Last week my mother in the UK received a letter with her electricity bill. It’s a plan the UK government has made for rolling blackouts. She has a number assigned according to her post code (zip code), a table informs her which hours per day she will be cut off from the grid. The UK government without mentioning it specifically is preparing for the mother of all energy crises if there is a regional war in the Middle East. Europe relies on gas imports by boat to generate electricity, more so in the winter. I bought her a wide range of prepping supplies for a blackout 2 years ago when Northern Europe’s gas supplies by pipeline from Russia ended due to the Ukraine war. Man it was difficult to get her large propane bottles for a portable heater and they are still hard to come by. There was much complaining about filling up the closet under the stairs but she’s happy about it now. 😊 Adding extra bottled water this week. I’m so relieved I started prepping after COVID lockdown when it was much more affordable. I went into financial crisis mode after COVID, cancelling a purchase of a new vehicle and paying down any debt. Didn’t have much since I am self employed so I never did the consumer debt thing. Debt free now except a few thousand left on the mortgage which I will probably wipe this month from savings. Profit as a freelancer down 60% but my outgoings are now minimal, groceries and utilities. I have a small apartment that I own and am prepped to bug in for months. Small portable balcony solar system that will charge the portable lanterns and just barely runs a small induction plate for cooking, I have gas backup for that anyway. Be smart, get informed, cut all frivolous spending, you won’t miss it. Buy quality, store stuff properly for the long term and rotate your pantry. Don’t forget medical preps and build in redundancy in all your systems. Trade frivolous purchases for a feeling of control and security. You will be happier. 😊
Yup, probably a good idea to pay down the mortgage with savings before they raid our bank accounts. In 2013 customers of Greek banks had their bank accounts raided. They took $1.00 of every $16.00 dollars in their account. So if you had just $10,000 in your account they took 625.00 without your permission. So with current inflation they'll be taking more than that. So, Is money the best thing to hoard? Not so much, preps are king.
I work in a grocery store . You can just go to the bakery section and ask the baker for their frosting buckets . They are not only free , they are food grade and come with tops . Just some helpful budget friendly info .
Another idea to stretch paper plates or even regular plates. Get a box or two of the individual cut wax paper (like they use to pick up donuts with at the bakery). I use paper platesbut put a wax paper on top. Coffee filters also work to hold dry things like chips etc. 😊
I bought 100 cans of various canned vegetables from Walmart this month to add to my stock pile. It's just me so I don't worry about pleasing anyone with what I make.
Last week I was taking a stroll through Sam's Club just looking to see if I have overlooked anything that I need to stock. I saw the little packets of Mayo. I hadn't even thought about how I was going to keep mayo cold if the electric goes out. The little packets doesn't need refrigerated. Yes, I was thinking about tuna salad and chicken salad. In the pantry it goes. 🙂
Amazon sells boxes of the little packs of mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, bbq sauce, hot sauce, etc. I put them in our "open and eat" emergency food packs to add a little more flavor to the guys' food. Just a tiny bit of variety and comfort.
I’ve been looking for packets of jelly. Opened jars in my frig always go bad before I can eat it all. Nuthin better tha pnb&j for my bug out bag but hauling a jar of jelly is the pits.
Someone please incourage me!! I'm in WNC and it's apocalyptic here! My heart is beyond overwhelmed! I've had some damages but nothing like most. Just enough to keep me humble. Please tell your people you love them and hold your stuff loosely!!😢😢😢
Hang in there nana-just do the best you can to get thru each day-if you can't get thru the day then work on going hour by hour. If you can, take a step back from watching the news or news radio or even the paper for a few days. There are some of my favorite prepper channels that I don't even watch on days that I'm too stressed. I can always catch them up later if I choose to. Make lists of what you need to get done and divide them up by HAVE TO BE DONE, WANT TO GET DONE, SPARE TIME CHORES or something like it then cross off items as you finish them. I struggle with depression and I have to make lists to help give me a kick in the butt. Sometimes I put a time limit on the chore and try to get it done in that time or less-like a competition to see if I can do it. At the end of the day I look at my list and can be proud of what I did. You can rewrite the list each evening adding to it if something comes up or just use the same one. I rewrite mine so I can see my progress each day-just makes me feel better. Praying that the Lord give you some peace but at the same time, energy to accomplish what you need to...
I'm in northwestern NC. We have some downed trees we're still working on. It's the first time in my almost 60 years that I've felt the ground on my hill be spongy when I walk on it. Nowhere near as bad here as further up the mountain. Y'all are being prayed for fervently. Anchor Ridge and Samaritan's Purse in my county are working to provide helping hands, provisions, and warmth for hard-hit areas. We love y'all. Take strength and comfort from every day that passes, every chore that's done, and every moment of peace in your day. When I look at the big picture, I get overwhelmed. Small chunks of time are a lot easier to deal with.

Thank you for actually teaching, speaking on topic, and sticking to your channel description. So many content creators now have strayed so far from their channel description. You tune into their channel, described as "Prepping and Preparedness" expecting to hear a discussion on Prepping and Preparedness, and you get some 20- 30 minute personal opinion about current events and politics, not even trying to work preparedness into it. Thank you for staying true to your channel description and for providing content with value. My time is limited and precious. I feel it's well spent watching your channel.
Yeah, I carry the keys because I can't see at all times. So does he. It's stupid because these doors were never locked, I grew up with never locked grandparent house. Man, times have changed.
My refrigerator went out yesterday, so I canned from 3am till 11 last night. So far I only lost a couple bags of french fries. So thankful I know how to can! Love all the information on this channel. You never know what kind of crisis we could be in. Repent and get baptized, time is short. ❤to all❤
Hello from BRASIL! I really hope folks take your advice and tips seriously. I have been following you for a while and I am so proud of the progress I have made in stacking it to the roof. I am a crafter FULL TIME, that is my source of income and prepping has been a HUGH help in seasons when my products are not moving that fast. THANK YOU!
I agree with Leisa! Stock water, we live 5 miles from the destruction in NETN and had no water for 4 days. Hubby always told me I was silly to stock up water and our water system would never go out…..until it did! A lot of our neighbors still have no water.
My husband is in the same boat as your hubby. Even when we have little hiccups and I overcome them with my preps he is still not convinced. For all the stuff I can squish into the food bill its okay, but now I would like to add a generator and a few big ticket items and he is saying no.
@@jeannainnc8390 good luck! I can say after we were without the water, my hubby actually apologized and said, now I get it, you just never know. He’s also part of a team put together for the disaster relief coordination area wide as he is a non-profit CEO who serves multiple counties effected, so he’s seen a lot of the horrific damages and losses.
@@jeannainnc8390I hear you, we purchased a Honda generator 3 years ago to use when boondocking in our travel trailer. I now want a solar generator as backup in an emergency. Hubby says no. I’ll keep hoping.
Even if people think a grid outage is far fetched, they need to look at Cuba (and Helene and Milton aftermath). Those people now know differently and at any time, it could be any of us.
Hello from the UK! The correct pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce is wooster-shur sauce. In British English we often condense words e.g. The shire endings of county names. I greatly appreciate your information and advice and I am getting better at ignoring people who tease me for my food preps.
I do most of my meat canning in the fall. Today I did 21 pints of ground beef and ground sausage using your vid’s! Also, a tip I came always do is that if I come up with say a few jars short of a full canner, I go ahead and fill jars with water like we are supposed to, but I keep them and label them sterile water and shelf them. It’s handy bc in a crisis, you may experience an injury where sterile water is needed to clean a wound, or wash out your eyes…you just never know. After having just went through Hurricane Helene and being without power (other than generators) I sure have appreciated all my shelf stable foods! My family ate like well! But this is how we’ve lived for years. My kids told me that I was a prepper before prepping was a thing! Staying ahead of my pantry items also allows me to not exactly “need” things or have to have things…so I just cruise through sales adds to replenish or add items at a SALES price. Saves me a ton of money!
@kimberlysmith I do too. But in WNC and lost power for 10 days too. So glad I have been canning two years.I had been canning veggies & recipes. So I lost a lot of meat. I have short time so I’m thinking of just canning cubed chicken and beef. Not sure if that’s the best. I did get a solar generator for my freezer though.
@@dberger1010 isn’t it wonderful! I buy bulk dry goods and use my 1/2 gal jars, food saver and 5 gallon buckets. I only have to do those purchases 2 times a year. We planted some berries & fruit trees so I have some fruit on my property but live very rural and have friends that have things I don’t have so we do some trading! It’s awesome!
There is a food bank in my hometown, and I have a friend who doesn't need the help of a food bank. But, she took a friend who was in need one day, and noticed wood pallets stacked up out back. So she asked the people what they did with the pallets. They told her they threw away the ones that didn't disappear. Now she disappears pallets on a regular basis, to use around her farm. Even if you don't need food assistance, food banks could have more to offer. So offer someone a ride, and have a look around. And don't be afraid to ask questions.
Thank you for all you do. I found you about a month ago and helped me find direction and actually start stocking and prepping. You are great at making this feel manageable, I've struggled with being overwhelmed when I listen to many other preppers
I agree Lindsay! Lisa you give me comfort like an aunt helping me out! When I feel the need to buy a million things ( most not food related), I go back to basic: put my money into my pantry and water.
Mid-Michigan here. I canned 32 pints of carrots today & have 10 lbs peeled & chopped ready for freezing tomorrow. Have 5 lbs of onions to dice for the dehydrator.
The food pantry idea is a good one. I feel like too many of us tell ourselves that the food pantry isn't an option... especially in my generation and the boomers before my generation. BUT!!! MOST of us aren't making a fraction of the money we used to make. I think we should get over the stigma of receiving help. I'm speaking to myself here. 😉
Thank you for this super helpful video! I have moved to a more remote location and we know we will face no power situations...I had not thought about how I would wash the dishes before! I have thought about cooking and lighting but not how to 'flush' and clean! I will need to stock up on plates, etc and hand wipes (& bum wipes!).
I picked up 2 of 55 gal food grade drums and cleaned them. I just need to fill them. I have to wait until last Thursday of month to order an off brand berkey water filter system. I have another freezer order for some more meat. And then I should be okay for at least 30 days or so. I'm praying for the best but preparing for the worst. Stay safe, friends.
Make a turkey water filter. Food grade bucket with a hole drilled in the bottom and the filter candle screwed in the bottom. We have used ours for 10 years and it works great.
@@sharonstory6479 joke name on berkey. The berkey filters and the cheaper candle filters will fit in a normal bucket. The commercial system are really just overpriced stainless steel buckets with a hole drilled in them.
Buy/plant a Moringa tree if you live in a warm climate. Its called the tree of life because the whole tree is nutritious and the seeds acn purify water. Grows to full height in a year.
A small generator will keep a good sized freezer or two going easily . Once the freezer is up to temp the generator can be switched on and off periodically ,it doesn't need to be on all the time .
I'll be placing a sizeable, end-of-the-year grocery order on 11/1. Until then, I'll be working on checking my car for winter preparedness and cleaning out the summer garden.
Honestly listening to you and others talking about what's coming has caused me some stress. But it also caused my to start checking other sources and it seems reasonable to be prepared even if nothing happens. I began stocking a pantry in spring. I started canning last winter..I was scared of it until I found presto electric canner. Anyway I'm not perfectly at but I'm at up enough to survive for awhile and have enough to care for my grown children if they need help. So thank you for stressing me out and giving me that kick in the butt. ❤
Ice cream is so a prep, lol. It's on my list of what I need to get through the first week of November, right after topping off the gas tank. Shelf-stable veggies are always my weak spot because I don't like them. In Zone 10 I can have a winter garden, so greens, peas, and brassicas are started.
I hear you about zone 10! In 10b, the crops are limited. Can only buy apples, but have planted key lime bushes for a year round supply of vitamin c. Softneck Garlic only down here!
263 bulbs just finished planting, All hardneck, including Music and 5 others. Canning my green chili peppers for pizzas and nachos. Froze a lot of red hot chili peppers for later use and dehydrated some for powder as a spice. Putting my butternut squash up for the winter with the potatoes.
I canned pinto beans today. Daughter said yes please. Lol so glad that I can help her. Prepping and helping family when and where "I CAN". sorry couldn't resist the pun
Ive been in on line culinary school and have so many things that we only used once. I think im getting my pantry stocked without even knowing it. Now im starting with a purpose and a nice foundation to fill in the gaps!
Have changed to WM delivery. When I did the math, the cost of driving to WM weekly was about the price of membership, which was 1/2 price when I got it. I do tip the drivers but the hour it saves me is worth that cost and it goes to a person not a company. Also, when I see a good price, I can order right then.
Agreed - same here! Most of my canned goods/paper goods/cleaning supplies are delivered by WM to my porch. It saves time, gas, and I only need to lift the items one time - to bring them into the house and put them away. I am very limited on what I can lift so delivery for this reason alone is worth it to me. Another plus is you only get what you order. In person shopping may lead to picking up additional items that are not on one’s list. Sam’s Club also delivers - the delivery cost may vary with what is ordered. Having bulky/heavy packages of tp, paper towels, etc. delivered is great (for me) as well.
Just did the same thing. My wm is 20+ miles away. Now I don’t worry about rogue shooters, or driving on the craziest street in “the city” -- just click click my order and it arrives next morning.
@@emilasmith4279good point; had not thought about the ease of putting away. I have a rolling basket-thingie that was made for outdoors that I put on the porch and just roll the delivery in and to the pantry.
I literally just looked that up today! My sister tells me that she is having to wait up to two hours even when doing scheduled drive up pick up times. I may try to 30 day trial. I don’t do a lot of shopping but if I’m gonna have to wait, I’d rather wait here at my house for sure.
I can stock again after the 1st. Rough month with hurricanes and brakes on the car. Extra is gone. I don't plant garlic, but my other Florida veg are coming up. 😊
What people don’t understand is you might pull up in a Mercedes but you lost your job. You’re not sure how to make the next payment but you need a car for a job. And now you need some food. Because you’re driving a new vehicle doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not in trouble in these days.
Thank you! You are absolutely right! I’m appalled by some of the comments here related to food pantries. I support our church food pantry and we don’t judge who comes to us for help. We give out bags monthly that have enough food to provide three meals to a small family for two weeks. A single person or a mother and kid can eat for a month. No questions asked! We don’t care what you are wearing or driving. Times are hard and we have more people show up every month.
Years ago, my sister drove a Mercedes. It wasn't new. Her husband happened to work for Mercedes Benz related to semi truck engines, and they were allowed to purchase the used cars. My sister and her husband were never "well off", and had 5 children to raise. During that time, he was diagnosed with leukemia, and passed away after failed treatment. Fortunately, my sister was able to keep the car. NONE OF US KNOW WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING THROUGH. STOP JUDGING.
Ever since I was 24, I have always stocked up my home for months at a time. Never knew it was called a prepper. Some of my family thought I was crazy for doing it.
Ive just liked having my own "store". Trying to keep peoplevfed while workjng full time, and hated to need sonething and not have it. No time for that.
Was nice kniwing i had food rrady to cook after fighting heavt traffic fir an hour to get home. One less thing caysung me stress! Still that wY and uts jyst two of us.
I absolutely do what you suggest with Walmart: Load the cart and fine tune it, matching it with what I need and what I have to spend. Those pick-up options from stores like Walmart and Target are, perhaps, the best things to come out of Covid!
Walmart pick up and subscription services are great! Having things come in monthly will help you stock up little by little. Amazon subscriptions are nice too.
Am in middle of 28 day cruise and arrive home midnight 11/6! Hoping beyond belief nothing happens while on way home from Australia. When I get home it will be pressure canning to amplify my pantry stored foods. Keep prepping! It will be so beneficial to you and your family.
Just put in 850 garlic. Musick, German Red and Elephant. I know Elephant isn't really garlic, but it is new to our rotation. I've been multiplying year by year, and am feeling pretty awesome about this year's planting, as I only planted 450 last year. Plus, I have a ton in the freezer for this coming winter season for cooking and canning.
Food banks don’t ask how much you make usually. Our main one asked about income only to find out if the person qualified for a certain list of food from the government. But we didn’t qualify but still needed help because of high medical bills. We would get half a grocery cart of food always including canned foods and frozen meats. Most were frozen at sell by date. Lots of pastas, breads, and sometimes produce. Many people worry that they might be taking from someone with greater need. But most food banks around here are sending home lots of leftovers with volunteers.
We utilized food banks because we had a hard time making ends meet. I wish I made better choices but I'm grateful for the blessings which help me pay my bills, fix my car and house.
I’m so happy I found you. Your information and making it not overwhelming for me. I got my sterno’s today. And my hands and feet warmers today. Thank you so much for understanding the rotating system, things that are very important I never would have thought of these things.
I started two years ago with the freeze dryer,. I had lots of fruit no sugar added to anything with my fruit. When I cook, I don’t add salt. But you can add it later except for beans. I’m sorry my beans gotta have some salt. I do know beans and ham turned out really good. I just needed to make sure I got rid of all the fat and the grease by letting it sit in the refrigerator that all came to the top and made it easy and it tasted awesome. All I have to do is add water. And yes, I do have lots of canned goods cause I can’t do everything and I can’t depend on the garden when it comes to me because I’m new at all of this because I worked hard on my life physically and wasn’t into the female prepping stuff. But I did years ago when money was bad for me. I did have a lot of canned goods and the freezer full and I did use the crockpot a lot and those days. So I would load everything up go to dinner would be ready when I get home.
I've told my son to follow your channel because you explain things far better than I can and in a less scary way than the doomsday preppers. I'm in the UK and he's in Australia so there's not much I can do for him other than point him in the right direction. In the meantime, my apartment smells of dehydrating onions - it's too cold to open the windows to let the smell out but they have to be done to keep me going over winter.
I have planted garlic for two years. I love it. Did inventory of my home canned goods one section one day, the other section the next day. I'll be darned that I found a total of 6 jars that popped the seal. It's all forjars for me from now on.
Don’t forget your pets! I just bought 2 years of essential medication for my little dog. Price is up 40%! Ouch, that really hurt. Huge bag of her special food too… If medical supplies for people are hard to come by in a SHTF situation, imagine what it will be like for pets.
@@barbwall3678 Same here, my little dog is 12. I’m going to buy another year of medication and more food soon. The meds will store 3 years, the food will store 2 years at a stretch. Best prepped dog in town. :)
WENT TO WALMART YESTERDAY .. and they have a lot of different foods for the season like canned corn n beans and jiffy mix and a lot more on sale . Canned corn n beans was .50 cents a can Jeff was .50 a box . Turkey was right now .88 cents a lbs . It will get better on price this can help ppl stock up . 12 cans of corn is $6.00 a flat good deal there . Same with green beans go get it peeps it’ll help .
Barley and split peas are low glycemic better for diabetics. Im concentrating on pet supplies, pet food, dewormer, flea and tick meds, mite meds for ears, hot spots, vitamins also caster and or olive oil for fleas incase meds are unavailable.
For me, I'm making my own Cream of Anything shelf stable instead of spending $ of canned soup. Saving money for something else like meat, onions, garlic, bell peppers, celery, food grade IBC totes.
What a GREAT video ~ Great information, & great personality that shines through the seriousness. Thank you. Just sent this to my cuz, who last I knew was only getting $80 a month for food ~ Thank you
Brashachilles9725 For some reason I can't see the rest of your comment. Bui from what Ive read, Im so sorry. That's terrible. i keep hearing of things from the UK, that honestly, I thought we would experience first. Everybody seems so out to get us, the USA, that I always thought we would reap this crap before you. Im so so sorry for your Mom. Nobody deserves this slavery lilve for the establishment bullcrap. I m so sorry hun. Please know that I love you & so many more of us do too ~
Thank you for all you do, Leisa! Always have prepping in the back of my mind. Canned applesauce and pie filling in the past few days, canning ground deer meat today and tomorrow. ( And my son got a buck today 😄 so we'll be taking care of that!). Have already planted Cole crops, will plant garlic next week, planting seeds in my small polytunnel. Have pumpkins and sweet potatoes near harvest. During my gardening down time, will be doing a freezer clean out, updated inventory, and planning my Spring garden.
I need to take time tomorrow and reorganize part of our pantry! I just did 7 quarts (had 8 but used one for dinner last night) of chicken pot pie filling from your video! Our ready made meals in a jar, chili's, stews, soups ect shelf unit is almost full and it's a big shelf unit! Thank you for all you do Lisa!❤
Love your channel. I am in Western NC and went through Helene. I thought I was well prepared and still learned a few things. I was without power for 6 days, better than most. I can’t handle another disaster so soon and pray for peace. After a few days, stores and a few restaurants were open, cash only. The same with gas stations, cash only. All banks were closed, only a few ATMs worked, they ran out of money. Have cash! Great point on shelf stable, I had to throw all my fresh abs frozen food in the garbage. 😢
I really appreciate your videos. They are always helpful. There is nothing more satisfying than realizing you don't have to go to the store because you already have what you need. I got very excited at BJs last week as they had a package of six Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Many of the recipes in my slow cooker book call for it. Walmart has been out of it for a while. It is an easy way to add flavor to soups and such. One thing that is very helpful is to know that many things we keep in our pantries can be used for other things. There are many channels that share information on how to make homemade cleaners and such. Most people would be surprised by things old folks did during the Depression. I learned from my mom to recycle anything. So, before throwing something in the trash, check to see if there is anything on it that you can use for something else. This is definitely true of old clothing. All those buttons, snaps, hooks, zippers, can be removed and put away for use later. It isn't hard to do. Zippers today are generally plastic, so they may not be worth saving, but the metal ones are. They used what was left as rags, patches for other clothing, stuffing for pillows, or pieced them together to make other things. I'd recommend talking to older people about the way things were done when they were young. Thank you again.
You're a wonderful person. 🎉 I've been doing a little research on what they ate in England during WWII. Their big problems were lack of good protein and cooking fats. If you have a cool basement year round, coconut oil in glass jars keeps well. And remember the vegetarian options for complete protein (legumes and grains, or nuts and grains together.) In England, the grains went to the soldiers. My favorite combination is bean soup and cornbread.
England imported most meat and dairy products. My grandfather grew a garden. When my mom moved to England to marry my dad in 1947, rations were tight. 1 egg a month or 3 lbs of chicken food. 1 piece of meat the size of the palm of your hand a week. 1 walnut sized piece of margarine, lard and butter a week. One could not raise their own beef, sheep or hogs. If you did, it became part of the communities food and you got your ration. My folks raised rabbits and chickens. There was no rationing on fish when it was available. Children got rations focused on their dietary needs. I remember my folks sent canned meat to the family into the 1960's.
I love olive oil but this month I bought a coconut oil, thanks. I already eat less meat, soup bones have become a condiment in my beans and soups instead of a rib eye on the plate. I am delighted with the nutritional yeast you mentioned, and milk, cheese, cottage cheese, beans are more prominent. Yesterday I ordered wild rose seeds for rose hips. They are supposed to grow here. I will start them inside this winter. I am crazy for wild edibles, but usually find seeds. 11 years, not a single wild rose. I have restored over a dozen wild edibles to my county. Now I get to see them along our roads. Not edible, but I found a rare native Ascepias butterfly weed for Monarchs and established a patch. I now see a few along my 5 mile road. Ditto penstemons for hummingbirds.
I planted garlic but only 46 cloves 😂 I will considered my pantry well stocked and ready to go for a few months, maybe close to half a year. I am grateful to be able to stock when I can.
I gotta say after reading a comment. What i want to prep for today is much different than a year ago, two years ago, 3 years ago 4 years ago. 5 years ago...6-7. you get my point, right? I started the journey with breast cancer. I started backpacking and hiking a bit before that. It was full force after that. It is a life style, had always been with momma being a scout leader for my brother. She didnt grasp ,so helping her along the way. Idk.. seems people are way different now. Watching from afar
I've been seeing many videos about bug out bags. I decided to fill a tote in my veh w the necessary items for 3 days, incl 3 gal of water. Ready, set, go 👍
I just planted bunching onion seeds, spreading out my onions for increase. My extra pressed barley and nutritional yeast came this morning. I have a potato baking for dinner, yum! No heavy frost yet, so I brought in greens for a salad. My frost is about 3 weeks late.
Thank you for ALL you do! You have helped me so much. I’m 74 and after inventory taking this weekend was so surprised what I had been able to do in a short time on a very constricted budget. ❤️🙏🏻 Just a side note- I went to lunch with a friend today to a local diner. And oh my- the energy was intense and loud. I am very sensitive to energy and made the decision that the week of November 3rd I will be hibernating. Things are building. I had my eyes open. I feel as safe as I can and again, thank you for your loving labors. Hugs from the east coast!
It's being in the kitchen that can really through you off, especially if your just "learning" how to be in the kitchen. No one should feel bad about having a pantry that has store bought canned meat, fruits and veg you and your family will eat. The world is not ending, you might not like who's in charge but there will be plenty of time to figure/learn how to can, bake and do all the other things. Love your fan club 🥂
Damn Straight! I'm NOT a conspiracy theorist. I AM the only child of a single mother who passed away when I was 12. It was rough, yes, but also the BEST lesson EVER! No one took me in. No one came to rescue me, and Prince Charming never stepped out of the woodwork. The government gave me an $1800 check and their condolences. My former foster mother took it. I've been on my own- emancipated minor- since 16. There CANNOT be failure, there's no where to land and regroup. How many people that age TRULY understand reality? I'm 49 now and I've never been homeless since. Never had my bills cut off. My boyfriend's always moved into MY fully furnished and functioning apartments from mommies house, and always retreated back when we ended. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY PEOPLE!! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT to prepare for your own future! They may say we're crazy, but do you know how many people I have rescued with my prepping? I moved back in with my mom a few years ago for various reasons. It has taken three years to have her finally understand the reason why I wanted to pressure cook some of our meat instead of freezing it all. With the threat of war, the protests that could get out of hand, threat of terrorism in our nation and grid problems. She's finally understanding my concern of our freezing a lot of our meat. She's thinking of pressure cooking some. 🎉 😄👍 A win!
I can meat with bone broth and tell my female relatives that it's so I can prevent or delay osteoporosis. It does make collagen and protein more digestible and available. I don't have bone problems and they do, so it might be working...knock on wood. See, that way I don't look like a weirdo - they thought that way until I said that about strengthening my bones.
In one of your recent videos you mention Fondu pot for indoor cooking. I found one yesterday at our local thrift store, it’s German made, uses liquid fuel, also looks like it was never used. The price was $5, thank you for suggesting it.
Very valuable information. I'm definitely taking heed. Regarding inventory, what I did was as I stocked my kitchen cabinets, I made a Word template and listed all the stuff, so when I open the cabinet door, the list is right there. Another tip: since Berkey no longer makes their carbon filters, Amazon offers replacements based on model. Hopefully they will fit! 😊
Cleaning out the freezer this week to make room for the 1/4 beef we purchased. 36 jars of beef, pork and chicken done. Will be planting my garlic tomorrow. Will be canning saurkraut in 3 weeks. Will be canning carrots soon as well, just waiting for the farmer to harvest so we can collect the leftbehinds (free carrots)!
I got 1 more grocery store run and a bottle water shipment and I'm ready for what ever happens I went and voted today so election day I'll be home safe and sound
I will be planting my garlic by the end of the week. My husband would go twice a week and wait "till the end of that day and take the rest of all free food. We canned flats of Cuties, Cantaloupe, strawberries, fresh veggies, plus our garden items. I'm in Wis.
Pa here, did early mail in voting and got the garlic planted last week! Thanks for always sharing info without making it feeling hopeless or panicked. I really enjoy your videos
Love your channel Leisa! I've been prepping for months, getting ready for whatever comes. Today at my Dollar Tree, I found shelf stable whole milk, plant milk, and 2% for $1.25 a quart. I got a few for "just in case". I've used the Walmart grocery pick-up for a couple of years. Thanks for all your tips and for helping us prepare! I'm in Indiana.
I’ve planted garlic. I have at least a thousand little bulbs. The hard-neck is Deerfield Purple and the soft-neck is from the store several years ago; I can grow both types here in NW Louisiana. Last year, I planted the seed pod heads from the garlics of the previous year. It takes two or three years to get enough doing it this way but you get thousands of bulbs. It’s time or numbers. It was a test and it’s still going on.
I need to get my garlic in, too, but my garden still needs cleanup. I really should at least sit and separate the cloves. I'll work on that tomorrow 👍 I need to get some water purification tabs, too. Good reminder. I'm slowly feeling better about how prepared I am, though! Progress is happening ❤
Wow, UK is planning ahead for crisis!
Glad you’ve taken care of your mom.

Wow! Glad your mom is doing well and prepared. Good advice.
Oh wow! OK great tip!
Oh my God! Fabulous tip!
Another handy tip;
If you don’t have paper plates; consider wrapping your plate or bowl with plastic wrap. Unwrap and toss after eating.
What a fantastic idea
Another idea to stretch paper plates or even regular plates. Get a box or two of the individual cut wax paper (like they use to pick up donuts with at the bakery). I use paper platesbut put a wax paper on top. Coffee filters also work to hold dry things like chips etc. 😊
You can was dishes with vinegar and water. Put in spray bottle and spray plate and white off. Hardly any
water needed.

I bought 100 cans of various canned vegetables from Walmart this month to add to my stock pile. It's just me so I don't worry about pleasing anyone with what I make.
That is awesome. You can eat well for a long time on that.
That’s a really great idea
Amazon sells boxes of the little packs of mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, bbq sauce, hot sauce, etc. I put them in our "open and eat" emergency food packs to add a little more flavor to the guys' food. Just a tiny bit of variety and comfort.
I’ve been looking for packets of jelly. Opened jars in my frig always go bad before I can eat it all. Nuthin better tha pnb&j for my bug out bag but hauling a jar of jelly is the pits.
Making mayo w egg whites and stocked olive oil is easy and healthier also

The food pantry idea is a good one. I feel like too many of us tell ourselves that the food pantry isn't an option... especially in my generation and the boomers before my generation. BUT!!!
I agree 100%. I've been ordering, grabbing sales items and have a nice pantry set up!

Distilled water is a godsend!
After canning chicken soup with windows closed for a day and a half, it feels like I drank two gallons of it, but like you said, it needs to be done.
Tell your Aussie son it is just like getting ready for a camping trip, a surprise camping trip! 😉
Yep, I’ve stocked up for my Sr cat Margaret.
Hoping she’ll live a few more good years @ 15.😻
@@barbwall3678 Same here, my little dog is 12.
I buy the garlic at Walmart not in the seed section but the food section and I plant those clothes and they do grow
Excellent advice and direction - whether new to this or seasoned, I think we can all use a refresher! Thanks
Please know that I love you & so many more of us do too ~
Let us all be in each others prayers. We all need prayers ~
Freeze dried ice cream is totally a prep in my house 😂
I feel the same way .
You are rocking it!
@SuttonsDaze trying not to get caught with my pants down 😉😂😂!
My son and I are pricing solar generators to get that in our preparation.
I went antiquing/thrifting this past weekend and found a fancy fondu pot for 4.99. I was so excited.
Sweet!
The biggest difference between now and WWII is that back then they had real food. Now we have manufactured food.
Look into getting a Moringa tree. The leaves are super healthy. Called the Tree of Life for a reason.
@@ej8710A great example about how we should not expect the govment to feed us.
@@SuttonsDaze I do my best to read labels and select foods accordingly. Amazing how much cr@p is mixed in with stuff, even freeze dried food😢
Olive oil is good for an emergency candle. People have used it for many many years!
I planted garlic but only 46 cloves 😂 I will considered my pantry well stocked and ready to go for a few months, maybe close to half a year. I am grateful to be able to stock when I can.
I am glad i stumbled upon your video. Thank you for all the good advice. I'll keep watching future videos.
Freeze dried ice cream is a prep. 😀💕🌸🍀
We are planting Spanish Roja, German Red, Montana Giant, & Chesnok Red, garlic.
Thanks! I'm still buying stuff for me and my father. He has been prepping too.
Good for you both!
Just a side note- I went to lunch with a friend today to a local diner. And oh my- the energy was intense and loud. I am very sensitive to energy and made the decision that the week of November 3rd I will be hibernating. Things are building. I had my eyes open. I feel as safe as I can and again, thank you for your loving labors. Hugs from the east coast!
It is a great feeling to accomplish something, especially on a budget. Be safe!
@@SuttonsDaze you too! 💕
The apple fritter bread was amazing! My crew devoured the whole loaf in less than a day. Thank you for sharing all the things
Glad you enjoyed it!
We are smart, empathetic, skilled, and a fabulous asset to our neighborhoods and greater communities. THAT'S who we are! ❤ to you and yours!
@@chimilewski my Dad lost his job & Mama just learned about & put in force, food storage. Because she did, our family had food to eat. He was injured on the job (US Marshall) & that means, you're on your own. She saved the family & we got through a few months on the stored foods ~
@@chimilewski and I really believe a lot of us that prep DO actually think of neighbors & strangers that may come by ~
@@chimilewski just because you have the views that, well, most of us have, doesn't make you a conspiracy theorist. You're just realistic ~ God Bless sweetheart ~
Truthfully bottom line, who should care if they are taking steps to make sure of being prepare
. As soon as I read this, I got down on my knees to pray for you! I'm so sorry that you've gone through this, but SO THANKFUL your mamma read the room and got your family prepared! You and yours have been added to my list of daily prayers.❤❤❤sending you love!
Voted today!!!
🎉 😄👍 A win!
It sounds like she is finally understanding the importance of preparation.
That is a great find. Enjoy!
I just ordered a solar fan/light for if we need to move heat around if power goes out. Matches and lighters are a must also.
Thank you Leisa. Wise words. 🇦🇺
We stocked up on keystone meat in cans
That’s wonderful!
I’ve planted hard neck for five years because I love the scapes. This year I’m mixing in soft neck.
I need to get my garlic in, too, but my garden still needs cleanup. I really should at least sit and separate the cloves. I'll work on that tomorrow 👍
I need to get some water purification tabs, too. Good reminder.
I'm slowly feeling better about how prepared I am, though! Progress is happening ❤
Just got my garlic planted yesterday and today. I cannot imagine doing that many bulbs!
