Recently inherited a 35 year old VHS camcorder that no longer records to tape and have been theorizing how to make a mobile setup to go out and shoot. Thanks for proving that it can be done, and I can avoid spending an arm and a leg on an atomos ninja. Now I just have to wait patiently for Amazon to restock...
Hopefully it’s soon!
Love that you included the tips! I would include a description of your tips and try to get people trying to scale in premiere pro!
I'm getting into photography thanks to you, I really love your videos.
Thanks, please keep doing all this amazing stuff.
That’s awesome! Glad you have found my videos helpful!
It's cool!!! Has a fun retro feel ... kinda like old cable access channels!!!
love the VHS content! now I need to make a trip to the attic for the old 90s dadcam lol!
Definitely pull that thing out!!
Fantastic setup!!!
Thank you!
Damn, gonna have to get me one of these. I've got a RCA CC009 I've been playing around with.
You know what would be kind-of cool?
Using an anamorphic lens adapter on the front of the old camcorder's lens and having the "stretch out" to 16x9 that the AUX to HDMI converter does, restore correct proportion to the image.
I would guess that this might be even less practical than the current (let's face it) kludge to record 4:3 analogue video digitally, considering the size and bulk of an an anamorphic lens adapter (not to mention how expensive these are to buy, even old secondhand ones).
Hey Chris enjoy your videos. I noticed the Suikui captures in 30fpfs. Is that good enough. I'm in Australia and Pal is the preferred format which is 50fps. Is it relevant ?
"suck it"
"what?"
😂🤣
i just got the same set up and everything for my sony dcr trv103 but when i have everything set up it just says “ no HDMI”
any ideas ??
I wonder what it would look like if you used tube camera instead of CCD. Tube cameras had better image quality than early CCD sensors.
Good Intro My Name Is Chris/Earl Intro haha ... Subscribing now !!
🤘
What do you think about the audio on these analog cameras turned digital? I mean I definitely prefer it to the sound of a modern camera.
What about deinterlacing?
Your only reliable and arguably most expensive option to get your analog footage to a external sdi / hdmi recorder is a broadcast style converter, bssically the pro version of your cheap little white box. Blackmagic or AJA sell those, essentially ad converter who can also scale an image to a broadcast standard. Worth if you plan on using a lot of analog cameras or even retro game consoles.
I can’t even comprehend this comment
@@JustAnotherChris look up blackmagic analog to sdi converter in youtube, the first entry should explain it. Someone who uses a older tv camera in a church setting.
this might be a stupid question, but would you still need a tape in the camera to record or can you just have the camera on and record through the monitor?
Amazon reviews for the Suikui are not favorable though. They say it heats up.
i have 2 digital camcorders from sony one is small and records in 2K and slightly big one that records in 4K i dont need tapes
Is there a cheaper recoder under $100 that I could use to record?
Not that I’m aware of
item is unavailable on amazon!? where else can i purchase??
DSLR shooter RUclips channel recently did a video on this item and looks like they sold out. I’m sure it will be back in stock soon.
@@JustAnotherChris thanks!!
will it work on a Sony DSR PD100? I am planning to go tapeless if I cant fix my camera. thank you.
I don’t see why not
@@JustAnotherChris thank you!!!
Can you use this on your jvc too?
Yup! It will work on any VHS camera
@@JustAnotherChris Seriously…How old can we go Chris?
On any vhs camera that has RCA connections.
I keep getting a no HDMI with the same setup???
Are you powering the AV to HDMI?
Yes, I have an NP battery connected to it. I also tried connect the AV to HDMI to an outlet. @@JustAnotherChris
