last stock up haul at Costco and a farmer's market this weekend. Afterwards, I am going to finish my canning projects, enjoy being at home and taking care of my family. I agree 100% that there is going to be chaos and possibly civil unrest after the election. I am SO thankful that we live out in the country, have a top of the line security system, cameras everywhere outside and inside, dogs that hear a leaf drop, and some very good "friends" to protect us. We have a whole house back up generator and I honestly think we have done everything we can do to take care of our family, animals, home and property.
@cindybarnes1533 I'm old, alone, a blue dot among the very rural and red state of Texas, and a very tired woman. I'm not listed as handicapped but have had major damage done to my spine and brain. I started buying an extra can or bag of something each time I went to the store during Covid and kept on going. Can you buy a bag of rice and one of beans on your budget or check to see if there is a Food Bank near you or one that will deliver? Don't let yourself have a pity party. DO SOMETHING TODAY.
@@cindybarnes1533everyone can do it a little at a time. You must set yourself up to win. First get a can -do attitude. It's a priority. I started in a bad way with poor, pitiful me attitude too. I'm over 63 yrsbold. Female, single, disabled, and I don't get full disability check bcuz of ex-husband. But I live in my motorhome with my old dog. No running water, no septic or sewer, no electric, no garbage service, no fridge and no furnace. I put tiny amounts of money back and tiny amounts of food back. I bought a cooler & freezer packs. I set them out at night and the cool air makes them keep my food safe. Not milk or eggs tho. So I buy powdered milk & freeze dried egg powder. I bought a cheap 100 watt Harbor Freight solar system and USB /cigarette charger and this is what charges my cell phone, lanterns, spot lights & motion lights. It also charges my cell phone. I have a AA battery clock for time. I bought 40-pound propane tanks (3 and 1 20 pound tank) and a heater to connect to it for heat. I haul my water in 2 1/2 gallon jugs in for bathing, prepping food, and washing dishes and drinking. I haul my waste and garbage out bcuz I live too close to the dump no door to door services (within 5 miles of dump property). I bought a canner & pressure can all of my monthly food and the little extra that I buy each month. I have managed to get at least 6 months extra over time. I have a couple extra cans of gas for a vehicle put back. I have to make my own repairs on my lawnmower, my old zero turn, my vehicles and my motorhome (house). I can't afford a mechanic. I am building a water catchment system & natural filter system and putting upgutters & a first flush system with an outdoor sink for laundry & washing root veggies. I'm doing all of it with 1 working arm and the non working arm in a sling. As of today I'm in need of emergency knee surgery and I'm on crutches. I'm also allergic to non- allergenic staples, plates and pins. If I can do it, so can you and everyone else who makes less than $800 per month to live on like I do.
@@cindybarnes1533 Well, just to clarify, I am a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Secondly, I have had two spinal surgeries, steel screws and plates holding my neck together, horrible arthritis, and am diabetic. My husband is going through cancer treatments. We have had the mindset many years before 2020 to stay prepared for many different things. We are debt free, own our home, live a simple life, and thankfully own a business that allows us to keep living a prepared lifestyle. But also, I am in pain almost all the time, exhausted from hospital stays and doctor's appointments five days a week since last December. What makes me able to do this more than anything is that I am, and always have been one to never feel defeated and do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals. It's a blessing of course but more than that, it is determination.
I'm in agreement with the feeling there are just too many ways any scenario can go sideways at this point, and few that it wont. A few things I probably would not have thought of if I hadn't been sending these things to my son and now his friends deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Romania these last years: Candles Socks/underwear Hard candy Body powder (soldiers loved the monkey butt to help prevent chaffing) Cards/travel board games/activity books in case there is no power Another thing is good boots that tie up above the ankle to loosen and tighten support as needed. Something a lot of people dont know is that some shoe/boot makers have a "big kids" section that is normally much cheaper than the adult version and a size 6 in big kids is almost exactly a size 8 med width in womens. I've bought 4 pair of Georgia boots from the kids section when on sale for a fraction of what similar styles were in the womens.
Just a couple of thoughts of things to think about. Jigsaw puzzles to keep amused, write the addresses and phone numbers of your neighbours and families down, don't just rely on electronic devices to get the information. Situational awareness, start it in earnest now. Think about who your neighbours are, what do they look like, are they known to you ? Become small and grey and blend into the background. If the government is handing out anything in your neighbourhood, stand in line like everyone else, don't make it known you have prepared anything. Keep your ratty tatty clothes for being seen in.
Lost power one time during an ice storm for 21 days. The jigsaw puzzles were very helpful for entertainment. But now I'd have to make sure I have some good reading glasses and possibly a magnifying glass to see the small pieces 😅. So, for those who need help with vision, extra pairs of reading glasses are a must have.
Yes, I agree with you. The potential is very apparent. I have been preparing. I figure if it doesn't come to pass I'll still use my storage and enjoy it.
Watching from Canada and you can feel the tension here on what is going on in the States. You have potential strikes with the PORTS October 1st, which move around food and goods. You have your election coming up and the unrest. You have Europe agreeing to go to war with Russia. I never thought I would live to see this or sadly that my children would have to be present for this, but here we are. All we can all do is stay in the know , keep a level head and prepare how ever we can. Sending good positive vibes for all.
Ditto. I live in Canada, too. I have many family members who are American and live in Delaware, Virginia, Montana, Florida, and Georgia. My anxiety levels have been going crazy for a while now. I know that we can be affected here north of the border. We live in the country. We live next to a large river and we know where our water comes from and where it goes. I just hope for the best. We would rather be prepared and not have anything happen than not be ready, and the shit hits the fan, HARD.
Add the tens of millions of unvetted illegal aliens we have let into this country. Mostly young males. We have no idea what they were brought here to do in USA
No, in Europe nobody wants to go to war with Russia. No citizen is willing to fight in a war to defend other people's interests. All of this is being promoted by the leaders of NATO, the United Kingdom and the arms industry and the US government. We are fed up with Ukraine and Zelensky.
I was stationed at a post where there was literally NO Toilet Paper, and NO Running Water. A Bidet wouldn't have worked, but some thinking people decided to get some Garden Sprayers and bend the spray nozzles inward somewhat, and used them like a Bidet to keep yourself clean. We used Rags and small towels to "dry off" and kept the towel with your sprayer. The towels and rags would get washed and dried as needed, though most times, the sprayer cleaned everything away that needed to be wiped. It was a saving move, because not keeping yourself clean after going to the toilet, can cause discomfort, rashes and even disease.
Great video, as always, Leisa! Here's a camera hint - if you are going to install cameras outdoors, purchase one that records 24/7. I live in the city of St. Louis and I have Wyze cameras that are motion activated and a nest camera, that records 24/7. I pay for a monthly subscription on both. Many a time my nest records something that does not trigger the Wyze cameras, which need sufficient movement to activate. They have their place and I appreciate them, but when someone on my block asks if anyone has a recording of something, it is always on my nest camera and rarely on my Wyze. With two cats and two dogs, I won't be bugging out. I would never leave my critters, any more than I would leave young children if I had them. Don't forget the cat and dog food!
I would suggest getting one that isn't dependent on WiFi etc. a simple jammer can make that worthless fyi. Cameras are great just hardwired one or two for safe measures
My neighbor has sliding doors going to her deck. She keeps a thick wood dowel horizontally in the track on the inside of the house just in case anyone manages to break the door lock. The track is jammed. She wedged wood dowels vertically in the corners of her window tracks as well. In order to break in the glass must be broken. When she wants them open she removes the dowels. She figures she won't need to break into her own house and in an emergency, EMS/FD would break the glass anyway. But, the setup should discourage most breaking in to the house.
A piece of rebar is better. It can't be broken like pvc. It can't be "bounced " out by jerking the doors like a broom handle can., bcuz it's too heavy.
I think many of us are. We had a shooting threat at our schools yesterday. I live in the middle of nowhere in a town of 3400. Never in a million years would I have thought it would happen here. Thank heavens it ended up being a hoax but it sure got our attention. People are also threatening each other here. This shouldn't be happening in the greatest country in the world. I hope people are preparing in all ways.
New people in your area are CIA plants, put there when the Biden admin moved everyone around.. they hired the same amount of IRS agents to cover up the CIA hires.
schools brainwashing generations of people into Darwinism and your surprised everyone is fighting with each other? I know its sad, but lets not pretend we don't know why. Schools should not be raising kids entirely like they do now adays, that is slavery and anti-family.
I suggest collecting convalescent care equipment. Grid down, hospital care limited. You can get used items at thrift stores, yard sales, elder relatives, flea markets, etc. Build supply of crutches, canes, commodes, transport chairs, braces, shower chairs, wheelchairs, safety bars, toilet aids, bed rails, etc. Anything that will aid in home care needs. Access maybe difficult to acquire them, maybe very expensive, or availability to hospitals may not exist. Anything for home healthcare use should be a priority.
Be on extra high alert this Halloween! Not just trick-or-treaters, but everywhere you go. People can and will use the holiday as a cover for their crimes.
It would be a good time to pick up the decorations that are motion activated. It'll let you know someone's snooping and it'd scare the crap out of certain newcomers that aren't used to seeing skeletons pop out at them yelling Happy Halloween.
Strengthening your doors and securing your home just keeps an honest man honest. I know there will be problems and we just need to prepare for whatever happens.
Im not an anxious person. But I am a very intuitive person and this situation gives me anxiety. It feels different. I plan to shelter in place but our old falling apart house isn’t very secure. Big picture windows, old doors, thin walls. Boards and nails are in my tool shed though, big enough for the windows. We’ll see how far that gets me if there is unrest. If we get to stay in our home, we’re stocked and can keep us fed and warm. If not, my big crew is going to struggle with special needs and physical disabilities. Worried worried worried.
Praying for you. May God send His angels all around you and protect you with a wall of fire, that no evil will come close to you. Stay in the Word of God. He knows how to take care of you. I pray that your worries will turn into calm and peace. Worry is a sin. GOD has not given you a spirit of fear, but of peace and calm and self control.
I totally understand what happened to you in Chicago. My family was part of what the historians call "The Great White Flight" from Chicago in the 1960s. We were literally one of the last families to leave the south side and boy the stories I could tell. We did not want to leave as we loved the neighborhood; we had to leave for our own safety. I live in a neighborhood now where there is great diversity, and it works. However, it's the cost of living and high taxes that is forcing us to leave this time, and a longing for a more peaceful place to retire.
Stay calm, you cannot pay attention to details and be freaked out at the same time. Take one step at a time and go down Leisa's checklist. It will direct you.
Treat your preparedness as one would eat an elephant: One bite at a time. That's how I've dealt with life's issues that seemed overwhelming to me at the time. "One bite at a time" allows my brain to slow down and think coherently for what needs to be done.
❤❤❤ This is the best video I've ever seen. You totally freaking rock. I've been ready for 4 years now, but I've never planned to leave while I'm still breathing. I have finally decided to prepare a bug out bag. All my neighbors know I am a very happy recluse. I trust no one but the Lord. No one is allowed in my house.
So much wisdom here. I’m still traumatized remembering how restrooms were closed during covid. Many gas stations would not allow anyone to use their restrooms in Michigan, and people descended into lunacy when a toilet was available. I’m a first responder and remember going into a public bathroom that was open only to see the toilet filled and overflowing and people had started using the floor drain 😓
Simple door security: cut a notch in a 2x4 that is a little taller than the doorknob. Put the notch under the knob & wedge the 2x4 in place. They also make portable bidets that are basically a water-bottle with an angled nozzle. For an emergency toilet, i highly recommend either a bedside commode or one of the ones that you can place over a toilet (or bucket) to add handrails/height. I know that as clumsy as I am, if I had to balance on a bucket? the poop would not only hit the fan, but it would hit me as well! hand-rails will be a godsend! We now have all points of ingress into our yard covered by cameras, the fence gates are also blocked with additional boards that prevent opening even if you could open the latch from the outside. Also, my hermit self, has actually gotten to know most of the neighbors in our immediate area while walking the dog in the evenings (have also identified potential assets or threats from observation on these walks as well...it's amazing how much you can glean just by being observant).
If I need to go to the W superstore for anything it makes me anxious..when I get out of car I grab cart nearest to car as protection if available..when I get in store I head to sporting goods and grab a baseball bat and keep in my cart 🛒 until I checkout. I have mostly stopped going alone but sometimes it can’t be avoided. I always have my protection tools onboard for the ride and wasp spray handy . I keep a cooler in car so no need to sit in any drive thru lines. I’m working on grid down supplies and it is overwhelming but necessary..thank u Leisa for motivation tonight ☮️❤️🇺🇸🙏
I don't understand why there's such fear just going to Walmart? I completely understand the need for situational awareness and I have my CCL but I'm lost on the widespread fear to go out to run errands. Btw, this is truly an honest question.

This home safety tip came from Alaska Prepper: to deter intruders at ground level windows. Take a long piece of wood (2x4) and pound roofing nails (very long length nails) through the bottom to cover one end to the other. Carefully place board in a very shallowed out length under the window (where someone would be standing etc) and carefully cover with mulch or leaves. It’s an early warning at the very least if someone is there. If you need to escape via the window - be aware/careful.
@@irony11?? Illegal? I’m not quite understanding the posting about the 2x4 at the base…then to read it is illegal in some areas? You’ve piqued my interest.
@@nevastrong2850 You may want to look up booby trap laws. The most known case being Katko v. Briney. The argument stands that they also pose threat to first responders such as firemen. There are several cases and the courts do not look favorable upon people that place them.. even with warning or no trespassing signs.
I’m listening to this for the second time, and I am wishing this would have been published before the Minneapolis riots of 2020. One thing I never thought I would ever do is board up my home and run. Plywood became very scarce and expensive during the uprising. I was lucky that friends showed up with enough plywood to cover all the windows on my main floor. I have stored all the pieces and labeled them so I know which windows they fit on in the event I need to use them again. So I would add picking up some sheets of plywood just in case you need to cover windows and doors. And get some screws to attach them.
Wow! The same thing happened to me in the 80’s. I was going to a party with friends and we ran over spikes and had four flat tires in Cabrini green. We went into a store to find fix o flat and you could hear a pin drop. A police officer came by and pushed us into his car and said you need to get out of here. We told him what happened and he helped us get out. Growing up in Chicago we had no idea how bad that neighborhood was.
Hiya, messaging from Canada and I think you are awesome. I thought I was subscribed to you and found out today I wasn't. I fixed that. Canadians are also wary of what will happen in November down in the States and we are filling in our preps here. Like fire blankets which you mentioned in another video. We are giving them to our kids for Christmas. Writing down phone numbers is a great idea! Oh and I live in a rural village of less than 900 people, so I can definitely say I know about my water and sanitation. Here we have large (bring on a tractor trailer) generators for our services but even still we have the Ecoflow system in our house. You are so right when you say people have been through some stuff and here in this house we definitely have. Be prepared. Thank you for all the great suggestions you always have and you fabulous witty commentary.

I am prepared to stay home for months if need be. I have a bug out bag. I started chair yoga for seniors, already improving. I no longer eat out or shop, this is about a 50/50 blue/red county with open carry. My enclosed valley has a watch, but all are 30 something males. At 70 I am relegated to sniper fire from the trees with the other wimmin, but am 5 miles in, the last in line. Bizarre to contemplate this in the US. I haven't heard redhat talk in my hood, perhaps they'll pass us up. I do hear rifle practice. I am "in charge" of edible native plant identification since I'm the only one who can. It is rural and plenty of food all around. Livestock is common.
I have many medicinal plants, but there are legal problems around using them on others without a license. I research those foods that *support* each body system and keep them in my diet. Example: Today I am studying foods that contain ribose and which body systems that need ribose.
My wife and I graduated from Annapolis High School in Dearborn Heights in 1981. Our stomping grounds were the Downriver area. I think you'll know which state we're from! We now live on a small homestead in a small rural area in Middle Tennessee. Prepped. Eyes wide open!
Best thing you can do is to have "living fences".... pyracantha, or if you're in an arid area , cat claw acacia, but best is a variety of Trifoliate Orange, Flying Dragon... planted closely together makes an almost impenetrable barrier (WWII it took tanks to get through them in Poland...aka "malevolent security hedge) is a cold tolerant citrus (zone 5 -11 but fruits may not ripen in 5) . You trim it with a serious hedge trimmer, has wicked thorns. For the older folks, you'll know what "pig-tight, bull-strong, and horse-high" means..you youngsters can figure it out. 😀 The place I just sold in South TX had about 1/2 mile of living fence and when I buy the new place, it's something I'll plant first. Dont try to eat the fruit raw, but its been used for centuries in Asian medicine, recipies such as orange marmalade & orange liqueur, teas, anything calling for orange peel, and for orange oil in cleaning. Deer don't eat it, makes great nesting sights for birds. Another good choice is Osage Orange (not a true citrus and thorns aren't as serious as Trifoliate Orange but wood makes great fence posts and bows). Sorry, plant nerd here...and I like fences that are sustainable. Very good article on Trifoliate Orange: www.gardensall.com/trifoliate-orange-cold-hardy-citrus/#Trifoliate_Orange_Hardiness_Zones
You lived in Sputh Texas, I may mis-spell it but Boldella (beautiful blooms, wicked thorns), also lots of prickly pear! I MOVED FROM Brownsville area up North of Corpus. Trying to garden black clay in 100 degree weather. 😂
Hawthorn trees planted close together, climbing roses for where you want it pretty or letting those fake rose bushes grow wildwhere it doesn't have to be. They have some intense amount of thorns too.
I am a Chicagoland girl and I am the girl that the police escorted out of Cabrini Green on New Year’s Eve because I made the wrong turn. That is a legit truthful story.
Remember that the Largest Longshore on East Coast and Gulf Coast are still going to go on strike October 1, 2024. This will cause lots of delays and empty shelves. One good thing is to remember that your camping supplies are great for these trying times. Cooking, shelters to toilets are all things to have for camping and survival in your home and afar. I’ve been thinking of putting an outhouse in the backyard. Plus you can build your own outhouse with its own septic outside also. I’m always thinking of sanitation for these times. I have enough for my sweetie and I, plus his grandchildren. I keep looking for anything I’ve forgotten or am low on. This program truly helped me to refocus and contemplate it all again. Thank you.
I was surprised when she said ' AP news is totally not biased. Try different internet news sources for unbiased news. A source biased against red China but good for US news is the Epoch Times.
I agree with everything you said. Be the confident gray person and operate under the radar. People have no idea what we have. We're very concerned about what may happen in the next 45 days and going forward. Trying to be as prepared as we can with the resources we have available for preparing. Thankful it will not be the dead of summer because I do better in cold than heat in case of grid down. If we can make it where we are until retirement in a few years, we really hope to go someplace more rural.
Start now. Buying the property, unless paying cash, is easier with a job to back it up. You can start planting perennials like fruit trees and rhubarb, asparagus, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Plant nut trees like hazelnuts, carpathian walnut, and pecan. It takes about 5 years to have full fruit available. You can also watch the land to see where the heavy rain moves across your land to know where to build & not build. It will give you plenty of time to leisurely build all your infrastructure and not stress over timing or budget. It would also g8ve you a place to bug out to if needed. Just my opinion. Hope this helps.
I grew up in Chicago and was very streetwise, but the streets have changed. I am so glad our family moved up to rural WI over 30 years ago and our house is not visible from the road and difficult to access for those who don't know where it is. We can even bowhunt in our woods and are pretty accurate archers. The outdoor cameras we have can show us deer and any unwanted varmints. Stay safe.
Our heads need to be on swivels at this point. Crap will be coming from all directions. Still continuing to increase our canned food inventory and other needs. Our plans are in place with what ifs changes outlined.
Sometimes in a fire you can't go down the stairs. So how would you get out? Fire Ladders hang on your window sills. They ate a great , safe way to get out of the upstairs.
To reinforce the sense of wisdom in the plan: Even if things aren't unavailable, they could get mighty expensive after a major disruption. That is, you might see, in a couple of months, that prices are rising quickly and it's hard to find your usual favorites. You go shopping and find today's $200 shopping trip to cost $500. So-- word to the wise-- get some of these durable items while the gettin' is good.
I am in Australia (on a 9000 acre farm) in the middle of nowhere, I completely get youre fear of driving in the cities !!!!! I would drive 2 hours out of my way, to avoid it !! I dont envy you, living in the US over the next few months. I feel the same as you, things are going to get rough…. Take care everyone.
Thank you for the helpful information. You mentioned generators and noise. There are non-gas generators that can be operated indoors-basically rechargeable. I've been pricing them-they are a lot more expensive than a portable gas one but safer and no one can hear them if you are recharging with solar-people can see the solar. Also, I am doing something else that may be helpful to people. I am limiting the number of workmen on my property who can see what I have (not that I have a lot). So anything you can do-lawn work, etc., you may want to do yourself. This is not a time to have new workers on your property who can see your supplies especially since some are migrants who have not been vetted.
For sure! They *just* changed zoning on a large parcel across the street from us - from R1/ag to R2-L. Lots of us showed up to protest the idea but since it fit into the "master plan" they ok'd it.
I thought about all my preps. Sorry but I do have ramen. I have septic so I am good there. I topped off my water jugs. I can't lift more than 3 so I will have to tip to get water out. 7 1 gallon jugs to fill. 7 is 7. I have enough of everything for months. 4 ways to cook. Have been working on getting stuff out of plastic. I used to wash any plastic bottle for storage. Working on putting in glass and no plastic. If stuff happens I at least have less trash to deal with. Always more to do and accomplish. Been working for years. I am 66 and disabled. Backups for my backups as you say.
You’re very wise to keep your political opinions to yourself. I wish more people had that sense. We used to call it common sense but it’s not that common anymore.
Also if you are on public sewer you need to have a way to block it from coming back inside your home as most people will still try to use their bathrooms and it will eventually back up into everyhome that does not have it blocked
Wouldn't just turning off the water do it? Since most likely the water won't be running either. I have access to my sewer line in my porch. If there's a valve there what's going to prevent the line from rupturing in your front yard?
@@georgemarcouxjr6192 I did a quick search, here's part of it. Does every house have a backflow valve? Does your home require a backflow prevention device? For most people, the conventional answer is “no.” Backflow preventers are generally thought to only be required for businesses, and yet your home may very well have one as well.

We need a very wet and cold winter to discourage violence and make bad behavior unpleasant to participate in.

! We got in the car and did just what he said
Yup, I have a similiar story; age 23 & around 1989, but in Minneapolis. Terrifying, thus all my cars have papers maps now!!!
I was in the bus station in Oakland in the early 70s. Absolutely terrifying. Guess it hasn't changed.
He was right! He may have saved your life.
He said "no shit white boy"
He gave me very good directions, told me now get out of here. "Don't stop for anything. If you get a flat tire you just keep going. Don't stop for anything. You don't belong here. Now go. GO!"

How very Zen of the state. "If a tree falls in a forest, it doesn't exist, because we didn't see it/hear it". 😁😁

I have been trying to tell people they should get everything they need. They just do not want to understand.
@@MeMyself-y5n Very wise.

What a blessing you are not old, disabled, alone and can afford all that.

A few things I probably would not have thought of if I hadn't been sending these things to my son and now his friends deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Romania these last years:
Candles
Socks/underwear
Hard candy
Body powder (soldiers loved the monkey butt to help prevent chaffing)
Cards/travel board games/activity books in case there is no power
Another thing is good boots that tie up above the ankle to loosen and tighten support as needed.
The longer this goes, wear the biggest old clothes. I use sewing elastic to keep the pants up...ie, I'm losing a lot of weight.
Its just smart to be prepared! Ive never seen anyrhing like this years ago...this is sad...

Thank you. I am 64 and have suffered more pre-election anxiety than ever before. Had not even thought about prepping but statting today, I will begin.
OMG! I feel you! I am such a country girl. I can't handle busy city life. I like my back roads, corn fields, and quiet.

Thank you Leisa. You are a calm voice for me in this storm!
We did the same thing but with pvc pipe. We had some extra.
A piece of rebar is better. It can't be broken like pvc. It can't be "bounced " out by jerking the doors like a broom handle can., bcuz it's too heavy.
Can't they just break the glass?
@@DDiamondRRuby Yes, but the noise of them breaking the glass is louder than just sliding the door open.
You can take a shovel and lift a sliding glass door out of the track, even with the dowel rod there. Needs a set screw at the top to stop that.

Oh we stopped allowing- trick or treaters back in '18.

You said 6 weeks and my brain screamed. 😂 I’m working on getting prepared, and only slightly panicking while doing it.

You talk to your neighbors? LOL
Thank you for the door security idea!!

You should also check with your local laws. In some areas that is illegal. Only saying this so people can be prepared on that end too.

This!!! I’ve been thinking about this for four years. I need to buy plywood stat!
After seeing the Jan 6th Riot. I’m scared. Especially living in North Carolina. A Red State.
One time some kids from there threw a rock down on our car and broke our windshield. If we had been in a convertible, I wouldn't be here today.
Shocking, I'm glad you got help.
Canadian here. Yes it doesn't matter what happens with the election, Though I am on the sidelines I can see that things are going to bubble over and there is potential for chaos. Getting ready for a possible difficult fall and winter. Thanks for your perspective on the situation
I agree 100 percent.
I went back to my old neighborhood awhile back and I agree with you. It made me sad.
That bookstore sounds AMAZING!😊
I am so prepared I scare myself lol! My husband thinks I’m nuts, but he lets me do my thing! Thanks for all your knowledge!
You can do it!
Mine thinks I’m nuts too…but I’ve always been proactive
Bet your husband s are all like "you're nuts!"
Just a FYI: for people who need security light's, Amazon sells a 4 pack and 2 pack of motion detection solar light's that we have and they work great.
Edit- it's Baxia Technology on sale for 23.99
I agree. We have them posted on our fence out back. We love them!
Care to give a mfg. Name title so a person can buy the same
Agree! I use one at night to get to and from the bathroom. When it needs charging I swap it out for a different one.
@@islesanctum833 Sorry, I had to look for it. It's Baxia Technology on sale now for 23.99 for a 4 pack. We've had ours for 2 years now and they are bright
@@islesanctum833it's written right there in the comment.
I am considered a protected asset because I can find and eat plants.
You give me courage. Thank you!!❤❤❤
Find something that makes you valuable to others. The group you join will help you thru.
Wild edibles is a great thing. What about medicinal too.
Pardon my ignorance from this 67 yr old woman. But what's a "redhat"?
I have many medicinal plants, but there are legal problems around using them on others without a license. I research those foods that *support* each body system and keep them in my diet. Example: Today I am studying foods that contain ribose and which body systems that need ribose.
My grandma took me to that bookstore when I was a child, I’ve been wanting to go back someday! Maybe when things calm down..
You betcha! I know pig tight, bull string and horse high. And wow, Osage Orange (aka hedge apple) is the best wood for fence posts.
Thank you so much for this information!!!❤
Brilliant comment. Ty
Sounds like an interesting story. How did that happen?
Remember that the Largest Longshore on East Coast and Gulf Coast are still going to go on strike October 1, 2024. This will cause lots of delays and empty shelves. Port authorities are already shutting down areas in preparations for this. Shortages will definitely appear when least expected. Prep, prep, prep!
Yes I heard about that as well 😢
Thank you for telling us!!
Missed that - thanks for the info. This puts me into hyperdrive mode for the next few days!
Thank you.
Former journalist here. AP is absolutely not unbiased any more.
I was surprised when she said ' AP news is totally not biased. Try different internet news sources for unbiased news. A source biased against red China but good for US news is the Epoch Times.
I was Thinking the same thing when she said that because I've heard other people that worked for news stations saying the same thing about them

Thank you Lisa for the talk down. And also trying to get us ready for what is on the horizon
Listening to your video, as I reorganize my BIG PANTRY! Making a list of what we need to fill in the gaps!
I love the way your brain works. I moved to a 2-story house a couple of years ago. I never thought of a latter for the upstairs.
Sometimes in a fire you can't go down the stairs. So how would you get out? Fire Ladders hang on your window sills. They ate a great , safe way to get out of the upstairs.
😊❤Thank you, Leisa. Let's not forget thunder vest for our nervous pets (furbabies) need to stay calm too. Much love to you and yours.
9000 acre farm in Australia......... yeah, you're living my dream.....lol
I love how you present this in a non “the sky is falling” way
Thank you for the helpful information.
If your town/county has a board of supervisors meeting, start attending! Get familiar with who is making decisions, town/county plans, etc.
Great idea!
Yes to this! A member of our Patriot group is a county supervisor, so she’s a great go to.
Thank you!!
You’re very wise to keep your political opinions to yourself. I wish more people had that sense. We used to call it common sense but it’s not that common anymore.
So thankful its almost here.

Also if you are on public sewer you need to have a way to block it from coming back inside your home as most people will still try to use their bathrooms and it will eventually back up into everyhome that does not have it blocked
Back flow valves have been installed in homes for some time now.
@@georgemarcouxjr6192 the houses built before "some time" still exist, d0rk.
@@dancinginabundance Your absolutely right. I have a septic tank. No back flow valves needed. However, if your on city sewer, it's not a bad idea.
Agree with you Leisa. My husband and I have been talking about these same issues. Be prepared! Thank you for your encouragement and knowledge. Love your videos.
