    Story
    -------------------
After Link destroys the evil inside the Deku Tree, Link returns to the Deku Trees final wishes.
    Info
    ----------
    Sorry, this took so long!
This was my take on the Great Deku trees death scene.
Was by far the most tossed aside scene in the series LOL. Links literal only real guardian dies in front of him
and in Oot it was sooo stale...
Besides that It was fun to do this one because of how ironic it was to me as a kid! and I added my own spin at what the Deku should've said.
I noticed he never really said by or told Navi goodbye especially Navi ahahaha she just was Sunday driving thru that scene in the original LOL
The process of making this made me really appreciate my parents, anyone whos ever comforted you is someone very special regardless of what happens down the road. Tell the people you love, that you love them!
Anyways I have another video on the way please stay tuned!
and also streaming will return i figured out why it crashed ;)
And I have to give another big shout out to Brock Hewitt: Stories in Sound for literally going all in on this score!! please show him the love

Watching link so happy when he sat down knowing what would happen hurt me so much but also filled me to the brim with happiness seeing how happy he was then when the great deku tree died I felt the same pain I felt 12 years ago when I was first old enough to understand the story of the game I had played so many times before this is so beautiful I cannot stress enough how great your work is

Couldn't agree more. I first played this game when I was three and never got to this part. When I was old enough to complete the dungeon I didn't fully understand what had happened so I just continued playing without a second thought. I replayed it a while ago and this bit really hit me. However, I wish Nintendo could do a remake with even better graphics so we could properly see the emotion Link felt. But I still love this scene regardless and I am amazed at how good this animation is. Well done MajorLink!

What a way to set up the real tone of the game huh. The sadder parts were either heavily implied through dialogue or displayed through symbolism. My take is the 5 temples as an adult are representitive of the stages of grief link starts to go through.
That's why the water temple is a confusing labrynth--love is complicated, with extreme highs and lows and temperamental. Depression and general sadness are represented using blue. Dark link shows up here because link is essentially depressed by this point, trying to stay strong and afloat but he can't. ruto tries to reassure him not to be discouraged and that Zelda is indeed alive. Its not quite enough though.
He runs back to childhood one more time in an effort to make himself feel better and decides on a harmless romp at the bottom of the well. That simple curiousity had him stumble into a place where he saw things he shouldn't have. His curiousity was rewarded alright, but at a price. The experience hardened him and stamped out what was left of his innocence and ignorance. The water temple started by drowning him but now he's in a black hole; he becomes numb, unsure whether he should be loyal to the cause anymore. It's not until he gets to the end of spirit temple for him to accept everything after seeing how heartless the gerudo were to their own and to others. How barbaric and primative they seemed in comparison.
But what i never see brought up is that twinrova is the first full blown human(oid) boss link faces and legitimately kills--ganondorf's _guardians/mothers_ to be precise. Like how ganondorf took the great deku tree from him; it is an eye for an eye. the real final test of becoming an adult was link's willingness in taking another life. If he could do that then he was ready to not hold back against ganondorf.

One of Link's most vulnerable and sad scenes. I love how you actually made him show emotion. Unlike the original game, where we get a blank, confused stare. So sad. Made even sadder by the cutscene in Windwaker when Link meets the Deku Tree. So much crying.

    • @ShadowSkyX
      @ShadowSkyX 3 года назад +9

A blank confused stare is equally appropriate though. He wouldn't understand why his efforts didn't change the outcome. Why ask him to destroy the source of the problem when the deku tree is already, irreversibly dying from it?
The great deku tree wanted assurance that link had and maintained his courage in the face of adversity regardless of the outcome.

@@bobasbountytv1572 put it this way, if it's true then this dude has some serious attachment issues that is beyond what anyone in this world has ever known. There was 0 character development with this stupid tree when the game came out so we didn't even know that the deku tree meant much at all. Especially with links emotionless face hence the point of this animation. Ridiculous attachment issues or this kid is fishing for online sympathy. If what the kid says is true about their dad being gone my condolences though.

Love the elements of this story. First, I love how emotional Link is. He was mainly stoic in the game. Here, we can see Link acting like a kid. He smiles, he sits down in excitement at hearing a story, and he shows grief at the death of the Great Deku Tree. The way Link chokes back tears when the Great Deku Tree mentions his mother is heartbreaking. I love the ending where Link bows to the Great Deku Tree in respect and gratitude before leaving the forest. You can see that this is the moment where Link loses his innocence as he starts his long journey to become the Hero of Time. Thank you for that hard work, MajorLink.

I love how much personality you give Link through his subtle expressions and animations...! I know Link is usually supposed to be a blank slate, usually for better self-inserts in the game, but this was refreshing to see. Like you, I was also sorta irked by how seemingly nonchalant Link was to the Great Deku Tree’s final moments. Even I knew this was supposed to be a significant turning point for him, both in his personality and epic journey.
In short, you really captured this moment well. You made me remember (again) how truly tragic Oot Link becomes... 😞
P.S. You deserve more views and subs...!

this is something that while playing the game, you dont really feel on an emotional level. Watching this video almost made me cry and really brought to life, the relationship between Link and The Great Deku Tree. And the line "Although you never had the chance to meet your mother" made it even more bittersweet. You take this poor little kid with no family and now have him in this video with his father dying and wanting him to carry one his will. It really puts into perspective what video game characters CAN really feel, and maybe not whilst playing, but looking further into it, they have emotion. I know this may seem a little off and going all over the place, but what im really trying to say here is that everyone looks at a game differently and when you make an animation like this. It really changes everything up. Also watching this makes me wanna replay Ocarina of Time again and makes me wanna pay more attention to characters and their feelings while playing
